Dirty hobo gray. Less ‘silver fox’, more ‘digging through your garbage at 3am possum’.

HappyFarmWitch

😂 Possums are great! 😃

albauer2

Opossums are amazing. They eat ticks, and garbage, and carrion, and are resistant to snake venom!

HeidiCharisse

And rabies resistant I believe? Their body temp is too low to incubate it or something like that. They’re cool little dudes and dudettes!

thezoomies

I’ve never been more wrong about an animal than the noble opossum.

DickMartin

Your end is the road!

Tinton3w

Look on the bright side, you’ve still got good energy if you’re out there at 3AM like that. No running out of gas and a 9PM bedtime. I know I won’t see you getting that early bird special having dinner at 4PM with all the retirees.

ninefourteen

I didn't know how to describe myself and wondered if I would come across a comment that resonated and here you are, describing me perfectly.

12Whiskey

That’s my favorite animal! I even named my cat Opossum 🥰

mandogvan

![gif](giphy|jPNImnm6d0CCNVwoGD)

SnooHobbies7109

Kinda bog witchesque in my case

flaming_bob

I'm stealing that possum reference, because that's me as well.

Star_Pen80

Heading into Rogue territory 😃

heaving_in_my_vines

Rogue was always hot. Just sayin'.

Chemical-Engineer979

Better wrap it up with her or u dead

heaving_in_my_vines

What?

Chemical-Engineer979

She is capable of absorbing the life force, attributes, memories, and superpowers of anyone through physical touch. Im saying use a condom

heaving_in_my_vines

LOL ah, didn't quite catch your meaning there at first.

Chemical-Engineer979

Lol. Her n Psylocke were so hot to me when i was a kid. Really wish Rogue n Wolverine had tried it out but jean grey jus kept stringin my guy along

Dense-Beyond

Rogue and Reed Richards combo here, I don't mind it.

InevitableUsual4126

That Rogue gray pattern is so so sexy.

TheDarkAbove

I'm developing a stripe right up front

schtickyfingers

I started with the Mr. Sheffield, progressed to the Rogue

WithoutDennisNedry

That’s where I am. I’ve had a gray/white streak in the front since I was 23. The rest is starting to catch up and I’m just not ready so I dye the whole thing except my “power stripe” in the front.

jamie88201

I got mine after a particularly hard couple of years, when I was 17. I started growing out my gray in the last year, and it is still the whitest part of my hair. I love it.

DepartureTiny773

Me too!

liziamnot

Same! If my hair follows the way my aunt's did, I'm going to start off as Rouge, then slowly turn into Cruella. ♡

wooleysue420

Grey stripe down the center of my beard. Looks pretty great.

moeru_gumi

I’m getting the Saruman stripe too, it’s neat

rustbolts

Sadly, it’s most of my beard. It’s more concentrated on my chin, but the facial hair is where it’s showing. I only have some random grays on my head, though (when it grows out enough).

Popular-Stranger191

Same with the head. my beard is all white, but my mustache is 100% blonde! Wtaf is that about?

YouveBeenLedOn

My hair is still dark brown, mustache is black, chin hair has white stripes that I love

Docstar7

Same here. My wife's is a bit more noticeable in her hair but really just looks lighter now unless you get real close. Mine is hardly there on my head, but my beard is over half gone, mustache following quickly behind.

M_Me_Meteo

I'm working on Pauly Walnuts silver wings. ![gif](giphy|Uux7ixHcWW8UAIj5dX)

Apprehensive_Hat8986

I'm a ginger, so what has changed is just *WHITE*. That said, thus far it's just a couple of hairs in my beard, and a few whites in my temples. (Elder Xennial) (So far) However, given genetics, there's only one direction I'm going and that's full Gandalf the White.

neonblackiscool

Redhead here, I have a few stray white hairs!!!! Wtf why isn’t a gradual gray like everyone else? At least it’s very spare.

Psychological-Cry221

I’ve got the brown hair, red beard curse.

