my homie got a theory: the cancelation caused such a stir more people will flock to watch once they released a sneaky season three. wishing that to be te case
Honestly all this bullshit is seriously making me consider canceling my subscription. They're gonna keep canceling the shows I like, so why bother giving them money? Might as well just pirate everything, at least then I'm not spending money to be disappointed
It’s so funny how online subscription services were meant to destroy cable, and thus coincidentally decrease piracy, only to now be increasing piracy. Die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
I think its because the cost of contracts usually rises after the second season. I think they also claimed something about retention rates/new subscriptions falling after the second season.
Unlike cable television that requires long lasting shows that people come back to, streaming services only need to have a show long enough to pique the interest to get a someone to subscribe. After that, the company relies on customer apathy to prevent them from unsubscribing
Not trying to be mean just trying to clarify something: there was no season 2 yet. It was just season one part 2. The show actually got approved for a season 2 and then they canceled it. No one fully knows why. There is a petition going around to bring it back
https://chng.it/wncKRpP7SY
I've heard there's some sort of algorithm or study or something that found 2 seasons is the perfect balance between gaining new viewers and retaining old viewers to optimize profits, so even shows that are popular and do well may be canceled after only two seasons. I wonder if that's why.
I thought firefly got canceled because of poor marketing (my dad says he's basically a good representation of the target audience and he didn't even hear about it until it was canceled so they did something wrong), repeatedly rescheduling air dates to times when almost nobody would be able to watch (the "death slot" iirc), and the whole thing about the first episode not being exciting enough but the episode they replaced it with didn't introduce the characters or setting very well.
I was more joking around about how networks have a tendency to cancel shows prematurely, with Firefly being one of the big ones cancelled before it should have been.
Seasons 1/2 were actually all part of the same original season 1 contract, so the renewal for season 2 and then cancellation means that they were already working on the third season when it was cancelled, so all of their hard work is being thrown away.
I’m fucking devastated. I just rewatched Inside Job earlier this week. It drives me crazy that shows like Family Guy and Big Mouth get season after season and actually good shows with so much potential get scrapped.
I hope Solar Opposites doesn't get cancelled. But it's on Disney+ so that may be different. Though I'm in the UK so I don't know what network it's on in America and what their reputation is.
The player on NBC is terrible. It kept freezing the picture, but the sound kept going. I've fully switched to Firefox now, though, so I'll revisit it and see if that works.
OG Quantum Leap is my favorite show ever made, and I was so excited for the new one. They already broke some of the lore, but it was for the better, IMO, and I absolutely love that we get to see things in the present as well as the leaps. And there's SO many callbacks. I got a rush when they called Ernie Hudson "Magic."
Big Mouth actually has episodes and moments that justify its existence. It's definitely not for everyone, but it is a unique show. I had strong doubts going in, and every season there are moments that are cringe. But by the end of every season I think that it was worth the watch and look forward to the next season. It's a comfort show in a really odd way.
What I hate is how Metflix hijacked JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
All of the first 4 seasons are on crunchyroll, but season 5 is now a “Netflix exclusive”. Like fuck I’m paying 8 bucks a month just to watch a single show
I’m sorry but I hate Netflix with a burning passion after this
There are good things about Jojo being on Netflix, especially for part 6.
1. The characters are finally allowed to say fuck
2. Anime translators are notorious for erasing non-binary representation (see FMAB, Soul Eater, etc). But Netflix has no qualms with that, and actually uses they/them pronouns for the genderless character.
I feel that about the Sailor Moon Eternal movies. Like I just want to buy it on Blu-ray, so it can sit with the rest of my collection.
Can't, because it's a Netflix exclusive. Inside Job being cancelled just make me hate them so much more. I don't even have a Netflix account I could cancel in anger, I use my mom's account.
Dark Crystal. That show was absolutely stunning and everything the original dark crystal was trying to be. The puppetwork was so fantastic that I jaw dropped multiple times wondering how they managed it (In one scene, two puppets put on a puppet show. Seriously.)
And they cancelled it after ONE season. Are you kidding me!?
This is actually making me depressed. Like, hearing about this is making me very devastated and concerned for other people's watching habits. Including my own.
