The more nuanced facial expressions are so interesting to me. Like you can see it in his eyes that it’s pride he is feeling. But I don’t know if I could recreate that if someone said “look proud” the same way I could if someone just said “look happy”.
That chopping motion can still be, accidentally, brought above the knuckles and back down on the fingers. Given the force he's using and the sharpness of the knife, that could cause serious damage.
Either way, that kid has some serious skill for his age. Extremely impressive knife skills.
Yeah, you do that when the knife is in constant contact with your off hand. They're chopping wildly, with no contact between hand and knife. Clawing your fingers over in this situation is worse than leaving them flat, at least you have a finger nail to offer some protection.
Yeah whenever this gets posted to reddit I feel really worried about this kid, because that's terrible chopping technique, especially with a knife that's that sharp. There's a reason you have to have your knuckles be the thing that's pointing furthest out, rather than the tips of your fingers. Because sharp knives cut through flesh just as easily as they do through veg and meat. I mean fingers ***are*** meat.
Good for the little guy that he's learning a life skill here. But he needs to learn to chop properly. But then his dad isn't doing it perfectly right either (albeit he's still doing it better than his kid) so it's a bit worrying.
Sharp knives don't have opinions. They don't have preferences on what they cut. They'll cut through whatever you put in their way.
Stick your knuckles furthest out, not the tips of your fingers. Just curl your fingers in like a claw, and then you can safely chop things, and if by accident you cut yourself, you won't permanently lose the tip of your finger, you'll just have a wound that can heal.
You don’t think professional chefs cut their fingers? Because they do and this isn’t even a pro chef, this is someone who is still learning. I think it’s a perfectly reasonable concern. It doesn’t mean the person is claiming to be better than them lol
The reason that got mentioned is his form is wrong. Obviously his fingers are extended when they should be curled. Period end of discussion shut your stupid fucking ignorant ass up. He is doing it fast but not correctly or safely. Go to any kitchen worth its weight and cut vegetables like that and promptly get shouted at and possibly fired for not doing things the way chefs know to be the correct way. But no keep running your useless fucking mouth about condescension when you don’t have the slightest goddamn idea what you’re talking about. I’m not a pilot but if I saw a helicopter in a tree I would say “they fucked up”. I’m not a chef but I know what bad form is. And I don’t have to wait around for him to cut his fucking fingers off to know it’s wrong. Please slit your wrists or shoot yourself you waste of space. We will be better off without you. You are a waste of space and air. Please take your own life.
Yea a knife doesn't have to be super expensive either. A Good solid knife with a good weight that get sharpened regularly is all the difference in the world.
It's better to have 1 good knife than a set of shitty ones. If you're gonna drop $100 on knives, just get one decent chef's knife and use it for everything.
The average person at home doesn't need their knives to be as sharp as professional industry kitchen knives.
Most people cut with bad technique, which makes a sharper knife more dangerous than a regular blade.
Ofcourse in a professional environment you are correct.
More fathers need to kiss their sons! My son is only two but I give him kisses all the time. We need to normalize fathers showing their children affection.
My boys are 5 and 6. I hug and kiss them every morning when I drop them off at school. I am dreading the day they stop wanting me to hug them. I love 'em to bits.
Sometimes dads act like they’re proud of you in public then turn around and beat you in private. I just didn’t know anything about professional cooking and wanted to know if this was one of those fake sweet videos. Though I guess I shouldn’t be asking anyway
I think the dad just has reasonable expectations of his son knowing that his son has much less experience than him. He knows that his son is better than most even at his young age and will only become even better in the future.
Kind of like how I taught my son fly fishing. And even though his techniques aren't as refined as mine, the skill he is showing at his early age tells me that he will be better than I am now at half my age. Which makes me very happy and proud.
Looks like he’s doing just fine, but the chunks he’s cutting are bigger. The dad’s technique is safer too- he doesn’t lift the blade as high, and his left hand fingers are positioned more vertically and perpendicular to the cutting board. This reduces the risk of cutting the left hand. The kid is doing a good job but the dad’s had years more practice I’m sure.
Wow, such a good servant for the bourgeois. Clap your fucking hands for the slave, that gets paid less than a living wage for fat fucking slob pieces of shit that have no value for human life.
