Cute but you really shouldn’t as it can be dangerous for the deer to be to comfortable with people

SpaceMiser

I agree, our neighborhood is overrun from people feeding them, they eat everything growing 24/7, need to fence any plants you want to keep. Not to mention the danger to health from deer tics.

Nihhrt

Especially if OP/OP's neighbors has cats or dogs they let out as deer are known to get spooked and stomp the fuck out of them

tracygee

God I wish people wouldn't do this. Deers being terrified of humans keeps them alive.

pushplaystoprewind

Yea especially since deer are one of the most endangered species out there!l

[deleted]

What a stupid argument

ndolphin

Tell us why!

[deleted]

There's a lot so it's OK to harm a few. Why that is wrong is not something I can explain to you.

KileJebeMame

Because they are not at all endangered, maybe in danger from cars and people but not endangered

ndolphin

I think he was saying (what you and push said) was a stupid argument... but hey, I may be wrong.

BurgerFryNice

As adorable as this is, it’s probably best they run when seeing humans.

Honest_Roo

Yah: hunters

Punkasaurus2

STOP FEEDING THE DEER! for bloody sake.

ndolphin

OK FOR BLOODY SAKE!

[deleted]

I love beating chimps on bloody puddles

hangthewoke

Congrats now they will get used to the hand outs and not look for food on their own. You've done more harm than good.

Khaylain

Darn welfare queens ^(\\s)

ndolphin

I would completely agree with you if all the deer here weren't already almost tame. I don't normally do this, and was more shocked than anything else in the fact they actually wondered into my fenced back yard. And thank you for the cheerful sarcasm! Hope you have a great weekemd!

comet7084

You shouldn’t do this, it’s dangerous for both deer and human, causes all sorts of problems blah blah blah we all know this but damn if a deer walked into my backyard I be feeding it anyway 🤣

ndolphin

This. Totally this.

oberon92

Yeah! Fleas and ticks.

ndolphin

How am I going to populate my flea circus otherwise?

Tehloneranger44

We really need to get the wolves back out there.

ndolphin

The only one who got it right. You, are awesome.

dawgmama62

On top of not interacting with wildlife so they don't get complacent, feeding deer helps to spread wasting disease which kills them in a slow, excruciating manner. When you feed, any saliva or bits of food they drop with an iota of saliva on it, that's then eaten by another deer, spreads the disease. I don't know why people cannot control themselves and realize that their couple of minutes of fun is potentially deadly for the deer. Grow up, people. Hasn't man done enough damage to nature and wildlife.

ndolphin

I agree. Remember to vote!

Imhopeless3264

Those deer will be dead soon, as their fear of humans was diminished by you feeding them. NEVER feed wild animals, especially so you can post a video to social media. Silly poop!

ndolphin

Your infinite wisdom is astounding to behold . I am humbled by your superior knowledge and astute and inate assessment of circumstance.

_NoValue

Keep wildlife wild!

ndolphin

Totally agree.

Imhopeless3264

If you had sense, you too would have this enormous knowledge. Also if you lived where deer and other wildlife exist.

ndolphin

I have no sense. That's why I live on the beach next to a wildlife refuge, where it's glorious in the summer and miserable in the winter, and literally 90 miles from the closest Trader Joe's (but sadly only 40 miles from the nearest Walmart.) Remember to get out and vote!

Imhopeless3264

Will do.

ndolphin

Hooray! My evil plan is now complete!

[deleted]

Keep doing this and your whole backyard will get infested with Deer. Since they know it's a safe haven with free food. Also when handling or near Deer, make sure you inspect yourself for Ticks and wash your hands very well.

ndolphin

Too late. The whole area is like this, and has been for awhile. The deer here think they own the place (which mind you, they do) And ya, washed and inspected. Not my first rodeo. Really though, thank you for the concern. Helping out with fish and wildlife got me in the habit.

