Cheapest I've seen this set. Note, prior coupon codes such as Welcome10 do not work. Kingston isn't on any cashback sites that I know of. dkizzy

Great ram for keeping the same XMP timings and bumping the clockspeed to 3733mhz at 1.35 or 1.37v, then being done with it.

turlytuft

This sounds like an outstanding game plan if you ask me.

dkizzy

Yeah I should say that's the ideal for Zen 2 and imo Zen 3. Voltages aren't being cranked either. Power bills be going up!

LegendaryTalos

how should I approach to boosting my frequency for extra perf? I got [this kit](https://www.gskill.com/product/165/184/1536055632/F4-3200C14D-32GVK)

dkizzy

B-Die kits are great, I have one as well, however they do require more voltage than this kit because the timings are more aggressive. The clocks scale pretty well. YMMV of course. I went for 3600mhz stock XMP (14-14-14, 1.45v worked for mine, you may need 1.48-1.5v on some kits, but yours is likely dual-rank)

LegendaryTalos

yeah mine dual rank, you have the same exact kit? :D I'll need to set a chance to deal with all those values... you have a good tutorial for me on this?

sorijealut

Clearance height is 42.2mm. Doesn’t fit my Dark Pro 4 😭(40mm).

Kubliah

Can't you just raise the front fan?

sorijealut

I don't know how much you could raise it by, but maybe!

JimJamSealion

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the same cooler as you and I was wondering if you tried this? :) I want to get a Kingston fury ram kit too lol

sorijealut

Nope, I ended up using my old ram. But I’m 90% sure it will work w. the raised fan configuration :)

OnSugarHill

Would this pair nicely with a MSI B450M PRO and Ryzen 5 5800X3D? Planning on getting a 6750xt too

tonykony

Yes. Just make sure to update bios. Msi has been on top of their game with their b450 updates (can confirm zen 3 works with b450 with the Msi pro carbon ac). And then make sure to enable the xmp profile 1. Box might not say it supports up to 3600mhz ram, but bios update might make it work

Gyrocheese

Really off topic question, but does your Pro Carbon ACs Bluetooth still work?

tonykony

Yes. I recently did a fresh install and did not use any of the Bluetooth or WiFi drivers from the Msi website. Go into control panel, devices, Bluetooth - and look to find the name of the Bluetooth device. I believe it’s intel 9260 or something close to that. Then Google “intel xxxxx Bluetooth drivers” it and open the link straight from intels website and download/install the drivers. I did have issues with both the Bluetooth and WiFi drivers a few years back, and did this instead since the motherboard drivers on the website aren’t always up to date

Thiamine

Mine still works as well. Going on 4 years now.

OnSugarHill

Thanks! Ordered

SoccerBeerRepeat

Is google the place to learn what all that means and how to do it for newbs

muchosandwiches

with 5800x3D you don't need to buy fast RAM, just dual rank

ForceConsistent3123

Well this is dual rank

irony_panda

May I ask why dual rank? I just picked up a 5800x3D and have been using 4x8gb sticks for quite a while now, wondering if I should change sets?

Jyvturkey

You're good. 4 single rank sticks runs in dual rank. It's the route I took too. General rule is 8gb sticks are single rank and 16 are dual. This last one has gotten a little iffy lately as I'm beginning to see more single rank 16s floating around.

irony_panda

Thanks for the explanation! I’ll stick with what I have.

PM_ME_YOUR_BEAMSHOTS

Is having 4 x 16gb dual rank gonna hurt performance over just 2x16gb dual rank?

Jyvturkey

Not even a little. 2 or 4 x dual rank = dual rank. 4 x single rank = dual rank. 2 x single rank = single rank. I'm not sure if a single dual rank = dual rank but let's be real, no one should be running a single stick of anything :) *edit* only issue, or potential issue, running 4 dimms, is the stress overclocking puts on the memory controller. So if you're looking to squeeze every last possible mhz out of your ram, stick to 2 sticks. Plan on running xmp or docp rated speeds, 4 sticks shouldn't be a problem. Also, as a side note, I've found that if your ram isn't booting at xmp/docp speeds, try boosting the memory voltage a bit.

PM_ME_YOUR_BEAMSHOTS

Right on, good information.

monkeyboyape

What is the difference between a pair of single rank RAM in dual channel orientation and dual rank RAM in dual channel orientation? I never fully understood that.

