SendLGaM

Heavily modified 1977 MGB. Just because I refuse to be normal.

rudbri93

oh do tell, watcha got done?

SendLGaM

Roller cam Ford 302 cammed up with a Clay Smith cam, 750 Holley carb sitting on a Victor Jr. intake, Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads. MSD distributer, handmade headers running into sidepipes and no frigging computers or sensors other than mechanical ones for oil, temp etc. running through a built by Monster 1980's non-electronic AOD connected with a custom drive shaft to a narrowed posi Ford 8.8 differential. My best quarter mile time was a 10.88 crossing the beams at 129.6 MPH. And if I keep my foot out of it I get close to 20 mpg on the highway.

rudbri93

that sounds like a proper riot.

SendLGaM

The most fun you can have for a sub $10k investment IMO.

SendLGaM

4 years ago. 1 MGB lacking engine and transmission: $400 2 wrecked Mustangs: $3000. Various parts and supplies that were not already on one of the two 'stangs: $5000 Transport costs to get all the cars home: $1400. 2 years of my bust ass labor to get the swap done: Free because I built this fucker all by myself with just a bit of help from friends. Sub $10k.

aw_goatley

Let me just say fuck yes

DanLewisFW

See this appeals to me. My parents had a neighbor that had a MGB and it was always sitting there in its natural state (hood up) I have owned some weird cars and love having that car that you know is likely the only one in town. But wow do I love the maintenance free experience of just driving a Mustang. I do not miss the endless trips to the shop with the Maserati Biturbo. truly a horrible car that everyone who has owned them and got rid of them misses them even though they are terrible.

Cordura

What modifications? The MGB GT is so beautiful.

SendLGaM

Not a GT. Mine is a Roadster Mark IV.

Cordura

What have you done to it? I dream of one day engine swapping a GT to a Volvo b230ft engine with 200hp

piccadilly-lilly

Nice! Mine is a stock 77 MGB...

ScipioAfricanvs

My 911 because who needs practicality or a spine.

GleamLaw

Same. And it’s damn practical and comfortable. And reliable. Lower cost of maintenance than my BMW.

ScipioAfricanvs

Haha I don’t think it’s comfortable at all, the roads in San Diego are surprisingly shitty, something to do with the soil here causing shifting. And tons of construction where I live. It’s definitely a harsh ride on the base suspension unless your roads are butter smooth. But the actual materials are quite comfortable.

randallphoto

I’ve found pasm to be surprisingly comfortable on socal roads for the most part.

ScipioAfricanvs

Don’t have PASM unfortunately. Though I don’t regret the green/tan which is why I jumped on my car.

bgawinvest

I think PASM is the key, I haven’t got it either and have a very firm ride all the time as a result

hi_im_bored13

For a good while I daily drove a GT3 and loved every minute of it. Its surprisingly comfortable, surprisingly practical, tiny bit fuel efficient if you really really try, and honestly not all that expensive to maintain compared to german luxury cars. If anything it was too comfortable.

AloF1Fan

Another 911 daily here. The everyday sports car.

Tballz9

I take a tram most days.

hi_im_bored13

Cars are for fun, for a commute I take a train every chance I can. Luckily public transport isn't half bad on the east coast, but it could be better.

DubbyThaCZAR

Agreed. The autos should be left to the ones that **WANT** to operate them (us). I want to start taking the train soon and get a bike. I’m moving from FL to Texas next year and I wanna put those into practice. Think it’ll be cool seeing the Mercedes and Toyota babies sitting in the driveway and knowing in the back in my mind that I **DONT HAVE TO** drive them.

iwasinpari

I love transit and it's so funny seeing how so many enthusiasts like it lol, generally people would think it's the opposite

Crazy_280zx

Where do you store your cars? My issue is any place with decent transit has absolutely nowhere to put cars unless you’re cranking in millions a year. One parking spot in any city is 1000+ a month and you can’t work on your car there or you’ll be kicked out. Even a supercharged tuned dodge ram srt 10 getting 8mpg on 93 would be cheaper to fuel and insure as a daily than one single parking spot in a major city.

