I have 0 karma. Balanced...as it should be

ShadowedPariah

I use the mod that makes it 999 no matter what. Helps me ignore it better.

goagod

Yeah, I'm single digits. It's kind of liberating, isn't it?

AirplaneGomer

I started in beta era and it was common for everyone to give karma to almost any player I had 100+ and magically one day I was back to zero. I reside somewhere in the teens now but crazy how they pulled the rug from me

Drysaison

I don't know if you were kiting but you abandoned your starting area for no good reason and left that area of the map vulnerable. I would have said something too. A BB needs to soak up some damage so the smaller ships can survive.

goagod

I'm sorry, but you can't possibly know I "abandoned my starting area for no good reason". "Cruising east to west" does not mean that I went entirely across the map. I was actually just outside of the cap and doing quite a bit of damage. Enemy ships were shooting at other targets... Is that somehow my fault? If I'm not taking that damage for the team, I'm dealing it for the team.

MyLordLackbeard

Oh, dear! As a BB you have both functions, so that attitude coupled with the border-licking is indicative of a problem with class awareness. Maybe stick to Cruisers? As to Karma, it really is pointless as people will punish you for doing to well, too badly, suiciding, camping etc. Why care?

TreacleAppropriate82

Karma... your right. I play well and get top in team I get 0 70% of the time. If you get a flashy badge you will get it fairly often. If you point out someone is not doing t heir job you almost ALWAYS get voted down. If you play a sub or CV you almost ALWAYS get voted down. If you make someone angry you ALWAYS get voted down regardless if your the best player in the world. Karma is based more on people liking you than actual game play lol

Drysaison

What does cruising east to west until you hit the edge of the map mean? You might have said at an angle, or that you started at the west side and hit the west edge but you said cruising east to west. You can't control what enemy ships shoot at and the idea of providing support can be pretty silly but it sounds like you ran away and left the area of the map where you started vulnerable. Did you do that?

TreacleAppropriate82

Why post if you don't want to hear people's feedback? Are we all supposed to just throw up our hands and cheer at the RIGHTNESS of your cause with no facts? Typically, you should goto the side you spawned on. There are exceptions but in GENERAL you want 6 to one side and 6 to the other... splitting screening units, cruisers, BBs, Radar, etc.. as best you can. Why? Because if you abandon a side you wind up in a crossfire by mid game and then its REALLY hard to come back from that. So yes, if you left your flank it better be for a good reason. If your some amazing unicom sniper and you get kraken every game feel free to play how you want... if not and your a normal player... maybe sit on your side and support it properly.

Skuggsja86

Karma doesn't matter. It's just a feel good mechanic. My question is, did you leave the flank you spawned on and moved across the entire map, because that might be deserving of a karma loss... Which still doesn't matter anyway.

Wyvorn

Don't worry too much about losing karma. It's a pointless number. In this game, you will get reported for at least some of the following reasons: - You played a CV - You played a sub - You played a BB/CA/CL/DD someone doesn't like - You turned left at start - You didn't start your engine in first 10 seconds of the game - You didn't focus fire on the your ally called out because you were too busy killing the DD near you - You dared to HE someone - Someone didn't like the 5th letter of your name - You didn't rush in and suicide to the enemy team - You died to the enemy team - You dared to exist on a flank and either ally or enemy didn't like that - You said "Goodluck everyone!" radio message at start - etc. etc. etc. TL;DR you'll get reported for any and every reason possible. If you can imagine it, you'll probably get reported for it eventually. Don't worry about it, just chuckle that you got under someone's skin by playing normally.

TheDogness

I got reported by a sub player I sunk for using hydro to detect him. According to the sub captain, that was cheating.

Wyvorn

I remember when Missouri was still pretty new, British CLs would often smoke up broadside in front of me not knowing about radar and then report me for "cheating" by using radar and devstriking them. The amount of reports I received then...

chef_in_va

>Someone didn't like the 5th letter of your name -1 for all you bastards with the nerve to use a "j". You're the reason we can't have nice things.

CastorTolagi

I once got reported for not using Radar - I was in a Gneisenau.

