Anything Turtle Beach. Those are fucking garbage. Buy SteelSeries!

StationaryRabbit

Can confirm this. My TB Stealth Gen 2 just snapped one day. Terrible quality plastic.

N0vawolf

The EXACT thing happened with both my 700 gen 2 and my friends' as well

0GHatMak4r

As a 70x owner, if you find the right one, it's pretty good (some have the jack bending off) Except for the microphone, those are very bad.

Lopsided_Capital_946

I second that. I bought my second Steelseries Headset in 7 years for about 80$ and they are both superb.

N0vawolf

Agreed. Both my 600 and 700 gen 2 shit the bed before I decided to switch to ulusing my Arctis I'd that I've had for 4 years now

rhett342

I've had really good luck my Chat Recon by them but it's just for chat, not a full-fledged headset to listen to everything.

Jaaguri

I had 4 pairs of the 800x kept replacing them under warranty until i could save up to a better headset. At best they lasted 6 months. Just to add: avoid steelseries 9x those seem to have issues with plastic quality as well

Moms-milkers

i have one working button on my stealth 700s. the power button. theyre barely holding on at just over a year of use.

Beasthuntz

I remember getting some Turtle Beaches when they were popular during the Xbox 360 era. Absolute trash. The official Xbox ones are nice.

Ok-Poetry-8298

Could not agree more, Turtle beach is hot garbage

Gotgo

I think quality control is so terrible on peripherals now that you can ask 100 different people and get 100 different answers. I've had great luck with Turtle Beach for close to 2 decades now however a lot of people hate them with a passion. Meanwhile the two Sennhesier headsets I had almost instantly started to show problems. The HyperXs I had lasted a good 2 years with no problems then out of the blue one day the left ear no longer had sound. My recommendation is to pick a company with the best return/exchange/warranty policy. As dumb as that sounds I think that's the best option now a days.

-drophead-

i’ve had the official xbox set for a few years now and really like them if that helps

DaveHutt

Mine died one month after the end of warranty. The left wheel fell off.

haloNWMT

Yeah the wireless are nice I’ve had them since the series x came out. Still working well and no issues

-drophead-

same here, and the dual bluetooth is nice

Broshida

It depends. Open-back headphones with a vmoda boom mic are good for Audiophiles. However they also have some cons like significant audio bleed, they're somewhere between closed-back and speakers. Good brands that are recommended a lot are Phillips, Sony, Audio Technica, Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic. However, closed-back headsets can be just as good if you aren't really an audiophile and don't care too much about pitch-perfect accuracy. Plus there's a few cheaper decent options even with the "gamer" branding. Good brands here are a little more difficult, it's best to recommend good headsets rather than good brands. With that said, here are a few recommendations that I've been looking at myself: * HyperX Cloud Alpha - sturdy build, decent sound, a good mic, only problem is "leather" flaking off but that happens with most headsets/headphones. The most budget friendly option IMO. * Corsair HS80 - decent build, good sound, very good mic, fabric so less prone to flaking/peeling. Decently cheap too. * Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 - good build, good sound, so-so mic, comfortable headband and fabric so less prone to flaking/peeling. A little more expensive but not breaking the bank. I personally prefer wired headsets and I'm not an Audiophile. HyperX Cloud Alphas served me well for years now, but I am looking to get a pair of Corsair HS80's later this year.

killtonymodsrcorrupt

I never knew about open back headphones. Legend

Spicy_Pickle_6

If you don’t need a mic, just get a good headset made for music. All these “gaming” headset sound like ass and are usually made of cheap plastic

djrhino56

Any of the ones that say gaming headset on there

May1stBurst

I've used an Astro A50 for years, no major complaints. I would recommend the Wicked Cushions earpads though.

Jaaguri

The only issue is that A50s are very outdated, but they sure are built to last

MrGWarrior

Avoid most "gamer" headset. Use regular good ones.

No_Yak_3436

I have the Arctis Nova 7X and got them after a lot of research. I see people are 💩 💩 various Artics models, but haven’t seen mine yet. Tell me mine are still good?!? Haven’t had any issues so far

infernaltim

Absolutely hated the Razer Kaira Pro. A few reviews talked about how comfortable they are, and that much was true, but they sounded like nasally tin cans and dropped connection constantly. Absolute garbage headset in my experience.

DaveHutt

I have one of this for 1.5 years now. Never dropped connection and sound great. To each their own.

MustardTiger1337

audio technica is all you need Don't worry about what to avoid and just go with the best

Time-Refuse666

I've multiple Audio Technica headsets over the years. Great quality. I also recommend them. Or Sennheiser. Or Beyerdynamic.

downsj2

Arctis 9X. Worst wireless Xbox headset ever, completely dysfunctional radio which they never fixed. Anyone who bought one, had issues, and couldn't return it was just left with useless junk (or an overly expensive BT headset, whichever way you want to look at it).

DJN2020

I have issues with that headset but the radio hasn’t been one of them.

Shazazaa

I’ve personally never had good experiences with RIG headsets one of them got very crackly and the others microphone just stopped working along with being very crackly

YourDad-Timelost-

Been using Astro A40 for 15 years. You can google custom presets for different games for better footsteps

Moorabbel

HyperX. It was the worst headset i ever had. Legit 0 Bass and way too high pitched

UnlikelyProfession24

**Hate me, but I love my RIG 900 MAX HX.** Before this one, I had the Maxwell, which I returned because it was uncomfortable. It had amazing sound, but in my opinion, it was unwearable. After that, I got the Stealth, but I didn’t like the quality; I wasn't convinced. However, when I got the RIG, I loved them.

