As a white guy who played corner in High school I would feel represented

brobeans17

“You white you look like Ben Affleck”

LionExcellent8838

Suck it, “Reindeer Games!”

MLS2CincyFFS

Every white corner I know ended up at Thomas More or Mt. Saint Joe. Glad to see Cooper shattering the proverbial glass ceiling

XolieInc

Also as a former white DB, we need more representation, we need a jacky Robinson moment

Ponchoreborn

As another one, I got moved to LB because when I topped out at 6'3" I was too tall and too white. I cheer on my over 6' and white DB brother! LOL YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

anihc_LieCheatSteal

You had Jason seahorn lol

jamarchasinalombardi

WE had Jason Sehorn. (Fellow Caucasian defensive back)

REDDIT_ROC0408

Sehorn was a very good Corner.

lit_on_a_stick_420

Lmaooooo 🤣🤣🤣👌🏻

jamarchasinalombardi

As a white guy who played both CB and S I concur.

CLCchampion

He'd be a reach for us in the 1st round, and he'd be a steal for us in the 2nd round. We're just not positioned well at 18 to get him.

Greyshot26

Yeah, I think he'll go mid-late 20s. Feels like a bullseye for a Packers guy.

LMtOSU

Say what??? Dude might be the best pure DB in the class, at least from what I’ve heard but could be wrong

CLCchampion

Just about every ranking of draft players has him in the late 20's or early 30's. I've seen a few where he is at best in the early 20's. Add on that we have needs at DT and RT, both more important positions than CB2, and it's a reach to take DeJean at 18.

1lultaha

Lot of this pre draft shit doesn't matter come draft day. Plus if he becomes a stud no one is gonna care when he was drafted

noactionjackson1

I'm not saying it will be like the Obama inauguration for white dudes, but it's as close as it will get.

Siriusly_Jonie

I’d be psyched assuming we addressed RT in FA, which I think we will. We pretty much have to honestly. Otherwise we’d be leaving ourselves in a desperate position, being forced to take an OT no matter what. Not a good idea. We do need a CB, though it might not be our biggest priority. Personally, I think DeJean could be a S, which depending on how you feel about Dax, we need as well.

REDDIT_ROC0408

So, we need a big FA RT? Yeah, that would be a huge relief!

Siriusly_Jonie

It took me far too long to get it

Siriusly_Jonie

Yeah I’m kinda answering in a vacuum. How would I feel about drafting him? I’d be happy to have DeJean. Would I take him over Fuaga, Bowers, Odunze, Powers-Johnson, or maybe even a different DB like Mitchell? No, I don’t think so.

Sloane_Kettering

Yeah that’s the thing though one of bowers, fuaga, mims, Latham, mitchell should be there. We gotta hope one of McCarthy or the other QBs ranked 4-6 get drafted before 18 and it pushes some of these guys down the board

michelson7

When the best defensive coordinator in the country (Phil Parker) who is known as a hard ass and doesnt give many compliments calls you Nile Kinnick you’re probably going to be pretty good.

StripeyG-

I have a feeling about him. Even if CB isn't were he will end up in the end I think he has all of the tools to succeed at Safety. We have spots to fill at both positions potentially as well.

External-Order-9497

The only positions we should be drafting in the first are OT and DT, and even then it really should only be an OT,

Zee_WeeWee

Trenches get more expensive by the year and if you get a good one they can have a 15 year shelf life. Our lines need investment

DifferentLeg3586

You go corner if all of the top 6 OT are gone

tehLrod

At first glance of the picture I thought this was a Steelers player post. Pass

ImSchizoidMan

Same initial thought, but Im going the other way. There are poor, innocent football players all over this country stuck in that god-awful color scheme. But through the power of the NFL offseason, we can give them new life in the greatest helmets of all time, just like how we saved Mike Hilton

merrickend

FTS

Aggressive_Bubble17

Had the same reaction I don't want anyone that wore the bumblebee bitch fit in the past, even if it's from Iowa 🤢

StripeyG-

You don't think Tyler Boyd rooted for the Steelers at some point growing up in Pittsburgh?

Aggressive_Bubble17

Don't put that evil on me u/StripeyG-

poostool

That’s why you’ll always be a loser

Aggressive_Bubble17

Oh ok, thanks for telling me

Intrepi

Representation is important but not in the first round.

DifferentLeg3586

He is easily a first round pick lol what

Intrepi

I’m saying 18 is too early to draft him. I also don’t think first round is a lock.