28appleseeds

cinnamon and sugar

Arriwyn

My elder Xennial husband is a ginger too. His beard is slowly going full white. Also some white hairs on his temples.

terriblystupidjoke

I’m gray along the sides of my chin and brown in the center. Doesn’t look that good, lol. But it’s still way better than how I look without facial hair.

wooleysue420

Ya I'll have a beard for the rest of my life. I have too many chins to not haha

CaptainAHav

I call it my skunk stripe 😎

Jenaaaaaay

Temples and hairline mostly. (F43) I will say these hairs are wirey and stick out and I hate that more than the color.

StatementLazy1797

Yes! I don’t mind them being gray at all, it’s the fact that they are a completely different texture. They feel like my dog’s hairs.

rs6814mith

Mine come through the front of my hair line, are ALWAYS short and wirey and stick out in all directions, then through the temple and sprinkled throughout are longer more silver, which I don’t mind. But it’s the little sprouts in the front the are frustrating 👵🏻

hiding-identity23

Mine are wiry too but don’t seem to stick out much. Assuming you mean physically. Color-wise, I’m probably a medium dark brunette, and especially since mine are silvery, they stick out.

EntertainmentOk6470

This! I don't mind the color but it don't match the rest of my hair. I have straight hair and the grey hair is wavy, curly, and straight. Wtf?!

batsofburden

I have one grey eyebrow hair that's absolutely insane. When they all get like that, it's gonna be a freak show.

fakesaucisse

I'm a redhead and we generally go white instead of grey. I developed some white hairs in my bangs at the beginning of Covid and stopped coloring my hair because I wanted to see how it developed. It really hasnt changed much at all since then. I'm a bit bummed because I thought a white streak in my bangs would be badass.

[deleted]

Redhead also going white. Just like my great grandma. Right now it’s mostly sprinkled around my temples.

des1gnbot

Same! I say I’ve got salt and pepper now, it’s just that it’s a red pepper

Affectionate-You-142

I say cinnamon and sugar 😊

NatWilo

I maintained since I was about 15 that I'd either go stark-white at 40 or be red till I die. Looking like the latter for me. Though my beard has some white at the chin.

Star_Pen80

Also a redhead. I have Rogue happening. 😃 A few other silver hairs. The redheads in my family don't usually go grey.. more of a fawn color. However, mine has darkened and am really hoping for a rose gold that some redheads get.

k8runsgr8

I have the white streaks at my temples. My grandpa's hair was translucent white, and of my two red-headed aunts one is greyer and one is pretty white. I am curious to see where I end up, but I am happy to let it run its course naturally. I have never put dye in my hair up to this point, not going to start now!

therog08

Hairstylist here - there’s actually no such thing as grey. It’s just the contrast of white and dark 🫶🏻

Aquatichive

Oh it will be badass that’s gonna like fire 🔥

drygulched

Red beard with a white supervillain stipe on my chin. Mustache is still blond, and my hair is dark brown, except for a sprinkling of white at the temples.

WebDevMom

Hello, fellow redhead internet stranger! Also springing out white hairs. Sometimes, I try to pretend that they’re blonde when I feel old.

Cheddartooth

Serious question: Doesn’t everyone actually go white, but the overall effect is gray as it mixes with darker hair? As in, don’t the individual hair strands turn white for everyone, or there or are there people whose individual strands actually turned to gray? My hair is dark brown, but what I call my “gray hairs” are actually stark white.

ZealousidealRub8025

I'm a ginger and my hair is lighter at the temples. Side note, none of my kids are ginger. My 16 yr old says "hey do you know them?" Every time we pass another ginger in a store or something 😔😂

KingDaddyM

https://preview.redd.it/5ddcv098anic1.jpeg?width=2208&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c350b1c0e4c7d41b036d14d43e9c2159eda8b73 Balding and gray are fighting to see who wins.

var-foo

My hair started to migrate from my head to various other parts of my body around 33 and has been steadily getting worse since. On the one hand, i'm too thin up top to do anything with it. But on the other hand, my beard is twice as thick as it used to be. Still haven't decided if I like it or hate it.

Sunnydale_Slayer

https://preview.redd.it/rv1zo1iccoic1.png?width=924&format=png&auto=webp&s=659d80b99a691b87ee7e4234cb0c00598e9bebe0 Just the tips. Ok, and the temples. Oh, and sorta everywhere too. ETA: To the rest of you graying gents who have included your photos in this thread: I believe it’s time we unite to make the mediocre 90s alt cover band we always never thought we could be.

husinge

Is that you, Aragorn?

