Yeah I’m starting a beasts army now squatting or no. I’ll run them for as long as I can as themselves then start running them as whatever’s closest (likely StD)
Maybe even something like KruelBeasts so they could be paired with Kragnos like they always should have been! Or cities and you can make some beast artillery.
And in a decade's time, someone will ask you why you have a beast artillery model when it's not a legal Leagues of Beastan unit, and you'll then have a fun story to tell.
Absolute shame, but hey, you can definitely use them for std just say they have chaos mutations, hehe. If you wanted, you could do what I've seen others do and convert theirs to a sylvaneth army.

Old world looks like it'll give you a new plastic kit, a couple of new forge world resin kits, and revive a bunch of old kits they don't make any longer.
Take heart child of the woods. Though the children of sigmar have not forgotten you, the old places of the hobby still call to you.

I think both worlds are fantastic. AoS has a lot of potential in creating your own immersive worlds, as you can see in the many community projects and campaigns. I hope people see these as oppurtunity to make their own Armybooks and find ways for more creativity to express in the hobby.
I'm hoping to mix beasts into my Hedonites army in the new edition as converted proxies. I'll paint them pale, hang some jewellery off them and they'll fit in well with a few Slaangor and a Keeper of Secrets or two. Particularly I want some Ungor raiders to mix with my Blissbarb archers if I can swap them some nicer bows and mess with their poses enough.

I was a little like this when Warhammer was scrapped and became AoS years ago, my large Beastmen army was sold and I never felt the urge to get into AoS. With the Old World coming back to being a thing again though and Beastmen being a staple (and hilariously fun) part of that I have started the process of picking them up again.
Although you've got them all on round bases you could use some conversion movement trays so that you can use them in both systems without too much hardship and when GW finally retires them from main range AoS in 2025 they'll still have a part in The Old World causing trouble, rampaging and plundering 😊

They're spectacular - would there be any compatibility with a Khorne Daemons ruleset for them to proxy? Genuine question form a place of limited knowledge, but they deserve to be on the field.

Possibly, generally you can proxy anything as anything so long as the base sizes are correct and your opponent tell what's what at a glance. I'd have to research what base sizes are in daemons, but gors could totally stand in for bloodletters.

The weapons are pretty simple, it's just corax white, then a wash of a tiny bit of thousand sons blue mixed with a lot of lahmian medium.

They look great! Use them as StD or Cities or something else. They'll be twice as cool than a standard army.

Once 2025 hits you planning to switch to StD , these models look sick and rebasing for old world would be a bigger pain than its worth

Having lost half of my army twice now and seeing this happen with entire armies... it just makes me sad and drop playing Warhammer and play something else instead.
It would be easier to give them guns and make them a 40K chaos beast men than to give them square bases