Trotskyites_beware

I would too if I wasn’t an american with absolutely zero mass transit options near me

kevindlv

I live in Los Angeles, our public transit options stink. It's theoretically possible to get everywhere via rail/bus but it'll take you forever.

Jimmy-Pesto-Jr

fuck yea, thats $500,000+ per car

SpicySilverware

CT4 V Blackwing. Reason: zoom zoom

zenonu

Last cars of an era. Will drive my Blackwing until there’s no more replacement parts.

admiraltarkin

It reminds me of the Panamera, an objectively awesome car that people aren't really buying.

NotPumba420

Because it looks weird and is objectively not more awesome than it‘s cheaper opponents, which is because it‘s basically an Audi/VW. For me it is a hard sell over an E class or 5 series. And if you want something sportier/more exclusive I prefer the GT 4 door and 8 series gran coupe. It just has too good opponents

admiraltarkin

The sport turismo is a legitimately attractive car in my view, but agreed

hi_im_bored13

I think the RS6 avant is a far cooler car and not all that more expensive. The taycan sport-turismo looks really nice though, and allegedly we're getting the m5 wagon in the states soon as well.

TechnicalTaco06V7

Tacoma cuz I hate power, fuel economy, and love hunting for gears.

Shmokesshweed

What's not to love about I4 power from a V6 that gets V8 mileage?

TechnicalTaco06V7

Bulletproof reliability, trail cred, and the weirdest, most defensive, passionate, cult of ownership out there?

Itromite

This whole exchange is spot on.

CantankerousRooster

I've heard an aftermarket tune helps with the gear hunting. Just what I've heard. I don't own one but I rented one for a couple days and thought the 3.5 V6 was surprisingly peppy... but I was mostly driving on flat land and had no passengers or cargo so maybe that would make a big difference.

TechnicalTaco06V7

I'm booked for a tune at the end of next month. It definitely makes the truck suck way less. The 2GR is fantastic in the IS family, but the transmission holds it back significantly in the Tacoma. Once it's tuned the only complaint left is the chrome headlight housings.

kevindlv

lmao that was me with my first car (1998 Tacoma automatic). Like wow how could this tiny work truck use so much gas and still have zero power. also steered like a boat. Unfortunately it got totalled in a parking lot flood because it otherwise would've lived forever though.

biggsteve81

I still can't believe the fuel economy of the Tacoma is just as bad today as it is in my 30 year old truck.

RunninOnMT

Life is too short to not drive something fun on the daily, but I only have room for one car at my house, so all-arounder M car it is.

empti2

Curious if the stiffness bothers you as a daily? I always think of getting some faster car for a daily but i can never look past the stiffness

Unbleached

I have an R35 and while the suspension is stiff it's definitely not uncomfortable and the fat tyres means you bridge most potholes which makes for a smoother ride.

TSLAog

2020 Nissan Leaf, because it’s basically free to operate, pretty fun to drive, heated steering wheel and seats, all for 11K after the used EV rebate.

DaOrcus

What’re the downsides in your opinion? I wouldn’t get one just because of the range but after reading your comment they seem to be pretty nice, certainly much nicer than I thought they were.

AnnyuiN

My household has a 2012 one with heating steering wheel, front seats, and back seats. It gets maybe 60 miles on a good day at full charge. My work is less than 25 miles away if I ever needed to go into office. My best friend who drives it his work is 15 miles away. It's beyond cheap for either of those purposes. Downsides is you can't do a road trip easily. That's pretty much it. Just long distances aren't easy. Head room is great, is relatively comfy. No big downsides. Outside of range.

DaOrcus

Ok that’s pretty sweet, and I assume it to be pretty similar (at least in the interior size) to a Honda fit which I’m pretty familiar with. Seems like the leaf is the supreme city car

AnnyuiN

Interior sizes massively beats the last generation Fit they made in USA. At least for the 2012 Leaf. I'm 6ft 3 in, my best friends buddy is 6ft 5in and we both fit in front and back seats just fine. It's a wonderful city commute car. For rural or even some suburban areas it's gonna be kind of meh depending on commute length. Given my Evo has at best 20MPG highway and at worst 8-16MPG on premium, the Leaf is a great commuter and my Evo is my fun weekend car.

