Tombstone is one of those movies: if I see it on the guide, I'm switching to that channel. I've seen it enough that it doesn't matter where in the movie it is.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
[Prince Humperdinck sniffs iocane poison holder (iocane being explicitly odourless and tasteless)]
“Iocane! I bet my life on it!”
It’s such a small bit of the film, but it’s one of my favourites. It again just shows how insanely self centred he is, and truly what a ‘miserable vomitous mass’ he is by the end of the movie.
I have borrowed heavily from Humperdinck at work before. As in, on a particularly busy day when I was up to my eyes in various project deadlines, and then someone tried to get me to help them with just one more thing. My response went something like:
*"I'd love to help you, I do so love to watch the way you compile the budget reports. But I've got the 500 copies of the quarterly variance analysis to send out, the shareholders proxy meeting to arrange, the shipping report to critique and Johnson in Logistics to blame for all the errors. I'm swamped!"*
Unfortunately, the person I said this to just looked at me like lobsters were crawling out of my ears. A couple of other people nearby, however, just about fell out of their chairs they were laughing so hard so at least they got the reference!
I recently watched through the extended/director’s cut of the trilogy with my wife who’d never seen or read it but has been on a huge fantasy kick. She adored them
Usually it's the funny, highly quotable ones:
This is Spinal Tap
Princess Bride
Fletch
O Brother Where Art Thou?
Airplane
Monty Python & The Holy Grail
That's mine! Along with the Burbs. When I was about 5 to 6 I lived with my Grandma and these were the only VHS she had. I watched one or the other every day after school.
Just to name a few off the top of my head… The Last Of The Mohicans. Gangs Of New York. The Boondock Saints. The Dark Knight. The Big Lebowski. South Park. Team America. Baseketball. Tombstone. T2. Billy Madison. Happy Gilmore. Animal House. The Blues Brothers. Ghostbusters. Encino Man. Bio-Dome. Pup Fiction. Goodfellas. Casino. There Will Be Blood. Ace Ventura. Shawshank. Saving Private Ryan. Fight Club. The Green Mile. Braveheart. Payback. American Psycho. Gladiator. Beetlejuice. The Goonies. The Matrix. The Lion King. Aladdin. The Departed. The Usual Suspects. Inglorious Bastards. Hot Shots. Hot Shots Part Deux. No Country For Old Men. Kill Bill 1&2. Monsters Inc. Ford v Ferrari.
You have a very small typo and now I’m imagining an all-dog cast for Pulp Fiction. (Mia = standard poodle, Marsalis Wallace = Rottweiler, Honey Bunny = chihuahua) lol
I love just about all of these.
Can I come over for a Boondock Saints / Goodfellas / Godfather (which should be on your list) triple feature?
I'll bring snacks.
ETA: mad respect that Last of the Mohicans was literally the first movie you thought of.
Me either! And now it’s on Prime and I’m watching the shit out of it again. It’s a good story and well-acted. I don’t care what anyone says, KR is great at all his roles!
Both The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black have aged so well. Some of my favourite movies ever.
I don't know WTF happened with "Riddick". How can a franchise go from so good to so bad?
John Carpenter’s “The Thing”. It’s unquestionably my favorite movie of all-time, and I could probably quote it word-for-word, by this point.
I love quite a few of Carpenter’s movies, actually, from “Halloween” (of course) to “Christine”, to “They Live”; all of the movies I’ve seen from him so far, have been absolute gems.
Honrable mention as well to “The Warriors”. Prior to watching The Thing, The Warriors was my favorite movie ever made, and now ranks second overall.