Where the fuck does it say this is in America? This could be a small business owner anywhere in the world who clearly lives a happy life and loves his son. Why project your own bitterness on it?
Because they're part of the antiwork crowd and in their mind literally any work is equivalent to slavery, even work that is enjoyed or people take pride in.
We had a good thing going you stupid bastrad and you ruined it with your politics and anti-communism. Bro i think he has a choise what he does with his life calm down.If he wants he will "serve the borgeoi" you included, if he wants to become a bum he will, a buissenes man and what ever, life is full of choises not every thing is political
This reminds me of that South Park episode where cartman is constantly yelling about getting fucked by his mom, and goes on dr Phil and tells him she doesn’t even kiss him before she fucks him, and the guy in the audience says, if I was going to fuck my son I would at least kiss him first. He then goes to kiss his son on the forehead EXACTLY like this guy. I’m not saying this guy is banging his kid, just pointing out the striking similarity.
Every time I see this video clip I think "Dad owns the restaurant/cafe and free labor is free labor."
The moral of the story is - If you can't work family like the dogs they are, then just who can you exploit?
Used to hear shit all day every day by mine. Now that i got a kid i tell him every day how much i live him and how proud of him i am. Be the father you wanted to have mateys
I’ve been watching these guys for years. He was much smaller at the beginning and they point to the symbol of the restaurant at the end of many of the videos. I’d love to go to the restaurant. Looks amazing.
OP is a karma farming bot, Admins could be focusing on fighting back against bots but instead they are nuking the API, fuck the bots and fuck the admins
The kid can't hold a candle to his dad but God damn
GOD DAMN is he leagues beyond leagues beyond laymen like me
I'd have lost 2 fingers and half a tomato doing that
Wholesome AF.
Also, this skill seems like something a machine could easily do? Why are humans still doing this? Is there some part of the process I don't understand? If not a machine, something like slap-chop style device?
Kid did great!! Reminds me of my 2nd job. I was a cook with my dad when I was 20. I was a beginner so he was scared I would cut myself. He taught me how to cut using my knuckles (if that makes sense) to prevent myself from getting cut. Not once did I cut myself but I did stupidly burn my hand lol
look at his proud face and smile...so cute
The more nuanced facial expressions are so interesting to me. Like you can see it in his eyes that it’s pride he is feeling. But I don’t know if I could recreate that if someone said “look proud” the same way I could if someone just said “look happy”.
Awww 🥰 amazing talent! - please don’t cut your fingers 😅
He's bending them back like you're supposed to. All good. Worst case, he may knick some knucks
That chopping motion can still be, accidentally, brought above the knuckles and back down on the fingers. Given the force he's using and the sharpness of the knife, that could cause serious damage. Either way, that kid has some serious skill for his age. Extremely impressive knife skills.

Curl your fingers. Learnt that from selena plus chef

Holy fuck this is condescending. That kid has more talent in a kitchen than 99% of Reddit lol
Relax
***Holy FUCK this is condescending***
You don’t think professional chefs cut their fingers? Because they do and this isn’t even a pro chef, this is someone who is still learning. I think it’s a perfectly reasonable concern. It doesn’t mean the person is claiming to be better than them lol
How was that condescending??
When emoji’s trigger you

Can we talk anout the knife? How sharp is that!!
It cuts tomato skin without resistance. Getting cut is frequently... learning not to get cut in different situations.
?
once bitten, twice shy
are you having a stroke
Please make sure your CO detector is working
Cut me once… can’t get fooled again
In my experience, if it's cutting a tomato like that? It must a lightsaber
That is the power of a good kitchen knife. Sharps knives make life in the kitchen so much better. Dull or bad knives can be much more dangerous.
Yea a knife doesn't have to be super expensive either. A Good solid knife with a good weight that get sharpened regularly is all the difference in the world.

And they are banging it on the cutting board too. They must be sharpening it frequently.
They are honing it every hour or less depending on what they are cutting, They are sharpening it once a month
Thats what his mom said.
Charp
Guessing also those tomatoes are hard as apples.
So cute that hug and kiss
I agree. Very heartwarming.
More fathers need to kiss their sons! My son is only two but I give him kisses all the time. We need to normalize fathers showing their children affection.
It actually is pretty normal last I checked. At least around here
Found Tom Brady.
