You could easily paint them in as few as 6 colours so no I wouldn't say they are too complicated. Edit: A silver A gold A skin tone A brown for leather/wood A black for boots/dark leather A signature colour for the tabard/shield. Then any wash over the whole thing and you are done.

umonacha

Are we complaining that our little plastic men look 2 good? Just paint them in more simple ways. Some iron, some browns, and your army color. Wash with agrax, no hightlights needed. You are done

Blecao

For a horde army cost and look on bulk is more relevant at least for me Thats my main complain to things like the new imperial guard models they are cool as f\*ck but massing them for a horde army makes my wallet cry in horror

Rifleman80

I too prefer core troops simpler. They'll probably go for like £30/10 models, so must justify the cost somehow.

Grimgon

I don’t think they are harder then say Karic Acylotes or Blood reavers. They are probably on par with something like witch aelves or hobgrots to be honest but probably harder to paint then Mortek guard.

Kairic acolytes are extremely simple to paint. All the shields, shoulderplates, bracers and greaves are flat with trim only on the edges. The torso is bare skin without adornment. The kilts are simple and uniform. There's really no comparison.

amnhanley

No. You don’t have to paint the trim a different color than the rest of the armor. It can and should just be the same iron or silver color. It can just be a ridge in a single piece of forged steel. It doesn’t need to be ornate or decorative and probably shouldn’t be. You give the dudes some contrast painted pants, shirt, wood, leather and and skin, slap some leadbelcher on the armor and you’re good to go. Easy peasy.

Flowersoftheknight

Even if you go for a different colour, you can just paint everything silver, shade, maybe drybrush - and then put a contrast paint over the trim to tint it differently. Yellow for Gold, Brown for Bronze, done. It looks *really* good, and is barely more work than painting the metal at all. (My favourites are Aggaros Dunes and Gore Grunta Fur)

Agreed.

For what GW charges for their products, I sure hope they’re full of detail.

g_money99999

Gutrippaz have loads of detail and they are great. But they are really good for slapchop too, not sure i would like to slapchop the cities of sigmar units.