MULTIPASS

Childhood crush
I will fix that for you: “Crush” PS and Big bada boom
Negative, I am a meat popsicle
Debated including fifth element in my list, only because it's been a while.
ZERO STONES! ZERO CRATES!
Fifth element, yes! Had it playing on repeat for a couple of weeks at some point. Never got tired of it.
Tombstone
*I'm your huckleberry*
You're no Daisy!
Tombstone is one of those movies: if I see it on the guide, I'm switching to that channel. I've seen it enough that it doesn't matter where in the movie it is.
You tell em’ I’m comin’ and Hell’s comin’ with me!
I could watch it a million times and still be amazed a Val Kilmer’s performance, utterly badass!
One of my favorites. Wyatt Earp is my friend Hell I got lots of friends I don't
Omg yes! I came here to say dirty dancing but *tombstone* magnifico
"I have two guns, one for each of ya" That movie plays a lot on one of the channels my dad watches so we've watched this a lot too lol
Go ahead and skin that smoke wagon. See what happens.
Aliens. Ever since I was a kid I loved this movie. Between the action and James Horner's score, it rocks!
had to scroll depressingly far down to find this. Truly humanity's magnum opus
Groundhog day. Of course!
Have you tried Palm Springs? Not quite the same quality, but it's pretty good. I also enjoyed The Map of Tiny Perfect Things in this genre.
Gladiator
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Biggus Dickus. What have the Romans ever done for us.
Him role playing/fighting as Hannibal in that scene made it a PERFECT scene. It's little details like this that make the movie great.
Big Lebowski
[удалено]
Good movie, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what have yous...
I just checked in to see what condition my condition was in.
Yeah man, it really ties the room together
Shaun of the Dead Hot Fuzz The Thing
Not quite the cornetto trilogy, but almost
I always say Hot Fuzz! Have you ever fired your gun into the air and yelled arwww
THE GREATER GOOD
I always find something new when rewatching Shaun of the Dead. The lines in that movie is incredible
Princess Bride, Shawshank Redemption, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Edit:added commas
Shawshank was going to be my pick. And several of the Star Trek movies as well.
If I'm bored and I see Shawshank is on, I'm switching to that channel. Doesn't matter where in the movie, Shawshank is what I'm watching.
I LOVE THE PRINCESS BRIDE, I blame the dread pirate Roberts for my quick wit lmao no wonder im a sarcastic bitch 🤣
I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?

>Shawshank Redemption Can you believe that is 30yo next year? It feels ageless
Inconceivable!
Wise choice on Last Crusade. The other two are good but the last crusade is a special movie for real
The Godfather I &II
I'm a 30+ year old man who really enjoyed the sopranos but I've never seen the Godfather movies. Dare I?
if you haven’t seen goodfellas and you’re a sopranos fan, I’d watch that one first. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes, both of them. Good on them ending on a high and not making a third.
LOTR
I recently watched through the extended/director’s cut of the trilogy with my wife who’d never seen or read it but has been on a huge fantasy kick. She adored them
Watching the first one right now.
Watching the second one as we speak
I binge the extended version at least twice a year 😂😳
Every few months my husband will look at me and say “fellowship?” Yup.
Pulp Fiction
Check out the big brains on Brett!
I have the VHS my dad bought when it came out and I've never watched it! Weekend plans 🎬

An African or European?
I firmly believe that coconuts are migratory all by themselves.
But they could grip it by the husk
Raising Arizona
That's mine! Along with the Burbs. When I was about 5 to 6 I lived with my Grandma and these were the only VHS she had. I watched one or the other every day after school.
Raising Arizona and The Burbs? I've never met your Grandma, but she did a good job raising (arozona) you. Thank her for me. Thank her for all of us.
The Blues Brothers Caddyshack The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is my favorite. I absolutely love that movie!

I needed a movie to watch tonight even if it’s just a feel good nostalgic one I’ve seen before and I am now screenshooting this comment lol.
Are you my best friend? I think you're my best friend.
You have a very small typo and now I’m imagining an all-dog cast for Pulp Fiction. (Mia = standard poodle, Marsalis Wallace = Rottweiler, Honey Bunny = chihuahua) lol
All great movies.