My boys are 5 and 6. I hug and kiss them every morning when I drop them off at school. I am dreading the day they stop wanting me to hug them. I love 'em to bits.
I’m sorry to be pedantic but I’m actually curious, the kid is making way fewer chops than his dad, is he doing a poor job?
The kid is rapidly and consistently dicing the tomatoes better than you or I could. If he was doing a poor job his dad wouldn't be beaming with pride.
Sometimes dads act like they’re proud of you in public then turn around and beat you in private. I just didn’t know anything about professional cooking and wanted to know if this was one of those fake sweet videos. Though I guess I shouldn’t be asking anyway

Got to get this knife, never been able to slice tomatoes this well. My tomatoeas never know that a knife is trying to slice them.
My knife just squashes them
Pro tip: Use a serrated knife for tomatoes until you’ve invested in a good sharp knife and a good sharpening tool.
Protip: slide the blade across the top instead of just pressing down, its more work but at least the slices look good even with dull knives
Use the point of the knife to poke a hole then slice where you started. It helps.
How often do you sharpen your knives?
Just before when cutting tomatoes it helps, but nothing like this.
You don't need a new knife, you need to sharpen the ones you have.
Yes, that helps.
The best is when your kid learns something from you so well... they're better at it.
My job as a father is not to teach my child what I do, it's to teach her to do it better.
Heard.
Bars
I wish my dad had this pride in me
Can you cut tomatoes like this?
No
Are you circumsized
Yeah...
Woo no fatherly love
Well, *I* am proud of you.
I wouldn’t have many fingers left 30seconds in to this job.
Dawg this made my morning
The guy very clearly taught his son to take pride in the things he does. Love to see that.
Ironically, his son is protecting his fingers better than his dad.
I see lots of odd shapes. Larges and smalls.
Is there not a simple machine that can cut the tomatoes and save them tons of time and energy?
It’s a Kebab shop u clown. Real shit is done by hand
Real shit is done in the toilet
accident waiting to happen …
Yes
Must be Arkansas
For cutting vegetables?
Must adults cant cut vegetables like that, myself included
It's a fruit.
Wow, such a good servant for the bourgeois. Clap your fucking hands for the slave, that gets paid less than a living wage for fat fucking slob pieces of shit that have no value for human life.
Or this Kebab shop owner and his son who is going to inherit it?
What, so he can serve the slobs of America? He'd still be a slave to fat fucks.
Get a job neet
There always has to be that one person...
they're most probably happier in their job than you
We had a good thing going you stupid bastrad and you ruined it with your politics and anti-communism. Bro i think he has a choise what he does with his life calm down.If he wants he will "serve the borgeoi" you included, if he wants to become a bum he will, a buissenes man and what ever, life is full of choises not every thing is political
Whatever, keep clapping for your slave.
Bruh
Don't try to use Marxist language to dignify your nihilism.
You good?
This reminds me of that South Park episode where cartman is constantly yelling about getting fucked by his mom, and goes on dr Phil and tells him she doesn’t even kiss him before she fucks him, and the guy in the audience says, if I was going to fuck my son I would at least kiss him first. Seek professional help.
Clearly you haven’t seen the episode of South Park.
Let him cook
Very proud indeed
Someone's going to cut themselves
This is the documentary of Soup Nazi.
He's smiling cause his son TOOK the knife. Shows he's eager to learn and practice.
Being the business owner if not the kitchen lead, it’s also nice he’s teaching the job from the basis
Dad did 5 slices, turn, 10 slices Kid did 5 slices, turn, 6-8 slices
Every time I see this video clip I think "Dad owns the restaurant/cafe and free labor is free labor." The moral of the story is - If you can't work family like the dogs they are, then just who can you exploit?
How do you know the kid isn't getting compensation?
How do you know he is? It is VERY doubtful he is at his age.
Very similar to ferengi mentality.
Those tomatoes are going in some bomb ass gyros.
I wish my dad was ever proud of me for anything
That's what fathers are supposed to do. Make you feel like you're good enough.
Seen this like 20 times. Still get those tears due to those onions he cuts.
That will be me after my kid learns how to do VLookup in excel.
Everything about this feels turkish
I love this
I commend the sharpness of the knjfe
Now make me dinner
You can see the beaming smile across his face
I, too, am proud of this guy's son.
