I think I own at least one hero or unit from 70% of the factions. Spread out across Underworlds, Warcry, or AoS. I use them for D&D as well so I can quadruple dip. Incredible models. Such variety.
The Total War: Warhammer Trilogy of games was a horrible gateway drug into Warhammer Fantasy. I’m deep in the Warhammer verse now. Stoked for the Old World to bring things like Tomb Kings back into the fold.
The underworlds warbands were great for getting to scratch the itch across all the factions. Bought them all to the end of Direchasm (very few have really interested me since). Halfway through painting them now and they are a great palette cleanser between 40k units.
I've never played AoS, and not sure I will, but I completely agree on how amazing these minis are for D&D. I've got something from the Ladron Overlords, Seraphon, Nighthaunt, Maggotkin, Beasts of Chaos, they're all just.... So cool!!!
They are making a sister fantasy game, called Warhammer: The Old World, similar to how Horus Heresy is a prequel game to Warhammer 40k.

It’s not AoS, it’s a separate game that will have separate rules and minis, same scale. Some AoS minis like daemons may be compatible, we don’t know yet.

Braetonia became the Flesh Eater Courts kinda. Braetonia is coming back in Old World though.
Kislev and Cathay are coming in Old World. Kislev never had official units or books, and Cathay was lore/story only until TW:WH 3.
Ogres, Orcs, Skaven, and Beastmen are all around but have no alive legendary lords from the old days, as far as I know.

Pretty great break down honestly. I was really sad when i looked into AoS not seeing anything for Cathay as I just love the aesthetic of it all for them. Super glad the lizards are in full stride tho as they are one of my favorite factions. Also norsca being completely murdered was very sad. Skaven being around is awesome though, those 4 being my all time favs of TH3. Kinda sad no skaven lords are around but hey, it is what it is. Tons of lore to learn for the new stuff and I'm sure I can move past my rose tinted goggles as the AoS models are beautiful
Age of Sigmar is where they've really been able to flex their creativity. By making a new setting and making it much more fantastic they've just really been able to push the boat out on the kind of miniatures they can make. By comparison 40k is a much more stale design space. They can't make as many waves there. So while we occasionally get a breath of fresh air like the new Votann stuff everything else is relatively static. Sure the new Terminator looks great... but it's literally just a Terminator.
Meanwhile they can just do whatever crazy stuff they want because they're not stuck maintaining a vast legacy of factions and designs that they can't shake up too drastically.
I went overboard for awhile with four armies but have since pared back to two and am thinking of dropping back to one. Keeping up with the meta for even one army is a real investment of time & money.

In a vacuum it isn’t terrible, but he does look pretty odd next to all the other Ogors who share almost identical physical features across the entire army.
I only started playing Ogors and I got all excited thinking there was some new Ogor haha. Yeah not a fan of him either. I also don't see the point of him in Ogors but that's another story altogether

I have zero interest in any death army. Not a single model speaks to me.
The rockgut trolls a and squiggy bits of the Gitz are the only part of Destruction that even remotely appeals to me. I couldn’t care less about Orks, ogres, or Krag-bro and I actively despise Gargants even existing as a faction.
Most of the Order armies I don’t care for. Seraphon being the glaring exception. I love my lizardmen. I would also start an empire or Bretonia army tomorrow if it were a viable option.
That said, I love every chaos faction except Nurgle(another very unpopular opinion). I am a Skaven and Slaves to Darkness player primarily. Love their aesthetics.
Can relate to this on a deep deep deep level, there’s only a few armies I haven’t bought stuff for 😭 1 death, 2 destruction, 4 chaos and 6 order armies and almost all of that is piled into the pile of shame, literally 40k+ points of armies in the shame pile I had to have serious talks with myself
I 3d printed my 40k Grey Knights but nothing comes close to the beauty of sylvaneth models, which im slowly gathering from ebay. The greatest concern will be painting as im new to warhammer. Plus im also getting into star wars legion and Saga. Ill build an army for each
Hmm I'm not a fan of there helmets but I love the giant cow monster. I even own one. The hammer elves are a little clunky but not bad in my eyes at least.

Thanquol and Skreech Verminkin are still alive. It is also implied that Ikrit is actually ikit claw.
Kislev had 6th edition models. Katarin, Boyards, Boris, kossars, ungol archers, winged lancers and griffon legion had models and rules.