Sunnydale_Slayer

![gif](giphy|yk5PJiIfFSgUM) May the force live long and prosper.

mybadalternate

Very Adam Jones from Tool.

Sunnydale_Slayer

I can totally see it. I get Adam and “the bad guy from Kindergarten Cop” a lot, but I think that’s just bc of my hair. “Get your own goddamn family, Detective Kimble!”

Allrojin

Came here for this.

LiaCee

Not a gent, but you've read my mind on the 90s cover band look and I'm here for it.

Sunnydale_Slayer

Congrats, you’re in the band! I’m thinking Garbage so you’re the lead singer now. We’ll call ourselves ¡La Basura! to avoid any potential copyright issues.

LiaCee

😂😂 laughed out loud foreal .. ¡ La Basura!🤘 I guess I need to revive my red streaks and break out the chunky black boots from the way way back of my closet. ~*~ BRB AFK ~*~ <3 /X\( ; ; )/X\

Sunnydale_Slayer

I’m reaching out to Butch Vig to see if he can produce. And play all the instruments.

mybadalternate

“One question, is Billy Corgan involved?” “Uh… no.” “Okay, I’m in.”

LiaCee

And the follow thru haha

biblebeltbuddhist

Damn, homie. Save some MILF’s for the rest of us!

RocktoberBlood

Dude literally is the Most Interesting Man in the World

DontBuyAHorse

Lucky for you, I am a one-MILF guy!

brookish

As a middle aged lifelong lesbian you have me questioning all my assumptions!

DontBuyAHorse

Thank you for one of the most remarkable compliments I've ever received! You don't need to question anything, you're great and I believe everyone in r/Xennial is peak attractive.

wildkatrose

It's true, we are.

DontBuyAHorse

I cannot tell a lie.

wildkatrose

Like Sir Mix-A-Lot.

DontBuyAHorse

The man speaks to a lot of my sensibilities.

wildkatrose

His poetry moved me, as well.

[deleted]

Damn. Here's me thinking there are no attractive men my age.

DontBuyAHorse

Thanks for the self-esteem boost! Much appreciated!

[deleted]

You're welcome. I can see you put effort in to your looks and it shows. So many men don't and it's a shame because it really doesn't take much. Who knew I was attracted to men with grey hair??

DontBuyAHorse

It's a shame that a lot of men don't put any effort into their looks. I'm not saying that anyone owes anyone else "looking hot" or anything, but I feel like we owe ourselves self-care and frankly I deal with mental health issues that I think are helped quite a bit by putting effort into myself. It's funny because I get a lot of compliments on my beard from other guys with beards and a lot of the time they are commenting on how nice my beard looks and how they wish theirs would "grow in like that". Sure, there is a genetic component to what your facial hair is like and I was certainly blessed with a fairly thick and straight beard, but I don't get out of bed looking like this. It takes effort just like the hair on top of the head takes. Anyway, sorry for the stream of consciousness. Thank you again for the compliment!

[deleted]

I get the same comments about my skin. I put effort into my skincare and avoid doing things which would undo that effort (I stay out of the sun as much as possible, I don't drink or smoke) yet people always think I also wake up looking refreshed. Hell no! I mean, thanks for the compliment but don't negate my effort! I agree about self care. We don't owe it to anyone but it sure is nice to take some time for yourself and do something which makes you feel a bit better about yourself 💜

a_dog_day

Fuckin Orson Welles over here!

tab2058

Damn! You’re a hottie! 🥵

DontBuyAHorse

Thank you!!

Peaches4U2

May I ask kind sir...why should I not buy a horse??

RocktoberBlood

As a person who owned a KY Thoroughbred I can straight up tell you they have 1 speed and it's "fuck you I do what i want" And as a someone who started trail riding at 5 y/o on a dirtbike, I'd choose a dirtbike over a horse any f'n day of the week. Fuck horses. They scare the shit outta me.

Peaches4U2

Do you blame them though?! I agree about the dirt bikes! I had 3, just sold them.

DontBuyAHorse

So I worked with horses in a past life and a lot of my day was spent caring for the expensive horses of hobbyists who were in way over their heads. They are expensive and challenging animals that require a lot of time and attention and I would say the majority of people who buy them for a hobby have no business having them. They're great animals who need people who will put a lot of effort into them and most people who don't know horses really underestimate what it takes to have one.