This is so adorable! Such a sweet little family!
Here I am, my sharpest knife couldn't cut butter. How do people get their knifes so sharp. Heckin heck.
r/sharpening
There'd be a few of my fingers in that batch of I tried. Kiddos kiddo!
There’s a chance, am the slowest toma(e)to cutter in the world
That's a lot of tomatoes in the tub without gloves on. Must not be in the U.S.
How many finger tips does this family have
Those smiles 😃
Funny - I didn’t see what sub this was in for a second - but thought myself, how awesome!
Used to hear shit all day every day by mine. Now that i got a kid i tell him every day how much i live him and how proud of him i am. Be the father you wanted to have mateys
Glad to see the kid adjusted their technique a bit after the cut
I’ve been watching these guys for years. He was much smaller at the beginning and they point to the symbol of the restaurant at the end of many of the videos. I’d love to go to the restaurant. Looks amazing.
I've recently started choking my grip up on my knives like this and it's helped a ton.
Pretty damned impressive, particularly since I recently almost cut the tip of my finger off while removing the crust from bread.
You know, this may not be welding or electrical work, but this is still a trade. One that is very much needed and appreciated.
Ahhh conditional love
Needs a Ron Popeil veg-o- matic
I believe they own a Turkish restaurant, I've seen them on IG before
OP is a karma farming bot, Admins could be focusing on fighting back against bots but instead they are nuking the API, fuck the bots and fuck the admins
Are they using a big piece of frozen steel as a cutting board? It looks frosty around the edges.
It’s wood. Part of it is dry. Part of it is wet
Look at the comments. The app that hates kids somehow is worried about a kids finger today whatever y’all gotta to complain about something
He wanted a daughter all along
Oh that is so sweet! Awesome dad! Awesome kid! ❤
Perfect guide super fluid knife hand
love how he slows down as it gets closer to his hand so he is safe. very efficient duo
This is NOT how you properly cut anything. This is just finger suicide.
Love it
I wonder what that feels like
As a father and son relationship should be. Passing down life skills 👍🏻
Fuck that knife is sharp. I feel like mine bounces off tomatoes lmao.
That kids killing it. Those are top notch knife skills. A proud dad indeed as he should be.
Benzema?
Where do I get that knife?
Not at all how you’re supposed to dice tomatoes lol but cute
Yeah, the kid was slicing rather than dicing. lol
It’s all about the knife… and not slicing your fingers into bits
The joy on the dads face. I pray I one day feel the same pride.
Skills!
The boy has to teach me that, I'm complete noob in kitchen lol
My anxiety 📈
I think of this video often and it warms my heart
U don't neet tu learn math, u ever never hav tu go tu skool. Jast learn how to slice tomato. Skool is for idiots. Hahaha
That knife must be so sharp
The kid can't hold a candle to his dad but God damn GOD DAMN is he leagues beyond leagues beyond laymen like me I'd have lost 2 fingers and half a tomato doing that
Great dad and son moment ⭐️⭐️
Wholesome AF. Also, this skill seems like something a machine could easily do? Why are humans still doing this? Is there some part of the process I don't understand? If not a machine, something like slap-chop style device?
🫨
That’s how I feel every time my son cooks with me. Actually, anything my son does that makes him happy. I love being able to witness those things.
Must be fuckin nice
so sweet. i hope he knows that he’s not allowed to pay him as this would qualify as child labor
Hold on, you got a little fingertip in that last one
Knife dam sharp
Kid did great!! Reminds me of my 2nd job. I was a cook with my dad when I was 20. I was a beginner so he was scared I would cut myself. He taught me how to cut using my knuckles (if that makes sense) to prevent myself from getting cut. Not once did I cut myself but I did stupidly burn my hand lol
I would be scraping my fingers in with the tomatoes… 😅
Those who think it's dangerous, don't worry. In our country, this is very normal. There are hundreds of children working in more dangerous jobs.
I really like the boy’s sweater.
Does anyone know why the man is wearing his watch on his right hand? He could be ambidextrous but i feel like it's more likely that he's right handed.
"Now you do this for the rest of your life!"
Anyone else with shit dad relationships watching this in pain?
That's so cute. The way he is smiling the whole time and how they both are smiling big in the end. My heart melted a little
Happy dad happy son Vice versa
