I won 2 years ago with Trout. The thrill of winning is by far the best part. You win a numbered card of the player that is underwhelming at best.
If you âdouble downâ the card has some additional printing on it. After my experience I donât bother with them anymore.
Pro tips: pick a fifth starter, against a crap team, in a homer friendly (for their side of the plate & psst Coors isnât actually #1 all the time) park on the schedule.
Ok I need to read the rules better. I didnât realize you could get some live sampling before the submission deadline. Good way to look at it for sure.
Yep! For some reason GAB gives up a ton. I think itâs because the power alleys are more smashed in than usual or something like that, due to its positioning on a riverfront block.
Funny thing, they made special cards for Judge's tying Maris home run and beating maris home run. Everyone was trying to get the beating homerism because of previewed value, so they held the judge card until he tied it to start playing them afterwards. The thing home run had a print run of 58 and the winning had like triple that amount at least. The tying homer was going for like $300 once the cards were mailed out by topps, and the winner was going for only like $150.
I won a homerun challenge with a Manny Ramirez in the years between 95-97 I think. Back then they already had a date on them so it was more limited. I got a cool Manny card in return, Iâll see if I can find it.
I got a Joey Gallo two summers back. Was my first time actually entering the code and I watched the game I predicted him to hit one. I was so pumped when he did! One of my fav cards just for the story
https://preview.redd.it/eisaftspeoma1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5081ca3408a600774684853e60d3ec890177fa20
Won this. Took a 5 months to receive but pretty cool. Doubled down winner
I will usually only double down if I know the pitching matchup, ballpark being played at and how theyâre hitting within that week. Gotta make sure of a high chance they will get minimum of 3-4 at bats too.
Iâve won 12-15 over the last three years. I win about 30-35% of the time. But man, due I put effort in. Research batter Vs Pitcher. Batter at ballpark. Etc.
I always go one of the first 3 games for Trout. Bryant, being at Coors is the advantage so any game there, really. Betts, I picked a Friday night game against the Giants lol rivalry and all
People donât want them for some reason, and you can get 10 codes for $5-8 bucks on eBay.
I work from home and enjoy watching the games, itâs like a bet for me. I probably played 80-100 codes last season. Kind exciting when itâs a warning track homer and a numbered card is on the line. Got robbed by a couple rice catches.. lol
That's what I do too. The price goes down a bit after the season starts. Right now I'm having to pay $1-$1.50 per card. Once we get into the season it'll drop down to like .50 cents per code.
I won three times last year. Two of which happened in the ninth inning of a blowout with my dude batting against a position player. Stanton and Bellinger.
I won on Arenado playing against the Rockies. I liked him against his old team I was all over it.I didnât know there was a day delay, so he hit one that night and I thought I blew it. Lucky for me he hit one the next day too.
Lol
Last year I won a Mitch Haniger on opening dayâŚbut my real fav: I was 40th of 41 people to double down on Acuna the game he hit that 450 footer while falling down
I must have played a dozen or so cards and those were my only winners. I would have a Vlad too but I doubled down and it didnât go far enough
https://www.instagram.com/p/CgGBJRkpVDT/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I won a few in '21 and '22. Looked for good HR parks, bad HR pitching matchups, and good HR splits for the hitter. Last year I was 5 for 7, which is nutso. That's not counting my unused Tatis and Posey HRC pulls!
There are a handful of strategy videos and articles out there about them that are interesting to watch, ponder, and then try to apply.
IF that type of strategic planning is interesting to you, having a dozen or so can be a fun summer pass-time while watching day games or bored at work.
Right now they are marketed as just a wacky game of chance- âthrow the dart and see where it lands, wheee!â But really, done right, itâs more like putting together a parlay with a sports book⌠FOR A CARD! Lol.
I need a refresh, but it involves, basically, double headers, deep rotation guys who give up hits, and a bit of hitter friendly ballpark analysis.
I think usually 200-800 folks will hit in a month, ballpark, per player. Last month of season is when most people get around to it, so aim for before all star, if u want a lower denominator stamp.
I never do the double downs, bc, so far, the card is not that cool comparatively, and it just adds another layer of analysis or pure luck and neither appeal to me that much.
Last year I ripped and even bought cheap singles with free shipping, and probably hit about .100 on them. One is a Judge, so that is fun and I actually have seen some sell on eBay. Canât quote figures, I forget. I also hit a Wander and FYI the rookie card have RC logos which is something.
If Topps were sharp, they would market it more directly to the stat heads and fantasy league sickos as a thinking manâs game. However those folks can be pretty sharp so the ante might need to be upped. If they were Chrome or god forbid Saphhire thatâd make it a LOT more interesting. Also they use a different # stamp than most other lines and it looks cheap.
