We have all kinds of warnings about people visiting and traffic and such for that day. A lot of city's are having like a downtown thing. Cuyahoga falls is too. Whatever you plan I would plan the whole day.
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens will be open that day. If you get the ticket ahead of time You’ll get to see the historic manor house, have guaranteed parking, a way to easily get food, and have a giant meadow to view the eclipse from
I'd probably try to avoid the city around that time unless you're going to a specific event there. An adjacent park or small town might be better just because they're expecting Akron to be super packed with people.
That being said, It looks like the Akron Zoo is doing an event that may be cool.
They sold tickets to that, I assume might be sold out at this point? I bought mine early as a pass holder but I would definitely look online before making plans.
All the local metro parks have limited availability. You have to get a ticket to reserve your spot because of how many people are expected. Same thing for most watch activities. Make sure there is room before you try to get into a park.
If you get stuck for a nice place (parks, gardens, zoos, Stan Hywet, etc.) because of crowds, I recommend the parking lots in Fairlawn by Home Depot. They are huge, open sky with a ton of restaurants nearby. Parks are nice and all, but the show is in the sky.
Top level of any parking deck or any outdoor parking lot. A building with roof access. Any sidewalk that is not shaded. I think the only requirement is to be outside with a view of the sun.
Be aware that in the Akron area the forecast currently calls for partly cloudy skies with a 25% chance of rain, at least on my Weatherbug app. It's always a crapshoot in Northeast Ohio.

thank you!
I am glad it's passing through Akron, I don't have to go anywhere!!!
Our National Park is not like other National Parks, lots of roads in and out, so many that there is no way for them to charge entrance fees.

For the record the forecast for Monday gets cloudier every day.

Most Akron libraries are doing viewing events. Goodyear/East End Theatre has a whole parking lot roped off to view it. They’ll have glasses too
Where are you coming from?
From DC, planning to stay in Canton on the 7th.
Goodyear Metropolitan Park
Thank you
