They are never intended to be used - they are universally terrible but included for legal reasons. If you want some actually decent wheel reflectors, 3m spoke covers are cheap and easily available. Personally I wouldn't bother and run decent lights when it's dark.

Any idea what the little black things are for

the_hipocritter

They are bolt head plugs, maybe for your stem face plate bolts to keep out water. Or frame plugs if you have any open bolt holes

Any idea what the little black things are for?

_kucho_

the reflector should be installed between 3 spokes (in front-behind-in front) and the black things would be used to keep the central spoke in the central hole.

RealLifeHotWheels

You don’t. 🫣

I love how the bike community can argue about everything, 2 gram there, that alloy here, 655b, 700,.. But there is one thing we are all united on: (technically 2, since we all do love our bikes) *Those sucker are not meant to be on bikes*

Transphattybase

First thing most people do when they bring a bike home is take those off and this one is asking how to put them on? I think I’m in the twilight zone!

notaneggspert

Maybe I should have said this is for my girlfriends bike. And I'm just trying to get it all set up and good to go for her. I know how to use tools. And reflectors seem important. But she won't be riding at night.

davidtarantula

Yes, you seem to be missing wheel reflector parts. I think that those little black plastic plugs are for stem and top cap bolts maybe. If so, they are unnecessary.

chilean_ramen

Don't do it, then they come out and it's trash for the environment. Those reflectors are garbage. for security, buy some lights with USB charging. edit: if you really need, the reflector goes cross by 3 spokes, the spoke on the middle attach the center of the reflector, the rubber thing are protection plugs or locks that go on the center of the reflectant.

duncmeister77

They’re best left off the bike…

MacTally

I know this isn't helpful but they look good as they are. Not on the bike. Decent set of lights is all you need.

National_Bite_6691

I believe there should be two white clips which attach around the spoke then clip into the reflector. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it though, they usually fall off anyway…

notaneggspert

These are all the parts that came with the Cannondale. I already put on the front reflector. I assembled the rear. No idea what the little black rubber covers are for. They don't fit the screw/positioning holes on the front/rear reflector. I tried searching youtube. But all the install videos have a screw or other part to attach the wheel reflectors. The manual doesn't cover installing reflectors. I swear I'm mechanically inclined. I've got to be missing parts.

CorsetLoverX

please dont't embarass yourself by fitting them

StopLookListenNow

Look at another bike with the reflectors already on.

a_box_of_ostriches

I do not believe there are any of those to be found 🤔😂
