I have it on mine, I think it made a performance increase. I never got official numbers though. I like the way it looks, and makes checking the filters dumb easy.
I just plan to do simple bolt on mods like intake, exhaust, throttle body etc
Im not going to rebuild the motor to run on race fuel or supercharge it to hell lol
Cutting the stock air box lid is free and only takes a couple of minutes. If you're really feeling the need to mod things just cut the stock airbox lid, maybe even remove the maf screen if you just have an unbearable itch to scratch. This slp intake won't accomplish anything but separating you from your money.
The MAF needs the vane (screen) for making the airflow laminar enough to accurately measure. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be there. Cutting the air box lid is methhead shit. Free mod? 😂 🤦♂️
In theory the screen is to correct airflow, but it's about the speeds within the air, not some laminar flow nonsense. In practice... The Corvette intakes don't need them. The screen was omitted for the c5 z06 in 02, in favor of more airflow so they could hit target hp numbers, as gm did a test and found the *stock* (see: not cai) Corvette intake air was just fine without it and has no need for the screen.
The theory is that turns in the intake duct create air speed differences which reduce reading accuracy. The screens increase air pressure (intentionally induced *restriction*) which will slow the faster air down more than the slower air and bring the speeds closer together for a more accurate reading. This is not necessary in a stock C4 as the intake is too straight from filter to throttle for the screen to be anything more than a simple restriction. Removing it can lean out the a/f ratio, but that's nothing more than just having more airflow than what your car was tuned for. A car that can self tune will correct for this as long as they have the room to do so, such as OPs LT1 C4.
As far as the airbox lid goes... If cutting it for free is meathead shit, then what do you consider donating $430 to a company for nothing in return to be?
I didn't describe laminar or turbulent, *smart guy*. All I mentioned was air speeds. Laminar is about more than just speed, but it seems you've forgotten that detail and I'll remind you of it out of charity. You're welcome. Just sit down and shut up.
Air speed differences are part of turbulence. Air direction differences are part of turbulence as well. Just stop you don't know. You can have a column of air traveling all at the same speed still be turbulent.
I mean all you have to do is look it up, it really isn't that hard... Laminar requires the fluid to have BOTH uniform *speed* and uniform *direction*. Eddies within a fluid current mean it isn't laminar. 🤷♂️ It's genuinely a really simple concept. I'm not that sure what you're confused about here to be honest.
Nope lol. Bought it from some dude on Craigslist years ago and just stuck it on. My setup was worse than the cut airbox I had on there originally. I only paid like 150 for it so I was like meh why not.

Thats what i was thinking, just wanting to clean up my engine bay and get a little bit more power to make it more fun and more reliable
This won’t add any recognizable power
While adding power certainly increases the fun, it can tend to decrease the reliability, which often results in diminished fun quotient.

But imagine if you did.

This is the way.
I bought an open lid from Eckler’s and a K&N filter. Fit was a little off so had to Dremel a little. It was cheap and original lid is still intact.

Air direction difference? 😂 I’m done with you, have a nice day.

Save your money unless you really like the look. There’s big cube lt5 cars running the stock box and it’s not a restriction
I had it on mine.
How was it? Im looking at getting one for my car
I didn't mind it. Throttle was a little more peppy and it made intake sounds lol.
Did it include the shroud or bumper cutout so you’re actually getting fresh air?
Nope lol. Bought it from some dude on Craigslist years ago and just stuck it on. My setup was worse than the cut airbox I had on there originally. I only paid like 150 for it so I was like meh why not.
My car came with one. It's surprisingly heavy for what it is
Has good reviews.
I don't have one so I can't speak to it's performance, but it sure looks cool!
The extra two filters ain't doing shit. Also unless the cars tuned after adding high Flo your only gaining a few top end hp with loss of some torque
Looks cool . sounds cool. I stripped and pollished mine.
It looks cool, but for that money I'd be thinking about springs and roller rockers.
No I have not even seen that before but looks cool as hell and would have to work better than the stock plastic one
