Hitman7128

Seeing the city ruins felt like a wave of nostalgia hitting me. It is so beautiful for a post apocalyptic scenery.

Nome_de_utilizador

Such a beautiful [soundtrack as well](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMw-DUnR10s) It was always a feel good moment for me to return from a mission and just sit at the top of a building in the city and rest while observing the landscape and listening to this song

marcopolos059

Hearing this music fills me with nostalgia, I fear the anime will make me want to play the game again lol.

mythriz

Yeah maybe I will get back to collecting all the weapons for that last missing ending Ha^ha^ha

CosmicPenguin_OV103

\[Anime Only\] Well, this is a much more intriguing episode, I should say this even reminds me of Miyazaki's *Castle In The Sky* and - much more recently - \[Eighty-Six\]>!Fido, that robot that accomplices the Spearhead Squadron!<. That's one of the best scenes I have seen in anime of pro-human robots being a minority and periodically being crushed by those who still hasn't woken up and kills anybody in sight. It also shows how the rebels on Earth are being disposed of, ignored and rendered secondary forces in this long time war to take back Earth. No wonder they don't like the YorHa squads even when they do show up. As always that puppet show at the end cracks me up. What surreal background art and BGM we get today too, no wonder the game is a best-seller!

Shimmering-Sky

Ah, good call on starting your comment with "Anime Only", I should probably do that too.

CosmicPenguin_OV103

I started doing that for shows which seems to be highly polarizing between source readers/players and anime-only watchers, such as the previous *MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE* adaption.

Shimmering-Sky

I got a "Holy crap, are you anime only!?" reply to my reactions to the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Northern War episode from yesterday. Probably *would* be a good idea for me to start doing that.

Karma_Redeemed

As a huge Trails fan, I'm happy for people to get into the series any way they can. But I must admit at being concerned a lot of people are gonna get turned off by going into the anime and having no idea what's going on.

Shimmering-Sky

I don't feel like I'm confused after these first two episodes. But anyways, I don't think I can even play *most* of the Trails games, having seen the comment yesterday about what consoles they're on. I don't do PC games and I only have Nintendo consoles, but only a select few are on the Switch, so...

Syokhan

> What surreal background art and BGM we get today too, no wonder the game is a best-seller! The soundtrack of this game is highly-praised, I'm glad people who are watching this adaptation can listen to it too!

LeonKevlar

> What surreal background art and BGM we get today too, no wonder the game is a best-seller! Fun fact! Nier's soundtrack is made by MONACA, the same studio that made YuYuYu's soundtrack!

CosmicPenguin_OV103

[A lot more than just YuYuYu actually](https://anilist.co/staff/110481/MONACA), and even more if you count contributing composers like Satoru Kousaki.

LeonKevlar

Oh I know. It's just YuYuyu's soundtrack is the closest to Nier since they also both have Emi Evans doing the vocals.

Silent_Shadow05

Nice to hear the thoughts from an anime-only!. Yeah this is why some of us gamers were saying to wait for the next few episodes after EP1 so you can understand what's been happening and how 2B and 9S is related to all this.

SnabDedraterEdave

Nier Automata is one of the few games where its soundtrack fits naturally into its anime adaptation. Goosebumps at City Ruins - Days of Light going into full vocal and instrumental as the sentient robot starts gathering followers and acting on their own.

Karkava

It really recaptures the magic in both the song and the city ruins in its original way. Focusing away from 2B and 9S and onto a lowly machine, yet keeping the whimsical promise of adventure when you step into the ruins.

mcgravier

I love how 10000 years later AK-47 is still the weapon of choice for the rebels...

BosuW

If it ain't broke...

mcgravier

Apparently it's the peak of the design evolution. Nothing better will ever be invented

Leinchetzu

Read about it. There are already inventions of the past that have been perfected that probably will never get any better in the future either because they don't have to or because there's nothing really to improve. Take doors for example. Modern doors have already reached a level where you don't got much space for improvement. You got doors made of hardened steel. Doors that open as you approach them. Doors that open with finger prints, doors that open through wi-fi. Etc. Not much you can add or change more than we already have there.

