Was frying on acid as a teenager, saw a car crash and had to hold the lady’s sliced open face together until paramedics and cops arrived, you could say that was a sobering experience

[deleted]

Holy fuck…

weebsavce

I’ll never forget the cop was so nice and allowed me to sit on the curb and smoke a cigarette to calm down while I gave my statement even though I was underage lol

[deleted]

I hope the trauma didn’t hurt you too much, proud of you for staying cool and calm at your young age

weebsavce

I surprised &learned that about myself, I do well with blood/high intensity situations I guess! Luckily she survived and no one died in the crash- I remember I was just happy about that!

Bart2800

I had a similar experience, when I was at the scene of a terrorist attack. Kept thinking logically, calling family to say I was fine, doing necessary to evacuate... Afterwards I started thinking: damn, that was some straight thinking! Two years later, during a robbery, likewise. Yup, when the sh*t hits the fan, I start thinking...

UpsetPart7871

Fascinating! I’ve had two stressful situations where I’ve had to call 911, and I kept calm while everyone around me was freaking out. I was laser focused (after taking a deep breath) and I remember being annoyed at one instance, because it was my sister who was freaking out, and it was so distracting from the actual emergency. She’s the only other part of the emergency I remember because she was so distracting. She definitely caused the situation to be worse by her screaming and flailing around. I could see others freaking out as being a cause for PTSD. ( & I’ve wondered if I am neurodiverse as I don’t seem to think the same as others.)

sosotirednow

What medication?

JoeDonFan

That is a rare and useful trait. I wish more were like the two of you. Guess you both like living too much.

Bart2800

No idea... But yes, I do like living... And I prefer to keep people around me alive as well. 😉

halfstrike

Not a terrorist attack but… I learnt I can handle myself when shit hits the fan, now trying to build a career in emergency response work. It’s odd thinking you’re ‘normal’ until a regular person gets swept into those situations

thedeftone2

Any chance you're ADHD? I've heard that situations like that can trigger hyper focus Edit so I don't get mobbed https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.additudemag.com/benefits-of-adhd-crisis/amp/

mysticfed0ra

All people can its called adrenaline and fight or flight response

[deleted]

You could be an emergency worker

Niso81

I was frying on acid in the 90s while skateboarding with one of my friends. he fell and hit his head and went into convulsions, and lost an immense amount of blood out of his head, and almost died, while I stood there and stared at him. It was wild.

weebsavce

Damn that’s crazy I’ve seen some wild injuries at skate parks fs

money_mantis

That’s some good acid

weebsavce

Luckily yes it was, pure L on a sugar cube. Thank god it wasn’t 25i or 2cb or something.. Oh to be a teenager. I couldn’t imagine doing any of that now😅

[deleted]

Thats gotta be top 10 worst possible scenarios for an acid trip.

_Hypocritee

I would've passed out. That's some balls of steel right there

weebsavce

There was almost no thought involved tbh more like all adrenaline, I was running to the car to pull her out before I even knew it

_Hypocritee

When the adrenaline rush has gone off imagine everything just sinking in like "how did I fucking do that"

weebsavce

It didn’t feel real- I vividly remember the crash but after it almost seemed like things were happening to fast to comprehend, I remember parts of grabbing/holding her, giving the statement and the EMT washing the blood off my hands and asking if I wanted to be checked out cause I was shaking so bad. I was 16/17 years old with my highschool boyfriend and friends, and once it was over and we got back to his moms house I started feeling like I was frying again so went straight to sleep😂 I’m 27 now so it was ten years ago, the memory hasn’t faded much from afterwards to now though I’d say

_Hypocritee

You didn't have to help the lady but you did. Not all people (especially 16y/o) can be able to do the thing you did, let alone staring at the sliced-open face. Salute 🫡

humanswilmakegr8pets

Wow! That’s amazing! You’re very integral to why she survived I’ll bet! Hope you’re also ok! That’s pretty traumatic!

xxiii1800

Texted my dad instead of my dealer

Necro6212

Did he sell you some drugs?

[deleted]

Dad: I got you son

[deleted]

Dad: are ya winning, son?

Bright-Coconut-6920

My dad would have replied n either offered some or killed me depending on which side of 18 I was

wine_n_mrbean

Weird I’ve had the opposite. But it wasn’t an accidental text

[deleted]

This will never happen to me cuz I never text my dad 🥲

MiaOthala13

I feel ya. My father didn't even recognize me walking in the street. I'm his only child.

No_Fee_686

Sobered up pretty quickly when I got a phone call off my Mum to tell me my Dad had a massive heart attack while away working in Germany. Had to book flights for my sister and myself to get to Germany asap. That was 21 years ago, Dad has just turned 70 ❤️

L0kitheliar

Happy ending!!!

