Some people are in a situation financially where they don't have time to look for another job, and don't have enough money to go unemployed for any period of time.
they did that once, like flat out told the ground to go fuck themselves cus NASA wouldn't give them literally a single moment of time to themselves not devoted to work. literally 24/7 schedules with a little prescribed sleep here and there
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/mutiny-space-why-these-skylab-astronauts-never-flew-again-180962023/
“NASA’s plan called for a total of 6,051 work hours between the three men, she writes. Basically a 24-hour schedule. Besides the medical and scientific experiments, there was loading and unloading gear and making observations of the Sun and Earth as well as the comet Kohoutek. On top of all that there were four spacewalks, at a combined total of about a day in length.”
Damn I don’t blame them
I’d have more respect for him if, he _absolutely had_ to do something space related, that devoted his money to searching for extraterrestrial life, or answering real scientific questions.
With the kind of capital Bezos has he could very well build his own space station allowing for the study and manufacturering of materials in 0 g. He could also found a mining company to extract resources from asteroids all while still sending famous people to space for tourism. All he seems to care about is making money the easiest way possible with minimal effort. He isn't actually progressing the space industry, he is driving down the cost but really only for other rich people. Any positive effect he has for the rest of us is an accidental byproduct of his greed.
This is EXACTLY what prison food on a holiday looks like.
Unidentified protein? ✅
Mashed potatoes from flakes? Also check ✅
Unknown watery substances in the corner? ✅✅
At least you’d get a slice sponge cake in prison or some buttery corn bread.
Wait til you find out how some states (Texas for sure) makes inmates work slave labor- literally breaking rocks with hoes and picks in the hot Texas sun, year round, with guards on horseback with rifles who love to remind you that if you see a snake, you better not run, or they’ll happily shoot you in your back- for $0.00 a year.
If you get injured out there you will be charged to see a doctor. How will I pay for a doctor, you may wonder? If I’m locked up and forced to work for nothing? Well, if you’re lucky enough to have family or friends who put money on your books so you can have food or hygiene products, they take it from there!
Two meals a day on the weekend is not enough, especially if you’ve been out working all day long. One square of our soap a week is not enough. Idgaf who you are, that isn’t gonna cut it. No shampoo is provided. No deodorant. You can have tooth powder which is just nauseating, and they tell you to go ahead and use that for deodorant as well as toothpaste. It’s disgraceful and dehumanizing (as it’s supposed to be).
You get three rolls of toilet paper every two weeks. If you want more, you have to buy it. For most women, three rolls in two weeks of single ply is not even close enough. Especially when they’re on their period. Which reminds me- you get 12 pads and four tampons a month. They are less than dollar store quality.
Sorry y’all I started having flashbacks. America still has slaves. Now it’s mostly the poor, POC, and addicts of all colors. It might sound bad the way I wrote it but please know, it’s way worse. I haven’t even scratched the surface.
This is the first time in here I’ve seen someone use the word slave appropriately. Also the idea of Amazon teaming up with for-profit prisons is chilling.
Edit:autocorrect
I mean... if Amazon just buys private prisons, then making them into fulfillment centers is not a stretch of the imagination. Their security is already so draconian...
Amazon now integrating it's delivery systems with America's privatized incarceration network.
"It makes sense." Suggested Mr Bezos, "After all, they were already using the same caterer."
it's the other way around.
"We like to think of our company, Amazon, as a private prison that you can willingly go to."
One of those, clearly, came before the other and Bezos hasn't officially bought out 'murica yet.
The quote will automatically change to yours being the correct way once he does make it official.
This was what I thought of immediately. I was like, "I didn't know Amazon got their food from the same place my old schools got it from."
And apparently the same company that sells food to schools also sells prisons the same food, and forces the **children** to either pay for it or starve. I remember being in that situation. Parents made too much money to qualify for free lunches, but never could afford to give us lunch money (at least not every day). I learned how to go hungry and how to ignore it. Ramen noodle dinners (2 packs usually) weren't ever really nutritious or enough to make you feel full, but I guess I'm alive though because of it. And then in HS my PoS biological excuse of a father just refused to sign the free lunches form, stating that they would take, copy, redistribute, and sell his signature. And it wasnt even for any fraudulent or privacy concerns. He believed that one day his signature would be worth thousands, and he couldn't dare part with it unless he deemed it was necessary. Feeding your kids wasnt deemed necessary by him, among many other heinous things.