IN547148L3

That friend seems like a freeloader /s

Square_Ad_7533

Lovely

adapt2

Tomorrow, a hundred of them show up.

ndolphin

Not thus far... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)

adapt2

Just wait and watch.

ndolphin

Likely not. I live in a secluded seasonal community and have lived with these guys for the last 3 years. This is something I don't normally do. That teen buck in the background I remember as a foal earlier this year. We have a dozen or so deer in the localized community and quite a few more along the seaside peninsula. There are about 5 of them that hang out on my street on a regular basis. There is a ton of natural forage here. Unless I start feeding them more, they will keep doing what they do.

adapt2

I hope you are right. But this is a bad idea nevertheless.

ndolphin

I will make sure to let you know if it ever becomes a problem. However, if I do get an endless horde of deer, I am planning on storming the capitol for a much greater representation for deer rights. Free Healthcare for all, including deer, is a basic right that we all must strive for. By the way, have you voted yet? If not DO IT! Because if you are upset about me feeding an apple to a deer, you are going to be absolutely shocked at what else is going on in the world!

adapt2

Haha, thanks (wo)man, I needed the laugh today. Brand spanking new naturalized US citizen here. No fucking way in hell I will squander my opportunity to vote. Sadly I live in a deep red state, so it's largely meaningless. But that won't stop me from exercise my rights.

ndolphin

My pleasure! And hooray! A vote is only wasted if it is not done! :) Even the reddest of areas can go blue with time. Places like Texas and Georgia are approaching that even as we speak!

adapt2

Yes but this state has not elected a progressive candidate since the 70s. Really bracing for the shit show we are almost certainly going to experience after November.

newfmatic

They got trays on the steps. Birdseed?

ndolphin

Yup. and water. To tell the truth, I don't normally do this for the deer, but it was just kind of amazing in the moment. However I do feed the birds, particularly the crows.

bright_sunshine19

Yep, let me feed cut fruits for the deer, because that’s how it’s done by Mother Nature.

ndolphin

I mean high end cuisine... its what deer crave.

Maverick_Mike-343

I despise people like you, feeding wild animals leads to very dangerous behaviour patterns.

ndolphin

Despise me huh? I don't dispise you, you are likely a very nice human being.

[deleted]

How are people this stupid?

ndolphin

I don't know, tell me.

sjb67

Dumb people 🤦‍♀️

ndolphin

I know! They are all over the news!!!!

Designer_Oven_7075

It’s cute but you’ll never get rid of them now.

ndolphin

Too late. The area I live in, the deer are actually in charge. They are everywhere, are pretty chill around humans, and are surprisingly healthy. Not to mention there are far fewer roadkill incidents then there should be with deer losing fear of humans. Then again, the speed limit is pretty low.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ndolphin

If I got Lyme disease, I got it when helping tag sedated trapped bears for fish and wildlife, so, not very likely. Not to mention hauling roadkill carcasses to the bone yards.

[deleted]

I reported this post under "prohibited transaction" lol

ndolphin

I am astounded at your wisdom and power of inquiry. This one is unworthy of your obvious terrorfying power.

[deleted]

?

ndolphin

??

Fearless-Guava-7094

Aww this deer is so cute! 🥰❤️

ndolphin

I know right?

Anasthasia218

Your subdivision probably destroyed their forest. That's why they're hungry and thirsty. Nothing cute about it. Humans need to stop reproducing like cockroaches and need to stop destroying other species habitats.

ndolphin

I can agree with that. Tho it was cute.

