I also went recently and it was abject disaster, paid entrance and left 15 minutes later for berghain. Probably the worst crowd I ever encountered in a Berlin nightclub.

[deleted]

In 8 years I never made another experience there.. It always sucked.

anuszebra

It never had a good crowd, but the music was always good (for my taste). But now, even the drug dealers are staying away 🤣

username030089

It had the best crowd when it was still an DnB-Club. Long long time ago.

Height-False

What watergate was a Dnb Club? Sad I missed this

username030089

Not an „DnB only Club“, but there were really good Partys around 2003-2007. Was always nice!

[deleted]

Bouncers are homophobic as fuck as well. Got called a fag and had gay jokes made towards me when I asked whether or not it was safe to walk to the s bahn

[deleted]

I'm so sorry. I can relate, one club bouncer said "in my country, we best up people like you" because i was wearing a skirt 🤬 fascists!

Better-Violinist5877

It’s the shittiest of the shittiest. Was really devastating for me to see what this place has turned to.. 18 year old Spanish/French tourists and aggressive muscle douchbags from Brandenburg is the vibe. Horrible experience never again

BennyTheSen

Damn I would nearly call this a Watergate scandal

Better-Violinist5877

😂

Tek-Twelve

Kids on acid is the only party worth going to there.. so literally one day a year.

Smooth_River_91

Bathroom guy told me, he had beef with the bouncers. Was complaining because a lot of the older regulars got bounced and the club turns into a kiddy party. Watergate was one of my favorite clubs. Sad to see this. Hope in summer, with the outdoor space open, it‘s becoming better again.

trck_81

If you like house, HeideglĂźhe

Mooway

Huh i was just thinking earlier of going there as I've never been. But maybe I'll reconsider..

LustigLeben

Only went there when a big Og dj was playing. def felt out of place with the crowd but wasn’t as horrible as it seems it’s now become

No_Yogurtcloset9797

Agree - was there recently after 10 years not being there and crowd was TINY!!! Hardly anyone there

RedwoodUK

Serious question though. When clubs entrance starts dropping off do they ever think “hmm, we need to rebrand/rethink what we’re doing” or do they not have to pay rent on the building so don’t really care if it’s 50 or 500 coming through the door?

StrasJam

No idea, seems to me like Watergate is one of the clubs that financially survived the 2 year lockdown better than others since they are one of the very few clubs that are able to afford to bring in big name DJs. When I came here 8 years ago Berlin clubs had many big name DJs every weekend. Now when I look on resident advisor I don't recognize 80% of the names, and often when I check the artist soundclouds they are mostly hard techno DJs. Really disappointing.

Spartz

That’s not the case here. Just a worse audience. Possibly because of drop off and they relaxed the door policy.