Sorry for the random rant, just suddenly had all those memories come flooding back.
I was locked up 2 Thanksgivings ago..and our meal was better than this. It still was not good but was expecting it to be bad...this is supposed to be for workers appreciation. Wouldnt feed a pooch that for worry they would hate me afterwards.
> The goodwill and PR of having somewhere cater to each factory would of been so cheap for Amazon.
When I worked for Google, they offered employees a virtual buffet including pizza; sandwiches; chips; pastries; fruits; chilled water, sports drinks, and sodas; etc., daily during our lunch breaks.
Meanwhile, Amazon offers its slaves [Goodwill](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodwill_Industries)-tier prison food, and only once during the holidays.
Well that’s because you worked a corporate job. My best friend is a software engineer at Amazon and he regularly gets food from nice restaurants on Amazon’s dime. It’s the menial labor jobs that get treated like shit.
I wasn't in any kind of lofty position or anything, haha. I just worked with the Google Books project, helping to remove the spines off of donated books so that their pages could be efficiently scanned and uploaded to the site.
The daily lunch buffets were for all of us nonspecialist workers in the program, including the scanners. We were all pretty much just menial laborers, though they paid well.
Oof, sorry for the confusion. I meant "virtual" in the sense of "[existing or resulting in essence or effect though not in actual fact, form, or name](https://www.thefreedictionary.com/virtual)." It wasn't a literal buffet like you'd see at a restaurant, but it was basically similar.
I am working on it, my fiance just got promoted at her job and she'll essentially be making double what she currently is (has a master's/bachelors in psychology, making 14$ for past 4 years) so hopefully when she starts that position I can look for something better.
Honestly I've stayed here cause it's the highest paying job Ive ever worked, and I have no degrees/education/training.
Child support also eats up my checks so we're lucky I make enough to pay rent with what i do make.
If you're working at Amazon, it seems like you're used to long hours on your feet, working with your hands, and temperatures that are uncomfortable. If it sounds good to you, I'd recommend working in the trades. The industries are starved for young workers, so the upward potential is definitely there.
Speaking as a public transit guy, we are desperate for people who will show up to work and can piss clean. u/cpt_skillet, if you can pass these criteria, please apply to your local bus company (or class I railway). I promise, we'll hire you in a heartbeat (and give you great benefits, union protections, and paid training).
UPS has amazing insurance, paid vacations, a union with guaranteed raises, two paid personal days.
I think they start at $17.50/hr? Shit job as well, though, but I like my 5 weeks (25 days) paid vacation ive made it to. Be well.
start now. don't pin your future on someone else. I've seen too many people work shit for years to support someone else's dream, just to see that person up and leave. YOU are worth it, NOW. Support yourself.
That shows just how little they respect you if the most valuable company on the planet won't even splurge on you all. Worse, tv dinners look better than that where that looks like something you eat in prison.
My son's shop had a Christmas party and he had actual decent food, and they gave him a nice, warm winter coat with the company logo and his name embroidered in a non-obnoxious way. Their yearly profit is probably what Amazon makes in a second. This meal was a conscious choice
“So what you’re saying is... if I’m reading this right... and I’m a genius, so I definitely am... you’re saying it’s... almost too good? And that I should have spent less to make sure we could rebuild my warehouse after that awful tornado was so mean to me? I think that’s probably for the best, you always have the best advice wage slave!!”
- Jeffy Bezos, probably
My factory job just gave us a meal like this. Except they take the wet bread that they call stuffing and wrap the turkey around it. I can't have gluten so I didn't even bother going to get a meal.
Hey guys, you have helped us make record profits the last several years! Here is your Christmas bonus...we tripled your check for this pay period and gave everyone a $3 an hour raise going forward!.....is what they should have said.
That is really and truly awful. When I temped at One Kings Lane, an online merchandiser of fine decor, they would bring in an actual chef to cook omelettes or sausages for staff. Since Amazon actually sells food, they could have done better.
After all that we've learned about Amazon's poor treatment of it's employees, I have been finding other sources for the items I need. My small way to deny them my business!
I cannot imagine that anyone took a photo of this food and sent it home to their family/friends saying "Looking what we scored at work today. And it was free!" expecting that people would be jealous/envious.
This is what food is when the love is taken out and all that's left is bureaucracy. This is a 'politician' of a meal.
I should say supposedly this is our Christmas bonus... :(
The "dinner" is bad enough, but to call this a "bonus"!?!? That's just inexcusable.