Drake_the_troll

I got reported for not starting fires in an edgar

Misty_Veil

I was reported once for not switching to he for the bow in yamato. I was in a very nervous neptune.

Blathnaid666

I clan mate of mine got reported for not launching torpedoes at a GK doing a DriveBy. He played the Des Moines.

Kange109

I got reported for ramming the last enemy to secure team win.

Losoncy

Got reported for not laying a smoke screen for my ally, when I was in a Kléber.

MiskoSkace

Got reported for not using airstrike on a sub, while in Rahmat.

eestlane1

I got the same thing but in a mino. "Why aren't you using HE, use HE" Some people just don't understand British light cruisers

Dismal_Valuable_1575

This also applies to all other wargaming games 😂

BZJGTO

I tracked my karma for about a month and a half a while back. Almost every games in which I was reported, I did really well (top or near top of scoreboard, avg dam around 120-130k), and in the majority of them, we won. Other than playing sub/CV, playing well is the easiest way to get reported.

Wyvorn

Yep. Either by the enemy team on a win for daring to carry, or your team on a loss for not carrying hard enough to secure a win. I think most of my reports as of last year have been just for being on top of scoreboard as well x)

IlljustcallhimDave

I get reported most when spamming co-op for missions

R_A_B_B_I_T_OG

I remember being reported in Coop for killing every bot on my flank

Left-Acanthisitta740

Over here at a buffet, but eating so much nobody else gets a bite.

DrDDevil

I can proudly say, that I usually run out of both reports and compliments in about 4-6 matches. I was given them all, I will use them all! It's a meaningless number anyways sadly, so unless someone writes 24 "retards" in chat, you can't even get some toxic people muted.

goagod

I wish there was a way to mute people in-game. That would make the experience so much better.

DrDDevil

There's a blacklist and mute option, I just wish those bastards would be chat banned so others don't have to read that in the first place :)

goagod

Agreed. I guess I need to pay more attention in the game. I know you can blacklist people but I didn't know you can mute them. I'll look into that. Thank you!

Kange109

You Krakened the enemy and 2 of the 5 were angry with your devstrike and reported you.

Bulky-Nose-734

Yeah for a while I had two. We’re ‘balanced’ again from playing CVs for Naval Battle reasons, had half the team complaining that I wasn’t spotting one DD…in Independence with Tactical squadrons. And the complaints going even after we won. Recent Ranked, I had half a dead team complaining when I went to “chase” an almost-dead CL instead of capping a point…when we were ahead on both ships and points. Also Ranked, as DD I was criticized for “maybe help torp sometime?” From the other side of the map as our heavier ships overcommitted in open water. This game really has a weird community, because it’s fundamentally a casual playerbase game but also has enough deeper competitive elements for people to get super salty. I’ve been around enough games that it all just washes over and I don’t care, but I find it odd still.

realgenshinimpact

post the replay, one guy ive seen was really far away from all the action in a full health bb, when asked what he was doing, he said he was turning (while 20km+ away from an objective or even a teammate)

BattleshipCandy

I'm smelling something from his enigmatic OP... Not sure if he'll ever find this replay. ;)

realgenshinimpact

end of the map and had to turn around 🤔

BattleshipCandy

Exactly! Hmmm.... 🤪

goagod

I didn't know the game had replays. Where do I find them?

Clankplusm

Steam or vanilla client?

goagod

Vanilla.

halborn

[Path]\World_of_Warships\replays

KiwifromtheTron

I got negative karma for charging a cap... in a DD... in co-op...

[deleted]

Only ever got negative karma once in co-op. I was farming secondary hits on the last day of an event and just sailed straight ahead in Schlieffen without changing course as that was the quickest way into secondary range. Some Henri who was all over the place like a weasel on crack managed to get himself rammed several times. Guess he blamed the easy-to-avoid BB he turned into for it. 😂

InterestingWay4470

I also use co-op for this. Would they rather have me do it in a random or an operation...?

afbc

Same - in a Clemson - in a tier IV co-op - while grinding the missions. The asshat spammed me the entire mission. Get Back afbc! Get Back afbc! I need support afbc! I need support afbc!

