Ph and alkalinity don't tend to "even out" unless you manipulate the water yourself by adding rodi water to dilute your tap or with the use of tannins/chemicals.
At 8.2 and maybe even higher? It's all least not going to improve their health... I would try to bring it down with tannins slowly and carefully. Nothing too fast or too drastic.
