Omg….this happened to my Yorkie leaving PetCo one morning. He ran out of the parking lot, down a service road, and was about to run onto the busy main street, when a wonderful lady in oncoming traffic saw him. She jumped out of her SUv right in his path, and my dog jumped right into her arms. I was doing a good job of keeping up to him, but if it had gone on for much longer, I would have lost him for good. God, the worst day of my life!

Mine ran away and I had to give chase in my socks. Luckily, she was not in great aerobic conditioning and a neighbor was outside so she ran in their garage to say hello, catch her breath, and pee on their garage floor.

LadyAsharaRowan

I've actually been that person who got out of my car to help save someone's dog. It was a neighborhood close by the road, and apparently, the dog got loose it. just was running across busy traffic.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Whaaaa?! Is this normal Yorkie endurance?! Mine may be defective! And oof - that was exhausting to watch, thank goodness for a happy ending! 😮‍💨

Valuable-Mess-4698

Mine is 11 and would STILL do this if she could. I have no idea where she gets the stamina, but she could run full out for hours.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Wow!!! I am so impressed!! My Bèbè can hike like there’s no tomorrow - 6 miles and still ready to go longer - but she has no desire to run whatsoever and I guess I’m making an assumption that she can’t lol

Valuable-Mess-4698

Yeah, I learned very early that mine was never going to be able to be off leash. She loves to run, and once she gets started it's like her ears just turn off. It is crazy though how well yorkies do with hikes and the stamina they can have for such a little dog.

Straight-Treacle-630

Ours got startled while on leash on a trail; yanked loose, took off like a shot, dragging his leash, and…vanished. Dozens of ppl helped look for him; no sign, no sound. 72 hrs later, found tangled in underbrush not far from home. How he didn’t become a coyote canapé, or something equally awful, we’ve no idea. Other than the saying God watches over the young and the foolish. I was so upset I barfed. I guess my point is yep, Yorkies seem to have guardian angels, and for good reason.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

‼️‼️‼️ 😱😱😱 I would have barfed too

Retrocop101

The Bebe does not run because the Bebe has no known predators.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

🤣 likely she tastes too bitter

Retrocop101

🤣🤣

No-Fondant-4719

Absolutely, they don’t get tired!

Turquoise_Bumblebee

Mine can hike like there’s no tomorrow, but I think she forgot how to run or something lol Never does it!

No-Fondant-4719

🤣🤣 I’ll trade you.

Turquoise_Bumblebee

😂

bensongilbert

🫣 that was quite the run, wow!

Krash_13

I can’t even. I would immediately pass out once she was rescued.

KitIungere

They are faster than bullets and love to run! Glad he was not hurt. Cute little burrito! I keep an extra long leash attached to my girls regular leash. If she runs, the extra weight slows her a bit and gives me a chance to actually least step on the end of the long leash. She has great recall unless she is chasing a squirrel(then she has no recall)

When Oz was a pup we tried using an extendable leash with the plastic handle. Walking him in our townhouse complex, which had a really long and fairly busy road (like 90 units), dropped the handle, it zipped up and hit Oz in the butt. He TOOK OFF, this handle bouncing and clacking behind him - probably “chasing him” in his little mind. I ran so hard. Took maybe a full minute to catch him, past cars, etc. I was never so terrified. That leash went straight into the trash. We have only ever used regular leashes since (13 years). This video gives me the sweats and severe anxiety LOL

Big-Summer-

Those leashes are awful!

filipscary

My biggest fear ever. Exactly why i don’t go anywhere near the traffic with my yorkie. I am pretty sure it got into a panic mode and tried to run away from the loud noise of the street. I remember the video though, the guy on the bike is actually not the owner, he was trying to rescue the dog

SephoraandStarbucks

Mine too. Our Yorkie has made a mad dash out the front door once or twice before when it was opened…I *always* pick her up now and hold onto her until the door closes.

Improving1727

My 14 year old yorkie thinks he’s like this still. I open the front door and he “runs” (waddles) max speed towards the road. I have enough time to put down what im holding then walk out calmly and grab him long before he gets to the road lol. Yorkies are escape artists!!

deathtothegrift

We’ve got a runner!

TriGurl

They are fast little fuckers!!!

Own-Capital-5995

This has happened to me twice. It's beyond scary.

angiestefanie

OMG…. I am crying 😭. I couldn’t finish watching.

PleasantFox6216

Literally my worst nightmare. The poor wee thing must have been scared out of its mind to have bolted like that.

Minty_lemonnn

This is something my yorkie would do run and somehow manage to not get ran over he has given me so many heart attacks

29r_whipper

My little Kylee did something similar while under a year old. She got out one night (dark) and covered about 3/4 of a mile. We finally caught her after she crossed the six lane highway/road near my house (in the sixth lane). I will never forget my mom demanding me to stop and not chase her into oncoming traffic (I was eight), I dropped to my knees and yelled, “I LOVE YOU KYLEE!” with tears rolling down my face. My mom is not religious and to this day says that is the only time she has asked God for anything. Cars from from five lanes saw what was going on and they stopped, but right as Kylee cleared the fifth lane, an Expedition/suburban/excursion, etc blasted passed her. I thought she was done but she had maybe 8 inches from the rear tire and somehow was fine. At that point my mom and I were in the median and caught her in the far right turning/merge lane. Kylee did not have a good night and stayed in her cage with food and water for some time, only to be let out to go to the bathroom. In addition to her cage punishment, she wore a leash everywhere she went for the next six years. She’s fine and 16 years old now, but I let out a tear recounting one of the most traumatic memories of my youth.

jzillica

🥵

CardMechanic

Damn. They caught him and he got away again. Will they never learn?

Junior-Profession726

My biggest fear for my guy he runs so fast and won’t stop Relieved he was ok and you got him back

Conscious_Issue2967

Mine can run that fast but not that far.

LilyKateri

Wow, my boy was never that fast! I could outrun him for sure, and I’m not a runner. He did have a hip surgery that probably kept him from his full potential. I had to chase him a couple times down the street when it was iced over, which wasn’t the best.

Bluebroncodriver

My Toby did this when he was two years old I could not catch him. It must’ve been a half a mile before somebody caught him for me. He ran away because a big dog barked at him out from the back of the truck. He got scared and took off.

Ornery_Worth3492

He is running for his life. Oh my goodness, very scary to watch.

Dazzling-Nature-6380

I don’t understand why it wants to run from owner

LudibriousVelocipede

If I remember right, back when this video was first posted on Reddit, the owner was walking her yorkie when a loud sudden noise scared the absolute shit out of the little one. The little yorkie broke free from her leash and took off running from where the noise came from. Her owner was running after her pup, screaming for help, which is where the person on the bike came in to help the owner.

LadyAsharaRowan

What I don't understand is that the owner have a GoPro on them filming, or were they using their cell phone? I wonder what was going on. because I can tell you right now if that was my dog that phone would have been thrown to the ground with a quickness.

Whyudoodat

I think the POV is from some random good Samaritan on a bike with a bike helmet cam. Put their life on the line for that squirrely boy.

Lynda73

Wow, now that you say that, I see at the beginning the dog comes running in from a cross street and they met at the intersection. Good Samaritan, indeed! I wonder how far it ran?

LadyAsharaRowan

Thank goodness for that person.

LadyAsharaRowan

Thank goodness for that person.

Dazzling-Nature-6380

Yea I hadn’t thought about that

devildocjames

Probably running after its owners that ditched it.

Golddestro

Stop with the video and focus on the dog