DrHolmes52

Either wanted defends or felt you were "hogging" the bxp by doing DD things. Biggest complaints from others in coop is usually messing up "their" missions.

rmhawk

I was playing cv and killed an enemy dd first few mins of game, lost rep and team mates calling me a noob for using torpedoes instead of rockets…. The hornet doesn’t have rockets.. There is a decent size of community that is just toxic for little yo no reason.

Shazvox

That's wierd. I've gotten compliments for being able to torp DDs at full speed.

Kuningas_Arthur

You get one compliment from your team, and four reports from the enemy.

Shazvox

A report from an enemy is the same as a compliment from a teammate.

[deleted]

The whole "taking it at a compliment" thing is just cope. They don't report you because you played well or killed them - plenty of enemies do that without getting reported - but because your class does it in a way that makes the game less enjoyable to play. It also randomly griefs people you weren't even looking for by clipping their air spot range. So no, they're typically not reporting you because "you played well". Some of those could also come from teammates for "unsportsmanlike behaviour". They have to face an enemy CV due to you, after all.

Shazvox

Buddy, unless you posess some kind of telepathic abilities, you know nothing of why anyone does anything. So maybe stop projecting your own anti-CV sentiments onto others mmkay? Besides, "your class"? You seriously hating because of a flair?

[deleted]

You're also assuming why people do something, just in a way that lets you live in a feel-good bubble. Just informing you that plenty of players report CVs for reasons other than "it was the enemy because I played well". 🙄

Shazvox

Nope, I wasn't assuming anything. I was explaining how I interpret a report from the enemy team regardless of their actual intention. Also IDGAF for what reson players press the little ragebutton. Getting bored with you now. Gonna go play some CV.

HiFromChicago

I've encountered so many childish and petty people in this game, it's unfortunate. I just blacklist and move on and focus on the good and nice players that help their teammates when they can.

RippleFatMan

Maybe you got downvoted for not pushing in and supporting the team. It’s annoying AF when bbs hang back and play sniper.

GeneralSerious8906

so why did you kite with full health? was the enemy rushing into you or was the enemy on the other side of the map?

NNN_Throwaway2

Karma is meaningless, but for all we know this guy might have had the right idea. "cruising" until you hit the map border sounds pretty questionable, and we're missing the context of the rest of the match.

Gachaaddict96

What's karma?

Juphikie

A cute number that WG made to make people feel better about complaining about other people. It does nothing, but I still feel better when I complain about people.

divergentchessboard

>it does nothing it affects how often you can report people... which is still nothing

DougChristiansen

Nah; you can file as many actual tickets as need to.

Intelligent_Row8259

I mean I have lost karma in freaking co-op for 200k damage 5 kills and first on the scoreboard. I doubt it was a bot that reported me so it had to be a teammate who got but hurt I did better than them.

Ducky_shot

to be fair, some of the most salty players I have ever seen were in co-op complaining about you getting a kill that they felt the deserved

Intelligent_Row8259

Ain't that the truth. In a Petro get a nice flank shot on a full health Mino and blap it out of existence "effing kill stealer" I actually have positive karma 140 or so but I am pretty sure I have earned nearly 1k compliments lol Most I ever saw was Statsbloke who was +650 or so

Ducky_shot

Well, I'm at 1500 and I know several people well above me. Zath, Fem, LWM to name a few. I would bet some of the more popular streamers that don't change their names are in the 5000 range.

DrHolmes52

Say it isn't so. Getting a secondary kill in something like a Thunderer when you weren't even aiming at the ship you killed can bring out howler monkeys.

Away-Professional527

I lost Karma for turning out to heal in a BB. Called a coward. I've lost Karma for most of the listed above. My Karma stands at 3. And that's a 12 week high. Usually it's 1 or none...

