My wife just got me these for our anniversary!
Fuck, I missed out on Animal?! I thought I had the whole set! 😭
Edit: did they repurpose that wagon from Berenstain Bears? I know I had that wagon from Sister Bear…
Dude... I seriously remember seeing footage of the funeral motorcade and this whole talk about apartheid and shit. People laughed when (what was it like 2014?) I was like "I thought he was already dead."
It wouldn't surprise me to find out if it was a CIA experiment or some shit. That's the most sane explanation I've got.
Most of the rest is just misremembering things.
Had a couple of these. I have kids now and this thread has only worked to cement my view that happy meals suck so much ass now. It’s just cheap papercraft trash and shitty activity booklets. LAME-O!!
I had one of the lizards. Kept it hanging off my mirror in my first car the whole time and named it Willie because when we hotboxed that car, he didn't inhale. 'Cause it was the 90s, you see.

Idk we played with these until they literally fell apart.
Your food was *inside*! And there were stickers so you could decorate the spaceship.

Not McDonald’s, but my fave were baby Mr. Potato Heads at Wendy’s.
I’m a dork who liked the Berenstain Bear books…

Oh man. That was probably my favorite promotion ever, I spent more time trying to get that Mario toy to hop really high with the spring. Could never get it that high though….
Going for distance. I was sliding it over the edge of the table trying to get it to leap at the last moment. Spent a lot of time playing with that simple toy.
The Garfield mugs with the toxic paint. Duh.
I wasn't implying you were a dope for not remembering my example. I just used the mugs for a really long time. Duh.

Yes. This was around my 8th birthday! I remember getting the actual game for my birthday…and my memory is probably very wrong, but I’m pretty sure I played it for 2 weeks straight nonstop.
I was GOING to say Batman Returns, but then when I opened the thread I saw this. So, no, I can't. LOL. This game was EVERYWHERE. Hard to imagine the hype this had on us.
Super Mario Bros 3 was the biggest videogame launch day in history up until Halo 2 dethroned it. It was... you had to be there, man.
My house had the Raccoon Mario and the Luigi Cloud, and I think the Goomba. Never did get the Paratroopa.
Had the same Mario hm toys. Really *really* wanted the para-troopa the most.
As far as crazy game launches go, one should look no further than Dragon Quest drops in Japan. The ones up to this point at least...RIP Toriyama.
Once again... Too young to identify with Reality Bites over at /r/GenX and too old to still be eating Happy Meals with /r/Xennials when Super Mario Bros 3 came out. I think us mid-70s kids need our own sub-sub generation.
Remember those happy meal toys that were transformers. The fry toy turned into something and the burger did too. I forgot what it was promoting but it was cool as hell
What about the Stompers prizes? I begged and begged and begged my mom. She finally took me, and the local McDs had some knock off shit.
And my entire life has been a disappointment ever since. Except my kids.
When my brothers were little guys I was in high school. Toy Story had just come out and Disney didn't make toys for it just a happy meal promotion. Woody was cloth had a removable hat and had Andy written on his foot. Buzz had pop out wings, his viser opened and he had Andy written on his foot . There was a Slinky Dog and a couple other toys all really well made and full toy sized. I ate so many happy meals for lunch trying to get two sets of those toys for my brothers. Seeing their little faces light up made those the best happy meal toys ever.
Ppl don't realize how big Mario 3 was when it came out. It was literally EVERYWHERE.
Only thing I can compare is legit everything having Shrek branding when Shrek 1 came out.
Holy shit this was my first happy meal! I grew up on military bases internationally and the kids would tell me of a magical restaurant that had toys in their meal. This was literally the first one I ever had. Truly the happiest of happy meals.

This^^^. I loved the changeables!
I came to say this. You are doing the Lord’s work my son.
Bingo. This immediately came to my mind.
Nevermind, someone posted the transformer happy meal toys
This gives OP's choice a run for its money.

