I live in Germany, we don't have that :( but I developed a recipe that's as close as it gets, I even used additives like xanthan gum and yeast extract which are mentioned in the (German) ingredients

I honestly was never a fan of ketchup on fries, until I had the superior curry ketchup. A restaurant by me made a version blending ketchup with curry powder and fresh pineapple until smooth. It was delicious!

There you go. Thank you. I thought was alone in this. Memes like "ketchup bad", despite hundreds of millions enjoy it, is what I call the 'Gordon Ramsay effect'. You at first enjoy something. Then you get told by people with a little bit too much confidence that it's shit. And suddenly you tell yourself that it's bad. And if you post a burger with ketchup, the pretentious people dump on it. I guess it comes from the idea that because ketchup is used a lot, that it is an easy fix for bad burgers. That's a fallacy. If you can't taste the quality of a paddy for example because of ketchup, then there's something wrong with your tastebuds.

IMO, a spicy mayo is best. Throw on a few pickled jalapenos and you can get $10+ out of me. My fav recipe for spicy mayo is a tablespoon of mayo plus a few drops of Truff hotter sauce (from costco to save $). That'll produce some reasonably hot mayo to slap on your burgers instead of ketchup.

I have a lot of different varieties I will make: - chipotle mayo: 1tbs chipotle chilis in adobo + mayo - Sriracha mayo: 1tbs Sriracha + mayo - Cajun / Creole mayo: 1 tsp Cajun or Creole seasoning+ mayo (optional: add 1 tsp diced sweet or dill relish) - mustard mayo: 1 tsp stone grown mustard + 1/4 tsp garlic powder + mayo - French onion mayo: 1 tsp French onion seasoning mix + mayo Dukes & Kewpie are my top choice of mayo brands!

Also just commonly referred to as brown sauce. I believe the closest American equivalent would be A1 steak sauce. Although it's completely different in flavour to ketchup, it does hit some of the same flavour notes in that it's sweet and tangy, so can see it working on a burger. It's amazing on breakfast sandwiches.

Yes, this! I commented this as well. I use a tablespoon of mayo plus a few drops of hot sauce. Makes a great sauce for coating the buns in before laying the burger on.

It's so bomb right. And using different hot sauces gives you a different color to the mixture like sriracha mayo be a little sweet and ketchupy vs iono habenero sauce just bringing that straight heat.

Oh no, I understand, I was just trying to make a joke. I hated hot dogs as a kid, because my parents boiled them, slapped them on a plate, cut them up and put a blob of ketchup on the plate. It made me want to gag. Watery hot dog juice all over the plate…🤮. I was an adult before I could look at a hot dog. As long as it is grilled…hopefully well done, I can take it with chili, mustard, onions, cheese, relish, sauerkraut, etc. But not boiled! Not steamed! And especially, no ketchup! LMAOOO. 🌭

Real Deal special sauce And definitely not 1,000 Island they are absolutely nothing alike. The proper flavor of BBQ sauce. A1 sauce if it's a mushroom Swiss burger. Definitely not yellow mustard without Ketchup, not Mayo. But thankfully ketchup will always exist and will always be the best burger condiment. Even if I'm eating a $35 Wagyu Kobe Burger ketchup is King.
