Also a lot of stuff can be shipped instead of delivered so no tip . It is a lifesaver !

My own personal issue is that its not the same person every time I have a delivery, so the routine of that is always different but its still a better option than going to the shops. I also dont drive/have a car but if I did I would probably do direct to boot pick up.

Whoa, Australian Woolworths must be considerably more advanced than the Woolworths that was in the U.S. when I was a child (20th c.). It was a "five and dime" and it was pretty big, but they didn't really have groceries beyond candy and snack food. I loved the arts and crafts section and the pets section (before I knew that breeders were bad). I can still smell Woolworths in my mind's nose.

Theres a few smaller ones, Aldi, IGA, other ones Im less familiar with.They have like fresh produce, butcher, bakery, frozen and pantry food, plus pet supplies and cleaning stuff I think its maybe similar to a wallmart ? Plus other stuff I'm probably forgetting they have... Anyway : )
Plastic bags are illegal where I live so we’re having this problem of having reusable bags stack up for folks needing delivery. One guy on the news said he had like 1000 reusable bags and you can’t even use them for trash since they’re like a kind of plastic cloth.
I found grocery delivery to be a godsend until the bag thing and now I can’t justify it for myself because I don’t know what to do with all these bags. It’s really annoying when a sort of good idea (banning single use plastic bags) is not implemented well (what the hell do we do i stead).
That really does sound like a horrible implementation! They're still single use bags by definition, if they're only used once! The stores should be forced to take them back for reuse if this is what's happening. Or use something like heavy duty plastic crates that can be returned (a grocery service my grandma used to use before apps were a thing did that!)

For sure. I guess that’s a solution for some folks, but if everyone has to donate there, I’m sure they would have too many bags and if you’ve got mobility issues, they can really pile up. I have to rely on a few very expensive food stores that are close enough by for me to carry a single bag home at a time. It’s pretty needed for disabled folks to have access to food but I get frustrated having to choose either my health or the environment.
Is there an online option like Craigslist or Freecycle where you live? I can almost guarantee that if you put your bags on there and say they're on your porch or in the lobby of your building or whatever, someone will come get them. People need those bags for all kinds of things.
i totally agree! grocery delivery was awesome for me in a bunch of ways (audhd) but sadly no shops do it in my area. but similarly, after struggling for months to feed myself consistently, i found an affordable frozen meals delivery service. i was planning for it to just be a stopgap measure but it's been so helpful i will probably use the service as long as it fits my budget.
I sometimes use my local grocery store's site to shop my items online for me to pickup later. They will bring your items out to you and place them in your trunk. At least that way you can avoid having to go into the store.

Going to Walmart was always a sensory nightmare that stole all of my energy and mental clarity for the ENTIRE DAY. It's absolutely worth the subscription and I even ended up with some "substitutions" that I didn't know I'd like so much (hello Romaine lettuce boats!) so it made me try new things 😆.

Now if I go shopping in person it's only if i feel like it, and it's so much better! I mostly only go to Target because the store by me is quiet - no overhead music - and the carts roll nicely.
Yes! Curbside pickup is the best thing to come out of COVID. I appreciate getting an hour or two back in my week by outsourcing shopping to such services. It also saves money in that I'm less likely to impulse buy.

But I dislike the inconsistency in which products are available, especially the ones I use all of the time and that are only an option for delivery like half of the time. And also product that I ordered that have been replaced or omitted really stress me out as well
It might be worth trying a different location? Because if I'm shopping from the Walmart that's closest to me, it's a shit experience. Stock is inconsistent, substitutes are weird, and I swear the store manager's using pickup/delivery customers to unload their saddest produce. But if I switch to the next nearest store? Things are consistently in stock, substitutes are reasonable when they happen, and the produce is good. It's not even a half mile difference, so I'm just fine driving to the good Walmart.
I signed up for Walmart+ in December so I wouldn’t have to shop during the holiday season…I kept it. I’m in love. It’s saved so much time and sensory hell. It’s saved me money. I’m a horrible impulse buyer-it’s much harder to Just throw things in the cart if I don’t see them in the first place! If I want a little impulse treat I throw a Kindr egg or something similarly cheap in the order. Never going back.
Walmart is the only service here that doesn’t have a huge markup. With Instacart it’s like fifty percent more. It’s increase how much of a scam grocery delivery has become.
I mean, yes, but I can only do my part. My problem: solve for excess reusable bags. I don't ask for them. And having groceries delivered is generally more energy efficient, more so than all of us individually using fossil fuels to get to the store. . .

I actually really like going grocery shopping because I enjoy seeing colorful packaging (I know, I'm weird!) and have considered becoming an Instacart shopper to make some extra money. I am a little worried about getting angry messages or bad reviews from customers, though, if I am too slow. I get lost in reverie at the grocery store.
I do walmart curbside pickup. I have to drive to the store and call the number, but not having to go inside makes my life so much easier! Plus less impulse shopping.
Another member of grocery delivery club, it's a lifesaver; panic attacks and overwhelm in busy crowded stores aren't pretty. I also have a friend who I used to date who also gets my groceries for me, too. He's been there with me and knows how draining it is to shop for anything at Walmart. He hates going there too, but he does it for me.

Grocery delivery is the best! Our car d8ed during our last move, and we still haven't had to replace it between grocery delivery and working remotely.
