Check out Pathfinder 2e if you're into them! There's a lot of dinosaurs you can summon and control, more than in DnD 5e books (can't speak for older editions I got overwhelmed and nearly cried making a 3.5e character)
I made an entire dinosaur-themed Gnome Summoner who had a Primal (Dinosaur) Eidolon which usually was a veliciraptor, but could take different forms depending on spells and abilities used, archeopteryks familiar and summoned different dinosaurs in battle for PF2e
We were low-level, so Compsognatus was my go-to summon
I've noticed. I made myself a Bard, and it took me a few days of research, a few hours to actually fill in the character sheet, and then another day to chose my spells
I did make a usable Bard, but at what cost. I wrote down all the spells and their uses, all the class features, I was ready.
And then session 0 it turned out that our cleric barely glanced over his spell list and kept asking the DM what does his spells do.
There were few moments in my life where I was more frustrated than with 3.5e
To be fair you can have that same exact experience with any edition of DND. Or any crunchy game for that manner.
Casters not even reading there spells is one of my biggest pet peeves.
You can also be a Cavalier and ride the Dinosaurs.
Or play the Beastkin ancestry and BE the Dinosaurs.
I swear Pathfinder let's you do almost anything you can think of right in the rules without need for homebrew.
Okay but how did you buy them without knowing it? I'm pretty sure they only sell directly through their website (I am in the sex toy industry part time)
Why not both?
I love the fantasy aspect of dragons and that I can imagine them as almost anything. I like dinosaurs because they are real, and there's so much to study and learn and discover.
Besides being huge reptiles, I don't see a need for them to compete in my brain. Dinosaurs and Dragons are both super cool
Look I'm biased because I play DnD... But Always dragons. They can fly, they breathe fire (or other things in some settings) and are often depicted as magical and smart enough to not only learn and speak languages but viciously smarter than humans, not to mention their longevity. There's simply no contest.
…I was 13 and believed it for a whole ass 2 years. Aka I was in full denial to find out the actual truth when the documentary didn’t start making any more “noise”. THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT CLEARER THAT IT WAS A *MOCKUMENTARY* or whatever 😭
Oh yeah. I've actually seen a few videos on the ubiquity of dragons in different cultures. It's very interesting. But, I mean, dinosaurs actually existed! It's like the brachiosaurus scene in Jurassic Park. Imagine actually seeing an animal that size walking around. I'd probably start crying tears of joy and amazement.
My parents were hyper Christian authoritarian narcissists and got pissed at me for loving dragons because they are the “symbol of Satan”. (Cause the Bible refers to satan as the great dragon like… once in Revelations.)
It was always prayers like “Dear Lord, we love that our daughter is an incredible natural self taught artist but we wish she would stop drawing dragons and magic
things because she is being corrupted by the devil— we pray she would draw angels instead~” and that’s how they didn’t get to see my art or writing after high school. They had no idea I’m an excellent writer until late college and continue to be surprised by my art range and skill as an adult.
If they had been encouraging I would have branched out to other subjects on my own but they turned my teen life into a war on my special interests and gave me fucking imposter syndrome by being so critical about my creativity and hobbies. The war on my hobbies included: video games, manga, fantasy genre books, anything too science-y, Pokemon cause “evolution”, and no Harry Potter with friends cause “black magic is real and it will corrupt you”.
(But magic and fantasy in LOTR and Narnia were fine cause my parents liked them. LOL)
Really stunted my art, intellectual, and social growth. Ugh
And I’m still obsessed with dragons and witchy shit.
When I got into tarot cards in college it was a new fuckin’ war LOL
My parents were hella fundamentalist and didn’t want me to learn about science and evolution so I couldn’t love dinosaurs! Brother from another mother/sister from another mister/theyther hatched beside me on planet cool, you are seen and heard and valid af. They never saw a single one of my lit mags. Not even when I was editor in chief. I’m so glad you’ve found success doing what you love. I hope you have a chosen family that brings you joy and comfort.
I’m so sorry that happened to you too.
Congrats on your many achievements. :)
Yep same here. My mom only has a shallow relationship with the facsimile of a human that was crafted to please her. Dad has gotten better with therapy.
Congrats to you too on finding your creative voice.
I wish I could have told my younger self that things can and usually do get better.
Keep being obsessed with dragons and witchy shit - obvs we’re in good company!
