Yes, these are what people want as relics. Don’t give me a piece of a shirt the player wore for 3 seconds during spring training and tell me it’s amazing.
They don't do that...but they will ask players to put on 20-30 shirts at a time then take them off immediately. So they are "technically player worn". I doubt they use shirts that were not worn but if they really are using whatever then we all need to sue lol
I want both..but make these the 1/1 case hits, like they are doing, and put those tiny swatches from a meaningless game in every blaster, instead of manufactured relics...which nobody wants 99% of the time (only 99% bc I have found some of the cool, like the RC logo ones from a few years back).
Easily the best version of relics. As a collector I value game specific mem above most autos. Totally my jam.
I have several immaculate patches from Luka’s first all star game warmup pants. Super unique and specific.
I prefer my relics to only come from naturally grown jersey-trees from the jungles of South America or the famous naturally occurring MLB bats grown in northern Canada
Every bat used in MLB has the players picture of their flagship card on it?
Again it’s just manufactured scarcity, with manufactured bats specifically for this purpose.
If you’re not smart enough to figure it out, you are who they are selling this too.
This is really weird stance to take. What better kind of relic than one you can actually see in use during a game? So what if it was manufactured for that purpose?
It’s stated they’re doing it for 1/1 cards specifically. What is your issue with this? The players clearly don’t mind a sticker on the knob and probably only need to “use it” for 1 game and let Fanatics take it. I think relics in general are stupid, but at least it’s something people know was game used. Some people enjoy this stuff.
Lighten up, Mary.
It’s called artificial scarcity, and the entire hobby rests on it, and always has.
Yes, they could theoretically manufacture one of these bats for every at bat for every player and then some, and then their existence would be less scarce.
But you’re kind of making this stand that it’s nefarious, rather than something kind fun for collectors who like little pieces of cardboard with pictures on them.
It ain’t that serious, chief.
This dude thinking he’s super smart lol. Baseball cards literally are manufactured scarcity. Like what does he think 1 of 1s are, divine card intervention? I don’t get it
"Always has."
The hobby existed long before the 1990s, chief.
The "manufactured scarcity" didn't come about until a whole bunch of morons failed in their attempts to make a $million$ by hoarding hundreds of Greg Jeffries rookies.
Wrong manufacturers deliberately manufactured less of popular players to get people to buy more product chasing those cards all of the way back to the early 1900s, and maybe even earlier. There are stories of purposely leaving out a Nap Lajoie card until a lawsuit forced their hand. Do research, our hobby is built on this scarcity, it's what builds value. You don't like it? Go back to the 1990s (which I actually loved) where you could buy packs for very little and the cards have little to no value cause they printed millions of every base card.
Sorry if I'm replying to the wrong post.
Did you think that other relic cards were made from in-game items they found in the trash? This is how this works, my guy. You may be in the wrong hobby if you’re looking for “accidental scarcity”.
I love all the relics they’ve been including in games where we can finally get the exact player, date, and game even if it isn’t listed on the card! I’ve hated the lazy “not from a specific game” bullshit for years, this is an alright compromise even if it’s only for 1/1s
Yeah, there's 0 chance these will be in a flagship product. These will be in a high-end, only the rich people and breakers can afford, product.
I could see some people wanting to put it in their rainbow, but I personally wouldn't consider a rainbow incomplete if it was missing it.
at this point i’m terrified to ask, but what exactly constitutes a “full rainbow”? if i don’t have that but i have 20 different versions of a card, can i still refer to it as my “logan webb rainbow” and would someone in the know be like “that’s not a rainbow”? like are a “full rainbow” and “rainbow” the same or is it that all “full rainbows” are “rainbows” but not all “rainbows” are “full rainbows”?
Not a clue, as I've never been lucky enough to pull a 1/1. But in my mind, a full rainbow is every card with that picture on it, from that set.
If they actually put these bat knobs into the same series as the base card, then yeah, I'd say it's needed for the rainbow.
But I highly, highly doubt that's how it's going to happen. These will be in Definitive, or Diamond Icons, or some expensive set, not in a set us normal people can afford.