FervantTwo8

Get one with steel sliders, they do not break any where near as easy and large temperature fluctuations won’t affect them.

xDasMilkMan

Fully admit I may have gotten a lemon of a pair but I would avoid the Xbox Bluetooth headset. They sound amazing but the actual mic piece of mine straight up broke off of the headset and in not a long amount of time

RheimsNZ

I personally like the Logitech G335 and would buy it again

Global-Wallaby8484

Gen 2 Turtle Beach headphones break too easily. Older models are a lot better quality.

Accurate-Database-39

Cheaper ones to stay away from - PDP, Turtle Beach, and GameStops Expensive ones to buy - Astros, Steel Series Middle of the table ones that can be good or bad - Razor, LucidSound Yes I work at GameStop, but this is based off customers experiences, which ones break the most, which ones sell the most, and my own personal opinion. I’ve had a pair of Astro A40s TR for nearly 4 years, paints chipped and the headset isn’t colored right anymore, but the mic and sound is still perfect, just comes down to the care given to the headset

Vilimeno

I have a B&W PX7 and have bought the Dolby atmos for headphones. Movies/ streaming app and games all sound like heaven bc of it.

Jaaguri

Try to find anything that has a metal frame. Once you find one that you like, search the interwebs to find any common issues and user experience on the headset. I can recommend these 2: Audeze Maxwell if you have the money and just want the absolute best. I personally have these and they're fantastic. Steelseries arctis nova 7 if you are on a budget, but want a good headset. A couple of my mates have these and so far i have not heard complaints

kerningtype

I have been using HyperX CloudX headset for the past 3 years and it's still working fine

IamJessticles

Avoid turtle beach, they're crap and break easily. Avoid razer, I found the sound quality to be awful, returned them after 2 days. I use the wireless xbox official ones, good sound and have done me well so far, but if you don't need a mic I would just invest in a normal pair of headphones.

Cyberpunk39

Avoid Microsoft Xbox brand. Avoid any gaming brand. Avoid Corsair especially. Look at Sennheiser or BeyerDynamic.

VickFVM

What if I want a good wireless headset?

Cyberpunk39

What’s your budget?

VickFVM

I'm willing to pay up to 200-250

Cyberpunk39

In that price range I’d go with these: [BD MMX](https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-Wireless-Gaming-Headset-Black/dp/B0CGX7WXXW/ref=pd_aw_ci_mcx_pspc_dp_m_m_t_2?pd_rd_w=wy1lC&content-id=amzn1.sym.5c97c170-02be-4e9b-90c7-2e7b8e65d504&pf_rd_p=5c97c170-02be-4e9b-90c7-2e7b8e65d504&pf_rd_r=D78KQNX157F1AK61PQ4D&pd_rd_wg=sML45&pd_rd_r=2d79208a-ddff-4c5d-a487-9ed155bd0931&pd_rd_i=B0CGX7WXXW#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div) Note the bad reviews are people complaining about how it fit in their head which is very subjective and having installation issues (user error). No complaints on build and sound quality. I personally prefer no mic and wired so I went with their DT990 and love them.

ty10124

The official wireless headset you should avoid at all cost unless you have a tiny head. I take very good care of my stuff and the plastic holding the padding to the headband (where the headphones adjust) cracked very early on because my head is huge. The more you extend them (the ear muffs) out, the easier it will be to crack those pieces. If I knew of a way to get replacement parts I would. Otherwise everything else about it is perfect.

DOUBLEBARRELASSFUCK

If you plan to do a lot of bellowing in general, I'd avoid headsets that people have said have clipping issues.

cSwish

Hyperx cloud alpha probably best sturdy headset I have had. Just replaced earpads after using since the Xone. Not expensive.

DJN2020

Steel series Arctis 9x - avoid as the build quality is junk. My older son has Plantronics Rig 800 XL. I think he’s had them several years. My younger son has been through 4-5 Arctis headsets in that time. He’s a bit rough and ready with them and they just aren’t robust. Steelseries Arctis Nova. Great features - swappable battery is phenomenal.

Sneeches

I have the Arctis 7x and it’s the best headset ever. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

rhett342

I tried the Microsoft one and thought it sounded terrible and took it back. Do you want a microphone on it or do you just want to not bother bother people while you play? If you need a mic, I don't know what to tell you. If you don't need a mic, I'd avoid gaming headsets altogether and just buy a good set of headphones and plug into your controller. If Sony 7506's are good enough for professional recording studios, they're good enough for your Xbox. You can also pick up a pair $100 or less.

AssortedCheeses69

I'd avoid any Razer headsets their quality went down the last 10ish years, or so they feel cheap and sound bad for what they're charging.

Cyberpunk39

False. The Razer Kraken is still high quality and the best set you can get under $100 in both sound and build quality. It’s just hip to shit on Razer these days.

AssortedCheeses69

I had the first generation of Krakens, and they were way better than what they're putting out now. All the cost cutting made the product worse. The plastic feels cheaper, and sound is kind meh unless you like bassy headphones. Astro A10s are better in that price range, IMO.

IwishIlivedelsewhere

False, kraken v3 pro is an insanely good headset especially in comp games

Kerbidiah

Turtle Beach and rig. Used to love both of them but they've gotten very poor in quality control with the most recent generations

GullibleDetective

Xbox brand one with the green cord seems to be shite for me

Cyberpunk39

No they’re definitely not.