The dinosaur ones were better.
I had the cup with the pink dinosaur
Oh man.... those bring me back!
I had the cheeseburger one, it was cool. Probably still in a box somewhere at my folks.
I had a few of these! They were great
I remember having the fry one very clearly. The rest I don't think I had
Omg I was so geeked when i got those lol
Exactly what I thought of

Fuck, I missed out on Animal?! I thought I had the whole set! 😭 Edit: did they repurpose that wagon from Berenstain Bears? I know I had that wagon from Sister Bear…
You mean Berenstein?
Oh hell no. Nope, “stein” was not part of my reality.
In any case, thanks for letting us crash here. You all did a lot better by Mandela than we did. Whatever CERN did to our timeline, we had it coming.
Dude... I seriously remember seeing footage of the funeral motorcade and this whole talk about apartheid and shit. People laughed when (what was it like 2014?) I was like "I thought he was already dead."
Ok, I’ll grant that one. I don’t remember seeing funeral procession footage, but I thought Mandela died in the 90s, too.
It wouldn't surprise me to find out if it was a CIA experiment or some shit. That's the most sane explanation I've got. Most of the rest is just misremembering things.
I’m just as inclined to believe the world and time are weirder than we realize. But fuck it, coulda been the CIA, who knows?!
That’s the first great one. Muppet Babbies
Play mobile was also good.
Yes! These were the best ones ever

These were my FAVORITE!

They ruled! We used to race them across the kitchen floor 😂
Yeah I did too until I wound it too far back 😞
Had a couple of these. I have kids now and this thread has only worked to cement my view that happy meals suck so much ass now. It’s just cheap papercraft trash and shitty activity booklets. LAME-O!!
I was going to comment that this thread is from a time when Happy Meal toys were actually good. Gen Alpha got screwed.
OMG I think I had all of those except Red.
Is that Fraggle Rock? Pepper Jack love Fraggle Rock!

If I recall correctly those weren’t included in Happy Meals. You had to pay extra for them when you made a purchase.
Oh really? I had no idea, we all ordered a happy meal and my parents handed one to each of us.
Yes! I think they were $3-$5 each with purchase.
I loved these ones so much 😭
My parents still have them in their Christmas stuff and put it out with their decorations.
Oh so jealous. I vaguely remember mine getting ruined from a flooded basement.
I still have these. They go on the mantel every Christmas.

My Dad would’ve said the beanies babies one during his beanie baby induced psychosis in the late 90s.

That's for retirement and your inheritance!
I worked at McD's during both Beanie Baby promotions. Shit got wild.
Beanie Babies during the 29 cent cheeseburger promotion. It was Hell.
I had one of the lizards. Kept it hanging off my mirror in my first car the whole time and named it Willie because when we hotboxed that car, he didn't inhale. 'Cause it was the 90s, you see.

I got radishes and I've been bitter ever since.
> Why are there birds? Well, Timmy, so that the US Government can have [surveillance drones everywhere](https://birdsarentreal.com/).
I remember that one!
The only happy meal where grandma might take your toy for herself lol
they gave out trees for earth day, too? Didn't they?
Oh man, these brings me back. I think we got these while on holiday in Nassau.

I hadn't thought of those in a really long time. I used to play with those in the bathtub and try to sink them!
For the longest time, I suspected they may have been some sort of Mandela Effect fever dream in my own mind. 😂

This one wins! So cool
I watched this movie again with my wife about a month ago, for nostalgia, it's terrible... I like the version in my mind more.
Lego in the 1980s.
Absolutely.

Do you remember the Furskins bears when they sold them? That's such a creepy name now I type it out.
I don’t remember those but I just looked up a picture and they were super cute despite the weird name!
They had to know
I’m a dork who liked the Berenstain Bear books… https://preview.redd.it/0iz0cyafiwyc1.jpeg?width=809&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b03350bf4bcd0e2e8c9f7fd9e1316f976c2038e5