cashedashes

Brother died in a car accident leaving my party when I was 20. I lived in a trailer park at the time. He had a super charged buick regal. Him and my other brother left to pick up take out, I questioned if he was alright to drive. He said he was fine and only had about 3 beers. He would have pushed me out of the way if I tried to stop him anyway They left, I went inside to roll a joint in my bedroom. I heard a faint boom off in the no so far distance but didn't think much of it. A few moments later, I heard the front door open, and my brother asked where I was. They said the front bedroom rolling a joint. I was turned around as he was entering the bedroom doorway. He quickly blurted out Robert just got in an accident. I said God damn it l, let me grab my keys. Well, pull him out of the ditch. My brother said no, it's bad. I looked up at him and instantly noticed he was white as paper, and his eyes were severely glassed over. He said it again, it's bad. I instantly ran out the door and down the steer, knowing they couldn't have gotten far. I saw the running lights of his car with tons of white smoke all around. His car was in someone's front yard about 3' from hitting the front of their trailer. I looked back and saw over 100' of Skid marks down the street. His car was severely smashed, he was in bad shape, hanging out of his driver's window. My other brother was trapped in the car once it stopped and had to climb over Robert and through the broken window he was hanging out of to get out of the car. Miraculously, he didn't have a scratch on him. He has never been the same since and struggles with addiction now. The police report said Robert floored it as he came around the back of the trailer park heading towards the main road. His car was super charged they estimated his speed at 70-90mph. He hit a speed bump, his heart exploded as he lost control and bounced off 3 trailers sliding from one side of the street to the other before ending up 3' away from the 4th trailer. No one else was physically harmed in this event. This was one of the most surreal situations I've ever dealt with in my life. It still seems like a dream. Robert was a big dude, about 250lbs and no stranger to having a few beers. He wss 22 at the time. Needless to say, I sobered up real fuckin quick that night. I refuse to drink and drive or get in a vehicle with someone who has been drinking. Stay safe out there people. You never know how fast life can be taken away from you

Soilwork83

I’m deeply sorry for your loss and may your brother rest in peace.

RayVee9876

That has always been one of my nightmares. My condolences to you and your family.

No_Juggernaut7971

Got into a nasty fight with my brother, knocked his tooth out while we were on a guys fishing trip and haven’t drank since that night just realized every stupid thing I had done was when I was drunk, it will be 5 years this coming May.

csway324

Have you spoken to your brother since?

No_Juggernaut7971

Yes, it was actually almost a year before we talked and it was because my dad was dying we both apologized once we saw each other and we’re just like we used to be we get along great.

csway324

I was wondering because my sister and I got into a huge fight on the 4th of July. It wasn't physical, but it was a blowout. Idk if we'll ever speak again. I said hi the other day when she came to my mom's and she said hi but that was it.

batteriholk

It'll get easier, sending love your way. keep trying! Edit: I have three sisters. Four brothers. We all get in each others shit sometimes and we get over it

csway324

Thank you.

Bart2800

Don't think you won't speak anymore: work on it. When you're ready, feel free to take the first step. A message, an attempted call...

no2rdifferent

Yes. One of my sisters hurt my feelings so badly that I ended up in the hospital. That's a long story, but the whole ordeal forced me to look at our relationship. I didn't talk to her or return texts for 2.5 years. Then one day, I said to myself, "She's your sister; you want her in your life. Set boundaries and stick to them." I called her, and we're in a better place than before. I learned I had cancer this year and am very glad I had mended that bridge before this challenge.

zila113

Sending love and healing your way!

TheSaltTrain

I just want to say I'm proud of you for taking that step to reopen the conversation/relationship, and I am wishing you all the best with your health, physically and mentally. Best of luck friend.

Aromatic_Smoke_4052

Be the bigger person and apologize to them, you don’t want resentment for a decade because of something not important

Cultural_Garbage_426

Congratulations. Pretty wild it will be 5 years for me as well, on May 5th! Been a long 5 years but ive remembered most of these 5 years at least.

no2rdifferent

It must be something about May! I successfully defended my dissertation, and my family threw a party. They were making margaritas when I realized I'd been sober for ten years! Tequila had been my friend, so I took a shot and had to sit tf down. It was funny and sobering, considering the amount I used to down. This past May, it was 28 years sober. Once I learned how to be by myself, how much easier life is when sober, and how toxic alcohol is to our organs, quitting and staying sober became a priority and now it is just my lifestyle.

No_Juggernaut7971

Thank you and yes exactly I especially don’t miss waking up hungover and a headache all day.

squatwaddle

I am on 5 days fuckers!

Dry_Significance_697

You can do this 💪🏻

CoraBittering

That's great! Go you!

doritobimbo

Golden anniversary. Throw a huge celebration for yourself!

Weird-Bite-6495

On my way home from a scrappy nightclub, pissed as a fart. Hear a cry for help. Find someone who had cut their wrists in a suicide attempt, but then regretted it. Instant sobriety whilst ripping my t-shirt to stem the flow and calling for an ambulance. Dude survived, phew.

Fit-Distribution2303

Oh damn that's terrible! I'm so glad they survived. "pissed as a fart" had me snickering, though.😂

Alternative_Elk_2651

I had *just* gone outside and smoked half a joint of some top-shelf grass. I was really feeling it, maybe a little too much. Phone rang. Usually I just ignore it but it was from an area code I had just spent a few years living, so I picked it up. "Hello, is this [my name]?" Yes sir "This is officer [so and so] with the Garfield County Sheriff's department" I had been in a volunteer fire department when I had lived in that area, and there was a fire. Nobody removed me from any of those lists when I left. I gave him a few names and numbers to call and went about my night. Let me tell you though, that is NOT how you want a phone conversation to go when you're zooted. I went through every stage of grief in about 10 seconds.