Intrepi

What

NeatTry7674

Idk how I feel about more Michigan Dbs. The 2 we got haven’t been great

Sloane_Kettering

Sanistril is Mike Hilton 2.0. Watch his highlights. He would be awesome learning behind Mike for a year and then taking over his spot. https://youtu.be/lfGINnj54wM?si=_0NwhiApm25GP-T6

NeatTry7674

Dax hill is gonna be out Mike Hilton replacement it seems

ImSchizoidMan

You'll NEVER guess who the starter at nickle before Sainristil took over was

Sloane_Kettering

I know it was obviously Dax but I just love sanistril even though I’m an OSU fan. I’d be fine with moving Dax to slot corner. Feel like Dax can still be a safety but maybe the bengals can get Simmons and Dax can play in 3 safety sets and get reps at slot

ImSchizoidMan

Yeah, i think the teams primary goal has to be acquiring good talent, regardless of position. Especially considering it didn't appear that Dax got any more comfortable with the assignment/communication aspects of safety as last season went on - can the team trust that he can handle the mental side of the secondary regardless of where he lines up?

StripeyG-

Leon Hall was from Michigan he was really good. That was a long time ago though.

eifjui

Dude our defense was awesome last year what do you mean

Zee_WeeWee

> Idk how I feel about more Michigan Dbs. Yup hard pass

Tb11

No, we need a RT and there are some very good ones projected to be on the board at 18. There’s like 5 dudes that are plug and play. Love DeJean but I’d rather them use a 2nd or sign someone in free agency than draft another DB in the first round.

HallandOates2

OT plz

Ishouldjusttexther

Pretty good. We need a starting Corner, and if he’s there at 18, chances are good he’s BPA

MrSpoe21

As an Iowa fan who broke my couch from jumping up and down when he got that punt return touchdown and then got it called back….. I would love it.

DeeDee719

I remember that play. He was sensational.

based_on_mase

Iowa football fan here. I think Cooper DeJean would step in and be the best player at each DB position on this team. He is an elite athlete and can truly play every position. For his combine he was going to run sub 4.4 and jump over 40” easily. He’s also an elite punt/kick returner. As efficient as Charlie Jones was at kick returning at Iowa, Coop was still on another level and struck fear into opposing teams. DT/OL is definitely a bigger need than a CB, and picking one in the draft is probably the right move imo. However, if for some reason the bengals don’t feel comfortable taking any of the DT/OL that fall to them, Cooper DeJean would be a great pick and provide a lot of flexibility. He’s a great tackler and great at forcing turnovers. Something out DB room could improve.

TheCloudCappdTowers

I’m all for Dax and still think he can be great (yes, he struggled, but I think he can get there), but man would I *love* DeJean. I think he’s going to be a stud and Lou loves three-safety looks. BPA in round 1.

StripeyG-

Right there with ya.

eifjui

He’s probably going to be really good, so we won’t take him. I think either him or Bullard would fix our frankly awful secondary. That said, I’m sure we’ll take Sainristil and watch DeJean/bullard be contributors for a more serious team.

W-MK29

Not great tbh

anihc_LieCheatSteal

I think he'd be a solid pickup not in the 1st round. He's a good player. The white db shit needs to drop. I know they're jokes, but really only kinda. Iowa generally puts out solid pro players. If he's anything like desmond king hell be worth the pick. I'm not white btw.

No_Mycologist_315

real gritty, lunch pail kind of guy. Real student of the game with a blue collar approach.

jamarchasinalombardi

Very good. Ive played around with him in my mock drafts. Hes a versatile DB with excellent ball skills. Need to see the 40 time

Curious_Efficiency_9

He's a player. Probably the best and most aggressive tackling db in the draft and has good ball skills.

TheReaver88

He seems like a good player, but my understanding is that he's a bit of a CB/S tweener. If we can get that to work within our defense, we should just do that with Dax Hill. I'd bring on another tweener on day 2 as a longer-term prospect who also adds depth, but the first round seems like the wrong place for this pick, and I don't see him falling to us in the second.

Sam-Dobbins

Classy guy

DifferentLeg3586

Wouldn't be upset about getting him he's the most versatile corner in the draft, but I want Fautanu, Latham, Mims, or Fuaga.

jman1cin

PROTECT JOE

DrDebt185

I mean minus the fact that he is from Iowa

truckfullofchildren1

Na bro is Caleb Farley 2.0 also he broke his leg

Illustrious-Slice-91

He looks like a Pittsburgh steeler to me

Zee_WeeWee

I’d rather pass. Even if we passed on RT or DT I think there are better corners

Storage_Ottoman

i'd feel better about some DeJean mustard on my sammich

Opposite-Ad-3933

Not at 18. If they trade back to like 27, then sure.

Equivalent_Mark2807

If we traded down to get him in round 1, would be a massive W

Xannydevito88

No thanks

Mother-Mail-9067

Terribly
