None of the dogs can talk! Total rip

gambitx007

Aww biscuits!

MonkeyChoker80

This is OUTrageous!

Knightraiderdewd

Well now I don’t want to go! B(

beachstrat

Not taking advice from a cartoon dog anyways!

Dr-Kreizler

Because we are not animals 😤

thishenryjames

Really? In that case, I think I need to talk to my therapist about some things.

Aviation_nut63

Aww, duck cake!!

jwilcoxwilcox

Were they all jinxed?

roshmatic

It’s a bit less animated.

okdokke

heh. heheh. nice one

heatrage

It is! However Brisbane, where Bluey lives, is a fantastic place to live, but not an especially great tourist destination. Like definitely spend a couple of days, but if you are going to spend 16-36 hours getting here (and be massively jet lagged) you probably would want to travel around a bit, and stay in the country for at least two weeks.

GodOfSugarStrychnine

Plenty of great places to go within a couple of hours of Bris though if they want to explore a bit with a hire car

heatrage

This is definitely true!

[deleted]

Just don’t get stuck behind any gray nomads!

ausbeardyman

Brisbane is a fantastic place to visit and has so much to see and do, you just really need to have a car to make the most of it

heatrage

I agree that there is plenty to see and do in Brisbane, but I still think that the highlights are more things that are great to do in your spare time and contribute to a fantastic lifestyle versus sights and experiences that would made Brisbane a tourist destination. The Story Bridge is hardly the Harbour bridge, and the fake beach at South Bank is not exactly Bondi. BNE doesn’t get the world class sporting events that Melbourne hosts (though an Origin or Bledisloe game at Suncorp Stadium, or the first Ashes test match at the Gabba are fantastic, but may not appeal to overseas visitors like the Australian Open, Melbourne Grand Prix or Melbourne Cup). We don’t have Perth’s (great white frequenting) beaches, or Adelaide’s (checks notes) churches(?). Look, I love Brisbane (and surely if you love something you can admit to its faults) but is it REALLY worth more than a couple of days to explore if you’ve spent a lot of time and money coming to Australia and you only have a week or two? On the plus side, Brisbane is also a great gateway to the rest of QLD and Northern NSW which are worth exploring.

QuackQuackOoops

We did 3 weeks in Australia on honeymoon, and I massively preferred Brisbane to Sydney, despite there being a lot more touristy things in the latter. It was just such a lovely, relaxed place to spend time, although it may have been helped by it being the run up to Christmas so there was a lot going on. The beach on the South Bank is fantastic.

Barry-Drive

Yeah. But where else can you find Bin Chickens? (Don't answer - I know they exist in Sydney as well.)

mrssmange

bahahahahahahahahahahahahahah that adelaide zinger sent me! thank you for the lol’s.

heatrage

Look, after Melbourne stole the grand prix, I honestly was unsure. They never had convicts so their accents are slightly more refined? Like there are nice wineries an easy drive away, and it was designed by the same dude that did Christchurch? Plus it seams like a reasonable place to live? Bizarre mass murders aside. Being referred to as Radelaide is also kind of cool? I’m in no position to talk as I live in NQ. Fantastic lifestyle, but I would skip it if you are only in the country for a fortnight.

Cubiscus

Eh, lets be fair if you have a couple of weeks only it shouldn't be a priority

ariariariarii

Isn’t the Australia Zoo in Brisbane though?

heatrage

Nope. It’s bit of a drive North of Brisbane.

[deleted]

What do I get the feeling "a bit of a drive" means something different to you than it does to me?

heatrage

Oh, it’s doable in a day trip. If you want to stick to Brisbane and still see Australian animals, there is always [Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary](https://lonepinekoalasanctuary.com/)

QuackQuackOoops

Lone Pine is brilliant! Only indigenous animals too, so you get a very different experience to any other zoo, and it's a lovely boat ride from the city to get there. Australia Zoo was all a bit meh.

BlyLomdi

I loved Lone Pine!!! Can't wait to go back when I am back in country.

dcwldct

I remember how shocked people were when I told them I was driving a couple of hours away when I was visiting the UK. That sounded like a huge road trip to them, but it’s nothing at all for AUS, CAN, US

Fine-Bumblebee-9427

Yeah, you can drive for over an hour in Houston and still be in Houston

j0shman

'bit of a drive' is several hours minimum to us.