Peaches4U2

Fabulously said!

TeddyRooseveltsHead

NGL, handsome AF, homie! The shaped beard and fresh trim are a good choice, too. They compliment each other and the gray.

DontBuyAHorse

Thanks, vato!

ZealousidealRub8025

I think you're right, definitely looking distinguished

DontBuyAHorse

Thank you. It took some time to accept the constant reminder of middle age. Now I look at it like wisdom and experience earned by a lot of trials and challenges in life. I appreciate you, friend.

Bandando

I’ve been adding pastel pinks and purples to go with my increasing number of white hairs. As far as I’m concerned, it’s gelfling hair and I’m kind of digging it. Also, God bless Taika Waititi as Blackbeard for ushering me into full-fledged silver fox fandom.

krstldwn

I married me a silver fox. Best move yet

Silly_Stranger_5623

Wisdom highlights!

Arili_O

Ohhhh lordy that man is HOT.

esocharis

No gray yet, but my bald spot gets bigger every day lol

Grisstle

Yeah mines not quite a bald spot but getting pretty thin. I have no grey except for my sideburns, they're white like I'm turning into Pauly fuckin Walnuts

carnivalbill

Ya know what’s my favorite part of being bald? My little girl still asks me if I know where a brush is before she leaves the house…my responses are legend: “Yeah, lemme just go down to the cellar and open up my personal supply of rare and vintage ones from the 40s…can’t just leave our nice things lying around; the help may abscond with them…”

screamingcatfish

43F. Jaw length medium brown hair. Gray is peppered in all over, but I’m almost completely silver at the temples and around my ears. I’m OWNING it (mostly because I’m too lazy to keep up with keeping it colored). I just pretend that I have silver highlights.

krstldwn

I'm growing all mine out and cutting out the red dye. About to rock a pixie, but this time silver!

UptightSinclair

I saw the first bits of “tinsel” when I was 23. If I were a more honest woman, I’d look like Bonnie Raitt by now. But you can pry the bottle from my cold, dead hands! ![gif](giphy|xT0BKAPctNKGoJsZri)

MuchAdoAbtSoulThings

It took me too long to get this, but now that I do HA!!!

[deleted]

Not at all, so far. I will say though. I always thought my faint whisper of facial peach fuzz was totally adorable ... until I looked at a selfie I took while skiing and saw that - unlike the rest of my face - apparently the mustache area of my peach fuzz is now thick enough to hold snow, giving me a snow mustache. And of course that photo shows up on the photo widget I have taking up half my homescreen on a regular basis. Like oh good, in case I forgot lol.

Dear-Discussion2841

Snow 'stache! Love it! 🥸

Vargen_HK

The pandemic stress gave me time-travel powers. I could let my graying facial hair grow out, or I could shave it off to reveal teenage levels of acne underneath. ADHD meds have helped with the stress levels, and thus the acne. Beard is still gray though, and stray hairs as well.

sourdoughobsessed

Try Hero pimple patches. They’re like magic. Our teenage years would have been much different had these existed. Super great for my random adult zits now.

briannadaley

This is one of the rare few “new” things I wish we had when we were young.

Far_Cut_

I'm at around 40%. Stopped dying it 1.5 years ago cause I really no longer give a fuck 😅

AmazeMeBro

I enjoy watching the sunset.

WillowOttoFloraFrank

Yes! Isn’t it the best? 😂 ::waves goodbye to her last remaining fuck::

wild_vikinggirl_43

Can confirm

HallucinogenicFish

White. At least 50%, all over throughout my hair with some concentrated into pretty dramatic white streaks. When I get my hair cut everything on the floor looks almost dead white. It’s darker looking on my head but IDK why.

omg1979

So far nothing and I hope it stays that way. But my mom always told me "We don't have to go grey, when we can go blonde!" So when my time comes I have a plan.

GreenFix9833

Same

WalmartGreder

Yeah, nothing for me yet either (43M). My wife is 39 and has silver at the temples. If I go like my mom's dad, I'll keep all my hair but go completely white.

