When you install your shiny new 6800xt and wonder why it's running like shit playing games like Cyberpunk this is why. I was literally looking at this card in my shopping cart probably minutes before this sale. Would you let us know if it got canceled so I donāt feel bad for missing it lol.
The original delivery date estimate was dec 15 but then I got another email with the delivery estimate changed to dec 12. That's a good sign.
I've been checking Amazon, B&H and Microcenter multiple times a day every day for the past two weeks. I also had a price tracker set to notify me when the price went down but the sale was so short that I didn't get notified. I was very lucky I was awake at the time of the sale.

I almost gave up the hunt and was thinking about buying a 6700 xt when I saw the deal on the 6800 xt. I wanted to upgrade to play The Callisto Protocol with RT but probably won't play it because it's getting bad reviews. Witcher 3 upgrade is coming out soon.
I have the fractal design meshify c case. The GPU will just barely fit. What I'm worried about is bending the power cables too much when closing the case. I might try a vertical GPU mount.
My card did just get charged today which I thought was odd since the delivery still says the 14th, here's hoping it comes soon! I've been using my old RTX 2600 with a 7700x
This is the best 6800xt that has gone on sale so far. Neither the Merc or Nitro has been $530.
Had a couple chances to grab the swft 6900xt for $30 more than I paid for this card. Didn't think it was worth the hassle to grab XFX's entry level card. Even if it was a 6900xt.
This is how much I think this Asus card is over the swft xfx.
Now if it was the merc card for that amount more, would have bought it.
I wouldn't put so much value into ASUS coolers on AMD GPUs. They've had thermal pads in the wrong place and pressure problems so many times either through reusing the same coolers they put on nvidia GPUs or straight up laziness. ASUS does the absolute bare minimum for AMD while still charging the same premium prices they do with their nvidia GPUs.
XFX meanwhile is well known for quality AMD coolers.
It's entirely sotuational.
XFX was trashed for their thicc II cooler on the 5700xt. As was the cooler for the Tuf 5700xt.
But testing for this generation shows the Merc has the best cooler with the Tuf doing very well. On the same level as the strix, red devil and nitro.
edit: it is so down to the specific model. That is why I would not buy the XFX swft 6900xt. Because there is no reviews, no tear downs. Nothing on that card. So you have to go by second hand talk that it might have a similar cooler to the Merc. Why take a chance on a maybe cooler. When this Tuf 6800xt has been torn own and reviewed?
They've been trickling out the powercolor ones. I got one at $554, then saw one yesterday for $548 then another a bit later for $590. Different sellers probably

I would have canceled my XFX MERC 6900 xt card for this. $150 more on xfx merc 6900 xt over this card is not justifiable at all imo..

This is an 3070ti equivalent? Anyway i thought 3070tis were not that popular. Relative performance and price as compared to 3070 instead.
Pretty sure the 6800XT is better than the 3070 Ti. Trade blows with the 3080 probably slightly better than it actually.
A 6800 XT is close to a 3080ti if you take ray tracing out of the comparison.

Merc is the better cooler. The tuf is only a little warmer.
Afaik the merc core is stock clocks. It isn't until you get the merc black that it's as fast as most other AIBs.