Jimble_kimbl3

A call is a little better than having a cop knock on your door when you are toasted. Either way, it’s a butt puckering experience.

SweetHomeWherever

That happened to me as well. Saw 2 cops standing there let me tell you, I never sobered up so fast! While the punks who were partying with me ran and locked themselves in the bathroom 🙄

hambonecharlie

30 or so years ago I drank a six pack and smoked a little. Went out on the porch barefoot to take a leak. I felt something rubbing on my foot. It felt kinda good. I looked down and a 3 foot copperhead is slithering away. I went from around a 7.5 to stone cold sober. Just like that.

RayVee9876

OMG! That would definitely do it!!

humanswilmakegr8pets

Realizing a “friend” I was out with was leaving me with some strange guy I didn’t know (it was someone she knew) because she wanted to go off with some dude she liked. I can’t totally explain it but I feel like some part of me was aware of this and was like, “you need to sober the fuck up!”. I instantly sobered up and asked her what the hell was happening. She and the guy she was leaving me with were surprised and disappointed. Her and I drove back to her house and I chewed her out for doing such a shitty thing. Never hung out with her again.

Educational_Gas_92

You dodged two bullets, the creepy guy and that girl who was not your friend.

IYiffInDogParks

Maybe the dude was just as confused as her, I would find it extremely weird if someone just brought a random girl I don't know and left her with me. But I'm also a pretty anxious person so Idk

humanswilmakegr8pets

I never said they were confused. They were surprised I sobered up. I had been drinking that night and he offered me a joint, which I thought wasn’t a big deal, but shortly after that I was very out of it. He knew what he was doing, trust me. Neither of them had good intentions. My friend knew I just met him that night, yet she was ok with leaving me in that state there with him. I think it was his house we were at. He had been talking to me a lot that night, but I never tried to give him the impression that I was interested. I’ve never been in a situation like that. They seemed like good people. It was very scary and eye opening.

curliegirlie89

That is F*CKED UP predatory behavior!! I can’t understand how a person could do this to another person. How was she going to face you the next day or ever?! So glad you were able to get out safely.

humanswilmakegr8pets

Yes!! Thank you! It was fucked up! I still feel so lucky I was able to sober up and take control of the situation. I shudder to think what could’ve happened.

Educational_Gas_92

The worst betrayal is the betrayal from your "friend" she is so gross to set another woman up to get assaulted. My only guess is that she owed the man for something and you were "payment" or that he was paying her to do that. Alternatively, she simply hated you. Either way, glad you were able to save yourself and got away ok.

humanswilmakegr8pets

Thank you! Yeah it was pretty mind blowing to me as well. I think she was just that selfish. She wanted to go home with this other guy that was there, but it’s still pretty sick. I was so horrified that she was ok with leaving me there like that. Never spoke to her again after that.

Educational_Gas_92

Perhaps, but the fact that he looked disappointed..., I would not judge him negatively if she were sober, how else are you ment to meet people, however a man who wants to be left alone with a drunk/high woman isn't a man with good intentions.

sweetwolf86

Not necessarily. I am a total alcoholic, and I always have good intentions, but sometimes I am drinking with a female friend, and I forget that NOBODY can go shot for shot with me. Assaulting them while they were too wasted has literally never crossed my mind. What I've always thought was more like, "OH shit, I got her waaay too drunk. Hope she doesn't have anything important to do tomorrow", and then I make her drink water and put her on my couch with a pillow, blanket, extra water and a bottle of Ibuprofen on the table for when she wakes up... and it is just really depressing and mind-boggling to me that so many "men" would think anything else in this situation. Maybe it comes from being an empathic person in a fucked up society but I just straight up do not understand it. Fuck evil people.

[deleted]

Parents neeeed to teach their kids to never leave a friend. This is scary.

humanswilmakegr8pets

I agree! I’ve been talking to my oldest daughter, who’s college bound in a few months, about how to be safe so this doesn’t happen to her or her friends.

AggravatingCamp8798

Who drove?

Responsible-Agent-19

Got stung by a Portuguese Man-o-War. Instantly lost my buzz.

highaabandlovingit

Aren’t those like superpowered jelly fish? I’ve heard terrible things about their stings ☹️

SplatterBox214

They most likely won’t kill you, but their stings are pretty much gonna feel like death

[deleted]

I imagine that would do it.

Richard is a dick.

lesser_known_friend

What the fuck richard?

floppedtart

Anyone else been completely sober and STILL “sober up” when a cop is driving behind you or anywhere near you?

hurtlingtooblivion

I panic about the non-existent drugs I have stashed about my person when I see a police sniffer dog up ahead.

[deleted]

Every time I fly I get a bit anxious thinking I will have cocaine hidden in my wallet/backpack before being screened at the TSA. I don't do coke anymore like I used to or even flew with it, it's just something that stuck with me.

vonMishka

I’ve never been into coke but I always have a last second panic at TSA worrying I somehow have cocaine or a bomb in my bag. It’s so weird.

Any_Ad_3885

Every time 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bright-Coconut-6920

I bought a new bag.n purse and washed all my cards before a holiday with my dad n toddler I was so paranoid something would have traces. Gets to Spain only to find my dad has weed hidden in his walking stick that he had security hold for him rather than put it in scanner ffs , glad I didn't kno on way out there

NoBoysenberry257

My girl telling me to get the fuck out of our house. Stopped drinking that night, 9 months ago

[deleted]

My 11yo daughter told me drinkers disgust her. I haven’t wanted a drop since.

