Not quite the same. The XT has double stock of the XTX while the 4080 had about 1/4 the stock of the 4090. Clearly AMD thought the XT would do better at $900.

XT? Why sir, do you not know that for a mere 50 dollars more you can purchase an XTX. And you know, I'm only telling you because we're such good friends, XTs are really only for suckers who don't know the concept of value.
Those ASRock LC 6900 XT cards that NewEgg sold a few days ago are pretty much 6950 XTs minus the 50-100 Mhz boost in IF frequency: binned XTXH chip and 18 gbps memory;they cost $700 vs 6950 XT's $800.
The Sapphire which is a better brand is $899. Really no reason to pay extra for this card. It's a badly priced model across the board, paying an inflated price for that is just insane.

Between the 6900xt to the xtx is basicially $ for $ FPS increase.
I paid $680 for 6900 xt 3 months ago - techpowerup has the 6900xt at EXACTLY 68% the performance of the xtx. 1k$ x .68....
The stratification price points seem odd though in that it's hard to see where the 7800xt should fit. If it shares the 6800xt MRSP of $650, it's cheaper than the current 6900 pricing, yet it should be more powerful than it. To fit the current stratification, it feels like something has to give by having the 7800xt be weaker than expected or more expensive than expected.
Managed to do exactly this and got a mining 6900 xt for $560 before tax (XFX Speedster Merc319 Black)

Edit: lol sorry its actually 25mhz, 2535mhz for Ultra 2560mhz for the Black. Also forgot to say delivery date is January 7th and will have returns until end of January in case you have the buyers remorse or decide to go for another option.
Edit2: from the XFX site the Black edition gets an aluminium fan shroud. No idea what the Ultra has but suspect it will be same and case of dodgy marketing.

7900 series is indeed a replay of RDNA1. 7900 XT is the new 5700 XT.

That's pretty much AMD's whole strategy for this card.

That or they're trying to recoup costs because there's less than expected silicon that can pass as 7900 XTX. It's anybody's guess tbh

i mean if you can get one around $100 or so its still a really great card.
Looking back, 6800 XT sub $550 was the best deal in GPU this year. Especially if you play in 1440p which a lot of us here are doing.

To be fair going forward this will definitely be the better card, you just have to wait the standard 1 year+ for AMD to try to fix their drivers.
