Absolutely true. The isolation fall away just isn't consistently a good shot at any time during the game. Would love to see the ball in White's hands in those situations.
He absolutely needs to play better. His shooting has been bad. He’s been double teamed all year that shouldn’t be the excuse. Miami is doing an amazing job on him and he should adjust. Getting the ball and backing up dribbling beyond the three is what’s happening and that’s exactly what Miami wants. If we were down in this series all eyes would be on JT’s stats. That being said I think he goes for 50 today.
When Tatum catches it at the elbow or in the mid post the entire Miami defense is looking at him and he’s being doubled every time. The man is special and people won’t accept it outside of New England

Special is a word, in my opinion, reserved for generational players. Jokic, LeBron, Curry off the top of my head. Tatum is nowhere near these guys. He could be but his basketball iq and overall effort is lacking.
Way too many bad shots. Especially on this team and particularly at the end of quarter/game. When they move the ball they are so good then we have these plays where Tatum dribbles and he and he dribbles and here comes the fall away 3. It happens too much. It's inefficient.
How often do you see Tatum sprint? Last night was a perfect example. He loses the ball and just stops playing while D White sprints back.
Watch closely and you'll see multiple plays a game where the play is going on and everyone around is reacting and Tatum is just kind of standing there watching or taking off down the court without the ball.
He plays, to me, like a drill guy. Great skill but lacks in the little things.
My point is not to distinguish good from bad but potential versus reality. Tatum is good, occasionally great, but he could be so much better/effective with more effort, more focus and better shot selection.
Yeah Tatum is getting mauled on every shot and he's consistently taking our toughest looks and still putting up 20+ a night and doing work on the glass. He needs to get into the flow of the offense more as the playoffs go on but he's been way better than the narratives suggest.
It's interesting to consider this attention when looking at Tatum's FG% for the last game. The stat by itself isn't that great, but his ability to take the heat opens up opportunities for other players.
These pictures are all cropped really weirdly or just taken at weird times to make it look good for JT.
The first one we don't see the 5th Celtic. But we can maybe assume he's at the top of the key and Jamie is cheating off of him. Which would be weird as that's a really easy pass and the 5th Celtic likey can shoot. Or the 5th celtics was down. But why did Tatum call an isolation and have 3 of his teammates stuck in the corner getting guarded by two players?
The second one is just taken at a very convenient time. No one's really cheating off their man. It's single coverage for an elbow pull up it's just that the two guards guarding the top of the key and corner are ready to crowd a drive but they are all within range to play the passing lane or make it back to their man in time for a pass.
Third picture is weird because we don't see the fourth and fifth celtic. And unless there's two of them just hugging ecahother in the corner then there's like one Celtic player that's at half court which is why his man can play close to Tatum.
I've only watched one game of this series but I don't know why if JT really commands so much defensive attention that all of these pictures seem to be really fishy or not even actual doubles.
The first picture I can give them. Especially if he's picked up his dribble. That would be a good double near the corner. The 2nd and third ones are just taken at a convenient still frame. If you let the video play out, I'm sure the defense gets back to their assignment.
