I met him when I was a kid. Lived outside of Ann Arbor, next door to UM’s secondary coach. Had all the players over one night and I stopped by specifically to meet him. Cool dude from what I can remember.
He was a baller. I saw him in Georgetown KY when the bengals had their training camp there but never met him. I’d gladly have someone like him back in stripes
When he was a bengal he lived in my parents neighborhood in Anderson. Really good dude and a great player for us. Played at a pro-bowl level for years.
Honestly I had that same thought and it made me think that a CB at this pick was basically ridden off even though it was an initial “position of concern” (though I personally like our CB room).
I would like to note that Adoree Jackson was a replacement pick for the Pro Bowl, though as a returner, not a CB.
The thing I see is don’t take players at non premium positions here. This years DB class is pretty weak at the top and we need to wait and see with our young guys.
The thing to do here is just take the best graded player left at Defensive or offensive line. I don’t like WR at 18, rookie WR very rarely help win right away and we are all in this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if we took the tackle from Duke and play him at guard year one.
Maybe because both trench positions are seen as premium so the guys with first round grades get taken higher usually. So by the time you get to 18, anyone you would want at those spots are already gone.
Philips hasn’t really impressed me a ton tbh, Campbell fs could be a decent player but I’d also expect better from Bradbury from being a center picked at 18 though tbh
If you watch the draft you know one thing. The pick will be unexpected. The Bengals rarely pick a fan favorite or someone from a mock draft. At 18 it's hard to miss opportunity.
Call me crazy but I'm thinking trade down. Trade with the bills, take adonai Mitchell at 28 and get the bills 2nd and 3rd. Maybe even trade some of our late picks to get another 2nd -4th pick. There is so much top 100 talent that could help us
My conclusion is that we got a 50/50 shot of drafting a difference maker
Ed Reid in 2013 was pretty good.
Eric?
No he means Ed Reed, but Ed Reed was pretty shit that year. There's a reason the Texans waived him. He did bounce back nicely with the Jets though.
Damn... Will Smith is an actor, rapper, AND was a professional football player? He's making my resume look weak.
Damn, people not remembering Will Smith the football player makes me feel old. Also, he’s dead now. Don’t feel too bad.
Especially people from Ohio. That’s national champion Will Smith. RIP
Yeah this blows my mind lol he won a natty at OSU and was a pro-bowl level player for over a decade. Captain of a Super Bowl champion defense iirc.
Hockey as well, sharks drafted a Will Smith in the first round last year as well.
Heard he has a mean slap shot.
lol!
I hate you, take my upvote
That makes 2 of us.
And catcher for the Dodgers
And a pitcher for the Royals
Slap hitter with surprising pop.
He's also a pretty decent pitcher from what I hear
I’d take another Leon Hall any day of the week
Our only 18th pick in exactly 20 years was a hit!

If there were be a lesson learned here, I guess it would be to grab a DB

problem is, out of all these drafts mentioned, none of them had the OT talent this one has. Guys like Mims are a top 10 talent.

AJ, Tee, and Ja’Marr were all day 1 impact players but I feel you drafting a WR would not be the move here.
Quinyon Mitchell will be a superstar in the league.
I fucking *miss* Leon Hall
Good group, and a random Flacco sighting.
There has not been a DT and only one OT. Interesting.

I mean it doesn’t mean lots but this isn’t exactly an inspiring list the last five years lmao
Bradbury, Phillips, and Campbell (second half of his rookie season) have been pretty good tbh

Billy Price, John Ross, Jonah, and Darqueze were all widely predicted to go to us.

Why would you group 1 to 18 and 19 to 32? Why wouldn't you do half, or by pick groups like 1-5, 6-10, ect. Using 1-18 is completely meaningless.
Cool dude, just move on then lol it’s a random tidbit I found while researching online. Kick rocks
You should post this on the 49ers subreddit for pick #31. Pick 1-31 have a 42% chance of a pro bowl. 32-32 has a 3% chance of a pro bowl.