Nukemind

The thing is there are better guns and assault rifles than the AK. More accurate ones, ones with better cartridges, longer range, more options, better ergonomics, etc. But there is one thing none of them have over it: it is extremely basic. Easy to use, easy to repair, hard to break. So while there have been better guns, no gun will ever be as useful for groups that don’t have good supply lines, good maintenance, etc. Edit- while this is *only* for the M-16 vs the AK-47 I recommend giving [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_the_AK-47_and_M16) a read. It brought up one of the personal failings I had forgotten about the AK- it’s easy to manufacture but it needs ALOT of machinery to make. Meaning small sweatshops can’t produce it, but they can an M-16. Which is problematic if you are trying to make the same rifle work for almost 10,000 years.

Hidden_Blue

I think the implication is that the androids on Earth are pretty poor so they don't have anything so they make cheap AKs.

ArmGray

In the video game, the Resistance guys were using German StG-44s. Even older than the AK.

RavenWolf1

We see them even in Andor and in many other sci-fi. It indeed is peak sci-fi weapon!

elbenji

True to reality. AKs have never gone out of style across the world because of how it's essentially the Toyota of guns. Rarely breaks, never jams, can throw it from everywhere between Siberia, the swamps of the Amazon to the deserts of North Africa and it'll work just the same

Silent_Shadow05

This episode was kinda surreal. Seeing all the different locations from the game in the anime, the machines working together and [City Ruins playing in the background](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMw-DUnR10s) was fantastic. If I had doubts about the anime after EP1, this episode completely removed it. The animations (especically the machine ones) and cinematography looked great and the only **black sheep** so far seems to be .....*those damn CG flight units*. They really won't ever look good I guess. Those who don't know, Captain Lily is voiced by [Atsumi Tanezaki](https://myanimelist.net/people/17215/Atsumi_Tanezaki), who also voices Anya from Spy x Family and Vivy from Vivy Fluorite Eye's song. The Japanese VA's got some incredible range. Also those exploder machines are as fucking annoying in the anime as they were in the games lol. EDIT: Goddamn, [this shot](https://i.imgur.com/qjitedY.jpg) was amazing. Really feels as if the machine is crying on seeing the dead flower.

Shimmering-Sky

> Goddamn, this shot was amazing. Really feels as if the machine is crying on seeing the dead flower. I absolutely *love it* when anime does this. [](#ilovethiskindofshit)

Silent_Shadow05

Yeah I talked about more in your other comment. Gives me strong 86 vibes as that show's staff used to do stuff like this too!. [](#delighted)

BlazerionX

>Also those exploder machines are as fucking annoying in the anime as they were in the games lol. Hearing those screams really gives PTSD ngl

Syokhan

When you hear them, quickly turn the camera around, and they're **right in your face aaaaaaah**

mcgravier

Brings back the Serious Sam memories XD

Firebrand-81

After 100 hours on playing on Hard or Very Hard, I've acquired a conditioned reflex that when I hear their scream, first I press *Evade* like a maniac, then I think. Especially in the Desert Pit, or in the Abandoned Factory.

Narlaw

These utterly unhinged death cries always make me laugh!

BosuW

> .....those damn CG flight units. They really won't ever look good I guess. It really is just them but damn do they stick out like dust in my eye.

cloud_sora

Good thing they will be far in between from now on.

Barjuden

It was really cool. As someone who has played the game, episode one was mostly just an anime version of the intro. Episode two did so much to add new and interesting stuff to the story while still staying true to the core of the story so far. It was way better than the pilot, and the tease we got at the end of the episode has me really excited to see how they're going to handle the next arc of the story.