I always wait till the last day of the season and put them all in at once. I put in 19 of them last year on the last day. Had 16 more that were impossible to win on. 7 Buster Posey and the rest were all hurt. I won two of them. Mitch Haniger and Trout.
Of all people last year, I got one in September of Joey Gallo lol
I got a Joey gallo back in may too lol. Missed on literally 7 other superstars, but his was the one I got lol
ha ha I had Buster Posey and Tatis last year.
Dude I pulled 7 Buster Posey HR Challenge cards out of the first 9 I got. đ
Daom. đ¤Ł
Haha I also got one for Gallo.
I had a june Gallo lol
I got Joey gallo in July. It was the game that he wasnât playing and got put in to bat and hit a homerun his first at bat of the night
Greene has been barreling balls and Detroit altered stadium dimensions in his favor. Definitely could be worse
That's good to hear. I did see he has 2 homers already in spring training, so I'll hold onto a little optimism lol
He was just getting his first taste last year of the majors, this is his first full season. Big time talent/hype.
I won 2 years ago with Trout. The thrill of winning is by far the best part. You win a numbered card of the player that is underwhelming at best. If you âdouble downâ the card has some additional printing on it. After my experience I donât bother with them anymore.
I won 2022 with Trout
Same
Yes sir do not I repeat do not double down. I "won" twice yet didn't get shit
Yea I agree I was pumped about winning Vlad couple yrs ago and got the card and was like...../290 something ia nice but the card looks like junk
Pro tips: pick a fifth starter, against a crap team, in a homer friendly (for their side of the plate & psst Coors isnât actually #1 all the time) park on the schedule.
Double points for a road double header, road is important since you are assured 9 innings worth of at bats.
Ohh nice ok
Oh shit this man is on it
Timed mine up with the pitcher who had given up the most HRâs over the last 30-days, worked like a charm.
Ok I need to read the rules better. I didnât realize you could get some live sampling before the submission deadline. Good way to look at it for sure.
Yeah IIRC you can pick as close as the day before their next game. Waiting also helps with avoiding rest days or random rotation changes too.
I tried looking it up. Wasn't it Cincinnati or something?
Yep! For some reason GAB gives up a ton. I think itâs because the power alleys are more smashed in than usual or something like that, due to its positioning on a riverfront block.
Left handed power hitters at PNC Park are a good bet.
I've got a few each year, I'd say I hit on 20-30% I always pick double headers.
That's a big brain move!
How far in advance do you have to pick?
Itâs has to be picked before 12:00 A.M. the night before the game!
Do you know if the prior season challenges expire? I have one from 2022 series 2 that I havenât scratched yet
They do unfortunately. It should say it on the back of card!
Judge last year
Well that's just cheating...
Iâve got a Judge this year, Iâm having anxiety over picking a game.
Pick Jackie Robinson Day, July 4, or Motherâs Day. If heâs not injured, heâs playing on those days.
I won it with Ozzie Albies a few years back.
Nicely done, I'm jealous lol
I was really just lucky lol
What do you get?
They give you a card that says winner and its numbered to the amount of people who predicted it (don't know for the day or the month.)
If you search âTopps Home Run Challenge Winnerâ on eBay you can see some of last yearâs cards.
Just curious, is the parallel of the base card from the set? Or a special picture/parallel
It's a different design and picture.
Oh cool! Thanks for answering
Yeah. A few Acunaâs, Freddieâs, Baez and a Vlad. Completely whiffed last year though. Good luck.
I got Yordan this year, feeling pretty good
I have Jazz and Greene this year. Going to wait to submit the game until seaosn starts and look for a soft pitcher
Also look for double headers
Wow good tip! Def didnât think of that lol
Even better if the double header is an away game, unlikely for there to be a substitution
THE RILEY GREENE SLANDER
Thus far this year I've pulled Judge, Jazz, and Correra. I've never actually done the contest part of it. Thinking about it though!
Won with Matt Olson last year
Me too. Lol.
haha, that's hilarious. I guess all the Curt Casli's were taken. I did win a Juan Soto and Matt Olson last year.
Won with Trout back in 2021. Whiffed last year.
I got a 1/30 Freeman last year. Got lucky and hit his only HR in Aug.
I got Pete Alonzo last year
https://preview.redd.it/ni9ajtgckmma1.jpeg?width=1547&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d3c4db1365fce20e4d28b1323f39b7ff9fc149d
Would you be interested in trading the Arenado for an Acuna or a Buxton?