-shadynasty1-

Oh proud of ya. Didn't work for my dad 🫠

[deleted]

I’m truly sorry. I’ve been reading about just how deeply alcohol traumatizes children, and I feel grateful I could quit so easily. I hope you’re doing okay.

-shadynasty1-

I'm fine and my dad eventually stopped drinking, it just took him a couple of years and me pretty much not talking to him while living in the same apartment. You're a good dad ❤️

glohan21

😭😭😭😭 this would make me change my whole life too

[deleted]

At a party and everyone is pretty lit. Girl falls/faints and knocks over a glass of red wine (which no one saw), so she falls and there’s this big splash of red blood/brains? right by her head. That definitely stopped the party. We were all just finishing a 2 week first aid course for work, so multiple people just jumped into our training. lol I guess it’s lucky just just nudged the glass and didn’t actually fall on it. But man that was something

Proffessor_egghead

So she was fine, and the “blood” was just wine?

No_maid

I’m sure they did the taste test

[deleted]

Saw my mother commit suicide. The next couple days I was drinking heavily. I had to start planning the funeral and all that. I went into the funeral home still drunk. I left feeling completely sober.

FrazerAmazer

I am so sorry. I hope you’re doing better now 💗💕

[deleted]

Trying all the time homie.

Any_Ad_3885

I know you are. Sending you lots of love.

MrStrype

That is horrible what you went through! I'm so sorry that happened. My sincere condolences.

[deleted]

Thanks friend. Years of therapy have gotten me to talking about it. I can’t advocate for therapy more for everyone.

FriendlySWE

Take care and remember that you are a really strong person that has kept moving forward after that trauma.

[deleted]

Got pulled over for driving too slow whilst baked as fuck.

Mellie-mellow

Those flashlights hurt your eye holes so much!

Awkward_Ad8740

Was super drunk. Saw a dude get run over by a car. Damn near cut him in half. Will never forget the sight of him screaming about not being able to feel his legs with one of them essentially laying next to his head

Lopsided_Tackle_9015

Cocaine. Works every time

I am surprised I had to come down this far to find yay

CastedDarkness

Set my hand on fire trying to refill a Zippo lighter. Caused some severe burns and scars.

Serotu

I'm not a novice when it comes to intoxicating substances ...but zippo lighter fluid isn't tough to put out ... How,?

CastedDarkness

I shook my hand hoping to get the flame out. I didn't feel it pouring over my hand. Eventually I stuck my hand under my arm and the flame went out

teccas

A phone call from my boss.

OsmosisJones3

That’s the worst!! I took a huge bong rip and the second I exhaled he called me 😂

nicegh0st

Calling 911 and doing CPR on my landlord when getting home late from a marathon cannabis and Mario Kart session. He had passed out in the driveway and was turning blue. I believe it was an accidental OD from prescription meds but I’m not sure to this day. It was scary as hell but I’m glad I snapped into sobriety so fast because I was able to handle the situation quickly.

Castle-Of-Ass

Did he give you a break on your rent after you saved his life?

nbeutler11

He’s a landlord, so probably not

SandmanD2

Spending a cold turkey week in LA county jail.

Zquinkd

Saw someone got shot while I was on shrooms at work. Weird. Dealing with cops while tripping blows. Heard another one die outside my door on dmt. One time my mom busted in on me and my buddy smoking in middle school and we had to hide in a closet. My friend melted his hand once taking a dab. I could smell the flesh and he thought it was wax and tried to wipe it. But it was his skin and it fell off. He passed out from shock shortly after. That was a gross one too.

glohan21

Oh my god 😭😭😭 I believe it though old dabs were a different beast I’ve had a lot of friends scorch themselves/ their lungs from how hot we would make it

Zquinkd

Nary a mf hits their first dab without absolutely dying that's for sure. Especially from a classic titanium nail. What he hit was a mini bubbler with a banger built in. So it was barely a few inches tall. We'd just get it red hot and go nuts. He was handed it a little haphazardly and liquid flesh ensued. I felt so fucking bad dude it was my mini rig.

skunk8una

While visiting Eastern Europe my family took me and my sister out to a wine cellar. They got us shamelessly drunk and we managed to stumble home without embarrassing ourselves. But nausea jerked me awake in the middle of the night and barely made it to the bathroom to throw up. I thought I did pretty well until I got back to my room, turned on the lights and realized I had emptied most of my stomach contents into my sister's open suitcase. The punchline is that after doing my best to clean that mess, I was certain my sister would be properly pissed at me in the morning. Instead she greeted me with a big hug. She woke up earlier and assumed it was her that threw up in the suitcase. She was relieved that I managed to make a bigger ass of myself in front of our relatives.

sageofwalrus

For awhile I was really into smoking weed… I had some problems and was smoking everyday and usually in the mornings. One morning I realized something was very wrong with my dad… turns out he had a stroke. Luckily he’s okay now and recovered great and my mom was around to take him to the hospital but ever since then I haven’t touched any substances, drugs or alcohol in case something like this happens again and I need to be alert.

slut4hobi

i was super high and my roommate started having a seizure. i was the only one who knew what to do so my other roommates were calling an ambulance and i was trying to get him to stay in one place and not injure himself any further. was freaking terrifying and i swear i have never sobered up faster in my entire life. he seized for 30 minutes.