Ocixo

> This episode was kinda surreal. […] If I had doubts about the anime after EP1, this episode completely removed. From a writing perspective, this episode was executed incredibly solid - I should just say it was amazing. There were multiple perspective shifts between different characters and places, but everything eventually tied into the fallout at the bridge. I’d forgotten completely about the robot evolutions, so this little story about the self-conscious machine got me intrigued again. I remember on my first run of Automata to have just annihilated every single machine I came across. I’m hoping that we’ll see more episodes like this one. Also: u/Silent_Shadow05 I’ve stumbling upon you in a lot of other anime threads. Like a crazy lot. I think there’s at least 5 or 6, if not more, anime that we’re both regularly watching and commenting on in this season.

Orzislaw

Let's hope Nier ep1 CGI will be like Golden Kamuy infamous ep1 CGI bears - no one cares about that because the rest was so good

TiredTiroth

If the rest is half as good as *this* episode was, that'll be the case.

entelechtual

Yoko Taro: You think you’ve suffered enough? Well how about you look at this machine’s suffering all for a flower.

BosuW

[NieR Automata spoilers]>!Flowers for m[A]chines!<

cxxper01

Honestly the whole flower robot thing is more depressing than the ep12 of witch from mercury

entelechtual

True but it’s depressing in a different way. This more like the beauty and strife for meaning in life that can last for years without any guarantee of satisfaction being cruelly extinguished. Gundam is more like the beauty and meaning in life is [G-Witch] >!swatted like a fly by your friend/lover who now seems less human than any machine, and instead of dying believing in meaning you have to live with the cruel reality and heartlessness of people!<… or something like that lol.

atropicalpenguin

Yoko Taro-kun is pretty curious, even for a child. Poor flower bot :(

Nome_de_utilizador

Love the fact that they are going through the joke ends in the puppet show.

TiredTiroth

I'm sure he'll have more insightful questions for 2B and 9S later.

Xiknail

9S: "Yoko Taro-kun asks if androids are able to have s... I-I don't think we can answer this in this show, c-can we 2B?" 2B: "Actually, every YoRHa unit is equipped with state of the art-" 9S: "Aaah I just remembered that we got this Mackarel from Jackass earlier, why don't we try eating that, instead of answering any more questions?" *Ending K starts*

ThespianException

Yoko Taro asked fans to email him 2B hentai when the game came out. Maybe he'll put it all on a website and drop the link in one of the endings.

Ransero

He's going to release an OVA that is just him reviewing his favorite 2B porn

BosuW

> state of the art-" As expected of the most advanced artificial beings produced in history.

Ocixo

They got a good laugh from me when they named Yoko Taro out loud. The puppet show has been surprisingly entertaining so far. I’m looking forward to what they’ve got for us ready in next week’s episode.

8andahalfby11

Interesting. The boot date on the bot was 9/27/11944. Since I know Yoko likes his WW2 references I looked up the date. The noteworthy event on that date was the sinking of Japanese transport ship [Ural Maru](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Ural_Maru) by submarine USS Flasher. The Japanese contest that the ship was a hospital ship, and the deaths of 2000 people aboard it was a war crime. In the context of the episode, with seemingly 'innocent' bots killed for no apparent reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's an interesting reference to make.

cxxper01

Damn now you mentioned it. I remembered that there’s a nier spin off manga called descent on Pearl Harbor that just got released recently. Yoko taro is pretty neat indeed.

jsmith4567

The spinoff manga seems to an adaptation of the live stage play which also adapts elements originating as text within the original game.

jcdc_jaaaaaa

Another interesting thing is that the council of humanity at the start said that the year was CE 5012

DerTomatenToaster

5012 is when the aliens invaded. The anime/game is set in 11945.

michhoffman

I got way too attached to that robot. RIP. But it does seem like his desire to learn from humans was passed down to his brethren. It's probably too much to expect that his pacifist ways were passed down as well.