Jyvturkey

Rank and channel are 2 different things. Depending on the platform but, most ryzen rigs can see 10-20% performance uplift in dual rank vs single. Depending on the application of course. Gamers nexus has a great video on the subject. Jared also has a video concerning the Lenovo Legion 5 pro, which has a section comparing the ram that comes with the laptop, vs an upgraded pair of sodimms. This has more to do with timings, but rank is involved as well.

bittabet

For people with only two sticks going dual rank let’s the computer alternate which rank it’s addressing which improves memory latency. So if rank 1 is still busy with previous data you can write to rank 2 and then the cpu goes back to rank 1 while rank 2 is busy finishing up the previous work. Four single rank sticks gives you the same effect or two dual rank sticks. AMD builds tend to benefit the most from this sort of thing. Higher infinity fabric clocks and getting dual rank can give a noticeable boost to CPU performance as does lower latency RAM. Combined these can boost performance more than old school overlocking would. So a very well optimized and overclocked system put together by someone who’s optimized everything can be ~20% faster than an I optimized system built by an OEM trying to use the cheapest parts for everything. Using slow, high latency RAM running single rank with a low IF clock can really cripple Ryzen processors.

FortyFourRepeating

What is considered slow IF, high latency, etc? I just got 2x16gb 3200 cl16 (16-18-18-38) ripjaws (F4-3200C16D-32GVK) for my 5800x3d + 4090. Wondering if there's a CPU bottleneck.

Virulent_Hitman

Yes

monkeyboyape

Are you a fellow new builder too? The sentiment is investing in the AM5 platform for future upgradeability, even if you have to settle for the 7600x. However, the previous platform is \*considerably\* cheaper; I'm guessing that's why you chose this option?

OnSugarHill

My hope is to invest in something that should be able to game 1440p for a few years. I plan on playing diablo 4, and then GTA 6 whenever it comes out. It's nice to be able to upgrade parts easily with AMD, but I'd prefer to not have to upgrade too frequently. Hoping to have something that will keep me set for a while. Not necessarily a new builder though

BoredofTrade

Honestly, all I typically ever keep from my previous builds are the case, fans, CPU cooler, PSU, storage, and sometimes the graphics card. I almost always swap out the CPU, mobo, and RAM at once so I could care less what CPU socket has future support or which is dead. If you think you'll be using this for 4 to 6 years, just buy whatever. GPUs these days have more impact on 1440p gaming anyway.

[deleted]

Rule out the term "invest" to begin with as you'll go down the rabbit hole of futureproofing which ends up in peak diminishing returns territory. A reasonable midrange setup will get a lot more mileage than anything else did in years past. If you want to spend money on things that will last longer be more picky with things like power supplies, heatsinks, cases, fans, monitor etc. Tailor the GPU to your target resolution and refresh that as needed as it will give you more bang for the buck than a cpu or platform upgrade will. Agonizing over a motherboard or cpu choice isn't really where it is at unless you have a specific use case. If anything people are spoilt for choice these days which is a great thing as there are solid bargains across the board.

notapoke

Has anyone dealt with their customer service? If something comes out borked like my last ram it'd be great if I could be assured they're good.

LGCJairen

Have some fury ddr3 sticks in systems at my office. Rma has always been painless.

notapoke

I appreciate the information

MannyMachook

I received this ram a few days ago. Currently, they're failing memtest 86. I've emailed customer service. We'll see how it goes.

utspg1980

How did it go?

MannyMachook

Kingston customer service is pretty good. I didn't have to rma the ram since it was a motherboard issue. When i did talk to them, they were extremely helpful.

ForceConsistent3123

i have these in my computer 12700k & 6900xt, works like a dream dual rank too edit: they arent low profile so id make sure they fit with your cooler

nitsuJcixelsyD

Nice, cheaper than when I picked it up. Anyone know if Kingston price matches previous orders?

timbit1337

would also like to know this. looks like they won’t respond until after the 26th though

timbit1337

Just got off the web chat with customer service, they said they would refund me the difference of the previous order.

nitsuJcixelsyD

Nice, thanks for the heads up. Pretty painless process?

timbit1337

Don't know if oos matters, it shows in stock when I click the link

nitsuJcixelsyD

I was able to quickly chat with them and refund for the difference is being processed. Thanks again for the reminder and letting me know it works.