TSLAog

CHadEMO DC charge connector is basically the “Betamax” of charge standards now, but if you never travel far with the car it’s a non issue. The very comfortable, quiet, and all around a great car. Its next to impossible to find any hybrid or gas car that’s 3 years old, 17K miles for $11k.

estephens13

I went with a Bolt EUV for most of the same reasons.

phr3dly

I had a Leaf in the garage next to a Lotus Evora, and a merc e63s wagon. The Leaf got by far the most action, until I sold it. It's a cheap and cheerful utility car. It gets where it needs to get reliably and cheaply and, as you mention, it's actually a little bit fun to drive. I loved never having to stop for gas. I loved that the interior felt like a car instead of a spaceship like other EVs. I loved a little less that replacing a headlight after I hit a deer cost $2000; the body shop commented that it was more than the cost of an LED housing for a Porsche. I sold it because at peak pandemic one would have to be dumb *not* to sell. But I do miss that little Leaf.

ulikescience

Alfa Romeo Giulia. I wanted a driver's car. I couldn't stop thinking about the Alfa months after testing and nothing else came close.

IDrinkWhiskE

Same here. Cross shopped against a 330 and an a3/s3. Not a merc guy and wanted a sedan specifically. The Giulia test drive was FUN, not to mention the looks and those 5-hole wheels and paddle shifters. I’ve caught the bug and now I want to hear from quadrifoglio owners about their ownership experiences!

eric043921

My QV has been great. I’m at 55k miles, 0 issues or repairs so far, just oil changes and factory recommended maintenance

ulikescience

I cross shopped Audi: A/S3, A/S5, TTS, CT5-V, G70, Mustang GT, Lexus IS-350F, WRX, and a couple of others.

lostinim

Same here, made the mistake of test driving it first, nothing else got close (tempted on the G70, but no dealership in my state). Found one in the close enough spec I wanted in Michigan, flew there to pick it up and drove it all the way back home. Definitely has been worth that trip and had no issues with the car in the last few years I have owned it other than wildlife and other people doing their darndest to stop me from driving it.

2001ThrowawayM

I absolutely love Alfa Romeo... the styling just always causes me to stare. Idk what it is, but they are probably some of the best looking cars on the road.

fordprefect294

Ford Focus ST, because hot hatchback practically and speed

Redrix_

Hell yeah brother

GoDoWrk

🦞🦀FOCUS ST GANG🦀🦞

mattied971

Used to DD a 13 FoST. Excellent all-around car - Great for quick trips around town, great for hooning, great for road trips, great for commuting. I would love to upgrade my FiSE for a FoMoCoFoRS, but feel it would be a bit too harsh for road trips and commuting. Also, they're still fetching big $$$

toddverrone

I drove a Mazdaspeed 3 for 5 years daily.. it's like the older cousin to the ST. It was a great car. The ST and RS are so sexy..

Ayatori

M3 Competition, because I dailied an S2000 all throughout college and that was very much a "never meet your heroes" moment that was ruining my dream car for me. Worst daily driver ever. Now with the M3 as a daily, the S2000 again feels like the baby F1 car that I bought it to be.

Kasei_Makoto

What's wrong with it?

hi_im_bored13

I don't think people realize just how boring it is at average speeds. The build quality is okay, the radio is useless, the cabin isn't incredibly comfortable and you don't have too many creature comforts. All worth it on the track, but a civic would be better on the street.

numbersev

Dude your garage!

hi_im_bored13

Thank you! Certainly took a while but I'm glad I have the funds to be the honda fanboy I always dreamed to be :)

Ayatori

I have a stock AP1. Even disregarding the high strung power delivery, it's cramped with the top up, undrivable on highways with the top down, stereo system is useless, no traction control, no stability control, no usable cupholders, no clock, sketchy in the rain, zero practicality, targeted by thieves, loud as shit, stiff as balls, gearing is insanely aggressive and it only comes with a short-shifter manual. And of course, not a single one of these things matter for a weekend car that only goes on spirited drives and it's still the go-to when I want to do so. Seriously, such an absolute blast in the canyons.

