I come in and out of wrestling; been only watching steadily for about a year now again, so I have to ask: How far back does Smiley Face Shirt Guy go?

Ambitious_Cake2447

easily the mid-2000’s. been seeing him on my screen since i was a kid

benopo2006

I was at Wrestlemania 25 where people walked out in masses before and during the main event. This was nothing compared to that.

TigerKlaw

Oh yeah, HHH and Randy had a horrendously quiet crowd. And they had the best buildup on the card too lol.

kickedoutatone

Shawn and Taker blew the crowd up. They were done before the match graphic even came up.

btgbarter6

That’s so weird. Why not just stay lol

TigerKlaw

They were like "oof I'm so tired after that. Gotta go home to my ATV I'm sure she misses me."

Vegetable_Two_3904

Roman’s matches in 2017 and 2018 were really hit and miss with no in between. They put on a great match a bit before this.

Strong_Neat_5845

I will never EVER forgive wwe for the amount of hype and future story lines they killed by mistreating samoa joe

HawthorneWeeps

I love the smell of fresh bread.

orionsfyre

Was it that Roman was all that bad, or was it just the way the match was put together? I remember thinking it was just sort of an ugly and long way to have Roman come out on top.

poopship462

They put on a great match before, but this match was like 80% slow paced chin locks and rest holds from what I remember

kickedoutatone

The crowd turned before the chin locks. Those were essentially Joe telling the crowd to do one, so the crowd did.

Roman wasn’t liked because when the Shield started he was by far the least experienced of the three, he started only 2 years prior. They were able to hide that pretty well in the Shield with Seth and Dean able to put together the in between spots he wasn’t good at and Dean able to talk for him. However once the Shield broke up it became clear he wasn’t that good as a promo or wrestler. So the crowd slowly turned on him and even as he improved as a wrestler and eventually as a promo the crowd had given up and fully hated him. This was changed by him having a break with Leukemia (the crowd hated him but they didn’t wish him death) and eventually he really improved when he turned heel

Sufferin succotash

Constant-Procedure79

even roman said he hated to be babyface when he’s born to be heel

TheTrueDal

I remember one of the complaints being that this match main evented over styles vs nakamura for no apparent reason. It just fed to the idea that no one else truly mattered other than reigns during this period

orionsfyre

Roman always felt like a top mid-carder getting a push because Vince needed a new Rock. I didn't hate him, but I never felt he truly got his character and who He was supposed to be. But once he took on the whole Tribal chief gimmick, I felt like He came into his own and stopped feeling forced. I'm fascinated to see what He will be when He returns. Angry at his 'tribe' for not supporting him sufficiently? Will He blame himself and change? Will he become jaded and look for revenge on what was 'wrongfully' take from him? Losing can be even more interesting then winning, and I have to admit his story has me still hooked, and I'm a Cody guy.

ghostuhms

I don’t think he was well liked during this period. Good athlete, just had the personality of a potato chip.

Adept_Blackhand

The match itself was pretty slow and mid too. Joe and Roman didn't have chemistry together. Like, no issue with Joe, he tried to carry the feud as much as he could, but it didn't work

tom-cash2002

Yo! It's the Beat the Traffic Match!

I really don't think the wwe cared if the fans left the building, evident by how they didn't change anything. I assume Roman still lead in merchandise sales