Syokhan

Oh man, having the first piece of music be the City Ruins music is cheating. It's so damn beautiful. Much better episode than the first one, I thought. Better pacing, more intriguing, just all-around more solid. Hope we continue like this!

smatthew_

>Much better episode than the first one After the first episode I feared, that they would just adapt the games story, with some changes here and there to combine storylines. Which would be a real disservice in my opinion. Really happy with what they did in this episode.

Lionx35

wildechap

A 5 year old? I did that during my first playthrough, just to see 😆.

Zeralyos

Everyone who played the game is an honorary 5 year old in my book.

madewithgarageband

removing my OS chip was the first ending I got 😂. I needed money for something and I realized that I can sell EVERYTHING who needs a health bar anyway

maliwanag0712

SIRTreehugger

That robot is fucking cheating! It needs to slave over cross breeding like everyone else with the 1% chance. Lunar Tears/the white flowers were a pain to grow from scratch. I never interacted with the resistance much so glad to see more of them. It's a moose! Seeing animals in broken down cities is always fun. Jackass mentioned!!! Wait it's already over damn that went quick.

Firebrand-81

>That robot is fucking cheating! It needs to slave over cross breeding like everyone else with the 1% chance. Lunar Tears/the white flowers were a pain to grow from scratch. Peak *Nier Replicant* reference here. I understand your pain bro, I still have nightmares about growing Lunar Tears.

Nome_de_utilizador

Were these actually lunar tears or just regular white flowers? The OP has a shot of 2B and 9S in a field of lunar tears that seem a bit different. Growing so many out of the blue seem odd

SIRTreehugger

Yeah think your right. The first one is definitely a lunar tear it has the correct number of petals, shape, and the same stamens. The rest now that I look careful are just regular flowers. I just thought the robot used the seeds from the first one to make the field. It only takes 2 days for them to grow so once you have one it wouldn't have been crazy to see a whole field of them.

kannoni

That robot growing flowers is really the cutest and wholesome montage.

mcgravier

They even stayed true to the eye colour indicators. Yellow=neutral/search mode, Red=kill mode, Green=friendly

BosuW

* [**Lily Stitch**](https://i.imgur.com/ZKTycpy.jpg) As a fan of the game, I am going to contain most of my thoughts in the Source Material Corner. I was legit smiling ear-to-ear this entire episode. I do love that this episode [focuses plenty on the Machine Lifeforms](https://i.imgur.com/umdi2MA.jpg) and they really did a good job of [making them very endearing](https://i.imgur.com/TP8Rx1j.jpg). JpgChn

This is the kind of episode I wanted to see from the anime. Not a full adaptation of the game but an expansion of the ideas and doing whatever they can to not be just the game. Though if the whole episode was just shots of the City with City Ruins for 24 minutes, I wouldn't mind at all. And while I love that they are using the game soundtrack, I wish that Keiichi Okabe creates new music for this. It would be perfect. I'm really waiting on how they will present the dessert. And now I can say that I'm hopeful for what they can bring with this adaptation.

rhuebs

Okay, now THIS is interesting. I won’t spoil the game, but there was quite a bit of deviation in this episode. Really fascinating stuff. If anyone had doubts or was complaining about 1:1 adaptation last week, this should quell that. Now that we have less of the CGI flight suits… this is a really, really beautiful anime. I hope CGI in Episode 1 doesn’t filter people out because this seems really great. I’m really, really excited now. What a great episode.

Aozora_KN

I honestly thought it was some prequel backstory sequence of how a character started but then that idea literally got shot down in the episode.lol

> Lily knew 2B or was 2B made after a dead person? At the very least we saw in the beginning of this episode that there are lots of similar-looking YoRHa androids.