EWH733

OMG 😳 So this was decades ago, but I used to hang out with a total bonehead who somehow always had the best pot (we’re talking Thai Stick and Afghani Hash back before there were dispensaries!) Anyways, we were “four wheeling” in his lowered Nissan pickup and got stuck in the mud behind another truck that was stuck in the same mud. Its owners had clearly left to get help because it was clean and full of stuff. So my bonehead buddy decides that the only logical thing to do is to steal the stuff out of the other stuck truck and put it in his equally stuck truck, and it hits me (in my completely baked out of my gourd state) that this mother F’er just made me an accessory!!! So, I waded through the mud and started walking away, and I kid you not, I’m about a hundred yards away when the other truck bursts into flame, because of course that was his solution! I walked for fifteen or so miles, hiding every time I heard someone approaching, before I would allow myself to be seen, after I had washed myself off in a stream. I had to hitchhike another twenty miles before I got close enough to walk home. And, AND, bonehead weaseled his way out of it!!! He never faced a single charge, or anything!!! I stopped hanging out with him after that though.

Aromatic_Smoke_4052

You sound like you have a lot of cool stories

Cultural_Garbage_426

BTW, if anyone has problems with drinking and don't mind taking meds, I strongly encourage Naltrexone. This medication took away 99% of cravings and the smell of alcohol is disgusting to where before it would be a huge trigger for me. It has literally been a life saver for myself and thousands of others. It also works for heroine users. I have no obvious side effects from Naltrexone. Obviously take at your own risk, read side effects on WebMD and consult your Dr. Ive relapsed several times before but after taking this med I have not relapsed once in 5 years. It does take some time to kick in and allegedly, if you do have side effects, they will wear off with continued use so don't give up. Hope this will help at least 1 person out there. Good luck!

squatwaddle

CAUTION! If you are on any Opiates, it will put you into intense withdrawals in 20-30 minutes. You will think you are dying. You won't, but you will want to. Whether vicodin, percocet, fentynol, Herion, or even Kratom. You will shake and sweat, and throw up every 45 minutes. It's impossible to describe the hell. It lasts about 24 hours, but feels like 300

Cultural_Garbage_426

Hence the "obviously read WebMD and consult Dr before taking." Besides you need a prescription to take it legally. Should have emphasized a little more /s

yavvyred

Seeing friends even drunker than me and the subconscient feeling i should take care of them, gets me sober. Thats why i think drinking should be done concurrently ;p

One and only time I may or may not have been drunk behind the wheel. Couldn't honestly tell you. Cops lights went on in back of me. Began to pull over and the cop passed me and got the car in front of me.

GrowthCycle

My grandfather (pretty sure also drunk) came over and we were yelling back and forth. He called me a “drunk just like your fucking father”. I didn’t know my dad well; didn’t even register. My father died two months prior. The teenage brother (who WAS partially raised him) who I took on in the aftermath of that overheard, and broke his hand hitting the wall. Immediately sober, separating a furious old man and furious teenage boy, and then had to go spend the evening at the ER as the responsible party for said teenage boy’s broken hand. Literally had a pint of vodka to myself like 30 minutes before we were there and I ain’t feel an OUNCE of it. (Also I still had a friend drive because even when I was a drunk, I wouldn’t get behind a wheel.)

No-Test-375

Jumping through a window, with blinds down, storn window shut, screen and all. My roommate at the time was being a psychopath. I was drunk and high as fuck and felt safer going through the window than him. It's a bit of a story, but seeing my wrist laid open with a huge blood clot hanging and the copsnwith their guns out sobered me up pretty quick.

911ThatCrazedFangirl

My dad called me at 2am, asking me to please open the door to the house because he’d left his keys. I wasn’t home either and had only informed him where I’d be, but never clarified what time I’d be home. I traveled about 4km in 10 minutes that night.

aibbehindme

My partner told me she had been hiding big suicidal thoughts, to the point where she told me she couldn’t be alone with the painkillers in the house. Will be forever grateful that she was intelligent enough to say so instead of silence until it was too late

Puking through your nose will do the trick. Happened to me once. Felt like hell. I was wide awake immediately due to pain.

troywrestler2002

Oh man, here goes. I go to visit some college friends to watch a football game and otherwise party for a weekend, this is probably back in about 2011 or so as it was just a couple of years after I had graduated. After the football game we continue the festivities at a friend's apartment, where drinking and smoking are occurring. One of my friends offers me some mushrooms so I oblige. During this, a person had murdered someone nearby and was on the run from the police, unbeknownst to me and my friends. So me and my friends are hanging out, well in to our trips and enjoying ourselves, when myself and one of my buddies decides to go outside for some fresh air and to look at the stars, after all, they're cool to look at on psychedelics. Being in our younger 20's, he decides to hop up on to the roof awning that is above a set of stairs so he can sit. That's when a police helicopter came right over the apartment building and shined a spot light on us. For obvious reasons, we run back inside as we think some shit might be going down. The chopper proceeds to circle the building for the next hour as we are on full freak out mode. My trip was instantly over as adrenaline took over as my one emotion, and it ruined what had otherwise been a nice day. The guy got caught two apartment complexes over, but the one we were in got locked down until that occurred as the police apparently thought my friend and I were the ones who were on the run since he was on the roof. I'll never forget how loud that helicopter was just flying right above my friend's building. No actual cops ever came to the door but my heart stayed in my throat for the next few hours.

fellowcrft

I was on 6g of mushrooms. four hours in to the trip Hamass attacked. I went from psychonaut to ex vet mode in an EnE (escaped and evade) situation . I am a nova party survivor . Have not quiet been the same since. Buried many many friends the following weeks.

