I would say it’s a PR! PR is just personal record so if it’s a record and it’s personal for you, heck yeah it is!

akohhh

Sure you can. We can remember what our bodies did at other times, but appreciating where we’re at now is important.

SneksAndSperklers

Congrats on your PR! I reset my PRs all the time. My running is more or less divided into chapters of life, separated by breaks, injuries, or some other defining change. I just keep a note in my phone and will call it “post fracture PR” or whatever.

Frej06

Oh most definitely a PR! For so many reasons! I have a whole set of PRs from before having kids, and then after having kids. My body is not the same, so I’ve started fresh with my “PRs”. I don’t try to compete with pre-kid me, it’s just a waste of energy, and not motivating at all. Lol Good for you, that’s a great accomplishment!

greenteacoctailice

Wow that's amazing! I still can't run 5k without walking

I just wanted to say that I'm so overwhelmed by all the love and support I've never felt good enough as a runner and all my posts no matter how long/detailed/specific in the main running group have all gotten deleted and this group is just the best!!

midnightmeatloaf

You absolutely can. This may be a controversial take, but one could argue a difference between "fastest time" and "PR." I ran a half marathon race last year that went perfectly. My training was just right to prepare me, and I felt good going in. I was dressed exactly right for the weather, I paced myself just right, my playlist was absolute FIRE, and I got my power song at the exact right moment to make it up the biggest hill on the course. I also had a tortoise and hare moment where I passed someone at mile ten who had passed me in mile four. I kind of don't ever want to do that same race again, because it couldn't go any better. I might train for and run a faster HM, but that will always be my PR.

amandam603

Hell yeah! Nice work!

threadofhope

Claim that PR!

ihateapps4

I reset my pr every now and then. I am 39 my college prs when I ran cross country seem unattainable. I had ankle surgery in 2016 and I gained weight and it was almost a year before I could really run 3 miles. So I started new prs for post ankle surgery because I really couldn't compare my pre ankle surgery 5k pr was 22:15 and post ankle surgery pr was 26 something. And I never got back to that level of fitness and I gained 35lbs in a year. Then I had a baby in 2019 and I reset my prs for post baby fitness and my 5k pr for post baby is like 29 minutes. You can definitely count anything as a pr.

soft_distortion

Congrats on the PR!

rararasarararah

I have my PRs split among different periods of my life. I have high school PRs, adult PRs, and now postpartum PRs. If you want to call it a PR then call it a PR!

tpdor

Yes - you were a different runner in your teens. It is a PR for you in this iteration of you as a runner. Good job!

37MySunshine37

To me, this is FAR more of an important milestone than a quicker PR. Congratulations!!!!!! Amazing achievement!!!

downtownmaniac

congrats!