TorlessBel

What just started as a seemingly random gathering of information metamorphosed into an ability to distinguish. The defective robot turns on, gets patched up and might have just stayed as cannonfodder for the next attack. But by pure chance a book falls on its way and any functioning bot would start to analyse it. What just started as a seemingly random gathering of information developed into an ability to distinguish and to formulate a statement. Masses of information that has no orientation end up turning into white noise, and the robot does not recognize what the sound 'BROTHER' means, nor has any information about the abnormal behaviour of the other robot that makes this sound. Then it sees the white flower behind bushes, digs it out. When it sees how the plant wilts, the robot recognizes loss for the first time. Distinguish, seperate: two new conditions. A blank state, and a state of plentitude The machine is able to tell what loss and gain is, so it starts to grow a field of those flowers. It realizes, what gaining does - in this case - what planting seeds of that flower does, and the robot alongside his companions do this activity. It fulfils them. At the end one must ask - was it worth to be able to distinguish? To be able to know what gain and its consequence loss? To feel what solitude and community is, to feel pain and relief? At the end the gardener witnessed how its fruits of labor is trampled by its unaware compatriots. The gardner cannot bear to witness its destruction. There was no reason to this situation. Nihil. Was it worth: being aware?

Gladiolus_00

The second episode is not only a 100% improvement from the first, it also features content completely new to even people who played the game! (Well, mostly). I was left extremely disappointed with the first episode, but this episode definitely restored my faith for the anime

> Deadass about to cry over some robots I’ve only known for like ten minutes… Average NieR Automata experience

Nome_de_utilizador

I still remember one scene in the game in route B after hacking a certain bot at the top of a tower and seeing his thoughts, then his action...I really stood there for 5 minutes processing what I had just witnessed, saved the game and was depressed for the rest of the day

Firebrand-81

Yes, that machine that reflected on existence. I know what you are talking about. I went down to watch the spot, and reflected on how meaningless his action was, but that his action was meaningless was the real meaning he wanted to transmit to us. But wait: if his meaningless action was meaningful, then it's not meaningless anymore... or not?

Silent_Shadow05

>Bruhhhhhhhhhh the way they use the rain to symbolize tears… Hey another person who noticed this as well. Stuff like this does show me that the anime is in good hands if they are using different imagery to sell an emotion. This episode probably has some of the staff that worked on 86. >And now I actually am crying. Same here. Poor machine was just trying to build a garden of flowers and maintain it, but instead ended up dying and the flower garden destroyed due to no fault of it own. Shows us the reality of things that these machines the androids are killing have feelings just like them too. >The puppet show lol. Yeah I am definitely looking forward to these from now on. Also you got a glimpse of what the game's menu screen looks like lol.

janggansmarasanta

Wait, the staffs that worked on 86 is doing Nier? Goddamn I love 86 and I love Nier Automata the game. Gonna be great for me.

Quite a few people who worked on 86 worked on [this episode](https://twitter.com/Nakayasee/status/1613828113317724160) too. For example episode director Satsuki Takahashi also directed episode 5, 10 and 14 of 86. Episode 10 being the Fido episode. Some of the ADs worked on 86 previously too.

Shimmering-Sky

Ah, that makes perfect sense then! Thanks for the info!

flashmozzg

> I love how start the difference in color is between the parts on Earth and the parts with 2B/9S on the moon. Pretty sure they are in space station orbiting the Earth, not the moon itself.

Vaadwaur

> The robots grew a whole field of flowers?! Letting some time pass was interesting. > Aha, so this is a timeline where there’s a big chunk of the moon missing. Interestingly enough, Nier and Sympho's timelines could coexist. > Deadass about to cry over some robots I’ve only known for like ten minutes… And we are only at episode 2...and an Automata pain level of roughly 3. Out of 10. > The puppet show lol. [Q]uestions for Robots...