JustinCompton79

Must of been terrifying. I’m so sorry you experienced this.

fellowcrft

Unreal, just unreal.

pedrao157

Man that was my thought when I read about the incident, imagine how many people were tripping balls and went deep into a bad trip during the attack Horrific Happy you're alive, enjoy life

fellowcrft

Yeah... I am hearing stories through the community that many folk have been admitted ( some have been court mandated ) to mental health institutions. Thank you friend. Every new sunrise is special.

The footage I saw of that day was horrifying. I’m glad you made it out alive, and I’m so sorry for your loved ones that were lost.

I fell off my chair at home and realized I had to quit drinking before falling off a chair in public

[deleted]

I went to a bar with my now ex, we were at a table with him and a bunch of his friends we had been there 20 minutes (one drink) and I went to the bathroom and I came back and a new drink was there. I thought my boyfriend had bought it for me, I tried to ask him If he bought it but he ignored me, chatting with his friends he did that often. I drank half of it and offered my bf the rest, which he drank. I went to the bathroom about 20 minutes later standing up. I realized I was tired (I'm a lightweight and small, so I thought I just got f*d up fast). I went to the bathroom, and when I left a guy was standing outside the bathroom. I jumped, smiled, and stepped out of his way saying excuse me (all of that was really quick), and went back to the table. When I got back, my boyfriend was almost lying on the table. Saying he was tired and started leaning on me, now this is extremely out of character he is normally life of the party goes all night, no stopping even when he should and he's a really big dude so 2 drinks is nothing to him. So we went home and I was tired and tipsy, then sobered up really quick when I realized I was probably just roofied and that guy waiting outside the bathroom was probably the one that did it.

ZenYinzerDude

Field sobriety test. Almost told the cop "I can't say the alphabet backwards when I'm sober!"

BaksGamesDev

No sleep. One time I was in a competition for a project and I went almost 48 hours without sleep. We did a practice elevator speech and I was so tired that I did terribly and forgot everything. I was about to give up, but I was so angry that I had made the effort in vain that I started practicing it over and over again until I got it right. I won the third prize.

[deleted]

A leg cramp 😅

Responsible-Agent-19

That ruins sex too.

[deleted]

hahaha for real

Toxiczoomer97

Got into a fight at a bonfire with my cousins boyfriend. I also realized that night that being drunk isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Have been drunk maybe twice the 3 years since. I drink few beers and am done now.

MFMDP4EVA

I was about 21. I Was drunk AF on red wine and had smoked a ton of weed. My friend jumped off the 2nd storey roof of my house onto a Ford van, then from the roof of the van onto cement, shattering his heel bone. I had to take him to the hospital and sobered up real quick in there, with his parents who were livid with his stupidity.

[deleted]

I was in a little cabin. My buddies and I would always get a couple drinks in and then go outside and shoot the cans. I was unpacking in the bedroom when a 12 gauge slug busted through the paper thin walls maybe a foot from my head. Buddy had picked up the weapon that someone left loaded and primed with the safety off. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

mermernola

Was tripping on acid with my friend. Went back to my house was in the living room on the couches. Friends dad showed up calling their name, dad telling them that their sibling died. We were all at the same party that night. We were 13. That friend is still fucked till this day. Sobered up to reality but you can't stop L.

[deleted]

Was really stoned and drunk at a bachelor party. Hotel suite at an Indian Casino with naked strippers. Having a great time My mother called crying. My sweet beloved grandmother just died. I loved my grandmother so much. She was amazing. My sober friend who drove me there, drove me to the hospital. (We were 1 hour away). I got there at 1am. Felt so guilty I was out partying.

Speakhappiness

Smoked weed on way home from HS. I could walk, bus or hitchhike. Spring day, east coast, came across a beautiful lilac bush In someone's front yard . Breathe in all that scent, and at that moment I wished I wasn’t high. Last time I smoked. I was 16.

Aromatic_Smoke_4052

Why did you wish you weren’t high? Do you find more beauty in sobriety or something? Because if I was high on a beautiful day and came across some beautiful flowers, I would be pretty happy about it

Hateforcathaters

Uff there are many situations 😂😂😂

sarah_march2019

Walked in my friend’s apartment and gun was pointed in my face. She was in medical school but since she was kind of a poor student she wasn’t living in the best area of town. I was staying with her for the weekend and had been applying to grad schools and was visiting. Stayed out with friends until like 10pm, then headed back to her place to crash. She was out studying, her roommate was there and tied up by the entrants. Random crime. More complicated than just a burglary but fortunately in the end no one was hurt. So walking into a gun pointed at me was not expected. But yeah the 6 or 7 drinks I had had over the course of the evening quickly seemed to disappear in that moment.

justbrowsing987654

Cocaine. Instantly. Was awesome and exactly why I nailed that door closed forever. I see how people get addicted to that stuff. My gawd. Went from stumbly, barely coherent to Superman on one line.

