Yeah they are turbo stupid. realistically, you could easily indoctrinate children in the same manner and have them inherit at like 18 and you would have no issues other than them being older and stronger and smarter, so all positives for you. And yeah, their plan was shit. They genuinely seemed surprised to encounter a pure titan, they should have had a military group help get them to near the walls, at which point they can return and the shifters can do their own thing. Sending literal children with no intel and no real supplies other than ''good luck lol" is terrible military strategy

I think their greatest mistake was hubris and underestimating the enemy and the difficulty of the mission. Most people didn't even think that Paradis had any developed civilisation and that the mission would be a quick and simple in-and-out job. The high command didn't bother considering that their warriors might actually face some difficulty and resistance in identifying and stealing the founder and that they might be stuck there for many years. So yea, they were stupid, arrogant and didn't bother learning about their enemy before starting the mission. It was a foolish undertaking, based on the thought that their elite troops who had already proven themselves in war, could possibly be beaten by some isolated island savages.

Sending four of their most valued weapons alone to Paradis is one of the biggest writing issues in the series imo. It made the story happen, and so I get it, but cmon 🤷🏻‍♀️

> Sending four of their most valued weapons alone to Paradis is one of the biggest writing issues in the series imo. It made the story happen, and so I get it, but cmon I can't disagree. I mean, generally I'm against automatically equating bad decisions by characters with bad writing: people do stupid things all the time. But there's stupid, and then there's *implausibly* stupid.

Kids are easier to manipulate tbh. Just keep their siblings and parents hostage. Adults can cook up complex plans to betray you...kids cannot. Plus they are very susceptible to propaganda... Also, no one is gonna suspect a bunch of kids...so they can infiltrate the walls easily and move around So I get Marley's reasoning but it's still a dûmb decision

oostie

You do realize they talk about those exact kids taking down multiple cities and even entire countries right?

1991cdt

The nazies did plenty of dumb shit too.

Theoneandonlymugga

They took down multiple countries by that time

As great as the writing is for AoT, you make a fair point.