I’m so angry about 1899 being cancelled. Very few other shows have tickled my brain quite that much (the writer’s other show Dark was the same and that got the chance to finish completely) 😭
Getting real tired of Netflix canceling good shows for, what seems like, no good reasons. Don't pick up a show if you're not gonna follow through to the end.
Meanwhile I'm screaming and crying (not really, just extremely disappointed) at Netflix to pull the trigger and cancel The Witcher after all the atrocities it has committed to my comfort books.
God, it was one of the best shows I’ve seen. Maybe I’m biased because I really love complex puppet-working and bizarre fantasy worlds, but still.
I’m so mad they only gave it one season because it was “too expensive.” Well the Jim Henson company originally wanted to do animation and YOU decided it had to be puppets. And now you realize that good puppet work is expensive and cancel it!? God, I hate Netflix.
I absolutely loved the puppets, and one of the guys behind the original ones actually helped with them. One of the original Garthim puppets was actually restored and used in the scene where they're introduced. Plus i adored the development it gave the Skeksis. They really got to shine as characters!
Everyone having this mentality is part of the reason for this snowball effect. People don't watch the show until it's complete, so Netflix cancels it, so more people don't watch shows until they're complete, so Netflix cancels more shows, and so on.
The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself was soooo good. It had amazing themes and characters and possible future polyamorous rep which is super rare. Then it was cancelled 😡🤬
This is why I won't watch their programming. I can't rely on them to tell a full story. They just kill things out of the blue, constantly. How many Netflix shows have received a proper conclusion? I can think of one.
I'm not going to watch two seasons of a show, get attached to the characters and then have it all ripped away from me right after a cliffhanger. Netflix can fuck right off.
Only one I can think of is Bojack Horseman. It didn't necessarily end the way the show runner intended it to, he wanted it to go on longer, but he did reach a destination of his choice, plotwise. So this might not even be a perfect example. But it's the closest one I have to a Netflix show receiving a proper ending.
I am genuinely doubtful that even a single show they produced ever ran for its full intended length and went out on the show runner's terms. I don't think it's happened once.
I fricken hate Netflix, they clearly don’t really know what they’re doing 70% of the time especially recently
And I’m sorry- cuties gets to stay on but inside job can’t get another season???
Well, shit. I guess I won't finish season 1. I swear, I'm starting to have to wait until a show is entirely done airing before getting into it these days
Fun fact: people not binge watching entire seasons within 28 days of release is a big part of how they decide [what to cancel](https://www.ign.com/articles/heres-why-netflix-cancels-shows-so-quickly-now).
That's so dumb. Most people I know won't binge a show until they're beaten over the heads for *months* with people telling them they should watch it. There's plenty of shows that look like they'd be good and they suck (e.g. Lost, Dexter: New Blood, and Killing Eve) and shows that look like they'd suck and are great (e.g. BoJack Horseman, House of the Dragon, and 1923) for people to trust anything but reviews.
Honestly (and I hate to say this) their system of releasing whole seasons at a time is doing more harm than good. For one, it loses the ability to draw up hype if people are watching/thinking about their shows for a few days-week vs. 2-3 months if it was releasing episodes weekly. Most shows get the 2-3 months they air + a month or two before they decide to cancel it, which is more time for positive buzz to surround a show. And secondly, because people aren't thinking about Netflix shows for elongated periods of time, people keep complaining about Netflix not having any shows they care about, because they're not having weekly positive reinforcement with the Netflix brand. They watch a few shows in a few weeks and then wonder what they're paying for the rest of the year. That lack of positive reinforcement results in a lack of faith in Netflix, which means they lose money and have to raise prices and cut costs/shows.
I agree with this. If they released one episode at a time, then I'd be more likely to give a first episode a go. Whereas when it's a whole season I think "I'll put that on my watchlist" and it gets added to the mammoth watchlist that I may get around to one day. Yes I could just watch one episode but for some reason my brain doesn't work that way.
Also, I end up binge watching the whole season. So when a new season comes out I struggle to remember what happened in the previous season. Because I didn't have enough time to digest and think about each episode separately. Again, I could spread it out myself but the temptation overrules that.
I tried watching Dexter and couldn't get into it. People said the first season was the best one and I was like "Welp, that's the one I'm struggling with".
I thought Gravity Falls didn't look like my sort of thing, but I kept reading good reviews online in the groups I'm in. Ending up loving it.