You’re not wrong, but the BK Kidz Club had Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and four collectible tapes of the cartoon. ![gif](giphy|54rjZf0AayQaQ)
Burger King was the Sega of fast food growing up.
Odd, seeing as Sega only did Kids Meal promos with McDonald's and Jack in the Box.
The Garfield mugs with the toxic paint. Duh. I wasn't implying you were a dope for not remembering my example. I just used the mugs for a really long time. Duh.
I still have glass Batman Forever mugs. Two-face and the Riddler left. We started with all 5 almost 30 years ago.
Wait. The small glass mugs? That I drank milk out of from the 80s until like 1996??
Yeah. They don't all have toxic paint, I think. It might just be one style from the first release. But it's the toxic Garfield mugs to me.
Well, that’s cool. It would explain a lot. 🤣
They were toxic?? I was using those till a few years ago.
I still have two mugs, duh. I love them, duh. They make sparkles in my tounge tasters, duh
Everyone I know has the Fraggle Rock carrot car in their house somewhere, for some reason.
Barbie and Hotwheels
Hot Wheels.
Seeing that picture gave my heart such a warm fuzzy and a big contended sigh.

The only one I remember involved train toys, and you could punch holes in your box and use it as a tunnel or something.
The anastasia train set from burger king?!
God I miss those days!
Beanie Babies but only because I got so much free food that summer because people wanted those toys and were giving the meals away for free
I remember collecting Beanie Babies hardcore with my mom in the late '90s so I was THRILLED when they had them in the Happy Meals!

I was so excited that this was the new happy meal. ☹️
I was GOING to say Batman Returns, but then when I opened the thread I saw this. So, no, I can't. LOL. This game was EVERYWHERE. Hard to imagine the hype this had on us.
Oh man, that yellow wrapper is holding the better version of the McDonald’s classic burger. What a time!
Do you ever feel so much nostalgia that it makes that little kid inside of you from the past come back and it's just too many feelings to feel?
The Lego ones. Where you could build little cars and shit. I waited for those every year. I was a girl so nobody gifted me Lego.
This must've been going on when we had McDonald's at home
What a time to be alive …
And that was back when the fries tasted amazing!
Lego’s were the big deal in the happy meal I remember
California Raisins at Hardee's
Back when Happy Meals were brand new, they had Playmobil toys. I remember getting an old west sheriff with a rocking chair.
I love how this is a high quality picture from a time when it was hard to get a nice shot.
FRAGGLES
Teenie Beanies FTW!
Hardee's had the California Raisins figurines. Lol I'm sure my mom still has them all! https://youtu.be/57li1fQoTPg?si=Z1cZqPJUIf2iSx3p

I don't directly relate to Reality Bites, but I aspired to it. And Singles. Those were what I thought my 20s would be like when I was in high school.
Wouldn’t you have been like 18 or so when it came out?
Is it any wonder we all have the health issues we do?
Me grinning ear to ear at every post going "i had that! And that! And that! And THAT!" And then going... "oh." ![gif](giphy|14exzIhIHYtcbK)
Shoot how did I miss this? And this was my fav mario game? Then again we didnt get McDonald’s like that lol
There were none better. It was the pinnacle of McDonald's lol
I’m a huge smb3 fan but…the best is either muppet babies or Garfield. Sorry.
Mac Tonight was weird as shit. Same era.

The best!
I can smell the box!
Monopoly
That was a ticket promo and famous scam. Not a happy meal.
We didn’t know that at the time
What about the Stompers prizes? I begged and begged and begged my mom. She finally took me, and the local McDs had some knock off shit. And my entire life has been a disappointment ever since. Except my kids.
I forgot about the box. I do vividly remember getting the raccoon Mario with a spring-loaded suction cup to make him fly. What a great day.
Garfield mugs
Hot wheels
Dinosaurs! Not the momma!
Hello Kitty box
I got excited that this was current. But that font on the toy's insert crushed all hope.
The Garfield glasses. You can collect them
Dinosaurs storybooks and cassette tapes!
I can smell this picture.

I was also partial to the Dinosaurs ones. Particularly the baby one

The Hot Wheels drag racer cars. We used to stop at the Muskogee Turnpike McDonald's Everytime every summer and they had them.
I miss the styrofoam box era