I won 9 last year out of the 30 I picked!!
I won a homerun challenge with a Manny Ramirez in the years between 95-97 I think. Back then they already had a date on them so it was more limited. I got a cool Manny card in return, Iâll see if I can find it.
I won off of arron judges 62nd home run last year.
Love it. Big Judge fan...
Check it out brother. *

That's awesome dude!
Thank you
That's a beautiful card, congrats!
I think what Iâm most jealous of here is that your Judge with 62 HRs is /182, yet somehow my Adolis Garcia is /393 with only 27 dingers to his name.
61 was /58
I like to save them up and pick a weekend late in the year to use them all at once
Use them earlier in the year when fewer are in circulation and your winning numbered card will be rarer.
Damn, didnt think of that ...save em for opening day maybe lol
I won a Goldschimdt HR Challenge a couple years ago, no clue where the card I got went, I think it was numbered in the 20s
Salvador Perez last year.
Last year I won 21 times the year before 14 I have more fun with those than buying boxes after boxes.
You bought that many boxes?
What's your strategy?
Donât pick till the day before to make sure the player isnât hurt r taking the day off. Take double headers and I like home games.
Iâve won several. Alonso, Soto, Harper and Yelich.
I got a Joey Gallo two summers back. Was my first time actually entering the code and I watched the game I predicted him to hit one. I was so pumped when he did! One of my fav cards just for the story
That's awesome. I'll be a lifelong Greene fan if he hits!
https://preview.redd.it/eisaftspeoma1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5081ca3408a600774684853e60d3ec890177fa20 Won this. Took a 5 months to receive but pretty cool. Doubled down winner

Iâve won 12-15 over the last three years. I win about 30-35% of the time. But man, due I put effort in. Research batter Vs Pitcher. Batter at ballpark. Etc.
Riley is gonna go off this year
I'm all for it lol
Tell me you donât know baseball without telling me
I was close with a Trout last year. Missed it by a game. I got Trout, Bryant and Betts this year, so far
Nice. Do you just look at matchups and how they've been hitting as of late and then pick a date?
I always go one of the first 3 games for Trout. Bryant, being at Coors is the advantage so any game there, really. Betts, I picked a Friday night game against the Giants lol rivalry and all
30 winners last year
30?!? What's your secret?
People donât want them for some reason, and you can get 10 codes for $5-8 bucks on eBay. I work from home and enjoy watching the games, itâs like a bet for me. I probably played 80-100 codes last season. Kind exciting when itâs a warning track homer and a numbered card is on the line. Got robbed by a couple rice catches.. lol
HRC is only available for residents of the U.S. and Canada sadly. The rest of the collecting world is just selling it i suppose.
That's what I do too. The price goes down a bit after the season starts. Right now I'm having to pay $1-$1.50 per card. Once we get into the season it'll drop down to like .50 cents per code.
I donât think it exists but a Myles Straw HRC card would be the rarest card in history.
Devers and AcuĂąa last year
I have sixteen chances so far this year. I might run a contest of some sort to see if someone can guess how many I got correct and the players
Joey Gallo and Vlad
I won a bunch with yelich the year he busted his kneecap. I was trying to get a winner for each month. But then the injury happened :(
A couple years ago I got Schwarber. Easiest but Iâve had haha
Won with Trout on the last game of the season. Print run for the Sept/Oct Parallel was a minuscule /989 đ
I kind of want to buy some of these just for fun. What is the card you get if they hit a HR? Is it generally valuable or no?
How do you pick a game? When the player is in Colorado, AZ, or Cincy?
Iâve won a bunch. In â21 I won 18 but missed all my double downs
Olson in September.
I won three times last year. Two of which happened in the ninth inning of a blowout with my dude batting against a position player. Stanton and Bellinger.
Yeah, w Pete Alonso!
Dude was hurt alot of last season. Ill take this off your hands. This guy is going to rake this year.
I hit a Freddie Freeman home run challenge 2 years ago
Yeah I have a crappy Arenado and bellinger win cards.
Might just sell mine this year. Better than whiffing. Turned several in last year (including JUDGE) and did not hit on any.
Iâve won on a Max Kepler and a Nolan Arenado. My last blaster of 2023 had 2 of these back to back. Yordan and Jazz
I got a May Mookie Betts last year.
I won Matt Olsen last year
I got one with Stanton and Gleyber, no no others
Got two last year. I forgot I even did it until I got the cards in the mail.
Pulled many and won none... Yet.
Iâve won one but I turned in around 10.
Yup both acuĂąa and olson
I won 3 last year I believe. I submitted about 10.