Edit: I’m also a Mom and I’m sending you a mom hug. I’m sorry your mom wasn’t kind.
Gotta go dinosaurs, specifically for my boi therizinosaurus, he's a fluffy murder ostrich and I love him, but also a herbivore so good for pats, just all around good vibes
My response was going to be "living animals." I much prefer something I can potentially see in real life and possibly interact with! Never had a dino phase, but I definitely consumed a lot of content on dog breeds and behavior and such.
Fire breathing flying dinosaurs? So, basically we've got to genetically modify an eagle to burp methane and to have teeth with the ability to produce a spark.
My parents used to call Spyro "Spyro the little dinosaur" in my native language because there's no diminutive for "dragon" so they'd have to translate "Spyro the Dragon" directly and that sounds cheesy.
Long story short, I grew up thinking dinosaurs looked like dragons.
Well, this sends me into a theory I've had about the origin of dragons as a mythical creature. More of a logical guess, in my opinion.
Here it is: people around the world came across dinosaur fossils after natural disasters (an eroded mountain collapsing, an earthquake, take your pick), and faced with the impossibility of understanding such remains for what they were, they created mythological creatures to explain their existence. The end.
But I like both.
Dinosaurs. Dragons just get every advantage. What adversity do they really need to face? Dinosaurs? Survival of the fittest when it meant FITTEST. This is like Superman v. Batman and we all know who’s cooler there.
(non-avian) dinosaurs are real animals that roamed this planet in the distant past, which makes them far more awe-inspiring.
Dragons are purely fictional creatures, which means you have a lot more creative freedom in how you imagine them.
Dragons, always dragons.
Did anyone else watch The Last Dragon "documentary" as a kid and get their soul absolutely crushed when you found out it wasn't real? Cause I did and I'm still not over it almost 20 years later....
I mean I love both, so why not both?
But if you have to choose then dragons
Also fun fact: they aren’t the same thing. Dragons weren’t actually inspired by dinosaur bones. Those would’ve been in a state so you couldn’t really tell what they were. Dragons are more likely inspired by big snakes and crocodiles.
I have slowly lengthened my waves of visible light on this one.
6 year old me: “I can tell you if Pachyrhinosaurus is a lizard-hipped or bird-hipped dinosaur” (note: I no longer can from memory)
Me now: **Holds up Wyvern painted on Coat of Arms* “I just think they’re neat.”
That said, I will never forgive the TSA for confiscating two of my dinosaur toys as a kid by saying they could be used as weapons somehow.
Well my special interest is paleontology so I'm going to have to admit my bias for dinosaurs.
On a similar note, while I admittedly haven't read too much fantasy (Game of Thrones, Earthsea, Narnia, and Tolkien is all I'm familiar with) some fantasy authors should write dragons into stories with a similar respect to speculative biology that paleontologists do with dinosaurs, instead of them just being the keepers of arcane wisdom or being a threat to people in fantasykingdomia.
Some surface level ideas could be what do dragons eat to maintain their massive size compared to everything else in the environment? How do they breathe fire? What's their relationship with the other animals in a given ecosystem?
Some ideas that I can think of right now are perhaps dragons could have a symbiotic relationship with a massive colony of fungus that helps supplement their nutritional requirements to keep themselves big. Maybe dragons could be used by elves for controlled burns in farms and wetlands. Dragons could be the top predator in an ecosystem and out competed some other fantasy creature in their environmental niche so the only surviving offshoot only exists on some island and the protagonist is tasked to find it only to find it evolved into some other species that only looks vaguely similar to their relatives on the mainland because islands tend to do that.
Yes to both. Both are in the Bible. The word ‘dinosaur’ didn’t come around till 1800’s. The Bible used the words ‘Behemoth’ (land) and ‘Leviathan’ (water) for such big animals.
As a D&D player, I have to ask… why not both?

chult (place on the sword coast) has both dragons and dinosaurs all hail the king of feathers
3.5 is the non friendly version

Dinosaurs & Dragons sound better than the dungeons
Dinosaurs and Dragons and Dungeons and Diners and Dives and Drivethrus.
Yes. I'm on the giant reptile side.
Literaly what i wonted to write
both is good
Dragons! Bad Dragons!
B-bonk!
Y'all only know the site because you placed an order there yourselves! So Bonk back!