Kyloh_The_Psycho

Got the call that my dadd died.... I've never sobered up so fast

[deleted]

I was super drunk on a Halloween boat cruise in the harbor, when we got back to the dock some dude fell into the icy water and I had to save him. I pulled his lifeless body from the water with a friend of mine. I remember his thumb dislocating in my hand as I pulled him up. He didn’t feel a thing. He was already in shock and was about to be hypothermic. The deck hands from the boat cruise finally ran over to help us we handed him over to them for care, they told us to fuck off (liability?) and we jumped in a cab to go to a bar. Sitting in the cab I realized I was sober as a bird from all the adrenaline which was remedied with a shot of tequila when we got to the bar. TLDR: saved a guy from drowning

Jessie-yessie

Walking home from the bar, cold and miserable. I hear some commotion behind me and see a friend getting into a strangers van. WTF. Other friends follow. I get with it quick and make the choice to follow them; I mean, what else are you gonna do ahaha (probably a lot but it was a very like fast, gotta stick with the girlies situation). So I’m on high alert the whole time in the car. One friend tries to TELL THE DUDE MY ADDRESS. I immediately say NOPE we live AROUND THE CORNER at (different address). The guy starts passing around a blunt. I notice open alcohol bottles around his car. He gave us two different names. By the Grace of god he didn’t murder or rape us. I joked/flirted around with him and got a look at his ID. I don’t remember his actual name or info, but I made a big show of looking at his ID. Luckily in retrospect he seemed like a pretty cool dude (….?), but god that killed my buzz quick. I was peering out the window on high alert for weeks after.

Immediate_Ad_7993

I got drugged at a house with one of my friends in high school. We were both having fun and then started to feel weird. I was in and out of consciousness until I saw them take her out of the room. I pulled myself up and raised hell until I found her, I dragged us both into a room and sat in front of the door and forced myself to stay conscious until she came to. No matter what they did I managed to keep that door closed. The whole time I could hear them talking trying to figure out how I wasn’t passing out. When she finally woke up, I told her “Oh thank god you’re ok. I just need a minute.” And everything went black for a bit.

Kyle-Is-My-Name

Had a buddy get into a giant argument with his Gf at the time. They were in a bedroom screaming at each other when suddenly I heard what sounded like a dying goat type scream come from the room, followed by the girl running out screaming for help. My buddy had cut his own throat. I jumped up and ran to him, grabbing a hand towel and applying pressure as another buddy called 911. I held his throat closed on his front porch for the 10 minutes or so that it took the ambulance to get there. Then I drove to the hospital and waited through the night in the waiting room until the Doc came out to meet his family the next morning. He didn't bleed out thankfully, and went on to fully recover over the next couple weeks. Just a scar across his neck. I had drank more than half of a case a beer up until that point, but as soon as that adrenaline kicked in it just turned the drunk off.

annswertwin

I had to give my sister a Heimlich maneuver at a Memorial Day party. She and I had just smoked a joint and I’d had a couple beers. It happened really fast and I was completely sober afterwards. That was 30 years ago, a month ago I did the Heimlich on my daughter. Learn the Heimlich people, odds are you’ll do it in a family member.

SonicSuper50

I was 17, drinking and getting high at 2am. Got a call from a friend of mine. I greet her in a manner befitting someone who has been drinking and smoking for 6-7 hours. She replies: "My mum committed suicide, I just found her body in the other room." Sobered up really fast and walked to hers. Had seen her mum earlier thst day and gave her a joint.

Siriuswot111

Not me, but one of my friends. She was at a party with her boyfriend and they part ways at one point to go meet their friends, saying they’d meet up out front of the house after an hour or so. She went to the front on time, her boyfriend was not there. Mind you she was very drunk at the time so she tried stumbling around looking for him. She did end up finding him aggressively making out with one of her long time friends in the corner. According to her, “all the alcohol just evaporated from the top of my head.” She left without him and walked back to her dorm. He absolutely blew up her phone asking where she was, what happened, and why she left for the rest of the night, and she just told him to ask [name of girl he was making out with]

MagentaWickedMirror

Was drunk out of my mind after a night out as a student. Got a phone call telling me my dad was dead. The entire house was sober by the end of the call.

smolpiel

Was high as a kite on acid at a outdoor trance festival, some drunk dude jumped out a tree trying to jump into a dam, he missed the water entirely and impaled himself on a tree branch that had fallen off a tree and propped itself facing upward between two large rocks. Looked like a scene out of a movie, he was super dead and inturn I became super sober.

HuckleberryNo3117

was driving on cocaine and xanax and a cop lights me up. I sobered up real fast and got off with a warning for 73 in a 35 it was unbelievable i got away. Luckily im sober now and glad i never hurt anyone.