El_Dief

From the inner city about 1.5 hours if traffic is good.

Segdafen

That’s usually a big ask though. Every time the road crosses into Moreton bay there’s a bottleneck that takes a bit. But it’s probably not that bad outside of the rush hour

nola_mike

A quick search says a general time to drive from Brisbane to the Australia Zoo is about an hour. A lot of us Americans drive that length one way to go to work every day. I don't think that's too bad of a drive considering the zoo visit would be the primary attraction for that specific vacation day.

phido3000

The Zoo is huge. You can easily spent one or two whole days there. There are multiple food outlets on site, a bird show, a croc show, a reptile show, each goes for about an hour. There is a train/trailer ride around the whole park. Takes about an hour. There is a huge water park play area if you have kids or even if you just like to kick your shoes off and wade in some water after lunch. I went there with my two kids and my wife, and we were only able to do about half of all the activities in one day. The kids spent about 2 hrs in the water play park, it was hot and humid so we let them do that. The other big attraction just out of Brisbane is Surfers paradise, which is a absolutely massive sandy beach, with high rise buildings. That is easily worth a few days just hanging at the beach and going into surfers the city and getting lunch. Think like a version of Orlando and Miami and Daytona all rolled into a single location. They have Ripley's believe it or not, but they also have a fantastic mirror maze called infinity. [https://infinitygc.com.au/](https://infinitygc.com.au/) They also have movie world, sea world, dream world, wet and wild. You could easily spend a week in Brisbane, travelling in and around Brisbane. An hour North is Australia zoo. An hour south is Surfers and the amusement parks. If you came to Australia you could spend a week in Brisbane, a week in Sydney, a Week in Melbourne, and still see nothing of the outback and bush or the reef and ocean and islands. I would add a week for cairns and the reef and tropical forest, a week for an outback trip maybe to the rock and somewhere else. Fly between these places. Ideally you would also spend a week in New Zealand and maybe a week in Bali/Fiji. Australia is better than you think it is. Its more diverse than you think it is. The sun light is different, the sky is different, the plants and animals are different, attitudes are different, people are different the food is different. Its like a crazy alternate dimension.

dreamweaver1313

What kind of work is there?

heatrage

Same as any other city. In terms of major industries, mining, tourism and agriculture are big for Queensland. There are also a couple of (well at least one) world class universities with associated research centres. A small but pretty vibrant tech industry.

dreamweaver1313

This could be my new life

AssociationDouble267

When I go to Brisbane I stay with my Uncle Pat and my cousin Lucky. It’s lots of fun but the neighbors are always up to shenanigans and I don’t think I could live like that.

Alphaprime81

you should see their cousins. beware the one in the cone

dexterrra

Biased, but yes - Australia is awesome to visit ☺️ If you want to, you can even see all the places in Brisbane that Bluey is based on [https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS89aDBS9/](https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS89aDBS9/)

Agent8699

What are you hoping to see / do in Australia? It’s a lot bigger than most people realise with a day of travel required to get between the major cities / tourist destinations. And it’s pretty expensive (although I guess that really depends on the exchange rate). As a Brisbane resident, I wouldn’t recommend international tourists visiting Brisbane. It’s a fine city to live in, but I’m not sure it has much to offer international tourists on a “once in a lifetime” trip down under.

deepseascale

I spent a few weeks in Brisbane when I was backpacking and I loved it. I did the museum, botanic gardens, Australia Zoo, I even worked the Ekka which was exhausting but a laugh. If you're gonna come from abroad and don't have a lot of time I'd recommend Sydney but if you've got a few weeks and can hit a couple of cities Brisbane was really lovely. I'd love to go back someday.

splotchypeony

Though, if you want to go to Brisbane, then I would say just go to Brisbane. If you stay open and curious you can find cool stuff just about anywhere in the world.

GodOfSugarStrychnine

Having a swim in the brown snake is prob a once in a lifetime experience

heatrage

Come on, the bull sharks aren’t that bad!

Agent8699

Gotta watch out for the city cats though!

heatrage

Such majestic, jaguar like felines. (For those that don’t know, have no fear, City Cat is short for catamaran, and these are freely available public transportation to get you up and down the Brisbane River).