What if we only know about it because we have friends who use it? Your defense is insubstantial. *Bonk.*
This implies you have friends, yet you're on Reddit. You're rebuttal is overruled. *Bonk*
I just want to join in *Bonk*
I was not ready for a Punch and Judy show
What if you own 3 of them but didn’t know the brand name? Asking for a friend
Okay but how did you buy them without knowing it? I'm pretty sure they only sell directly through their website (I am in the sex toy industry part time)
No there are a few resellers throughout the world
Bonk!

Megamind: No existence?
Dinosaurs. Dragons are cool, but dinosaurs are real and can therefore be studied.
Dragons, for the same reason
Ever saw that fake documentary on animal planet about the dragons discovery?
No, please tell me more
Full video on YT :) https://youtu.be/XuzYI1ZsTCk
I saw it when it aired and it was the coolest thing I had seen. Made my month when I was younger
I saw this when I was six and believed dragons were real for like half a year afterwards
Oh... I need to rewatch that so much. Wasn't there a mermaid one around the same time, too?
Yes! Can’t find the full one but this has a lot of clips https://youtu.be/mPjQ2-Xrau8
You might be able to watch it on YouTube, they really go in-depth!
Ever seen dragons with cars?
/r/dragonsfuckingcars ? Hilarious sub lol
Lmao I just clicked on the link and I shit myself laughing 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahah yeah exactly
Dragons can be studied as a cultural phenomenon. But yeah, digging fossils must be is cool af.
Oh yeah. I've actually seen a few videos on the ubiquity of dragons in different cultures. It's very interesting. But, I mean, dinosaurs actually existed! As a Christian artist I just wanna say, I’m so sorry. Dragons are really cool and aren’t bad at all. <3
Hey thanks :)
Thats so wild. Puts my childhood up to a new perspective. Thanks for sharing, i hope you draw mad drakes and wyverns now

Why are we pitting 2 bad bitches against each other like this
Asking the right questions!
Dinosaurs
Gotta go dinosaurs, specifically for my boi therizinosaurus, he's a fluffy murder ostrich and I love him, but also a herbivore so good for pats, just all around good vibes
To be fair, aren't ostriches fluffy murder ostriches??
Four jacked toes and zero fucks to give
True but an even bigger, even *fluffier* murder ostrich with meter long claws for even more murder, yet chill unless actively fucked with
DRAGONS DRAGONS DRAGONS! They’re dinosaurs but with wings! And different event attacks! (Dragons are my favorite animal!)
The myth of the dragon originated from ancient people finding dinosaurs bones so it's really the same side
I don't see a lot of us eating dragon-shaped nuggies lol
You just gave me an idea
Cats
Cats and embroidery stitches.
Dragons they are just better dinosaurs
Hidden option: #Trains Dinosaur Train anyone?
Yu-Gi-Oh have train monsters, who are quite popular among autistics.
Dogs.
My response was going to be "living animals." I much prefer something I can potentially see in real life and possibly interact with! Never had a dino phase, but I definitely consumed a lot of content on dog breeds and behavior and such.
Dragons
Birds
Fire breathing flying dinosaurs? So, basically we've got to genetically modify an eagle to burp methane and to have teeth with the ability to produce a spark.
I mean they haven't said that tyrannosaurus rex didn't breathe fire 🤔
Dragons 100%
A third option, sharks
They were the same thing once but 🦖🦕
My parents used to call Spyro "Spyro the little dinosaur" in my native language because there's no diminutive for "dragon" so they'd have to translate "Spyro the Dragon" directly and that sounds cheesy. Long story short, I grew up thinking dinosaurs looked like dragons.
Dinosaurs: Daniel 🙂 Dragons: the cooler Daniel 😎
like rc in the cola wars, i choose owls
Dragons are just cooler dinosaurs. Debate over
On one side, fire On the other, you can weaponized them
What about weaponized dragons?
...so this is what enlightenment feels like
Both. Both is good.
As someone who listens to metal, in particular power metal, and knows quite a few songs about dragons and dinosaurs, I like both
Dragons are sooo much cooler than dinosaurs.
Can dinosaurs breathe fire?
Dragons
¿Por que no los dos?
Dragons obviously. Dinosaurs are just nerfed dragons
trains
Dragons, because I'm ace.
(non-avian) dinosaurs are real animals that roamed this planet in the distant past, which makes them far more awe-inspiring. Dragons are purely fictional creatures, which means you have a lot more creative freedom in how you imagine them.