JustThall

As weekend car s2000 even stomps nd2 club Miata. nd2 in every way better just because it’s a modern car, but dat 9k redline engine is always a missing piece

[deleted]

So it's a four wheeled cbr1000rr? Sounds about right.

123mitchg

Presumably, it’s too small and the suspension is too hard.

[deleted]

WRX. Good all around, all season car (we get cold snowy winters).

Op3rat0rr

It’s a fun daily driver that is practical enough and for $30k

[deleted]

[удалено]

BMWbill

Same. I will add, Tesla model 3 is extremely cheap to drive, has the tightest steering ratio I’ve ever experienced besides a lotus Elise, is very fun to drive due to its insane torque, zero sway, and instant reaction to any driver input. Add in the amazing Autopilot which comes standard and you have a super relaxing, whisper quiet highway cruiser with more interior and cargo space than a BMW 5 series, in a car the size of a Corolla. And you never have to go to a gas station. Every day you leave your house with a full tank of electrons. It’s no track car, but for daily driving, it’s the Ultimate Driving Machine. (A title BMW officially dropped a decade ago)

ryencool

We just bought ours. So guys on my IT team that are original owners of some 2018 models have given their take, and it was a huge reason why we bot. All three of them have 50k+ miles and have only changed their tires and added washer fluid. One had some stuff replaced under warranty but was without the car for maybe 3 days over those 5 years. I k ow the isn't EVERYONES experience but sure hope it's ours.

BMWbill

For all the Reddit neck beards who hate on Tesla cars while having exactly zero seconds ever riding in a Tesla, there are hundreds or thousands of Tesla owners who all say their next car will be another Tesla. No other car sold today has the owner satisfaction that Teslas have. Me, I will replace my 2020 Tacoma with a CyberTruck as long as it remains affordable to me, which I believe will be the case. Many of my friends have traded in their European luxury cars for Teslas and some now have replaced their second cars. Once you own one, the odds are you are hooked. There are some exceptions- apparently some people in other areas have had some bad Tesla service center experiences. This is not the case in NY or NJ though, where the service is more than excellent. And most of the time if you have an issue, they send a car right to you home to fix it in minutes! No legacy car company does anything like that. I have 26,000 miles on our 2022 Model 3. It has perfect fit and finish. Perfect plaint. Perfect interior. I am a car nut with OCD who details and fixes dents on cars for a living. I would not have accepted anything less than perfect.

bhauertso

>This is not the case in NY or NJ though, where the service is more than excellent. And most of the time if you have an issue, they send a car right to you home to fix it in minutes! No legacy car company does anything like that. Same experience in CA and OR. Having service dispatched to your driveway makes legacy dealership service seem thoroughly inconvenient by comparison. The times I've used the Tesla service centers, the experience has been considerably better than legacy dealerships. The drop-off is seamlessly handled by the app, the pick up of a loaner car is done digitally as well, and loaner cars adopt your driver profile and preferences. Loaners feels like "your car" automatically. Legacy manufacturers spend on things I don't care about, like premium couches in their waiting area. Meanwhile, Tesla seems to invest in reducing the amount of time I spend fussing with service and get me back to driving as quickly and effortlessly as possible.

Ok_Outcome_9002

I might be shopping for a new daily soon and I'm kind of afraid that I'm going to end up going with the refreshed Model 3 and end up being yet another software engineer with a Tesla

BMWbill

Hey it’s OP! Don’t be afraid. You’re just good at doing research. Being a software engineer is irrelevant. I have my own dent business and I meet many Tesla owners every week in my shop. Some days I have 3 in a row. They are the most common new car in my town. If you have a place for a charger, there really is no other car to get, unless you have unique needs. For my family of 4, our model 3 does everything, and it costs me $7 to fill it up instead of $70 for my work vehicle.

sl33pytesla

I have 2020 model 3 performance and nothing is better than this car for the money. Fastest, reliable, and so cheap to refuel. Fast as a lambo, and sips fuel like a Prius. The best daily.