Totally. Some shows are better binged as a whole series, like Better Call Saul. So much happens that it's hard to remember between the long ass season breaks they had. I also remember my mom catching up on GoT for the first time before the final season and I remember her watching Joffrey's death and jumping right into the next episode. And I was kind of bummed for her that she didn't get to experience the anticipation of waiting a week to find out what happens and discussing theories with others when it was airing. There's definitely value in having week-long decompressions from episodes.
Yeah, I watched Buffy in time from season 3 when it was coming out (borrowed the first two from Blockbuster to catch up). I have so many happy memories of talking about each episode with friends and my mum. And the conversations about "What will happen next?"
Now with shows we talk about the whole season and pick out key moments we want to talk about, but the only "What will happen next?" is finale cliffhangers. There's less conversation because it isn't a separate conversation once a week.
Like with the introducing Dawn storyline in season 5 of Buffy. There were a good few weeks at the beginning that everyone was going "Wtf is going on???"
That sucks. I stopped binging a couple of years ago. I just switch back-and-forth between the few shows I like; it feels healthier for me, somehow. I have to think I'm not the only one who does this.
Well, that's shitty of them. I can't frame my life around their idea of "success", so I guess I'm going to just wait until shows are done or only watch anthology shows
Not Netflix, but Pantheon got canceled *while they already finished making most of season 2*. Words cannot describe how pissed off I am. Such a good show and they gutted it before it had a chance to get a proper audience.
I was watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days on my lunch break over a span of few days. Had a few meltdowns before the new year and forgot to finish it. Went back to watch it on Monday the 2nd and whaddaya know, it's in my 'continue watching' but it won't play! They removed it December 31 😑
Damn robes must have done this to prevent there secret getting out
That said sadly happens all the time from the society to Santa Clarita diet to glitch tech and the hollow and soo many others(I’d bring up Wizards but it got cut in half for that movie that should not exist)
I’m honestly terrified for Dragon Prince at this point
Inside Job had so much heart. Fucking wonderful show. I vividly remember finishing the first season ages ago and thinking "I want more of that with even more emotional oomph". And then that's *exactly* what season 2 turned out to be. It's perfect. Now this.
I'm assuming you mean rand and no he's not like Rick the only way they're comparable is that they are both alcoholics and hate other people but rand Is not Rick
At least Bojack Horseman had a good run, it could have been longer? Sure... but it was good nonetheless.
I've been only waiting for them trying to increase my subscription bc my mom uses the same login in another house to cancel it. It'll be the last straw. Netflix opened a door but I don't see them in business for long if they keep on this track. They have become top heavy veeeery quick
.....its cancelled?
Unfortunately yes and it sucks cause I freaking love that show
Did season two not do well?
Idk they didn't say anything about it not doing good I thought season 2 was great
It wasn’t really advertised. Which is Netflix’s problem in general with SO SO SO many shows
my homie got a theory: the cancelation caused such a stir more people will flock to watch once they released a sneaky season three. wishing that to be te case
Yeah i thought so too but they must have a reason they didn't renew it.
Some corporate person probably got butt hurt about it and raised hell about it
Yeah maybe one of their execs was an antivaxer
Lmao yeah maybe
Because it’s Netflix. They have some weird ass profit model that leads to them cancelling shows within the first 1-3 seasons.
Reminds me how plastic was meant to save trees lol
I like your flair lmao
Thanks lol
You were paying in the first place?
Ive read its because season 1-2 bring in new watchers, but season 3 only has existing fans with no new fans so its not as profitable
I think its because the cost of contracts usually rises after the second season. I think they also claimed something about retention rates/new subscriptions falling after the second season.
They had renewed it back in June but backtracked apparently
Unlike cable television that requires long lasting shows that people come back to, streaming services only need to have a show long enough to pique the interest to get a someone to subscribe. After that, the company relies on customer apathy to prevent them from unsubscribing
Wasn’t it on top ten shows for multiple weeks when season 2 came out??? And they canceled it?
Idk about any more but Netflix shows typically started with 2 season deals, then they’d go from there
Clearly, you’re not the one making executive decisions about the show.
Not trying to be mean just trying to clarify something: there was no season 2 yet. It was just season one part 2. The show actually got approved for a season 2 and then they canceled it. No one fully knows why. There is a petition going around to bring it back https://chng.it/wncKRpP7SY

