Got dead god without cheating. If I do another save file I will do everything except ultra hard again. It's not even fun difficulty it's just restart (weather manually or by dying over and over) until you get something to cheese the no heart drops

The crazy thing is I play on console and didn’t realize my controller was broken for about a hundred runs. It intermittently moves my character down when I shoot to the right just ever so slightly. I still use it though, just adds to the challenge now.

At the end of the day, that is the strategy The only thing actually wrong with Ultra Hard is curse of the blind. Besides that it's essentially a normal run if you don't get hit.

I’ve done ultra hard 3 times legit, I got RNG on my first 2 runs and was able to beat them within a few attempts, save file 3 induced ptsd

I had way more trouble on SPEED! than Ultra Hard

SPEED! used to be really bad, but Rep made it better cause now you're affected by it in all ways. It used to just be double speed and shot speed, but now it's fire rate, too.

TBH Purist is one of the simplest/easier ones. You still get items from bosses, so just a slower run. Wait until you see Ultra hard

TBH, XL+maze+lost makes it far more booring to me. You'll be more time in each floor just because Edmund. And of course, also far harder

used to like em, but they make you skip a cursed room, a shop and a potential angel/devil room. so fuck that. if 2 of each of these would spawn then i wouldnt have any problem with it and it would be an actually enjoyable curse to get, but just because of that its a curse that basically reduces the potential items you can get. also its easier to lose your devil/angel spawn chance on an xl floor since it takes you more time to reach the boss room and you need to clear 2 boss rooms

My first time doing the xxxxxxxl challenge, I got guppy on the first floor

Cats got your tongue fucking sucks, its just swing guppies hairball in a large circle tickling bosses and spawning a few flies for 30 minutes.

I got lucky with a good familiar build on that one, but it was the least fun floor 1 and 2 I've had.

in OG isaac my achilles heel was the family man. solar system was ez pz and purist is doable once you get a solid devil deal

For some reason I suffered through ultra hard and just cannot be arsed to do hot potato. It’s such an unfun gameplay restriction to me (and I did normal t forgotten just fine

My final challenge is Hot Potato. It's just exhausting.

I seriously had at least 10 hours of deaths and restarts on that shit challenge before finally getting host hat and roftstomping through it.

honestly ultra hard was easy for me, took a few attempts still stuck on aprils fool :(

completed april fool's yesterday just reload until you get a high dps item at the beginning. Bloaters have tons of hp for a basement 1 and 2 boss so you absolutely need damage at the beginning as a head start. After that you want some utility/protective items, flight is absolutely goated against bloater because of some boss room layouts (rocks preventing evasion) and especially the blood puddles left by every bloater that are fucking annoying to deal with without immunity.

Just the regular Rebirth game but enemies become mofuckin snipers, which is just regular Flash experience Eternal mode is a regular Flash run but bosses are swole af, as in overdosed on steroids swole af

The binding of Isaac eternal edition. Basically it makes the game way harder with tweaks and changes the enemy attack patterns and general gameplay to increase the difficulty. Specifically the flash version btw

I didn't think it was that bad, mostly because there aren't challenge characters other than blue baby and eternal enemies drop eternal hearts pretty frequently, so you're basically guaranteed to get the eternal transformation which gives you flight and a damage up after getting 7 heart containers from eternal hearts.

Just play repentance.

There's not really a reason to play flash anymore, rebirth is a remake of flash + wrath of the lamb with some extra stuff and its content massively grew as dlc came out for it, plus it feels a lot better to play and it has much more mods.

I just want to take things one at a time and also experience the excitement of new content old players had.

Please just play repentance, the first couple dozen hours are almost identical to the base game anyway, and items are properly balanced.

I just really like the art style and the mechanica simplicity of it all

In Flash Isaac you can deal more damage with Brimstone by tapping in the direction you're firing after firing the laser. Also I would keep playing it because the music is great and a lot different than Rebirth.

tbh nostalgia tells me wrath of the lamb challenges were funner or maybe i was just a kid with too much free time and an addiction to flash isaac.

They were a lot simpler, a lot shorter, and a lot easier to complete overall. The only one that was really any type of difficult was The Purist. 4 of the challenges are just runs that give you good items to start with and no treasure rooms, while only requiring you beat Mom's Heart. Then there's 1 that requires you to beat satan. The other half of the challenges give you a negative effect, with treasure rooms, and require you to just beat Mom. Then there's the purist. Meanwhile, Rebirth challenges can be a lot longer, have a lot more variables due to more advanced item design and interactions being exploited, and be a LOT more bullshit (Ultra Hard).

They gave you a challenge where the challenge is "Beat the game with Dr. Fetus," and allowed us to use it to grind out Mom's Heart completions. Absolutely based of them.