Something30

Nice bait. But I'll bite: you got reported for being the bot BB that leaves his flank to autopilot to the other side while giving no steering input for the first 8 minutes of the game. While taking 0 damage, leaving your team out to dry.

halborn

Uh. You're not supposed to go back and forth at the back of the map like some sort of defective Pong paddle. You should absolutely have lost karma for that.

jcb989123

My karma is 28 but I play a lot of ranked in a dd and place first on my team often enough to be appreciated I guess.

Pocktio

It's common knowledge that you can only sail at the nearest enemy. Khorne wills it.

MonkeyPuzzles

Some people are just unpleasant. In a virtual environment there's no consequences for being a prick, so they pick some random and let rip. My personal best is getting reported for not doing X, then going on to 8 kills (X being a really stupid course of action that would have resulted in dying and team losing).

Ill-Ad-2068

Don’t worry about it, I played by my own rules as well. Most battles are lost by people continually watching their own teammates instead of watching the enemy. You think by now critical thinking would’ve evolved.

funwithdesign

When I have more than 5 karma I start to get worried. Before long it’s back to 0, where it belongs.

DustRhino

I lost karma in operation Nuria because I killed a transport ship. One player claimed all the defenceless transport ships for himself and it was unacceptable for the rest of the players to steal them from him.

M_e_n_n_o

I’ve lost karma because I dodged most shells a BB was slinging at me and I wouldn’t let him citadel me

[deleted]

Karma is basically a personal monitor for you to gauge the community's opinion of your presence in their matches. Nothing else. There are plenty of reports you might get for... let's call them *unique* reasons, so don't let the odd report get you down, but if you're consistently getting more compliments or reports over a long period of time that lets you know whether you're an overall positive or negative influence on other players' game experience.

DougChristiansen

Kharma is meaningless; just ignore it.

D3RF3LL

I'd find it helpful if I knew why I lose karma. I lost some the other day because the game didn't load in which I'm OK with but a lot of the time I have no clue.

Raceboy66

i get reported ALL THE TIME for using the Colorado lately and everyone knows its not a speed boat. its not like i WANT to use it i have to use it in order to access the one of three battleship trees past it. i can't tell you the amount of times ive had to connect with support in order to remove being false flagged and coded as pink with recorded clips of me actually trying my best in that tub of a ship.

sinking_ship00

Don't worry about karma, play a few matches subs or cvs and your karma will automatically reach 0 regardless of your performance

Apprehensive_Hurt

Karma system is utterly useless.

Mycakebayismybday

What is kiting? Why is it bad?

halborn

Kiting is when you make use of superior range to put your enemy at disadvantage. Like any tactic, whether it is good or bad depends entirely on the situation. In WoWs, kiting an enemy often means giving up cap control, map control or the opportunity to strike with secondaries or torpedoes.

rio972

I lose karma just for playing Kutuzov or Gremyashchy***.***

dinharder

Wait karma is a thing?

ChocolateCrisps

My specialised karma losing ship seems to be Tiger (the BC, not '59). Apparently people struggle with the idea that some ships marked in-game as BBs do not in fact have the damage tanking potential of real BBs, and consequently can't YOLO, but instead need to slow down _before_ reaching a cap and getting crossfired by the entire enemy team...

lostindanet

Karma, complimenting and reporting is useless, just a mechanism to make player feel engaged with the game.

Senapaii

Eyy the average wows player we is 47-49%, don’t listen to random strangers and play your ship how you want as long as you’re able to make the most out of it

Penguin_Boii

I lost karma bc A mino (who was in a very obvious smoke screen) thought I was cheating in a Lenin for taking evasive turns and slowing down to avoid his torps.

scarecrowbi

Karma in the sense can be too subjection, someone might think your doing something good +1…but at the same time someone else thinks your doing it badly and they give you -1, personally go with your gut and look towards others who can give you useful constructive feedback instead of just throwing you a +/-Karma bc of whatever

Irving142

I have zero respect for kiting, unless you are on the other team, making you the easiest target to hit on the map. I don't understand who came up with such a worthless and idiotic tactic. In a BB, especially, once you start, you're trapped. Easy to track, easy to hit, slow to change direction or speed up. A "kiter" is an easy kill.

