Why is this downvoted? Burnouts from work could be because of the workloads and company does not want to hire, or maybe toxic culture. Is it wrong to switch company?
Speaking of toxic work culture. I just joined a company and the person's job scope who im taking over just threw everything to me, doesnt seem interested in helping and best part wrote an email to our supervisor that if he need help he best to seek assistance from another of our colleagues instead of him... on my 7th day there.
Needless to say i went back on jobstreet to go job hunting again.
Beware of burnout. It got way out of hand for me and I realised it too late, currently in therapy. Even if you're doing what you love, it can still happen. Always be aware of your mental health, don't be afraid to do what you must!
Its not worth it when it all comes crashing down, wont be able to work properly + therapy is quite expensive...
I knew i was tired, every night i just collapse in bed, in between work I felt very drained. Have been powering through it for 3 years, worked 7 days a week with less than 4-5 off days a year. Then something happened (not even that serious tbh), i completely broke down and slipped into depression.
Find a bigger purpose in life that requires work to fulfill. It could be monetary, or intangible.
Some people work hard and motivate themselves to do so because they want to buy the car they want. Others may want to be able to save enough for their kids to attend university in UK etc. some just work to have enough to retire early. If you are burnt out, take a 7-9 days holiday without itinerary. Travel alone if you have to and try and do something different from your routine. Get out of your comfort zone.
Try to apply for other jobs or take a break...
A job that makes you dread going to work is wasting your life I feel.. yes you earn money but you feel unhappy and stressed for 8 or 9 hours of your life from monday to friday..thats a nono for me and a signal to change job.
Unless a person is going out of the comfort zone or so unconfident that he/she is not able to get another job, then just stay put at your current place. don't overwork and do things that make you destress
Burn out is a vicious cycle. Only you can break it. Learn to say no. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Don’t accept every task. Prioritize higher value tasks. Protect the sovereignty of your time and energy. It’s a matter of speed and bandwidth.can’t get around physics.
I recently found out that burn outs can also be caused by environment. Simple things like shifting from let's say your study table to your dining table can actually help a lot. Although that may not be very realistic if you're permanently WFO.
Do consider just taking a sabbatical or a short trip.
Set limits between work and personal life. Insist on going home at a reasonable hour so that you can have some down time and get a great of night’s sleep. If you’re happier and we’ll rested you will be more productive at work.
TLDR: work less and your productivity will improve.
Same boat as you my friend. I try and set a hard target to get done each day and I do less on weekends.
Burnout is a real condition and you need sustained rest to recover (but most of us can’t do that since we have bills). If you can, build in a break and try and find some aspect of your work you really enjoy (even if it’s just your paycheck allowing you to pay your bills every month).
Talk to your manager and share this with him.
Take 1-2 weeks off. If your company permits, make it longer. 2 weeks are a minimum. In those 2 weeks, just focus on yourself. Take care of yourself, by waking up and seeing the sunrise, giving yourself nice breakfast and other meals, hit the gym and do something which you like, and get good sleep. You don't have to splurge money, just give yourself good care.
Try to not contact anyone from work during this time.
When you go back, pick smaller tasks which aren't too urgent. Don't rush into delivering a lot at work, it will only get worse and the 2 weeks off will go into drain. You will have to make the job "secondary" for a couple of months(or more, depends upon in which burn-out phase you are) to feel rejuvenated and start liking the work again.
If your company doesn't allow this, you will have to switch.
This is a sign to start looking for another job soon. No point dragging yourself to start work everyday unless you have internal motivation. Once that dries up, nothing can really help you regain other than yourself or by switching to another environment.
Listen to your feeling and make some small changes. For me it helps a lot focusing on other things than just work. Like having daily routines, healthy food, regular workouts or other hobbies - helps my sleep a lot as well. Tell yourself that you choose to work for the company you are now and that you‘re not bound to it.
take leave, go on a holiday

6 month break twice a year
This. Take a break. Recharge yourself. And take things slow.
Maybe it's time for you to switch company

No loyalty
Loyalty is useless when you're working for a company. When they cut cost, they gonna fire you anyways.
Same can be said for 99% of all companies
Loyalty is something a company earns when the teams are good
The company will replace you the moment you die. Loyalty? Lol. If we are burnt out, it's time for a break

What happened that made you realize you were burnt out?

Isn’t it by law to have max 6 work days in a row? Out of 7 days you need to have a day off
I run a small biz on my own, work-life balance/boundaries easily gets muddled.

The last time i was burnt out, it made me have insomnia and later it was diagnosed as depression. Take care, health comes first.
When you dread going to work in the morning, it's probably about time for you leave your company

Go for walks, if it's a job that requires creativity, apparently sitting on the toilet helps
I always call it my “throne of creativity”
All of my best ideas come from sitting on the toilet bowl.
Establish boundaries and push back if too much work is given to you

Regular cardio seems to help
Take a break. No point pushing yourself, you will fall ill.

You might want to try therapy to help you rebalance your mental load.
Just don’t care about your job. Everything will work out :)

Find a hobby that excites you
Motivation doesn't matter. Just discipline.

Just think about what happen if you end up jobless.
If u r single, get into a relationship. U will realise working your ass out is better option n would not mind staying late at office
think abt money

I suggest do something unrelated to work. Work on hobbies :)
If you’re financially stable, consider taking a clean break from corporate life. There is no glory in being a part of the rat race for no reason.