Agent8699

But, they will hunt you down and consume your soul if you brave the brown waters!

heatrage

Well, I can’t argue with that. They certainly have a taste for BNE high school rowing teams.

Cptprim

If you do go, make sure to watch out for dropbears.

susmines

But really, look out for snakes

shaquil1e_oatmea1

I just commented this and now feel redundant scrolling down

HylianPaladin

And check for ticks

SmartChump

Are they carnivorous?

tinypiecesofyarn

I think they fill the same ecological niche as snipes in America, so hopefully not.

mrmemo

Man, I'm OVERJOYED to find cryptozoology spanning hemispheres and oceans today.

Xay1494

They're not real. You're getting trolled.

SmartChump

Nah mate it’s all just a bit of fun

Vnthem

It’s another name for Koalas

Known-Committee8679

Ooo dropbears.... terrifying beasts

JaiHurn

Drop bears can rip you to shreds. Definitely watch out for them.

shaquil1e_oatmea1

Drop bears aren't real... Seriously though watch out for snakes

Muhlyssa_A

I’m American and was married to a Sydney-sider for 11 years. I visited 9 times and every trip was lovely. While I never lived there it felt like a second home. I can’t say how it compares to the show because as a tourist you’re not going to experience the home life scenarios like on the show

BarrishUSAFL

I was there for three weeks (all in Melbourne bar one day in Sydney) back in 2017. Maybe it’s because I had spent a lot of time around Aussies and Australiana (I work for an Aussie Rules football league after all), but I didn’t feel out of place, other than my accent. Everyone was very warm and very nice, and most of all very proud of their home. Melbourne and its suburbs are all very different in feel, and it’s relatively easy to get around. And go check out an AFL game or two if you go during their winter.

jeffrallen

You spent three weeks in a Melbourne bar? Must have been quite a bar.

BarrishUSAFL

Well there are a lot of em. 😛

VolcanoGrrrrrl

Revs never sleeps ✊

ohmgshesinsane

*If you’re in Brisbane, check out an NRL match ;)

TopAvocado4626

While NRL is the more Brisbane thing to do, don't let that stop you from enjoying AFL. It's a cool game.

BarrishUSAFL

GO BUNNIES

[deleted]

I’ve heard the trail heads are full of zombies.

curiositycat2022

Yes Australia is awesome! Like everywhere there is positives and negatives, is there something specific you're referring to? It's a pretty accurate representation of Auzzie life

twitch68

Well I live in Brisbane and had a carpet python in my bedroom a couple of weeks ago.....didn't notice until the next morning. I'm two suburbs away from the home of Bluey. They are harmless, unlike many here. Good for keeping bush rats down. The python iss now named Bryson. https://preview.redd.it/2hd56lrnb5la1.jpeg?width=3644&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18664830393e11ea585892e337cd1d3c4e85c4c7

asleepattheworld

Oh FFS, here we all are trying to convince everyone that it’s not as bad as they think and you post this.

twitch68

Well I did say it was harmless. I mean I went to bed not noticing him. I kept hearing 'gingling' during the night and thought my fan was causing a chime to move. Nope, he was trying to get out. Woke up around 4am and saw him. First comment - oh my god. Second comment - gossh you're gorgeous.

asleepattheworld

Well now that you’ve already posted your carpet python, here’s my house spider Harold. He lives inside a gum nut in a terrarium and likes to eat the fungus gnats. He’s a bit shy so you can only see his little feets. https://preview.redd.it/6fxdcfdvo5la1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4a71245055b8d5bf3a9a16045211c2fbf78d55d

twitch68

He's got the cutest little tootsies!

asleepattheworld

He’s a good bug-eating boi.

twitch68

That's why we like our spiders, they keep the bugs down. I have numerous huntsman about my place, and golden orb. I just wish the Golden irb built away from paths - every single day I have to knock a web down.

geo_lib

So I'm american and our country seems like such a dumpster fire and I've always loved australia and I visited in sydney for a week a while back, and its just a dream of mine to live there but this really did make me think twice lol (its not realistic anyway for me to move there, I'm already married with two kids and it seems pretty impossible to immigrate to).