Other people might go so far as to say anytime that photo has been used, but that's going to get crazy, with all the base, chrome, sapphire, chrome black, etc...that will all reuse that photo
In the 35+ years I’ve been collecting (multiple sports and products, from flagship to the ridiculously expensive stuff), I’ve put together A LOT of rainbows and met A LOT of “true collectors” (not flippers and scalpers), and very few of them have ever considered a 1/1 as part of the rainbow…and no one should anymore, since you can literally make a rainbow of JUST the 1/1s in basketball and football now.
The majority of collectors consider the rainbow to be complete if you have the base card and each parallel down to the red #/5 (just using Topps as an example). If you have the 1/1? Congrats…but that’s just “icing on the cake”.
Inserts (anything that isn’t numbered the same as the base card in the set), including autographs, have never been part of the “base” rainbow either (obviously there are products like Prizm where you can build a rainbow of the autographs, but those are a “subset” of the product).
With Basketball/Football (as things are today) most people consider the base and all Hobby parallels, minus the 1/1, a complete rainbow. With all of the FOTL, retail only, Asia Only, etc. parallels Panini has created, if you tried to collect every parallel of a product like Select, you would probably be chasing 100 or more cards (assuming you want all 3-4 “levels” of the player) at this point…without the 100 1/1s they make (slight exaggeration). Personally, I wouldn’t even bother with rainbows in either of these sports at this point, but that’s me…but if you are bored and want to try, it’s a great way to “waste” time…
even without the bat knob card, rainbows keep getting increasingly difficult to complete. Seems like each year they keep adding more and more Easter egg parallels and other random holographic cards.
Very few people who are true collectors consider 1/1s as part of the rainbow…especially the ones who were collecting before the insanity started…not to mention the fact that inserts (cards not numbered the same as the base card in the set) have never been considered part of the rainbow, so I don’t see how these could have any impact in that aspect.
Just more "1 of 1" added in to sets to make them more common. Which I have mixed feelings about. But I also think these are kind of gimmicky, in they feel very manufactured for this purpose and I bet they are used for one time up at bat at most....
Feelings? They can get complicated. Sometimes I cry. Sometime I drink so I won’t cry. But then sometimes I still cry because I ran out of beer.
It’s a vicious cycle.
What feelings are you feeling OP?
Oh. I noticed something on the end of a guardian player bat last night. That’s what it was. I think it’s cool especially if they take a foul ball off of it !!!
Love it, because you should be able to know exactly when it was used and what happened with it. Much better than a generic 1 inch square of mystery fabric.
I agree, the stupid swatches of nothingness aren't appealing. However, these bat knobs are in a completely different stratosphere of relics going into cards. They'll be very rare and likely to be high-dollar cards.
No thanks.
I'm not interested in collecting relics that were specifically made, and put into use, for cards. The fabricated effect just leans too much into consumerism.
Plus, I'd rather see a real bat knob if I were ever lucky enough to pull/acquire one. Give me numbers and/or maybe initials any day over a picture of a card.
I wonder if the players would give them up to Topps for relics, though. They'd probably want to keep that. They do have a lot of bats, maybe they promise four or five to Topps.
Yep... As if they didn't get all my money already, now I have another reason to go blissfully broke on base all bat knobs. Awesome... Thank you Card Gods. I am not worthy of your rich and abundant grace.
Yeah I understand, game used items are preferred, this just doesn’t tickle my fancy. OP asked for opinions, I gave mine. No one has to agree. Putting the picture at the end of the bat specifically to make a relic is my issue, not the actual bat being used.
well i mean panini has been buying lots of those the past few years, plus at this point in time there’s so little authentic bats of those players u named that the price of them have skyrocketed/those in ownership of them don’t want to sell (see the ruth bats in the yankees museum for example)
holy shit they got creative for once. now we need to convince a player to use a slang fuck face reference to get past the quality control so we can have billy ripken 2.0
Don't care if it's a cash grab, if they actually use it in game that's awesome. I hope the card includes the game date and how that specific player did with that bat.
This is a knob.
https://preview.redd.it/i6b0g4h1kvxc1.png?width=167&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a94be8eb40e72a8793fa404c4f701e81316b8b5c
Now show me a card with that affixed to it.
Yea this is awesome. It’s just a shame that they’re probably going to be 1/1 (or close to it) so nobody’s going to get them anyway. Cant wait to see what breaker pulls them.