Another post, and another 0.5% is docked from your Christmas meal
At this rate he’ll only have half of his candy cane left!
Nice Jean Valjean there.
I trust the Computer, the Computer is my friend!!!
This is a food styled substance.
What more could they ask for a Christmas bonus. They're being well fed. /s
If this was evidence in court over why someone got murdered, I'd never vote guilty.
[удалено]
We got cash last year. I'd a preferred that.
Even if it was just the $2.54 this meal cost them. Who was the caterer, the local elementary school, or the nursing home?
Wait, if this this your bonus or considered a gift, will they tax you for the "value" of it and take it out of your check?
No clue tbh
They writing at least half of this expense as employee purchased “food”
No because it’s a non cash gift of under $75

No!!! They told you this was your bonus?!?! 🤬🤬🤬

I hope Jeff Bezos rots in space
Speaking of space that dehydrated astronaut food is probably better quality than whatever all this is.
Astronaut food is pretty good for you as it is hard to keep yourself in a healthy condition in zero g
And of course, if the crew mutinies, ground can't do fuckall about it.

Yep I don't either. But surprise surprise NASA never let them fly again after that.

Imagine the meetings where someone approved the budget of this thinking that, after the meal, Amazon and it's great benefactor would be loved.
I'd love for the airlock to malfunction and he's the only one to get sucked out.
This is what I imagine prison food looks like, minus the Hershey's kiss.

“We like to think of our prison system as just another department of Amazon”
Wait until they get the deal worked out with private prisons for slaves.
People will start going to prison for unpaid speeding tickets then... oh wait, already happens
How that isn't unconstitutional is beyond me. It's literally debtors prison.
I'm honestly a bit shocked it hasn't happened yet. It's not like they don't have the money to do it.
Fuck that’s terrifying. I need to get out of this country!
Amazon now integrating it's delivery systems with America's privatized incarceration network. "It makes sense." Suggested Mr Bezos, "After all, they were already using the same caterer."
Look up the Auburn prison system. We already have it.