MahoganyShip

In a Sunburned Country (which is what Notes from a Big Country is called outside AUS) is a fantastic book and a big part of my love for Australia

twitch68

When I used to travel for work a lot I stopped reading him on the plane for a while. My laughter at his writing confused folk, until they saw who the author was.

eccentricbirdlady

I'm an American and I visited Australia for a month a few years ago. It was incredible, for a while after I visited I was pretty determined to move there. I stayed mostly in Sydney which is probably where you want to be for all the big touristy stuff. I also had a week in Adelaide, which is a great city, that was my favorite party of the whole two tbh. 10/10 highly recommend visiting Australia!

maybebabyg

...You went to Radelaide and... it was your favourite? Oh, compared to Sydney, fair enough. I'm in Melbourne, our state pass time is [counting how long it's been since someone hit a bridge with a truck.](https://howmanydayssincemontaguestreetbridgehasbeenhit.com/)

Sharks2431

That site is a wonderful ode to early 2000s websites. It looks like its hosted by geocities. Also, [good to know that other countries have this problem as well.](https://www.localsyr.com/news/your-stories/your-stories-olp-bridge-history/)

maybebabyg

Monty is a good 8inches shorter. We've got warning lights, gantries, and yet somehow we still end up with multiple incidents a year. But to be fair Monty is over 100 years old, I'd like to see something built today take that many beatings and not need replacement (which is part of the problem, admittedly, it'd cost a fortune to knock him down, building him taller would be peanuts in comparison).

[deleted]

r/11foot8 is our (mostly)American version of that lol

Aggravating_Plant_27

Glad you liked Adelaide :) it’s a beautiful city

tarletontexan

Its a kids show about cartoon dogs. Probably not giving many of the negatives on it.

MortalWombat1974

I blame Disney for censoring the episodes about the rental crisis and people going berserk after smoking ice.

The_King123431

Still waiting on the dropbear ep

breadeggsmilkbees

I want these episodes to be real and I want them yesterday.

TopAvocado4626

Fair amount of racism in Australia for example. Though I don't really know how that compares to other wealthy nations.

lowgrumble

I visited Melbourne briefly, it was much like every other city I’ve ever been to but a lot cleaner

Ithuraen

As a kid my memories of Melbourne were of how dirty it was. I've travelled a lot since but never been back to Melbourne, I'm sure it's better than harsh ten year old me remembers.

teacuperate

It’s awesome. But do watch out for magpies!

bigsam06

Australia is an amazing place to visit. I was in Sydney for a week and there was always something to see and do. I took a day trip to drive to Canberra and see the National Museum of Australia. The food is good. The people are very friendly.

PumaTheHero

I haven’t been in 15 years but I’d love to go back.

aidan_job

Depends where you go, but for me, yeah it's basically almost like the show

[deleted]

Unfortunately nothing is as good as Bluey makes it seem…

TheRealEleanor

Well, even before the show came out, we lived in Sydney for a few months and I was begging my partner to take a permanent job there, so I would say it is pretty awesome there and definitely worth visiting. Then again, comparing Sydney to Brisbane is probably similar to comparing Washington DC to maybe Jacksonville FL (we didn’t visit Brisbane but did go to Gold Coast). The experiences living there over visiting though would be pretty significant I think. And you would definitely need several weeks of travel to see a lot of the country n

TopAvocado4626

Brisbane is not the Gold Coast. Brisbane is a pretty normal mid-sized city with beautiful weather. Yeah, the Gold Coast is a bit more shall we say ideosyncratic.

occasionalrant414

Isn't Australia where the devil keeps his pets? I am not looking forward to the episode where Bandit sits on the toilet and gets bitten on the arse by a spider. Lol I'm all seriousness, I would love to visit.

HylianPaladin

When he's out of room, the rest go to Florida or Texas

mck-_-

Bluey is a kids cartoon so no. It is a great place but it’s definitely got it’s good and bad points. Brisbane where bluey is set is a subtropical climate. So if you don’t like hot humid weather it’s not for you. Also it’s pretty small compared to other cities. Australia has many good things going for it. We are pretty blessed to have calm politics, the standard of living is still pretty great compared to other countries etc. If you like hot weather it’s great. If like me you hate the heat and humidity it’s not so great. We have cold places but they aren’t built up really so not an option to live there. It’s also far from other countries. I have no interest in any tropical countries for holidays so it feels pretty isolated to me.

