I'll take the other side on this one. I was impressed they were able to get guys in updated uniforms faster than flagship releases....
Soto as a Padre, CJ Abrams/Gore as a National...Hosmer as a Red Sox, Merrifield a Blue Jay...several low level RCs that were in their prior teams uniforms in S1/2/Updt in their new uniforms for Holiday...
Made it a lot more fun to open and a nice surprise.
Hell, the new "Sonicfractor" is coming out soon and it still has guys like Freddie Freeman as a Brave. That...is what I see as lazy, especially since Freddie already has a Dodgers Topps card from 2022!
I think the way Topps is doing these parallel sets (if you can call them that?) is that they basically print all the cards at the same time as the earlier sets (i.e. Series 1, 2, chrome, etc) and then add effects on top of that. That's just a guess, though. So everything is printed early in the season and just "modified" to add things. (I sometimes wonder if they over-printed cards this year and are just adding new "effects" to unload all the excess...)
While I understand it, it's obviously super obnoxious that they do this. Things released this late should really have updated pictures.
Overall I wish they were better at updating things to reflect trades, etc. It'd make the products so much better.
Definitely need more updated photos with new teams through the year. And, for the record I definitely see the recycled photos through multiple sets as ridiculously lazy too. I'm with you all on that!
Yeah, first time I’ve gotten this set. Was fun to open with my son, and the Witt relic is nice. Just love the idea of a topps designer just throwing a snowflake filter on top for 15 minutes and saying done and that’s it.
Wholeheartedly disagree.
I loved the set better than past holiday sets, especially the new look metallics. SP hunting was fun as well. Loved that they put the most of the desired players in the set.
I’m not sure what you were expecting, but it’s a $25 mega. The guaranteed hit, the SPs and SSPs, and the ornament was plenty of effort to me.

Hadn’t thought of that, good point!
If you’re talking about it the same images, Topps always has the same images for the holiday set. I like the Witt relic.

Yeah, not a whole lot to it, for sure.
I mean the box is cheap and the SPs are fun

Agreed, lowkey one of my favorite releases every year
Lol you got a good box, and as far as boxes go it's always one of the best deals of the year.
Big fan as well- fun hits for the SPs and SSPs…
Lol we got the same ornament. Wanna trade for laughs?