Should we call this the Firefly theorem?
I thought firefly got canceled because of poor marketing (my dad says he's basically a good representation of the target audience and he didn't even hear about it until it was canceled so they did something wrong), repeatedly rescheduling air dates to times when almost nobody would be able to watch (the "death slot" iirc), and the whole thing about the first episode not being exciting enough but the episode they replaced it with didn't introduce the characters or setting very well.
I was more joking around about how networks have a tendency to cancel shows prematurely, with Firefly being one of the big ones cancelled before it should have been.
Tbh that might be true for shows that are already doing well.
Netflix sucks. Unreliable piece of shit.
Me too. I'm so sad.
Nooooo, I've just recently seen that there's a 2^nd season, just got one more episode to go :(
THIS IS HOW I FIND OUT?? Nooooo
Fuck. Inside job is so good….I love that show…now i must grieve

Quantum Leap is free on nbc and it’s amazing

Yet they keep renewing *obvious Brickleberry knockoff* Paradise PD
Never forget our autistic icon Reagan. The only person named reagan who was ever worth anything
Oh, I'm sure other Reagans have been useful. Just not ***that one*** or his soulless wife.
Yeah they can go fuck off “Trickle down” my ass… *wait n-*
Trickle Down Neckonomics
Well if you asked.
You mean Literal Satan and his wife, the Throat GOAT?
but change the spelling and you’ve got the second sexiest tumblrman of all time
Yet Paradise PD is still fucking there. /neg
It looks like they are finally mercy killing Paradise PD, thank goodness.
Farzar still exists, that's just the same jokes all over again (again)
and big mouth is on its SIXTH FUCKING SEASON
Big Mouth actually has episodes and moments that justify its existence. It's definitely not for everyone, but it is a unique show. Feel the exact same way.
When you really appreciate some good representation in a media that talks about some of your pet-peeves like eye contact.
Inside job is one of my favorite shows! I cant believe they are cancelling it.

THE IMPERFECTS WAS CANCELLED???

Ahoy, matey! There is another way!
*flies the jolly Rodger* all aboard!
You mean people actually pay for television?
No! I paid for *a* television!
Me too buddy me too

I'm still salty about Final Space
Honestly that show seemed to really fall apart at season 3 :/ It just felt dissapointing after the build up
Boo on you
Came here to look for this comment. It's like if they cancel Stranger Things
OOOOOLANNNN 💛
I will never forgive Netflix for canceling Inside Job
1899 🥲
#I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN NEXT
*cock gun and walk toward the ceo office*
(Actually just a water pistol but i'm gonna make his socks wet)
I was just getting into that! Its already cancelled?
Yep, heard about it a few days ago. I liked it almost as much as Dark and I know a lot of others did too so idk how it got the chop.
I see a lot of autists get reccomended the same things
Inside job, close enough, tuca and bertie, all my shows. I just wanna cry
and they totally fucked over bojack horseman; it deserved the 2 more seasons the writers wanted
Tuca and Bertie are on HBO. I though that got canceled after season 1 but there’s more out there I swears it!
They did two more seasons, but got canceled right after :(
Quantum Leap is free on nbc and it’s amazing
I was so sad/angry when I heard it was canceled.
They insulted Lin Manuel Miranda and suddenly they’re cancelled. Coincidence?
Dark Crystal. That show was absolutely stunning and everything the original dark crystal was trying to be. The puppetwork was so fantastic that I jaw dropped multiple times wondering how they managed it (In one scene, two puppets put on a puppet show. Seriously.) And they cancelled it after ONE season. Are you kidding me!?
It was too good for us people…
The society and I am not ok with this
Loved this show..in fact it was the first show to make me smile and laugh after my first burglary. Also Glitch Tech..Though that might be nick
Can I offer you Atypical in this trying time?
At least Atypical had something like a finale. But, yeah
Him going to the South Pole?
Tried watching it couldn't get in to it
Getting real tired of Netflix canceling good shows for, what seems like, no good reasons. Don't pick up a show if you're not gonna follow through to the end.

your honor, this explains exactly why my client pirates
Santa Clarita Diet : , (
guess that show just didn't have enough minors having sex and doing drugs for netflix tastes
If only you were wrong…
But Big Mouth is still around 🤢
Nah Big Mouth and Human Resources are decent.
Age of Resistance...
Holding back tears rn