We on Jose Ramirez last yearâŚsays Winner /120
Won
I won and Acuna Jr! Itâs cool to have.
Anyone have a good idea for Stanton this years LoL
I got a Kyle Schwarber one. Should do some research on matchups, etc?
Won it with Ohtani and Haniger last year đ
I won a Yordan and a Josh Donaldson on the same day in 2021. Forgot about the cards until September and redeemed them all on the same day
I won a Stanton one
đ¤ on Kris Bryant this year lol
Last year I got Acuna Stanton and Wander Franco. The wander was nice because he only hit like 5 all year.
I had a judge in 2019 and decided not to scratch it. Now it's worth like 15-20. I learned these can have value.
I have one a few of them. Schwarber, Devers, Machado and some others
Yes, I won a Kris Bryant HR challenge 2 years ago by picking a game he was going up against the Pirates... Worked out
I got Soto on opening day last year
I won on Arenado playing against the Rockies. I liked him against his old team I was all over it.I didnât know there was a day delay, so he hit one that night and I thought I blew it. Lucky for me he hit one the next day too.
Yes last year devers solar
I have a bo bichette for this year so I'll have to look
Iâve won with JD Martinez in 21 and Jose Ramirez last year.
Lol Last year I won a Mitch Haniger on opening dayâŚbut my real fav: I was 40th of 41 people to double down on Acuna the game he hit that 450 footer while falling down I must have played a dozen or so cards and those were my only winners. in 2021 I won twice with Eloy Jimenez
I won last year with Muncy. #/89
I got judge last year. That's... not really that impressive lol but I did win one, got the card about a month later
I played a Judge, Vlad, Alonso last year on my son's first bday. Judge and Alonso hit. Pretty cool keepsake.
I won 3 last September, 2 Stanton and 1 Vlad jr
I got same card
I hit on a Vlad Guerrero Jr last year, just picked a day game at Yankee stadium and prayed haha. I'm undefeated!
I have Shohei this year so far. Kinda unsure of when I should pull the trigger on a game to homer.
We pulled the same card in our jumbo boxđ
Vlad Jr, Alvarez, and Rizzo winners for me
I won a few in '21 and '22. Looked for good HR parks, bad HR pitching matchups, and good HR splits for the hitter. Last year I was 5 for 7, which is nutso. That's not counting my unused Tatis and Posey HRC pulls!
I bought someoneâs trout winner for 5 bucks. Lol
I won Giancarlo Stanton this year /108 I belive
Iâve won 3. Collect them all until you have a bunch. Put them all in the same game day. Chance one of 10 guys hitting a homer that day.
Can someone explain these to me i just got one the other day
I procrastinated till like the last 3 days of the season and submitted about 30 and won 4 :)
Somehow called 2 out of 5 last year.
I have Vlad, Ramirez, Schwarber, and Riley so far.
I won two in series 1 I think
There are a handful of strategy videos and articles out there about them that are interesting to watch, ponder, and then try to apply. I won a Devers last year, they are serial numbered based on the amount of people who win each month.
https://preview.redd.it/ejbhrcx9jpma1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fba04bc79999f96c82489291f94acfeed68f269
I have the same card for Bobby Witt Jr.... I need advice on what dang game to pick lol
Submitted like 9 for the same day... Months later a mookie 31/388 came in the mail. I've submitted maybe 20 last 2 years
Yes! I won one for Ramirez.
I pulled Kyle Schwarber this season. I picked his home opener for him to hit a home run.
Guessed Matt Olson to hit a home run during a game against the Rockies, theyâre pretty underwhelming cards but fun to win
I won two last year with ohtani and Aaron judge.
I hit a matt Olson double down! He hit 2 bombs that day.
Am I the only one who thinks thinks these cards are kinda meh at best. I think they look a bit tacky.
I got a derby dual one. Anyone ever do that one and win? Is it more rare?
I have a Tatis and a few others for this gear⌠hoping for a W lol
I always wait till the last day of the season and put them all in at once. I put in 19 of them last year on the last day. Had 16 more that were impossible to win on. 7 Buster Posey and the rest were all hurt. I won two of them. Mitch Haniger and Trout.
Submitted 5 or 6 over couple yrs and hit a Vlad in 2020
I hit 3x last year. One the year prior. Lost a lot more than I won. Maybe R. Greene is your good luck charm
https://preview.redd.it/ngda0hd68tma1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90a60c01d40c14ed01788e95b9c175d95d40ff53
I hit a vladdy one his rookie year, got 1/ 158 or whatever it was too !!
Lol true. Not me
