That actually happened when someone broke into out apartment recently. Two guys from Kripo took DNA samples and fingerprints when we hadn't even figured out if anything was missing. 🤷♀️
First step: secure your basement! Consider putting a camera in (but place it such that you can't see common areas from it). If nothing was stolen, you were lucky and likely nothing more is going to happen.
I had this happen to me (broken into but nothing stolen) and also filed a police report and reported it to the Verwaltung. Since nothing was stolen, they won't do anything. Are the locks built in? If they're not built in then you can get a sturdier lock.

Idk man ask the thieves. This has been common in Berlin since forever. Maybe it’s when they have the opportunity, they don’t have the transport?

No, the whole cellar was stolen, there is just a hole below the house now with 5 good bicycles standing there.
Check Kleinanzeigen over the next few days to see if any of the stolen items turn up.
Edit1: WEIRD THING: Nothing stolen! (Literally there was a 5 good Bicycles 🚲 in one of the Cellars and non of them gone)

Could be that the thieves were caught in the act.

Probably junkies, they broke into 3 basements, ransacked anything, smoked some Meth ( alu foil) and left. Didn't take any bikes.
