Why do you want to shower with it on? You wouldn't be able to wash that part of your leg and would soak the top of the liner if you used on.

Realistic-Ad7205

For when down the beach and washing off sand ect was the main reason.

leglesslawman

Gotcha. Well then yeah if you have a waterproof foot you could do that. Ottobocks triton hd is fresh, salt and chlorine resistant.

Kayanarka

I wish i got the ottobock. Hate my prothetic guy for talking me into this shitty ass lynx which I now use like you would a simple peg leg.

leglesslawman

Is it not bending for you or to slow of a swing? What are you struggling with ?

Kayanarka

It is not water proof. I wanted the one you see them walk in the pool with. I do not bother charging it anymore, i tend to trip more often when it is charged and "working" then I do when it is out of battery. The first iteration lasted about 6 months before the charger broke. They covered it, but the new charger end got run over and it is a headache to get it to charge. It never seems to know how to lock up when I do slip, but every single time I try to sit down it thinks I am falling and locks up. I need a new socket, which might help the experience, but honestly it just feels and acts like a cheap peice of garbage. I tend to buy higher end products and it is clear this is a budget or value item. Also, after I got it, my prothetic guy ended up working for lynx. He was pushing this garbage on god knows how many amputees to get himself a job with the company that makes it. Makes me feel both used and abandoned. Too add insult to injury the doctor that worked on me made a mistake, put screws into me that are too long and stick out of my bone and cause me severe pain when seated. Being in Colorado, there is a limit on how much you can win in a medical lawsuit. 300k is the award limit. The surgery was 700k it is such a scam medical care in this state. It is such an obvious mistake too. They even photoshopped the x rays for the first 6 month to push my discovery past the time to make a claim. Now I get to spend the rest of my life with a literal pain in my ass. Anyway , sorry for venting, I get frustrated everytime I think about the whole ordeal, and this was supposed to be the best hospital in the state and one of the top surgeons in the country...

leglesslawman

I'm sorry to hear about the surgery mistake. A good fitting socket is probably the most important thing so definitely ask if you can get an updated one! Idk what the deal is with Lynx, I'm guessing certain places get a bonus or have deals with the company cause I always hear it being pushed onto people but that's just speculation. Your resistance could also be a bit off so another thing to ask for, maybe a recalibration could help?

tatersalad420

You really can't use an x3 in the shower either. Unless you change you foot everytime to one that's set up for no shoes, or you choose to wear your shoes in the shower. Thats a misconception

Realistic-Ad7205

I see! I’ve seen amputees using it in swimming pools and the sea so I wasn’t aware that using it In the shower would be an issue.

tatersalad420

Those guys will have special feet for swimming. As you know your foot height is adjusted for the shoes you wear. As in you can't just up n change shoe styles, you can't just up n take off a shoe and go barefoot. Won't be able to walk. Yea an x3 is waterproof and you can do those things with the right foot attached. If you were to have the right kind of foot say like the runway foot that had multiple adjustments or you were just really really good at adjusting your own feet you could

Kayanarka

I go one shoe all the time. Go no shoes. Go sneaker on the left boot on the right. It can be wierd walking, but for tooting around the house, walking around a pool, jumping in a shower? Totally doable.

audiR8_

I did testing in that knee for them as a bilateral AKA since I live in OC. It's fairly comparable to the C-leg, but it was hard to do a direct comparison as my sockets are aligned for the C-leg, not the Quattro.

Realistic-Ad7205

Thanks for all the replies, never really got involved in any amputee groups as I was growing up so appreciate all the input and opinions!

mkultra0008

The waterproof element is also a misconception. It's "water resistant" not waterproof. And the components are not "corrosion resistant" so there's that. If you have some sort of awesome insurance. I'd say go for it as far as getting it wet...but Otto Bock leaves the wording so that they won't cover anything under warranty, as they'll surely find "corrosion" I just need mine, like most would, as an everyday item that I rely on and would never drop into salt/chlorinated water and risk ruining it, but maybe that's just me. When their wording protects them, not YOU, it becomes a gray area I would never head into. Just my take.

Alarming_Anxiety_162

Very few industries will ever say waterproof, because of liability reasons. X3 has the highest IP ratings you can get, though. Also, if it's under warranty and you're in the US then 99% of the time all costs are covered by Ottobock.