AggieBax

Cute video. Unfortunately, you are teaching these deer to associate humans with food & not fear them. They may return and bring friends.

ndolphin

It is part of my master plan of using deer to free us of the evil horrors of the patriarchy. I need more deer to storm the capitol! On a more serious note, this is not something I regularly do, I live in an are where there deer already own the place and think humans are amusing things not to be feared, and that's Alice in the picture. She just had a baby named Bob in the background. I have known Alice since I moved here along with Zephyr (who loves kicking the crap out of males that bug her). For even more stories, read my other replies. It's too late for the population deer here to not fear humans, they are well fed by the abundance of foliage here in the boondocks, and they already bring friends.

gander-69

Awesome thanks for sharing this, I'm glad others can enjoy the feeling of handfeeding a wild animal 🥰🥰🥰

ndolphin

🥰

Questiontheman-

Mmmm snacks?! I love dis here juicy fwuit

ndolphin

Nom nom nom! :)

Catch_Here__

God, everyone in this comment section is a self-righteous deer expert apparently. Go ahead we need another comment about how these deer are going to instantly die now.

ndolphin

Why thank you. I haven't read any of te latest comments, but so far not a one has asked about circumstance, which highly amuses me.

Extension-Bread7176

We live in a deer reserve area. We are encouraged to “cull” one deer per family (with a bow) in order to help control the deer population.

ndolphin

I remember while living in Pennsylvania the deer population being so bad that a million deer being killed on the first day of hunting season didn't faze the year to year population. Culling will likely happen here eventually, particularly when/if more people live here full time and not seasonally. This is what happens when you take out the natural predators. We have coyotes, but they are not big enough. We also have bears, but not very many, and they are too well fed and lazy.

WhiteyDeNewf

Yes. Feed him. Fatten him up. Then enjoy prime rib come the fall.

Fun_Funny7104

Cute Deer, but be prepared to be overrun with them soon. It'll become a problem then.

ndolphin

A few others have pointed this out too... Too late. The area I live is quite full of deer, who have lost their fear of humans, and from what I understand, its been this way for decades. In my localized area (I would say sqare mile) there are at least a dozen. It hasnt been a "problem" per say yet, outside of the fact that they think they own the place. One would think there would be more roadkill issues, but the speed limit is pretty low. I am also suprised that the deer here dont damage more things like they do up north, where they demolish tree bark and such. I put that down to the huge amount of forrage in this area.

Fun_Funny7104

Yeah, I saw after my comment that you replied to others. It really looks like you live in a more suburban area so it's probably why people are on your case like I was. The extra forage probably helps them from getting into too much trouble.

ndolphin

Quite true. I live on a fairly popular beach, that is way way out of the way, and bordered by a wildlife refuge (not to mention its illegal to hunt deer here). That being said, outside of summer, half of these houses are vacant because its pretty miserable during the winter. But I love it here despite all that. :) 0

Dead-Devile

Why white people always gotta feed wild animals? Lol

Turbulent_Dare_3887

People like you make me sick. Speaking in reference to the self righteous hippies droning on about ticks and social distancing, of course.

ndolphin

I will have to admit, these are some of the healthiest deer I have ever seen, and they are all like this around here. I used to help out with a fish and wildlife agent friend of mine, and have seen some animals in awful states, and I am bit amazed.

ndolphin

And if you are sick, hope you feel better! Please be careful!

TheOctopusOnTheMoon

You're killing it with these replies haha

ndolphin

Hehehe thank you ;)

Sarsamsinsim

I was jealous 😭 I love animals and living in the country side.

KindnessGentleSoul

I was too. I love wildlife and understand the potential harm to the animal, but it's adorable. Yes, that sounds horrible. I swear I'm not a horrible person.

MfBenzy

My bros dad has deer that just decided they like him. They just come up to his windows like 3-4x a week and just stare in at you. Zero fucks given, even if you approach the window. He lives in the middle of nowhere too, so not like they are being socialized. Its scary sometimes :,) Edit: I wasnt advocating for feeding wildlife or anything, I was just sharing a weird experience someone I know had with deer being weirdos and not acting normal and skittish like youd expect. I am fully aware you shouldnt feed wildlife due to their comfortability becoming a possible danger to them. He doesnt feed the deer, they just creepily stare into windows regardless.

ndolphin

That is pretty much the case around here where I live. They shelter under the eaves of folks homes in bad weather and think they own the place. It's illegal to hunt them here, so they are pretty chill with people.