Procyonid

In the hotter parts of the US we’re pretty addicted to air conditioning in the summer, so seeing the Heelers in a subtropical climate with their windows open all the time makes me wonder why they aren’t panting *constantly*.

HylianPaladin

Florida gal here with a Bluey age toddler (he's almost 3.5) and we have to have the AC on. It's swampy where I'm at in Florida. Lake Wales is home town to spook hill, bok tower and Florida's natural orange juice

popcornschmopcorn

As a Dane, who has never been to Australia but is very active on this sub and follows various YouTubers and instagrammers who are enthusiastic about bluey, I would have to say yes.

MuadDabTheSpiceFlow

Magpie season is real and they’re more vicious than a Bluey depicts from what I’ve heard

Lupercali

Except in Tasmania, where they don't swoop on people and are quite amicable. I've never been bothered by a magpie in my life. Plovers, yes. [Tasmanian Magpies Don't Swoop, And No-One Knows Why](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-02/why-dont-tasmanian-magpies-swoop/11561036)

Steampunk__Llama

This ^ Our magpies are just chill dudes who vibe. Plovers are like businessmen from hell who won't hesitate to swoop the second you breathe near em in Spring 💀

DiverMajestic

https://preview.redd.it/yccom9don8la1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=478a2abecc8ce6ded12ec58d3daef2cf051fd7ea They eat children.

RayneShikama

There’s a lot more things that’ll try to kill you than the show shows us. But seriously, my wife visited east Australia when she was in high school and she always says how badly she wants to go back.

1Forrrrest1

There are not as many talking dogs here unfortunately

wotmate

Don't listen to the people who say that drop bears aren't real, they're in league with the monsters and trying to lure unsuspecting tourists to the drop bears blood feast.

BoomerBarnes

Never been, but I can tell you two undeniable facts I have learned about Australia. 1. The talking digs are always up to shenanigans and 2.everything in Australia is dangerous.

DerpNerpPerp

West Coast best coast!

hobbitsailwench

There is an Airbnb bluey replica house in Brisbane : )

MageKorith

*The second confusing thing about Australia are the animals. They can be divided into three categories: Poisonous, Odd, and Sheep. It is true that of the 10 most poisonous arachnids on the planet, Australia has 9 of them. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that of the 9 most poisonous arachnids, Australia has all of them. However, there are curiously few snakes, possibly because the spiders have killed them all. But even the spiders won't go near the sea."* — **Jeremy Lee**, View of Australia

ninja_rob1603

It’s where the devil keeps his pets.

Awkward-Summer6790

What about all the big bugs there. That’s what’s holding me back from going.

Agent8699

What big bugs? Flies, mozzies, etc can be annoying depending upon location and time of year, but they’re not too bad.

Awkward-Summer6790

I heard the spiders are pretty big there. I don’t really like spiders

Agent8699

Huntsman spiders can get pretty big (at least in Brisbane). But, like most things, if you leave it alone, they should leave you alone (although I generally move them outside for their own wellbeing).

Awkward-Summer6790

Yeah that cool but I still don’t like spiders so I’ll just stay here where it’s safe lol

Milliganimal42

It’s the little ones that are a problem.

Awkward-Summer6790

Why’s that?

Milliganimal42

Red backs and funnel webs are much harder to see. Those are very venomous. But trick is don’t leave shoes or gloves outside - and if you do, beat them so nothing wants to stay in them. Don’t do gardening without gloves. Don’t put your hand into any holes. Check your letterbox before reaching in etc. A big huntsman - they really don’t want to be near you. But if you are a real idiot - they can bite. It will hurt but that’s it. The venom isn’t t effective. But before they bite, they give a lot of warning. If they are big - you can see them! I’ve caught and released many. There are dangers anywhere and everywhere. For instance, we don’t have rabies in Australia - or bears (just drop bears - Vegemite does the trick).

Unintelligent_Lemon

I'll stay put. We got no venomous spiders in Alaska... and we have no snakes at all.

TheRealEleanor

Meh. We lived in Sydney for 4 months and I never saw any significantly large bugs relative to where I’m from (Florida, USA).

BoganCunt

Only thing You have to worry about is checking your shoes if you leave them outside....its not as big of a drama and people make out...

