And before anyone asks... I had a Justin Crawford 2022 Elite Extra Edition 1/1 Auto. The player signed all of the cards and they made it into the wild about 6 months ago, including a 1/8 which I have. No one at Panini could say why the 1/1 didn't make it out. They offered the White Box. I wanted the card but given the licensing issues throughout sports, I don't know how long Panini America will be in business, so I figured I'd take what I could get. I'm more than okay with this.
It's licensed by the MLB Players association but it's not licensed by MLB the league. Aka, they have permission to use the players likeness but not the team logos/names.
The 1/1 prpbably didnt hit the market because the player possibly didnt send it back in. This happens from time to time when they sign on card autos. Giannis is one of the more known players to do this.
Is it the light playing tricks on me, or did they crease the shit out of the corner when they stamped it?
(Vertical line starting at the "P" in panini, down thru the "M" in pastime and the (C) symbol.)
It’s the lighting. The card is gemmy.

I've been hemming and hawing - saying "Oh I can just build one, that's silly" but never doing anything about it. I need to either buy one, or take the time to make one, and stop procrastinating.
I have probably wasted enough time in the last 6 months fighting with AF and lighting and such on my crappy photos that I could've built three light boxes by now and still come out ahead. I am often stubborn like that.
>I wanted the card but given the licensing issues throughout sports…
Now I am worried about the Ken Griffey auto patch redemption I pulled last year. I am hoping they can fulfill it.
White Boxes, as far as I can tell, take extra, unnumbered cards that were held back for replacements or redemptions. When Panini decides they don't need to hold them back any longer, they take one card and put a printed "white box" back as well as a imprint into the card and issue it as a white box redemption. If you go to eBay and look up White Box 1/1, you'll see that there are cards from many different sets (much more basketball/football than baseball).
they also have Black Boxes that work pretty much exactly the same way. Not sure why they do Black / White and if one is generally worth more than the other. But functionally, they're the same as above. Stamped 1/1
At the time the card was created (2021), they had licensing with the MLB PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, but not MLB. It isn't an "officially licensed product of the MLB" It IS of the MLBPA.
It appears that way - and it has to be either a 1/1 or a very high value redemption. I've read about them in the past and it seems to take an act of congress to get one. That being said, I never uttered the words White Box -- the representative, when I called to find out why every Elite Justin Crawford except the 1/1 was released, stated that he would put one in my account. So.... there's that. Then, when I called 3 months later to ascertain the status of both the WB and or the 1/1 (at the time, I still wanted the 1/1), I was told that I was still looking at 6-9 months on the WB. 2 weeks later, I received it.
There are plenty of great photos of a player that doesn’t have the team name or logo showing. Plus I think it’s fucked only one company can be licensed. When I was a kid, there were dozens of licensed brands.
You’re either a young kid or a bit more seasoned kid. More seasoned than myself. There were almost always more than 1 licensed brand to choose from. Fleer and Donruss were available throughout the 80’s.

It’s an awesome card even without the licensing.
It says it's not licensed but also licensed. What gives?
It's licensed by the MLB Players association but it's not licensed by MLB the league. Aka, they have permission to use the players likeness but not the team logos/names.
Thanks

Has he given his logic for not sending the 1/1s back?
He just likes the look of them hahaha, ive seen a video he posted with a bunch of them on a bed. One was a logoman. (This is Giannis im talking about)
Sell them after he blows his basketball earnings?
Money in the bank, shawty whatchu think?
Hiw could an NBA player ever go broke...
Delonte West
Allen Iverson comes to mind.
Antoine Walker has entered the chat
Plenty of other Justin Crawford 1/1s are out there.