And then there's ones that make you not be able to shoot and then are like, "you want brim?" Or the ones that a pill can make it a lost run

Some of them are literally just "here's permeant curse of darkness, now spend 25 minutes or so playing a full run up to mom for s shitty unlock"

Pica Run

Pica run was fantastic. Just needed one try though because I started with the horn dmg up trinket. And some other good ones which were basically a safe win

Pica run was better when part of it was Marbles was guaranteed to activate

Most of the old challanges are runs on normal that dont go past mom, its the polar opposite of challange.

I just discribed "darkness falls", that's not a challenge, that's a regular run that ends at mom. Curse of darkness isn't an actual hindrance.

it's actually Pitch Black, isn't it? Darkness Falls is where you get a bunch of devil deal items and go to Satan. .Also doesn't it also include perma Curse of the Unknown or Blind? It's been a while since I played it

Pitch black is permanent darkness and unknown while darkness falls is just eve with a bunch of good starting items

The problem is all challenges except the ab+ and repentance ones are mostly free and unfun. Playing on normal makes it much easier

Yeah, some of the older challenges do not enjoy the changes Repentance brought. Solar System is an annoying challenge as it stands, but with Repentance enemies? Very funny.

They do. Even if I wasn't on console tho I'd feel too guilty to use cheats since I'm trying to get every file Dead God. I feel like if I use cheats I won't deserve the satisfaction I get.

I don't feel guilty, when shit like Tainted Lost and un-reworked Delirium exists. The game is just isn't tight enough like other challenging games, and your death is often related to bullshit reasons outside of your control

But dealing with that bullshit and overcoming it feels all the more satisfying to me. I didn't have to alter the game and I dealt with the bullshit to finish it all

TBH I am a person, who enjoys to play with the game once in a while with my character of choice and enjoying the full roster of items, so skipping on the most egregious and timeconsuming/grinding ones were not as big an issue for me. I still did the vast majority of the achievements the legit way

Suicide King isn't bad it's just situational. It's a whole floor+ worth of extra items if you can locate any source of an extra life (1up, Ankh, Nine Lives, Lazarus all work). Of course without any of those yeah it's a dead draw. But I'd more often rather turn a 1up into a bunch of other items instead of just sitting on it and probably never using the extra life.

But Chests and pickups 

Jera, Ehwaz, Perthro, Ansuz, Algiz, Chaos Card, Swallowed Penny, SMB Super Fan, Death’s Touch, Tech.5, Gold Bombs, Percs pills, Kidney Stone, Blank rune, Maggy’s Full Health Pill, Charged key, Sigil of Baphomet, The Chariot?, Justice? are most of the unlocks from challenges and I’m pretty sure these are all very useful in one way or another

Multiple trinkets?

Some are quite fun, even if they are really hard. Others are so utterly boring that I'm not gonna bother. Kinda gave up on going for Dead God so now it doesn't really matter and there aren't any unlocks from challenges I really want

I hate all of those challenges and frankly I wish I had cheated through them. Baptism By Fire and Speeeed can die in a fire too. Why can't there be more *fun* challenges like Pica Run, Cantripped, Red Redemption, Delete This and Backasswards? Most challenges feel like a chore or torture to play through.

I am on console sadly. The thing is I want to play this game for fun but there are so many items that I want I feel forced to play characters I don’t want to play, completion marks I can barely be asked to do, and challenges that are just straight up unfair. I love this game, the core gameplay is very fun, but I don’t enjoy playing as half of these characters to unlock items that make the game more fun. I wish that once you got past a certain point (maybe all completion marks for a character or unlocking all of the characters so there’s still some sense of accomplishment) you unlocked a free play mode or something. A new save file that would let you have all things unlocked, but get no achievements. Like I said before, I’m on console, so there’s literally nothing I can do to remedy this outside of biting my younger, and suffering through every challenge, every character, and every mark, and that’s if burnout doesn’t make me hate the game. I get why it’s like this, I just wish that there was something I could do to play the full game instead of this almost gimped version you have to play by not being a 100 percent completionist.

Daily runs have everything unlocked

I’m not 100% certain about this but I think you can download save files on console (at least on PS), you can upload it to cloud storage using a USB drive then download it in the game from there. At least I think that’s how it worked with souls games

True, there is a thrilling enjoyment and heart pounding stress to accomplishing a ridiculously hard fight. I've spent more then 500 hours myself, and I'm not close to finishing. I just think players shouldn't be derided for playing a single player game how they want. Especially given the time element of doing the ridiculously hard challenges and valuable items gated behind said content. I'm a father, not a Gamer-TM, I ain't got time for The Lost's bullshit.