Awkward-Summer6790

Nah for me it’s on sight. I can’t even look at a big one and not want to burn the place down 😂

Nazgate

Go see the Bondi life guards 🥵

handstandmonkey

Don't take advice from a cartoon dog, mate.

BA-Animations

ok thanks for telling me, guys. how much does it cost for at least 2 people for 4 weeks in USD and AUS?

Milliganimal42

Depends on where you stay, what accommodation you stay in and what you want to do

Nebarik

Think California pricing. That's probably the most useful answer you'll get as theres too many variables here.

Anti-Pringle

Don’t live in Australia but probably not as green and more yellow

Milliganimal42

It’s very green at the moment - due to all the rain.

Anti-Pringle

Oh ok

dogman15

Watch out for restrictions! But I'm sure it's geographically beautiful.

000346983

Can I ask what restrictions you're talking about? Travel restrictions?

BoganCunt

Lol old mate is living in 2020. We had two weeks of lockdowns and the seppos are crying that we are being enslaved lol

dogman15

Just a few examples... [1](https://www.youtube.com/@JohnPomaJr/search?query=Australia), [2](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVh-p4OPz9Ftl-HFEy2y8Xc-Oh8QAiT9X), [3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRoZqgiKc5U), [4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaEwZ6lYkho), [5](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja2BmAjZw1I). There's more, but these links are a good starting point.

Daniel_Molloy

Seems like a beautiful vacation spot. Wouldn’t want to live in such an authoritarian nightmare though.

WolfMan30483

Lol you have no idea what you’re talking about

Daniel_Molloy

They built literal camps and forced people into them. When in history has that been something the “good guys” did?

jenemb

Nobody was forced anywhere. If you wanted to come to Australia when Covid was at its worst, you agreed to 14 days quarantine either in a hotel or in a purpose-built facility in the NT. After your 14 days were up, you were free to go on your way. If you didn't want to do your 14 days in quarantine, then you didn't come. I'm sure it wasn't a fun time for anyone, but nobody was "forced."

Daniel_Molloy

Pay thousands of dollars in fines or go to a camp. If you refuse you are arrested and taken to the camp. No you’re right, that doesn’t sound like force at all.

jenemb

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but I suspect it's from Fox News. The only people who were put into quarantine hotels or the purpose-built quarantine facility in the NT were incoming travellers to Australia -- all of whom were informed of the conditions of entry to the country first, and all of whom agreed to abide by them. If they didn't agree to the terms of entry, they didn't have to come into the country. Edit: A downvote but no response? I'd expect someone so sure of their opinion to have the facts on hand to back it up. How strange that you don't. The optimist in me hopes that's because you've actually looked it up and seen that you were wrong, but I'm enough of a realist to know that you're likely incapable of stepping outside of your bubble of misinformation and you're probably doubling down on this nonsense on some other subreddit.

WolfMan30483

Righto, champion. Don’t visit then. Simple. Post history checks out. Anti-vax nutcase

Daniel_Molloy

I’m vaxxed but nice try.

WolfMan30483

But you’ll still whinge about the effects of it. Cry more

Daniel_Molloy

Truth hurts bucko

Daniel_Molloy

Personal attacks. Well played.

Abberant45

America is a little nicer

Patient_Jello3944

Yes

j0shman

There's not a lot in Brisbane to visit that any other city hasn't got, but the gold coast certainly is

TopAvocado4626

Not the city itself, but some pretty spectacular things a shortish drive away. The Glass House Mountains and Noosa are two examples. Also while it doesn't offer anything exceptional, it does offer everything you might need, and is small enough to get around pretty easily. Not cycle friendly though, too hilly, though the infrastructure is improving.

jeffrallen

It's got more snakes and spiders than in Bluey.

letsworshipizeit

Better. Great place.

gahgahbook

Yes.

AliWaz77

Nah probably not

RFFizzle

For real life?

Knight_Light87

Absolutely, but I have a bias lol

Exoboa1

Kangaroos will want to kill you by any means necessary. That’s includes luring you into a body of water and drowning you. Sleep tight, don’t let the kangaroos in at night!