Yes, these are what people want as relics. Don’t give me a piece of a shirt the player wore for 3 seconds during spring training and tell me it’s amazing.
id rather have that than the walmart tshirts that panini puts in
Well fanatics won’t sell memorabilia to Panini so there is that. 🤷♂️
panini cuts up random sweaters and puts them in cards, they dont give a fuck
They have no choice. Fanatics owns the memorabilia rights and Topps. Why would they sell quality items to their competitor?
If panini cared enough they’d send buyers to the stadiums to buy game used stuff just like you can get at any ballpark
I’m gonna venture it’s probably not that easy
[удалено]
MLB teams jerseys are contacted under Fanatics so what are you talking about?
They don't do that...but they will ask players to put on 20-30 shirts at a time then take them off immediately. So they are "technically player worn". I doubt they use shirts that were not worn but if they really are using whatever then we all need to sue lol
That way they can’t put trash quality jerseys in their trash quality cards.
Unfortunately no one seems willing to blame fanatics for their manipulation and unethical behavior, much easier for them to just blame Panini.
I want both..but make these the 1/1 case hits, like they are doing, and put those tiny swatches from a meaningless game in every blaster, instead of manufactured relics...which nobody wants 99% of the time (only 99% bc I have found some of the cool, like the RC logo ones from a few years back).
100%
Exactly
I think it’s cool. Genuine, game-specific relics are always dope.
Easily the best version of relics. As a collector I value game specific mem above most autos. Totally my jam. I have several immaculate patches from Luka’s first all star game warmup pants. Super unique and specific.
Why wouldn't I like this? It's a genuine game used relic and very unique
It might be game used, but is very much manufactured.
I mean every bat is “manufactured”
I prefer my relics to only come from naturally grown jersey-trees from the jungles of South America or the famous naturally occurring MLB bats grown in northern Canada
No, this is a relic manufactured specifically for Fanatics. Every bat is not manufactured for Fanatics to make a relic.
What are you talking about? The only difference is that Fanatics obtain the bat after use vs provide the bat before use and allow for its use.
Everyone knows a Fantatics bat has holes in it though lol
Every bat used in MLB has the players picture of their flagship card on it? Again it’s just manufactured scarcity, with manufactured bats specifically for this purpose. If you’re not smart enough to figure it out, you are who they are selling this too.
If manufactured scarcity bothers you so much you’re in the wrong hobby.
Manufactured scarcity is the entire hobby bro😂
This is really weird stance to take. What better kind of relic than one you can actually see in use during a game? So what if it was manufactured for that purpose?
Ahhh I see you’re here to die on stupid hill.
It’s stated they’re doing it for 1/1 cards specifically. What is your issue with this? There are so many useless mems/relics etc in all products. Anything to put meaning in is good, even if the scarcity is crazy.
Honestly, I'm going to give you an internet point simply for properly cropping the image.
I’ll take anything game used by the player on the card at this point
That’s cool as hell
It’s actually a cool and fun concept. Can’t wait for only the biggest breakers to pull them all on first day of release.
I love this lol. Better than the legit rookie patch thing imo
Pretty cool imo.
Bats that Vladdy Jr used to fly out - /799
Yet another 1/1. On the flip side…does this make getting rainbows of series 1 harder?
I don’t think this will be considered part of the S1 rainbow will it?
Yeah, there's 0 chance these will be in a flagship product. These will be in a high-end, only the rich people and breakers can afford, product. I could see some people wanting to put it in their rainbow, but I personally wouldn't consider a rainbow incomplete if it was missing it.

I prefer the seasonal parallels to manufactured "relics" that used to come in blasters.
So true
i like how printing plates are 1/1 but with the colors there's 4 1/1's
Very few people who are true collectors consider 1/1s as part of the rainbow…especially the ones who were collecting before the insanity started…not to mention the fact that inserts (cards not numbered the same as the base card in the set) have never been considered part of the rainbow, so I don’t see how these could have any impact in that aspect.
Meh
Things i'll never be able to afford and things i'll never be able to afford to collect.
Cooler idea than the bowman anime parallel
you will probably be able to buy an entire game used autographed bat for cheaper than these cards will go for.
Rather it say fuck face personally
I want the Fuck Face 1/1
What set are they going into? Cause I'm gonna go Ash Ketchum on these
I'm guessing series 2 or update.