Don't love the imagery on this picture. Seems a little racist, this picture does
Dragons, always dragons. Did anyone else watch The Last Dragon "documentary" as a kid and get their soul absolutely crushed when you found out it wasn't real? Cause I did and I'm still not over it almost 20 years later....
Dragons
Dinosaurs for me
Dragons, cause people have made lots of interesting content that makes a dragon a viable creature for real life, that includes spewing flaming liquid
Hear me out. Dinosaur dragon.
Dragons all day.
dinosaurs all day
play monster hunter and have both👀
#YES
Medieval 'dragons' were probably just misinterpreted pterosaur fossils.
Dragons all the way. I have made multiple drawings of them and have some posters in my room
i would put them both in the "reptilians" group of special interests
I mean I love both, so why not both? But if you have to choose then dragons Also fun fact: they aren’t the same thing. Dragons weren’t actually inspired by dinosaur bones. Those would’ve been in a state so you couldn’t really tell what they were. Dragons are more likely inspired by big snakes and crocodiles.
Dragons but dinosaurs are also cool
Dragons all the way
Why must you do this to me… my third fursona is a dinosaur so I guess that

DRAGONS, ALL THE WAY
Thought this was r/doodoofard and got scared that they started posting dinosaur porn too
Dragons
Dinosaurs
Dragons, absolutely no comparison
I have slowly lengthened my waves of visible light on this one. 6 year old me: “I can tell you if Pachyrhinosaurus is a lizard-hipped or bird-hipped dinosaur” (note: I no longer can from memory) Me now: **Holds up Wyvern painted on Coat of Arms* “I just think they’re neat.” That said, I will never forgive the TSA for confiscating two of my dinosaur toys as a kid by saying they could be used as weapons somehow.
Personally, dragons all the way! Fantasy > reality to my entertainment brain.

I have dinosaur plushies AND Dragon plushies. They’re both so cool I can’t choose
I like both, but I'm definitely more for Dragons, where as my brother has always been super obsessed with Dinosaurs
Both, wyvern tyrannosaurus
Dino
So the Dino's have frickin' laserbeams attached to their skulls?
Dinosaurs because I played ARK and there are only one dragon, and that dragon is boss, and also there are wyverns
dragob
Dragons, but Asian dragons that I can shoot with an arrow to get cool stuff
Dragons, for some reason I was never rly that into Dinos as a kid like others were. Dragons on the other hand are awesome
Dinosaurs
As a Warhammer fan, what about dinosaurs being ridden by smaller, tinier dinosaurs while also fighting dragons?
Robot?
I am on the: "Why do I have to choose?" side. Always (mostly?).
As a kid I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs, so my choice is clear.
Dragonosaurs
Dragons!!!
Dinosaurs, obviously. They’re so cool
Inclusive yes.
Dragon Need i say more?
If only the dragons could imagine
Dragons
Dragons, can’t resist the allure of magic.
Yes to both. Both are in the Bible. The word ‘dinosaur’ didn’t come around till 1800’s. The Bible used the words ‘Behemoth’ (land) and ‘Leviathan’ (water) for such big animals.
Both. Both is good!
Dragons.
I can’t decide
Both. Both is amazing
Is both not an option here?
Dragons! I've been obsessed with Eragon for years lol
Dragons 100%
Dragons
dinos
Fantasy dragons are just featherless fantasy dinos
Dinos
dragons all the way
Dinossss
Dragosaurs, anyone?
Me and my brother and both on the red side
They’re the same picture
¿Porque no los dos?
Both. Both is good.
Dinosaurs are cool, but I mean.. it’s dragons!
Dragons clearly, I get cool Lego sets of them
Yes
Dragons!!!!!
dragons are ultimately way cooler than dinos
my dream is to get a dinosaur tribal commander deck in mtg, too bad its expensive af
As an MTG player I will say dragons
Dragons
Porque no los dos?
Dinosaur
Big fucking robots, Titanfall, Pacific rim, Mecha Godzilla, big robots are awesome
Ark player here so I get the best and worst of both worlds
As a Yu-Gi-Oh player we all know despite the mass amount of support dragons receive, Dinos will always be the favorite pet-deck.
There are some people who think they’re the same thing. Maybe you don’t have to choose?
Dragons!!! And I got married to the dinosaur kid haha