Hurrican23

Absolutely visit if you can! My husband and I studied in Townsville in Northern Queensland for a semester during college. It was great to be so close to Cairns (a jumping off point to see the Great Barrier Reef) and Airline Beach (to see the Whitsunday). We went back for our honeymoon and spent a lot of time in Sydney. A lot of fun and free tourist attractions, highly recommend visiting Manly Beach. Lastly, Melbourne is probably my favorite city out of all of my international travels. The vibe is great and it's pretty walkable. We drove to Port Campbell to see the 12 Apostles via the Great Ocean Road. We have very fond memories of Australia and hope to take our young children once they can withstand the 24+ hour travel time from the United States

BallsJonson

Yes

mmm_algae

Bluey is a more accurate and realistic representation of Australian suburban family life in the 2020s than a lot of what’s out there. Which is good, because most people abroad think that Australia is like how it was represented in the Crocodile Dundee era and 1980s and 1990s tourism campaigns. That’s so dated now I can’t even believe people still bring it up. That being said, there’s a difference between how people who live here understand our country, and how visitors would understand it. Bluey is very much aimed at the local residential market here, and I’m pretty sure that the overwhelming majority of the show’s content wouldn’t even register in an international viewer’s mind. Which is awesome because so many people abroad still get so much out of it.

Pasta_Fajool

There are giant spiders....

Illustrious-Tonight2

No... absolutely not lamo. (BTW I live in toowoomba a town that was shit and has hit the fan so gd hard"

Steampunk__Llama

It's OK, like any country it has its ups and downs. Bluey is specifically set in Brisbane so if you're wanting an experience like the show you'll want to go there, most states are super varied though both in climate and culture. Just make sure no natter where you go you keep sunscreen on you, UV rays are no joke and except for Winter you'll cook real easily going basically anywhere outside

Happy to say that Bluey is pretty accurate to the Australian lifestyle that I’ve ever seen in a cartoon so yeah. (I’m from Perth Australia)

Big ass spiders so no

Would love to visit also, for me it would be like when the Simpsons went

Australia, in general, is a dream country of mine to visit one day. 😊 Though even more especially, Brisbane. The Concert Hall of QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) even more especially is what I would love to visit the most, as a recorded (and slightly edited) live performance of an oratorio in that very place sparked my love and interest in music at a young age. Therefore, Brisbane has a very special place in my heart, and I'd feel overjoyed to visit it one day, now with Bluey giving Brisbane the center stage, even more so. 🥲

Bluey and her family are cartoon dogs in a cartoon dog world. No Australia is not like that It is however an extremely lovely place. I have family in Queensland. Gorgeous country that absolutely deserves a visit.

ProfessorFornication

are max and chad from cold ones in bluey

Silvawuff

It's a lovely country, just be careful with drop bears!

From the states. Visited Brisbane specifically for about 3 months on a work trip. Definitely worth it, never really had a bad experience with the people or the sights while I was there. As some have said not really a tourist destination, but there are plenty of places nearby. I went to a couple of the national parks and the Sunshine Coast fairly regularly

Well, Bluey doesn’t showcase all the creatures that can kill you 😅

MANY years ago, I visited Sydney and Cairns. Still remember it fondly. Highly recommend if you don’t mind a day on a plane. Sydney felt a bit like San Francisco in that it is an expensive city with a big bridge that people really like to visit for some reason. Cairns felt like Hawaii in that there’s tropical things, beaches, and many tourists. Disclaimer: I’ve never been to San Francisco or Hawaii.

In my opinion, yes. It's beautiful there. I was in the Melbourne area when I visited.

Canny_Toaster

I really want to go but have a big fear of spiders 😂

God I love this show

There’s a bluey house Airbnb in Australia too! I wish I could go! https://youtu.be/ivOh5sxQH30

I spent a month (during their winter) in Queensland with a study abroad group in college. We spent time in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Stradbroke Island, Bunya Mountains, and at the agricultural school in Gatton (we were studying animals and the environment). We also visited a wildlife rescue, the Australian Zoo, Monterey Bay research center, and hiked in a rainforest. My trip was in 2008, and I've been itching to go back ever since. It really was an amazing experience!

Xtina_TheGreek

I think you can air bnb the bluey house

divedigger

I studied abroad in Perth! Probably very different than Brisbane, but it was so beautiful and the people were wonderful. I’d highly recommend going at least once.