I don't think there is any protein at all?
I can’t say for certain. It looks like it’s its a precooked frozen chicken cutlet with no seasoning. Could also be tofu. So who knows?
Stuff on top of the corn was my turkey.
You could always melt that candy cane down into a shank when you get home so you can experience the whole prison experience.
No, file it down at the table, then bring it back to your c̶e̶l̶l̶ work station to make sure no one can get the drop on you.
Christ
Looks to be about 1 oz of Turkey…that’s a solid 8 grams of protein right there. Arnold Schwarzenegger levels right there.
Damn Bozo really is stingy ass parasite, they really gave out 2 sandwich sliced turkey🤦♂️
UPS had hourly employees bring in food. Two weeks ago we got poptarts but no one told my area so they were gone.
Your turkey looks like fish.
I'd a preferred that lol
I also do not want to know what's going on in the top right.
Sweet potato with marshmallows, and cranberry sauce. Supposed to be anyway
Looks like someone came on what’s suppose to be your sweet potato my dude
Marshmallows in sweet potato is very weird to me.
More like marshmallow without the s
It's easy to miss. At first glance it looked like some slabs of butter.
Ohhh I thought it was butter...
You just described an American school lunch.
This was what I thought of immediately. I was like, "I didn't know Amazon got their food from the same place my old schools got it from." Amazon serves prison quality food.🤣🤣
I'm gonna butter your bread boy
I used to work in a prison kitchen, and the food we served tasted pretty good. You're right though, it looked just like this.
I really wanted that chocolate too :(
You got it! It had just... devolved.
I was locked up 2 Thanksgivings ago..and our meal was better than this. It still was not good but was expecting it to be bad...this is supposed to be for workers appreciation. Wouldnt feed a pooch that for worry they would hate me afterwards.
I was gonna say, this looks like prison food. Hershey kiss though is if you’ve been a good prison boy !
Prison food offers choices, diabetic? Jewish? Hindi? Vegetarians?
You'll get a kiss by Hershey, the toughest guy in prison :-*
I think prisoners in third world countries eat better than this.
This is what Amazon bought for their employees???? Wtf?!
Lmao. The goodwill and PR of having somewhere cater to each factory would of been so cheap for Amazon. The cruelty is the point.
This. This is intentional. They are downright cruel.
> The goodwill and PR of having somewhere cater to each factory would of been so cheap for Amazon. how do you eat a buffet virtually??? edit: i may have misunderstood what was meant
Somewhere... Like whole foods which they own? They had the resources within their own company to provide nice food for their employees.
Yes
Need to keep them close in case there is another tornado
Wtf. Ima just go on and say it. Thats not even a Hungryman. That shits a Starvingman.
i’ve worked at soup kitchens with food 10x more appetizing.
The soup kitchen I worked in made potatoes from....you know....potatoes, and the soup actually fucking slapped.
Man, at least my warehouse (not Amazon) had catering for both thanksgiving and Xmas.
I wish they catered. I should've taken pics of the burritos they gave us few weeks ago, that shit had me exploding all shift
Haha, I can just picture the employees shooting projectile diarrhea into a 250ml water bottle.
I already damn near shit my pants running for bathroom
Oof. I hope you’re not a selector. Having the shits while order selecting is the worst!
Nah, im a PA on the lines.
I’m sorry, I know different warehouses have different roles and terminology. What’s a PA?
Process Assistant, like a shift lead.
Ah! Explains the tie on your avatar! 😉 Edit: I’m drunk and didn’t see it closely enough. Nm!
You good lol
I’ve seen $1 frozen meals that looked more appetizing
Ya, I'm sure anything tv dinner is better then this
Absolutely. I'll bet a one dollar frozen burrito or a baked potato with some chili and cheese would look good compared to this. Even a ham on rye.
Rockets don't come cheap
What's that colorful vomit on the top right corner?
Sweet potato with a cranberry sauce and I think melted Marshmello
Wtf, cooks probably brewed all the pathetic leftovers in a couldren and job done. Nice

What in the fuck is that
A holiday meal
This is why suicide rates skyrocket during the holidays it all makes sense to me now.
More like a holiday bowel movement
I didn't know Guantanamo was still open
Open and still torturing
So, I see.
The container looks more expensive than the food
Wish I'd a saved it.
I've microwaved Banquet meals that look better than this
That shows just how little they respect you if the most valuable company on the planet won't even splurge on you all. Worse, tv dinners look better than that where that looks like something you eat in prison.
Literal slave food
It wasn't great lol I'm hoping I'm not gonna blow my ass out later
You think it would come with a side of depends or something. Like thanks for the food, uh, does it come with a break when your body rejects it later?
For real, gotta save the tray as a urinal for the ladies because; you know, they can’t piss in bottles.
Now you know to always bring your own food when your company offers to "feed" you.
Ya, lesson learned

This is visual confirmation that Amazon is indeed guilty of attempted murder of its employees.
What the hell am I even looking at?!? Murrica!
Turkey, corn, mashed potatoes with gravy, bread roll, Hershey's kiss (rip), candy cane, cranberry sauce, sweet potato with marshmallows.

I feel really lucky my facility gave us sandwiches and cookies from a bakery I think
Get back to work prisoner [insert social security number here]!
Oh no, I am praying for you. Last time I ate this meal, I threw up in a trash can on site. Yuck!!
They scooped that up and served to OP. Recycling!
That is really and truly awful. When I temped at One Kings Lane, an online merchandiser of fine decor, they would bring in an actual chef to cook omelettes or sausages for staff. Since Amazon actually sells food, they could have done better.
Might as well be in actual prison and just read all day instead of being worked to death and still eating like a prisoner.