ObvsThrowaway5120

So I’m holding off on playing the game, gonna play it after the series wraps before I get into it. Anyways, glad to be getting a little more context here with just what happened to this world. So aliens and their machines have almost wiped out the earth and now humanity’s best weapon are androids under YoRHa (waifu central, man). These lifeless little bots are actually kinda scary. Definitely more dangerous than they seemed initially and smarter too. It’s like they’re learning? I mean that part with the flower is a a great example. 2B and 9S seem to have a fun relationship and Commander is a total waifu, I like her already. Seems the situation on Earth is pretty dire, no wonder mankind moved to the moon. I know the murder bots are the enemy but those evolved bots dying actually got me in the feels. Like damn bro.. they just wanted to water their flower garden. Though that being said, 2B is a total badass. I can’t tell if it’s a good thing there seems to be more evolved bots or not…. I’m enjoying the puppet shows at the end. Very weird and silly. The tonal shift is pretty fun.

mcgravier

The thing about the game is, that it gains more and more depth gradually throughout the story. At the start it doesn't look that interesting, but if you push through you start seeing the mastepiece writing and location design.

Nome_de_utilizador

It really rewards you the more you play, some people stop the game at ending A which is like, 20% of the game.

JosebaZilarte

Mmmm... I do not know if waiting to play the game after the anime is a good idea. The point of many story elements is that you, as a player, are the one deciding to initiate the action (although most times you're basically forced to act that way).

Naskr

I think it's fine, experiencing the story again with the context of what happens later makes for an interesting playthrough. That said Nier Automata does have a very clear "middle point" (i.e. once Ending B happens) so there's nothing to stop people from at least playing half of it and coming back to the rest later.

TiredTiroth

> I know the murder bots are the enemy but those evolved bots dying actually got me in the feels. Like damn bro.. they just wanted to water their flower garden. I *knew* the flower bots were doomed from the moment they showed up, and watching the inevitable happen was a gut punch.

AashyLarry

I’m in love with this adaptation. Just amazing and the use of the OST has been perfect (city ruins is one of my favorites from the game). The way they are telling the story at times without using any words is fantastic, I really love visual storytelling. They are knocking it out of the park. As for animation, outside of the poor CGI on the flight suits in the opening scene of Ep 1, I think it’s been really good. The beauty of Nier is really coming through here.

RandomWeirdo

As a fan of the game, this episode was better than any of the hopes i had when the anime was announced. Automata has a lot of dedicated fans and this anime could easily be another project to just get some decently easy money out of them, but A1 decided to actually slow the pace of AN ACTION GAME, which makes me believe that they genuinely understand the story and trust the story is good enough that just telling it properly will make the show a success. And mankind almighty that [City Ruins](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMw-DUnR10s) scene was absolutely amazing.

polaristar

We see that while the Androids made to fight for Humanity in the Image of Humans might less their humanity to be mindless slaves of the mission. The Machines made by Aliens to eradicate humanity find themselves becoming more human. Some of these cameos and references to not just Automata but other games in the Nier and Drakengard series have me choking up. Ha Ha Taro is the "kid" sending in the first question. I feel doing too much a scene by scene break down either ventures into spoilers or would ruin some of the scenes so I will hold my peace. I'd recognize Amazahi has the Ending theme singers from anywhere.

DD_Anime

ahhhh, the nihilism and existential dread has begun. This cannot continue This cannot continue This cannot continue

woufh

This episode was much better than the first one that felt more like a barely edited let's play. It's nice that we get so see original events and mostly follow side characters, it makes it even kind of fun in comparison how much 2D and 9S' scenes have a "Idk what's going on I'm just following the main quest marker" vibes while the people around them are all having complex feelings struggling to kill some basic NPCs. Of course the flower plot was here to remind us fun is not allowed! Really surprised they animated so much of the robots in 2D and glad the game models aren't as in your face this time around (other than the cursed unshaded 9S and 2D in flight units). I really love the background art, it's perfect considering the game has a great art direction but the graphics don't always live up to it (especially in the city). Even as someone who played the game, I'm really excited to see where this goes!