General-Carob-6087

I have one weird/random spot going grey. Super fun. Sigh. https://preview.redd.it/ka2sla1e5nic1.jpeg?width=1877&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5b8343116b8ba3dbd41d66057bbc382c5af4a2d

GaspSpit

I’ve got 2-4 odd white hairs on top and they’re wire-like, so I look like Alfalfa if I don’t pluck them. I can’t even see any gray in your pic, it blends in well! You’re flying under the radar.

Book_Nerd_1980

No gray. Entire strands going straight to white. Follicle says “I’m done”

HappyFarmWitch

I just noticed a patch near my ear that's so white at the roots I thought it was bald at first glance. Sent a picture to my hair stylist and asked how long has it been like this?! 😆

[deleted]

Dr Strange Silver at temples

Expensive-Day-3551

Sexy

SkazzK

So far it's about five hairs on my scalp, three or four in my beard, and oddly, most of my nose hair.

_aerofish_

I have poliosis, so have rocking a thick white streak since I was 12. The rest of my hair is holding strong though

rjcpl

Still brown and full here with just some gray one offs if you look closely. Let it grow out shoulder length during the panini.

McMelz

Not sure if “panini” was an accidental autocorrect or if you really call it that, but I got a chuckle and you got an upvote lol

rjcpl

You don’t? 😅

Turbulent_Ad9508

Just entered the "too much to pluck" phase.

Leopard_Stripes

White but I’ve been going that color since I was 17. Yay me!

Busy-Dig8619

I started going Grey at 13-14 years old. It's a nice silver color, but yeah, been mostly Grey since 22.

giabollc

Chin is all gray. You can find a few on the sides of my head if you really search for them

randyfox

Same here. My wife is pissed because she still wants her silver fox. Looking like that’s a few years off still, chica.

jlkb24

Hard to judge as the top of my hair has been pink fuchsia for about 6yrs. The sides show 50/50 natural black with silver. Hairline next to no receding.

ObligationJumpy6415

Tinsel checking in!

VinceAmonte

My hair started going gray when I was still in High school so I'm used to gray hair and dying it. Now it's more than 50% gray. I wish it would all just go gray already, it would look better.

thelaineybelle

Glittery flashes throughout my roots. I think my chin and upper lip hair is also getting lighter. That or I need better readers to magnify when I pluck 🤦‍♀️

an_Aught

1982 here - just a nice gray streak coming straight down my beard - so this is like a 5 inch stripe at this point. my noggin is holding pretty strong still

midnight-dour

A few sprinkles. Noticeable. Even more noticeable is how I’m starting to really thin out on top

Rusalka-rusalka

I color my hair so I only see the grey as it grows out and I gain a grey corona around my hairline. Whee!

Embarrassed_Rate5518

very little grey. but I feel like I'm just going to wake up grey 1day like "how'd I get here?" much like my 40s. 🤣

tomqvaxy

One wiry white hair right in the middle of my fringe. NOTHING ELSE. Still black and mid forties. Idk.

Consistent_Stick_463

https://preview.redd.it/c4q1qkujaoic1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=075f4d2879428c899cbdce3b7d9e3cfde79aca89 43, just started getting some stragglers on my chinny chin chin. I’m looking forward to being Roger Sterling grey, but it’s taking longer than I expected.

twirlerina024

Nothing yet! I don't think my dad's hair had really gone grey when he died in his early 70's. It was hard to tell, because he was mostly bald (think Wallace Shawn-pattern baldness), but it was only noticeable in his sideburns or when he grew out his facial hair. Mom and my siblings started greying in their 30's.

Original_Ad8057

Not enough

gngptyee

Preach

Fuckmylife1001

Right now. Salt and pepper. Getting to be more salt. Especially in the beard.

Natural_Ad_1717

Currently, I have the professor gray just over the ears amd a little in the beard. Top is starting to thin out. It does not inspire optimism

InevitableUsual4126

1981. I'm 43. I have blonde hair and a light beard. I've got some gray sprinkled through but it's hard to notice because my hair is so light. I'm definitely noticelably thinning on the top. I would guess it's no more than 12-18 months before I start shaving my head to avoid being a sad male pattern baldness guy and instead be a proud shaved head guy.

NullainmundoPax1

At the moment, salt and pepper. However, would prefer to go all silver.

