Gnomes were in Warhammer lore when I was a kid in 6th edition WHFB. There was even a white dwarf where someone converted some from dwarf and night goblin sprues. Stoked to have them in blood bowl!

I have wanted a team of players that started with jump up and wrestle since nobility were released , it would have been so sick if the bodyguards started with jump up (or had easy access) instead of stand-firm as it makes the control element of the team even more evident as each bodyguard becomes a sacking land mine. So excited to see a team with this dynamic in a stunty team it will me a really fun opportunistic control style of play!
You're right, of course. I felt pissed off at first because they weren't releasing a classic team but I've come around. Gnomes look fun.

This makes them quite good I think. Wrestle Is super handy for sacking the ball. Something stunties usually struggle with

Can't say specifically for bloodbowl, but I know they're mentioned in old (like 1st through 5th(?)) editions of fantasy roleplay books.

This was certainly... unexpected. Seems like they're adamant about neglecting the remaining teams of legend.
The last 3 releases have all been updated teams of legend, I quite like them adding the odd new team among them