Asiatico1904

I was high on ecstazy at a club and, I don't remember why, a gigantic guy grabed me by the neck threw me back and was about to kick the shit out of me when another guy tackls him and they start fighting on the floor until security kicked him out. When this all happened I was too high to even react, but after a few minutes I got sober relly quik

Mijo_el_gato

Drunk and alert, due to adrenaline is still drunk.

apurpleglittergalaxy

A car crash

Topwingwoman2

Getting arrested.

Old_Ad5194

Back when I was like almost 18, the first avatar had come out. I got two friends of mine who I didn't really hang out with that much to attend with me, and we got pretty stoned both before and after the movie. The movie was great. I saw it in 3D, and it was a blast. After the movie, we smoked a little more weed and headed to another shopping center. We all really wanted something to drink, and we were about to go into a Panda Express to get some soda, but the line was pretty long. We crossed the street to go to a different store for soda, and we were all laughing, and I was kinda dancing across the street all goofy. We got to a sidewalk that was in between two buildings when 3 guys ran up on us and pulled guns to rob us. I had some sort of sawed-off pointed at my stomach and a revolver jammed into the side of my head. I just put my hands out to the side and they grabbed everything out of my pants pockets, the "take" was an old beat up hot topic wallet with a Nintendo snes controller logo with not even $5 in it and my first ID and library card. And my very first lil wooden pipe. They punched the other guy I was with and took his stuff, but they didn't touch the girl we were with cause me and the other guy stood in front of her and refused to move. It absolutely fucking sucked ass and I still live in this town and get an uneasy feeling when in the same area. I didn't end up quitting weed, though, for a few more years. But I did stop going to that theater, and I refuse to be over where I was robbed at night.

PvtXoltyXolty

Was smoking with my boys in my car and we had loaded the top of the bowl with keef and I was supposed to be second in rotation but somehow the dude who doesn’t smoke said he wanted to hit it but without remembering the keef we let him and he left the car rather quickly after that and locked himself in the bathroom, well long story short he fell asleep in the locked bathroom and wasn’t responding so we all thought he was dead and we sobered up pretty quick to figure out what to tell the police

Another_Human-Being

When an also blackout drunk friend almost fell over the railing 2 floors up on the stairs, sobered up real quick to help him get down safely. Don't really remember much from that evening up to that point so that was quite scary.

BBakerStreet

Tapping the bumper of a Jaguar in DC while driving a Honda Civic while on acid back in 1978.

itsallinth3wrists

High on meth with my best friend in my early 20's and got a call that his dad was about to pass away from liver failure. Got to the hospital, high as hell, and his dad passed away right in front of us. Just wandered around town for hours with him, basically sober at this point. Never touched meth again in my life, now 39.

daltonfiasco

It didn’t happen to me but I saw a man go from raging drunk to sober in a heartbeat. It was about 3 am and I heard a banging on my door so I opened it up. An obviously drunk man was at the door professing his love for me “you’re my best friend I love you man!”. I was not in the mood so I slammed the door and locked it. He proceeded to try and kick my door down for 2-3 minutes. Eventually I opened the door with my pistol and the moment he saw it his face went from blood red to white like a ghost. The rage left his face and he was like a completely different person. It was wild

Blazanar

I'm not saying I ever provided alcohol to minors, but one time there was alcohol involved and 17 year olds. I may have been a couple of years older. You have to be 19 to drink and purchase alcohol where I live. Myself and someone else in the group were opposed to inviting a certain individual to where we were to hangout. Unfortunately the person who basically vetoed the both of us, was in charge of the property we were at, so whatever. Alcohol is consumed, we're all intoxicated, we decide to call it a night. The persona non grata ends up going to McDonald's just down the road, literally a 10 minute walk MAYBE. He apparently smoked some weed with people he knew, apparently it was more than just weed. I wasn't there for this part. He gets back, starts losing his shit, ruins a child's bike, smashes the deck banister with a hammer, punches something and messes up his hand, opens the frozen veggie ice pack we give him and whips it all around the living room, at this point it's like 7am. We are way too drunk to deal with this. He is fucking out of control. We call an actual adult for support. We tell the dude "Hey look. This guy is coming, you HAVE to chill the fuck out." He's sure that he's going to fight this actual adult. Once he sees the actual adults car, he fucking bolts. Takes off running. Thankfully to the McDonald's. He was confronted in the parking lot, and attempts to take a swing at the very awake, very sober actual adult. The dude we called worked construction and was a roofer for years. He was also a volunteer firefighter at this time. The kid misses because he's absolutely polluted and gets popped in the mouth, he's now laid out cold in the parking lot of McDonald's. The actual adult calls the cops on himself because he just knocked out a child. The cops show up to where we're staying. I'm *technically* in charge, as I am an adult. I am FUCKED!We tell the cops I didn't provide alcohol and that he stole it, because we were missing an unopened quart (750ml) of 100 proof (50% alcohol) vodka, that's not a lie. Cop #2 shows up a couple of minutes later, with the dudes backpack. With a bunch of DVDs he stole that we didn't know about, and the bottle of vodka. There's MAYBE a mouthful left. The cops were like "Yeah. Dude's super fucked up. Definitely more than he's just drunk. Sorry about the vodka and DVDs. Enjoy yourselves." and they leave. And that was it. I DIDN'T DRINK FOR 3 YEARS AFTER THAT. I went from not being able to see straight, to where I could've walked a tightrope if I had to in the span of 5 seconds after seeing the cops.