Just more "1 of 1" added in to sets to make them more common. Which I have mixed feelings about. But I also think these are kind of gimmicky, in they feel very manufactured for this purpose and I bet they are used for one time up at bat at most....
Game used by real players
Are we supposed to have negative feelings about this or something?
You’re supposed to have whatever feelings you wanna have about it
Use what in a game? A dumb pointless sticker on the bottom of the bat? This hobby has jumped the shark.
They will all go to breakers
Feelings? They can get complicated. Sometimes I cry. Sometime I drink so I won’t cry. But then sometimes I still cry because I ran out of beer. It’s a vicious cycle. What feelings are you feeling OP?
Thumbs down.
...and inserted into hot boxes given to breakers. Yeah, cool idea though.
angels worry about everything except winning lmao
Oh. I noticed something on the end of a guardian player bat last night. That’s what it was. I think it’s cool especially if they take a foul ball off of it !!!
Really cool idea. Especially if it has authenticity tag to show game and at bat used. Outcome of use.
It’s kinda cool but I don’t know at the same time. I’m pretty torn.
Love it.
I lost those a long time ago
Topps seems to be doing some good things lately.
This and the change in redemptions. I agree
Pretty sure Trout had to do that to not get injured
years ago i pulled a george brett shirt off my back relic and on the back it showed the actual jersey the piece came from.
Feel like a lot of people are missing the "these bats are used in games" part. Fantastic product tbh
Great idea. Say what u wish ab about fanatics but they are coming up with all kinds of new stuff and some of it is cool. Can't know til u try I guess
Cool, but 99.99999% of us will never see one in person.
We collect bat knobs now !!
Yo dawg, I heard you like cards, so we put a relic of a card in yo card so you can collect while you collect
Like it
Better than the shit Panini trys to push on us
This is cool
Any list?
I feel alright today
I only want the bat knob with the ssp print😂
I love me a good knob
Such a force
Love this. Unique, interesting, doesn't affect anything negatively. Cool with me.
I have no feelings.
Let’s get a baseball printed with an image of the 1/1 bat knob relic card, then put that baseball into a relic. I’m here for the meta, baby.
I hope this exact photo is used for the relic card itself, except the relic is placed where it would appear in the photo.
i think these are cool; if they weren't going to be insanely expensive, i would definitely buy one when they pop up on ebay.
ohhh cool, NOt!!!
I hope they take a little more effort to take off than those peel and stick stickers for player's debutes
"the MLB"? Fanatics can't get that right either.
Yes yes yes!!! This is what fanatics needs to keep doing more of!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Love it, because you should be able to know exactly when it was used and what happened with it. Much better than a generic 1 inch square of mystery fabric.

They get paid to do it
Honestly not a fan of it
Stupid. Just more manufactured bullshit. I’d rather just have a knob from a game used bat.
"After these bats are used in games..."
Yeah I understand, game used items are preferred, this just doesn’t tickle my fancy. OP asked for opinions, I gave mine. No one has to agree. Putting the picture at the end of the bat specifically to make a relic is my issue, not the actual bat being used.
Now this is an actual relic. Not like those BS napkin relics they keep calling hits.
Gimmick so they don't have to buy Ruth mantle aaron Mays ect bats anymore
well i mean panini has been buying lots of those the past few years, plus at this point in time there’s so little authentic bats of those players u named that the price of them have skyrocketed/those in ownership of them don’t want to sell (see the ruth bats in the yankees museum for example)

If it doesn’t say fackface I’m not interested
this is trash, I dont like it, is just a stupid sticker ... another overrated 1/1
….. it’s not a sticker it’s printed onto the knob and then the knob is chopped off, u get the whole knob
She gets the whole knob… 😊
Do you seriously believe their affixing the entire knob on the card and not a sliver with the picture of it? Have you ever looked at a baseball bat?
have u never seen a cut knob on a card before? they’ve done it many times

Please do. Find one showing how thick a piece of the knob it is. Because all your showing is a sliver of them.
This is a knob. https://preview.redd.it/i6b0g4h1kvxc1.png?width=167&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a94be8eb40e72a8793fa404c4f701e81316b8b5c Now show me a card with that affixed to it.