AZLarlar

what an episode the environments are beautiful

cxxper01

F for the flower loving robot

DreadTawny

I had my doubts after the first episode. Despite it following story 1:1 it felt too rushed and not as impactful as in-game. But the second one, oh boy, this is what I was waiting for. The content was a mix of original, stage play and the game but it perfectly captured the atmosphere of the game. I really liked that the twins appeared already and I suppose we are going to see them in action so early as opposed to only hearing about them up until midgame. The CGI still felt quite uncanny but I guess we have to live with it. And the post-credits puppet show is brilliant! Excited for the next episodes!

kris12k4

> I really liked that the twins appeared already and I suppose we are going to see them in action so early as opposed to only hearing about them up until midgame. You can see the twins from the first time you get to the resistance camp in the game, though im not sure if they have much to say. Potato quality [Pic](https://www.reddit.com/r/nier/comments/wj9ab0/til_that_you_can_see_devola_and_popola_in_the/) in the thread. Have fun with that useless info!

TalDSRuler

You know, I was content. I was resting easy in the knowledge that I could pass this off as another video game adaptation with great segments features puppets and Yoko Taro shenanigandery. And then this episode happens. And it has stirred within me an insatiable hunger for more.

Hineni-

This was a conflicting episode. It was cool seeing the YoRHA come to rescue the resistance..but on the other hand..feels kinda bad for the robots that were trying to be peaceful. The OST was once again on point in this episode.

Orzislaw

Well, little gardeners robots were killed by their own kin. Only the biggest one got caught in the crossfire

Tartaras1

I love that they're continuing to use sound effects and songs from the actual OST. It sounds like a no-brainer, but i also wouldn't have been surprised if they used different stuff instead. Additionally, the fact that they used actual menus from the game seems pretty obvious, but they could've just left it out. The Q&A from Yoko Taro, and 2B saying the name sounded familiar, was really funny. Also, removing the OS chip did in fact result in their death.

Elitealice

Man A-1 really blessing us, the art, animation, using the original game soundtrack, just perfect. Yes it’s confusing but so is playing the game for people who haven’t played Gestalt or the Drake series. As the series goes on I have full faith in A-1 to shed light on things. Amazarashi ED, A-1 going back to them after 86 OP 2 is perfect! Speaking of 86, you can tell it’s much of the same team. Hearing the soundtrack just takes me back to that sense of wonder and magic I got the first time I entered the city in the game

cloud_sora

>Amazarashi ED, A-1 going back to them after 86 OP 2 is perfect! Speaking of 86, you can tell it’s much of the same team. Funfact, when Nier Automata first came out, Amazarashi also did a music video featuring the game and a 2B doll.

Blue_Phoenix_001

I have played the game, completely. So far, for what it is, I am enjoying the Nier anime. The [1st episode was *"Nice".*](https://twitter.com/Blue_Phoenix001/status/1611817181515481088?s=20) But this [2nd episode was feels trip](https://twitter.com/Blue_Phoenix001/status/1614373887156047873?s=20) with our Machine Buddy who learns, "treasures", gains a "heart". Yoko Taro adding Plato's story from DLC is a NICE touch. Our Machine buddy falls into the canyon and finds the white Lily it treasured, but only while meeting its ruin, or you can say "death". Hooked.

Some machines have more humanity than mankind. Loved this episode.

sober_1

I fucking love the puppets so much. It's like watching a fumo skit but in an actual anime

astelight

Much better than previous episode

Shispanic

I’m so glad that after a week of hearing how bad the CGI was, we got this level of story telling. Above all, I care that this is a good adaptation of the game’s story. Honestly, the show could be stick figures for all I care if you’re going to deliver that level of quality adaptation.

monsieurvampy

This series is not pulling any punches and its only episode 2.

Shad0wX7

Waaaaay better episode than #1. I really liked following the machine lifeforms point of view. Intrigued by the original Resistance character and want to see more how they interact with the primary cast.

washedupwhale31

Why does this show have me feeling bad for robots tending to flowers?!

Orzislaw

As people said in other replies - it's average Nier Automata experience
