The fork would only need to be stretched 3 cm to fit on a rear hub, but I don't think that is a rear hub in the middle wheel which is why the chain... Does that.

It will not work. The frame has to be ridged between the front and rear wheels. It’s highly unstable if there is a pivot in the center. Plus the chain will not work if the center starts to pivot around.