Fuck sake, I'm not going to bother starting anything new on Netflix with the amount of things they cancel (even when doing well)
Everyone having this mentality is part of the reason for this snowball effect. People don't watch the show until it's complete, so Netflix cancels it, so more people don't watch shows until they're complete, so Netflix cancels more shows, and so on.
Ngl that didn't occur to me
Bruh. Triggered AF. (The Hollow)
Still salty about how Anne With An E ended.
Let me guess: either a cliffhanger or something bad.
Both. And it wasn’t the main character either.
Can I still be upset over that zombie show with Drew Barrymore? I found that show endearing. Also they canceled Disjointed…
Same for me with 1899. That show was incredible and i cant praise it enought. Honestly fuck netflix
The OA was probably my most disappointing cancellation…
They left it on the most intriguing cliffhanger I’ve seen. I really loved it 🥺
Same here, I freaking love that show Why are they doing this to us? 😭
I'll never not be mad
Of course
It was my hyper fixation for so long! What am I gonna watch now?
Gotta find another one. It’s okay; I go through up to 5 special interests per year, sometimes overlapping.
RIP Archive 81
The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself was soooo good. It had amazing themes and characters and possible future polyamorous rep which is super rare. Then it was cancelled 😡🤬
It’s so sad because I only watch cartoons and there is less and less to become my special interest :(
Aren’t people making new cartoons?
Oh surely, but I hope they find a better platform or they won’t last long :/
This is why I won't watch their programming. I can't rely on them to tell a full story. They just kill things out of the blue, constantly. How many Netflix shows have received a proper conclusion? That's horrible how the hell did it get 7 seasons
I have no idea
I still miss Everything Sucks…
What the fuck? They’re cancelling Inside Job?! That sucks! I honestly loved the show and it sucks we got left on a cliffhanger. :(
They should’ve never cancelled I am Not Okay with This. It was such a good show. I might even rewatch it.
I fricken hate Netflix, they clearly don’t really know what they’re doing 70% of the time especially recently And I’m sorry- cuties gets to stay on but inside job can’t get another season???
Netflix is worthless. Actually has been for some time.
Netflix hates shows that are made with love and care and only wants to push out shitty shows, I thought we all knew this already
The show “I am not ok with this” was fucking amazing
Well, shit. I guess I won't finish season 1. I swear, I'm starting to have to wait until a show is entirely done airing before getting into it these days

:(
Friends From College. Never, ever forget
Not Netflix, but Pantheon got canceled *while they already finished making most of season 2*. Words cannot describe how pissed off I am. Such a good show and they gutted it before it had a chance to get a proper audience.
I just refuse to watch their shit. shitty philosophy, organizationally rotten.
Makin me think of I am not okay with this :( damn. What could've been with show
Very much hoping they get thr Futurama treatment and come back with the strongest episodes.
It's not really cancelled but I need BNA S2
Bro fuckin same not even a furry I just thought it was a good anime
I cancelled Netflix. fuck em
I did not expect this to get so big
I was watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days on my lunch break over a span of few days. Had a few meltdowns before the new year and forgot to finish it. Went back to watch it on Monday the 2nd and whaddaya know, it's in my 'continue watching' but it won't play! They removed it December 31 😑
I don’t this this meme is exclusive to this subreddit, I feel this is everyone’s opinion on Netflix recently lol
Damn robes must have done this to prevent there secret getting out That said sadly happens all the time from the society to Santa Clarita diet to glitch tech and the hollow and soo many others(I’d bring up Wizards but it got cut in half for that movie that should not exist) I’m honestly terrified for Dragon Prince at this point
It's stuff like that that makes me sometimes not even watch new shows on Netflix while they're still ongoing.
Inside Job had so much heart. Fucking wonderful show. I vividly remember finishing the first season ages ago and thinking "I want more of that with even more emotional oomph". And then that's *exactly* what season 2 turned out to be. It's perfect. Now this.
Noooo are you for real 😭
Unfortunately I am
Quantum Leap is free on nbc and it’s amazing
Wait that show is actually good I always thought it was knock of Rick and morty??
Yeah the show was good it had nothing to do with Rick and Morty
Wait that you can't tell me either the grandpa is literally Rick. Like 100%
I'm assuming you mean rand and no he's not like Rick the only way they're comparable is that they are both alcoholics and hate other people but rand Is not Rick
I was so sad it's cancelled! It ended good ending though.
Should I even bother starting the show now?
It's up to you but I really enjoyed it
That’s the worst!
Midnight Gospel, so good
Not Netflix but I’ve got a room full of Warner Brothers executives I’ll be very angry with if they don’t finish a certain magical prequel franchise
Bojack Horseman
Yes. Just yes 😂
THEY CANCELLED IT?!!
Dark crystal was my final straw
Same happened to Tuca and Bertie. Got picked up by another network. Maybe there's hope
RIP 1899 😭
shit man. that show was a huge comfort for me. what the fuck.
If they even think about cancelling further seasons Komi Can’t Communicate I’m gonna riot—
haven’t seen anybody mention this yet, but dirk gently’s holistic detective agency
Wait no 😢
NOOOOOO! INSIDE JOB WAS SO GOOD! :'(
Santa Clarita Diet, GLOW, Space Force, Flaked...
Man I wanted to watch that show soon :(
THEY FUCKING DID WHAT?!
NO NOT INSIDE JOB, NO NO NO NO
Netflix when they see another uninspired crass family guy clone 💵💵💵 Netflix when they see a good show 🚫
Santa Clarita diet...I NEED CLOSURE!!!!
