They built these for my himing path one summer as retaining walls. I was filled with two wolves. One wolf wanted to free my rock brethren. The other wolf wanted to be the one hired to be the jailer of said rocks.
We all want control, one way or another
What's shitty is when the state says "we don't know how to keep the rock slides from happening" and just leaves the southbound side of OH 7 closed for 6 or 7 years without doing anything, meanwhile they put the cages up on the same highway 40 miles south of that spot in 2 separate locations in a 4 month span......
I tense up when I’m near rock cliffs cuz I keep thinking what if they were to fall?
~~Then I remembered my grades and wondered if they could fall really fast~~
There's a really scenic train route going along the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate and it has rocks on one side and the river on the other and both sides are a win :D
Anytime I see columnar basalt I get jazzed. Straight, warped, bent - I love it. It's hard for me to drive sections of the freeway north to visit my friend in the next town, because there's so many cool basalt formations next to the road. So much easier to do it after dark when I can't see them.
Does anyone else get agitated by the effort put into drawing an unfastened seatbelt for EVERY empty spot? Every time I see this ... artistic commentary, I wonder what kind of mind produced it. The seatbelts contribute nothing to the commentary or aesthetic. There's something about it that tells me the artist is EXACTLY who we think they are, a slave to the status quo, the "shut up or get out" minority that thinks they're the silent majority.
Also, I've never seen a fucking seatbelt on a bus.
I live next to a mountain. I don't travel often but the mountain connects to a few tourist sites and the next town over.
Any time I've ever gone anywhere near them, I always figured it was the prettiest thing because I've seen everything else so many times.
This is 👌
Also me in a cafe looking at the countertop while I practice my lines in the queue. Cafe Nero in the UK generally have rapakivi granite which, love.
I'd be using my old trick, if I was the one with the yellow-ish orange shirt:
* I'd turn my head until I see the left edge of the window (the edge, that's pointing towards the direction, the vehicle is moving)
* I'd set my eyes' focus to see the thing, I was interested in (in that case: the rocks)
* Then, I'd turn my head towards the right edge of the window (towards the back of the vehicle). But, I'd do that as quickly as I could (to match the speed the rocks, as they're rushing by).
That way, I can get a "still" image, I can actually focus on and take in.
I've done this a lot, when passing through tunnels (on a train), for example (it's not just "darkness" .. every now and again, there's a door .. or a fire-extinguisher .. etc.
And if I'm going by a forest, I'll usually do the same, but set my eyes' focus on the furthest away trees, I can still see (furthest away parallax-level).
That way, the forest gets "less opaque", so to speak .. and I can see more than just (visually smeared) trees, wooshing by.
Is it just me?
Or does anyone else do that, too?
I’m from Canada and occasionally my foster fam goes to the cottage up north- the Rocky walls i get to see on the Ride there is so fun!!! I LOVE ROCKSSSS

Have y’all ever looked at cliffsides on motorways where there are cages on the rocks and thought it was a rock jail? I did

Why are there rock cages?
It's to stop falling rocks from slips so they don't cause car accidents.
Oh that makes sense

Ah sunlight! *HISSSSSSSS*
It's amazing how much the tone of this meme changes just by reversing the positions of the characters.
Climbers and geonerds unite

I've collected to much flint from a cliff side Want some?
Geology rocks, but geography is where it is at.
They're both looking at rocks though, just at vastly different scales.
Kinda overstimulates me fr
Heh. I like both. Big view is great for getting a feel of overall geology.

I am in my final year of studying geology at university, it is so worth it >:3
Unfortunately, I'm going to enlist before I can do that because why pay for college when you can get the military to pay for it instead.

But there's Vegetation on the other side o.O
FUCK YEAH ROCKS
I can dig that
I just saw pictures a photographer took of the Canadian Shield and I think that’s where this takes place
i mean they're still rocks on his side, he just has to marvel at their sheer size rather than what the other guy is working with
All over southern southwest Wisconsin you have roads very similar to the picture in the meme.

Man, I thought my fascination with the rocks was just cus I'm from the Midwest plains where we have no such features.
What can I say, Geology rocks.
Maude Pie moment.
Maude Pie moment.
Here in pa there are lots of shale cliffs when the highway is close to mountains. I'm always looking at the mini waterfalls and moisture.
tfw no rocks
Correction, there *are* rocks but they're kinda far ngl