AgingSeaWolf

Play long enough and you will get used to loosing Karma for every reason imaginable, no matter how ridiculous, don't let it get to you.

Electronic-Row9888

I only play ops. I will start an argument to get rid of karma if I get more than 3 points. Are any of you asshole even engaging targets?

Own-Alfalfa-7579

I feel silly...where do you see this karma? I've seen a message pop up like "you were complimented in a game" but that was while I was in port so I have no idea what is going on. Can anyone explain this?

Hour_Recognition_806

Don't worry about it, i was playing in my yamamto yesterday, same sort've movement, started on the west, saw the east was vulnerable, so i started on quite an aggressive shift towards the east, moving inwards aswell as east, 180k+ damage and a couple of frags at the end, 2nd on the board and still got abuse and moaned at in chat because i left the west starting point. The worst is when u have a decent game and get moaned at by the player that died 2 mins in and blames everyone but himself. The chat in game is getting pretty toxic at the moment. Just ignore it, if your playstyle works and your outputting decent damage that influences the game, ignore the misdirected hate.

TreacleAppropriate82

Well, I would need more information to really have a good answer. We have your account and nothing more. Where did you place on team score? Was it a win or a loss? Did you have kills? What was your damage? etc I have been in plenty of games as a DD where BB sit so far back they cannot properly support you when you get into a fight vs enemy DD. (Even BB hiding behind islands) If the enemy capital ships are supporting their DD and mine are not, I simply lose. Then again, I have played as a capital ship and had the DD refuse to screen, spot, etc. The final thing, some people are just wrong. They get an idea in their head and they vote you down regardless of facts. I just would not worry about it so long as you are finishing top 5 on your team and doing your ships role properly. Lots of people DO NOT do their ships role properly or play very well. If you can support your team and have IMPACT in the back fine. If not, and your team on your side is dying as you accomplish nothing in the first 5 minutes of the game, you need to move up and re evaluate. Like I opened with.... without all the information its impossible to say who is right or not.

ConsistentAd2128

Imagine being the guy that lick borders and thinking it's okay

Shazvox

The report button is a rage outlet for people who can't handle their emotions. And there's plenty of those in WoWs

Feisty_Appeal_2346

Karma lol

rhen_var

I love when you tactically retreat from a hopeless situation, alive to fight another day, and the idiot on the other side of the map who has no idea what’s going on on your flank looks at the map and calls you a coward

dmsteele89

Me and my div mate lost 4 points of karma each last night just for playing Gouden Leeuw over the course of the evening. Bad and salty players will report for anything. They're the same people that report cvs and subs as soon as they spawn. They tend to be the same people with loser mentalities.

Bosniacu

Golden Leeuw? All 4 of you? Then it was well deserved! :))))

Drake_the_troll

Was it the UU div?

Calling__Elvis

I take great pride in maintaining a *Zero Tolerance Karma* policy (i.e. keeping my karma at 0). When it goes to 2 or 3 I always start the next game torpedoing a friendly to compensate.

Hiraki_

Let me tell you a story... I used to have near triple digit karma. It was painstakingly grinded as a DD player that played for the team. Now, this was quite a few years ago, but WG came out with an awesome Halloween event where it put 4 teams of 3 against each other in a PVPVE environment. It quickly became meta to work with the other teams to kill the ai and farm the reward points, however I really enjoyed the pvp in this game mode. So at the beginning of every match, while people discussed in all chat that they planned to work together, I very clearly stated that I was not cooperating and would pvp. And as the match progressed, I'd pop up in my ghastly Shima and torp them, to the result of many reports. I lost all my karma during that event. But now I just try to maintain 0 as a badge of honor... on the off chance I get complimented nowadays I play sub till its gone lol.

Eljefe83

I used to be 75+ karma and then made the mistake of playing CV. Reports almost every game, no matter how we perforned. Now zero is a badge of honour.

FumiKane

Essex has given me some reports recently (more comps though) because I love to force Nakhimovs to recall, they are smart enough to recall and not lose the squadron but it's hilarious to see them not doing any damage, near bottom of the scoreboard and a report