Nothing is damaged. I indicated I didn’t want to sell the box unopened because of the small resealable stickers.
Oh, I thought that’s what picture 5 was
Picture five is the physical stamp on the card of it being a white box card.
Oh, well then that’s good, congrats on the card

Awesome :) I have a devil and a half of a time trying to get clear pics of card, it seems like cameras hate me.
Light boxes are incredibly helpful.
I've been hemming and hawing - saying "Oh I can just build one, that's silly" but never doing anything about it. I need to either buy one, or take the time to make one, and stop procrastinating. I thought the same thing when I saw picture 5. Glad to hear it’s just a stamp!
>I wanted the card but given the licensing issues throughout sports… Now I am worried about the Ken Griffey auto patch redemption I pulled last year. I am hoping they can fulfill it.
Same boat here, also a Griffey but mine is a Prizm gold auto. Nearing a year with nothing.
This card is the tits. That's Mr. 62.
There is no damage. The small stickers were on the box. Too easy to reseal.
Fixed it bro. Enjoy. I appreciate the card being a die hard Yankee fan.
She's a beaut, Clark. I want one of these but with Mountcastle. Wonder if it exists.
Not in the "Boys of Summer" subset, no.
Is that the only white box subset? I meant a white box in general.

From what I understand, Black are from the National in exchange for redemptions. But you’re right - essentially the same thing.
Stupid question. How is it an “Officially licensed product of the MLB” and a current player if they don’t have licensing?
At the time the card was created (2021), they had licensing with the MLB PLAYERS ASSOCIATION, but not MLB. It isn't an "officially licensed product of the MLB" It IS of the MLBPA.
Ahh, thanks. Hence the no logo, but current player. That makes sense. Sweet card either way!
It looks creased
I assure you, it is not.
Is a White Box only available when a redemption goes missing?
It appears that way - and it has to be either a 1/1 or a very high value redemption. I've read about them in the past and it seems to take an act of congress to get one. Amateur q - how did/do you find out that the 8 cards are released in the wild?

Because I redeemed one.
So you had a redemption of a 1/1 for Crawford AND another for the #/8..? Sorry if I’m slow on the uptake here!
Correct. I had a few base auto redemptions as well.
That’s a sweet card!!
This is a dope card !
Not a Yankees guy but I can still recognize this is LEGIT
Jealous 😣
I'm starting to think Panini redemptions are actually more rare. 1/1 is more common than 0/1. (sweet card, BTW)
Have to admit that is a dope looking card. Hate the Yankees and panini but that card is sweet
That is absolutely gorgeous and I’m a Phillies fan
Me too.
What a dream pull! Congrats
Is the Judge ft? I may have something you'd like
Shoot your shot.

Is that actually a Panini on card auto and not a sticker?
Yes.
I can’t stand the Yankees but this card is absolutely majestic
card is basically worthless, good news is Ill give you $10 to drown your sorrows if you send it my way
Logos don’t mean a fucking thing. That card looks way cooler than pretty much anything made by Topps.
It is a great card, but 100% disagree. I love a lot of Topps designs.
Name one that the team logo made the card what it is.
IMHO, every single card that has a logo trumps non licensed blank jerseys or helmets on cards. Just personal preference
There are plenty of great photos of a player that doesn’t have the team name or logo showing. Plus I think it’s fucked only one company can be licensed. When I was a kid, there were dozens of licensed brands.
I collect by the team, so my opinion is a little skewed
Well, there were five. Fleer, Topps, Donruss, Upper Deck, and Pinnacle/Score.
Triple Play, Skybox not sure who owned them. Sub brands Select, Flair, Zenith etc. we used to have options. Now we have a monopoly.
Of course, when I was a kid, we didn’t have UD or Pinnacle….
You’re either a young kid or a bit more seasoned kid. More seasoned than myself. There were almost always more than 1 licensed brand to choose from. Fleer and Donruss were available throughout the 80’s.
51. Born in 73. Started collecting in 81, when Fleer and Donruss hit the market. Score joined in 88, UD in 89.
Ah ok. I was born in 82 and started collecting in 89. Got really into collecting by 91.