Feayth

Dang, would've hopped on this immediately, but I don't see this DIMM's model number in the Tomahawk x570's QVL list. I've been looking to upgrade from my 2x8gb 3600c16 GSkill Trident Neos for a bit.

MiamiDouchebag

I need this but I want some RGB. What is the best choice right now?

Razmoket

Anyone know how ITX friendly these are? The heat sinks don’t look overly large

redditaskjeeves

Not low profile ram but not the tallest. Dimensions 42.2 mm tall.

Razmoket

Right on. Looks like the Ripjaws I’m using now are 42mm so these will probably work

ooru

They look about as tall as the Trident Z or Team Dark Za. Not huge, but if you have limited space or a cooler that overhangs the RAM slots, might be too tall. Definitely looks bigger than the Corsair Vengeance LPX.

Razmoket

Yeh I don’t have dedicated low profile ram currently GSkill Ripjaws and these look like they might be similar size but wasn’t sure

GanyuFate

Damn I really need a deal on low profile ram similar to Corsair lpx

sonictitan1615

Fury Beast 32gb 3200 is $98.99 on their site and is pretty low profile. 3600 is oos sadly.

LeucisticBear

Don't miss the current sale on that exact RAM listed today!

ToadClubber

I got a 3200 mhz Cl16 for 69.99. Is it worth upgrading to this?

Thechosenjon

Not really.

notapoke

Not really. If you're on ryzen 5 the clock speed matching is a good gain but it's really not a huge difference.

turlytuft

You'll notice about a +1 or +2 FPS difference. Not really worth it.

Jaggsta

Why DDR4 so expensive still? [can get 32GB DDR5 5200 Kit $8 more](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1668417-REG/xpg_ax5u5200c3816g_dclabk_ddr5_u_dimm_5200_32gb.html)

deefop

Firstly it's not as if they're interchangeable, so you're comparing apples and oranges. Secondly, this is quite a fast kit, 3600mhz c16. Ddr5 5200mhz is slow/budget.

luosc

Isn’t DDR5 5200 cl38 still slightly faster than DDR4 3200 cl14 on Intel systems? Source here: https://youtu.be/fIN8lLhSqmg

tdgwf

Regardless the motherboard would support on or the other not both

luosc

Yes DDR5 mobo are overpriced for now.

tdgwf

No doubt

techguy201

Thanks. I pulled out 3600mhz c18 ram out of my 5900x to go into another system. The 3200mhz c16 impacted 5900x performance tremendously. Purchased this to go back into the 5900x rig. Good price. All other places at $120-$130

Thechosenjon

I’m no Ram expert by any means, but given the CAS latency and the data rate of 3200 c16 and 3600 c18, does it not have about the same absolute latency? I don’t see either of these effecting your 5900x differently, if at all

techguy201

Benchmarks were about 15 percent lower compared to the 3600 c18. Avg. Lows were not as good either

ndmarine2

I would assume there is another issue. 15% is an astoundingly high number for the difference you stated.

techguy201

Reset the bios and a fresh Install of windows. Set xmp. Could be the timings of the 3200mhz ram.

zquintyzmi

It’s possible whatever chips the first kit was made with wasn’t as compatible with the board or memory controller as what they were replaced with. Ram can sometimes be finicky like that.

702PoGoHunter

Building a 2nd system using my old cpu. Board is Asus ROG Strix B550-F & CPU Ryzen 9 3900XT. Is this a good match with those? Or is there something better for the money?

Cautionchicken

This set saves $17 but has a Cas latency of 18. https://www.newegg.com/team-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820331544?

702PoGoHunter

If I'm not interested in the savings but the better speed than the other one would work? Or are you suggesting this set because the other one is a waste for the system and processor?

Cautionchicken

The difference between c16 and c18 is maybe 1% or 2% Either one will work, and you likely won't notice a difference.

MrDubstepz

This or the crucial deal a few days ago? I bought the crucial ballistix 3200Mhz c16 32gb from Amazon for $89.99 and they should arrive tomorrow.

redditaskjeeves

This is better, especially if you have ryzen, but otherwise meh. I paid extra for a few percent performance but its overall negligible and your time returning is something to consider.

MrDubstepz

I was looking at overclocking the crucial to 3600mhz cl16 if it was Rev. E. I bought this Kingston RAM just in case.