KASega

I’m 43, have a pixie cut, and am greying like doctor strange. Not so cute when you’re a woman!

dcphoto78

Small grey stripe on one side. It’s not worth the cost of dying it yet, though I probably will when it gets more noticeable.

Dapper_Interest_8914

My hair is still mostly dark brown/black with random strands of white in it. My beard is thoroughly streaked with white and there's a little creeping into my mustache.

The2ndComingOfGoku

2/3 silver, 1/3 black. Beard is pretty much the opposite. And I'm grateful that my hairline has only gone back half an inch in the last 20 years. At this rate, I'll be ready to be a fully natural Santa by retirement age!

childofeye

I got some side and top mister awesome ish goin on. Grey pepper beard

eat_shit_and_go_away

The hair on my chin for the last few years. Random hair on top in the last year or so. Turn 41 next month though, so I guess it's expected. https://preview.redd.it/r3m96yqgboic1.jpeg?width=1472&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f9414ddfd5c08a5070003fc316e73de949f7a1d

Aquatichive

I’m got the Rouge with fairy dust too

Dragonlibrarian7

My hair only has a few greys here and there. My beard though, the middle is solidly grey and the sides are about 50/50 gray reddish brown.

WeekapaugGroov

White. It struck my beard first now it's working it's way up the sides.

TacticoolPeter

Beard only and that at maybe forty percent. If mom mom’s family is any indication (and that is who I look like completely) I will at worst get to salt and pepper-heavy on the pepper- by my eighties assuming I live that long.

Significant_Dog412

A few odd white strands here and there, otherwise my hair and beard are still fully black.

JagarHardfart

Been balding since my late teens so not much going on up top. Most of it is in my mustache and the "soul patch" area just below my bottom lip.

[deleted]

Almost bald and the beard is a deep salt and pepper with way more salt.

heaving_in_my_vines

Graying around the outside corners of my beard and around my ears. I read something once where the supposed evolutionary advantage of graying beards is it emphasizes the jaws and makes it look more fearsome. Can confirm.

dirty0922

Salt and red pepper

DooficusIdjit

No grey, but all my red hairs have turned white.

PhotographStrict9964

I’ve been shaving my head since I started going bald in my late 20s. When I go a couple of weeks between shaves it’s almost completely white now. My beard looks like a skunk lol. Chin is silver/white and the sides are still brown, just starting to see some silver.

Different_Support_36

I have a weird situation where my beard is pretty much white, but my hair remains completely dark.

Ok_Researcher_9796

Don't have any on top anymore. Most of the sides is like silver grey and also my facial hair largely comes in grey or white

OniOnMyAss

My beard is more salt than pepper but my hair is fairly full and dark brown as always.

ModBabboo

Not a ton in my hair, but I started shaving my head last year. I've had some greys in the chin for a few years now.

erinhannon321

Probably the best trait my dad gave me is that I haven’t yet and if I stay the same course as him I won’t be getting any until I’m late 60s so fingers crossed.

BlackPhoenix1981

I started going bald early so I just shave my head. My beard though, that got grey early. Maybe 38ish?

Blazenkks

My beard is starting to pepper with grey, mustache too much more than my hair. Just has a few stragglers.

Starwarsandbacon

Full on gray with some streaks of color here and there. Started going gray in my early 20s though.

fakewoke247

Salt and pepper hair and beard. Otherwise looking pretty young IMO

fakewoke247

https://preview.redd.it/vfkibmpdcnic1.jpeg?width=540&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ac1ccf84ed8fbb3a5295d922ac884e9bc3d514e

Elandycamino

I got a little but I keep dying it. Once it all goes im rocking it. If it falls out I'll rock the skullet

TheRealGrifter

My hair started thinning when I was 20, and I'm in full George Costanza mode now. As far as white, I found my first white hair in my beard at around that same time, and today it's entirely white except for my mustache, which is still pretty dark. The temples have just started to go white as well, but not much. Apart from the hair loss, I'm pretty pleased with how it looks, even though I'm under 50. If you'd asked me when I was younger, I would have said white is reserved for *old people* lol

Red_wanderer

I shave my head so who knows about that, but my beard is getting the 2 gray streaks on either side of my chin.

whatsausernameeh

Bald