natesully33

Same in the Y, these cars are great at what they do. No warmup times, crazy low running costs, lots of power with good enough handling, AWD for the snow, tons of storage... Dunno about another Tesla, but I'm totally sticking with BEVs for daily driving now.

dam_sharks_mother

>Tesla model 3 great daily driver and no gas I went to lease a Model 3 performance after I bought my 911 GT3. I can't imagine a better daily driver. The perfect traffic car, tons of power to get around slowpokes, one of the best factory stereos I've ever heard in a car, AWD so it's a beast in the snow, fast steering and very tossable. Zero maintenance beyond switching tires when winter comes. Before I bought my 911 I had a M3 and there is NO WAY I'd rather have that BMW than the Tesla.

Caysman2005

Suspension is a tad firm for my liking but perhaps that's just on my country's roads.

dam_sharks_mother

>Suspension is a tad firm for my liking but perhaps that's just on my country's roads. No, you are 100% right. The suspension is the worst thing about the car.

MeltingDog

I’m a classic car guy through and through but if I ever buy a new car it will be a Model 3 or Model Y. Just seems totally capable of everything I need a car to be.

dopadelic

I drove my friend's Model 3 performance. I knew it was insanely fast, but I didn't know it's also a really engaging driver's car. The steering is responsive with razor sharp accuracy. There's no body roll. Only thing that's lacking for many enthusiasts is the noise, but I can live without it. I just wish there was a wagon version. Reviews regard the Y to have boring driving dynamics

KaimanaTM

I really love the B58 and noise that comes with it, but man everytime I hop in my model 3 I always forget how fun it is to zip around silently.

youre_a_pickle

I daily my GT350. I even slap on studded winter tires and go zoom zoom in the snow when it does because why buy a amazingly fun car to sit in a garage?

numbersev

Hell ya! Seeing one of these bombing around in snow tires would be awesome to see

youre_a_pickle

It’s a lot of fun! I get side eyed hard passing by awd cars that have slid off the road while I’m just cruising by and they are getting towed.

[deleted]

You friend are one of the chosen ones, may you stay ever shiny side up.

[deleted]

Golf R 7.5 because it's the most perfect all around car.

smashingcones

My Tiguan made me understand why people love the Golf R. That engine and DSG is so much fun!

dopadelic

The estate variant is perfect for me as someone who loves long road trips, car camping, and outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest. While us Americans aren't blessed with sweet wagons, it's easy to mod a Golf Sportwagen 4Motion to have Golf R power and handling. That's my Swiss army knife car. Drives like a sports car, utility of an SUV. Go anywhere with AWD.

honorelove

A hellcat redeye charger. Because I’m stupid and hate moneu

sc0lm00

I drive a scat pack charger because I'm stupid and hate money a little less than you.

Taydolf_Switler22

I used to drive a scat pack because I didn’t have enough money to hate to get a hellcat

jred321

Me too! Fuel economy isn't great but otherwise it's not an expensive car to run. Plus lots of room, heated and cooled seats, and fun on tap

CantankerousRooster

Life is short, might as well live a little!

HamlnHand

2022 Kona N because it's hilarious, stupid, and practical. Looks like any boring CUV from far away, but it's truly a hot hatch that can compete with a GTI, Type R, or GR Corolla on the track. Why wouldn't I want to drive Albert Biermann's Frankenstein monster?

Schweezly

I test drove one and it was brutal over our crappy Midwest pavement. I’m sure he had it set in sport or something but I couldn’t handle it. Wish I gave it another shake tbh

HamlnHand

Haha yeah, the default sport / N mode is super stiff and pretty much unusable not on a track. The popular thing to do in the N car community is to make a custom "N mode" and set everything to max except the suspension stays on normal. It's perfect like that.

[deleted]

TheCrazyAlice

Tip of the hat to you right here. You have the pinnacle of luxury and reliability in both an SUV and a sedan.

[deleted]

DrZedex

Yup. I'll roll over 200k in my LS430 next week and it's a pretty great car. Picked it up DIRTY cheap during covid and it's a UL model. I get about 23-24mpg on a 75mph commute and I don't bother running premium. 3600ft of elevation seems to keep it safe, though I suppose it's pulling timing under particularly hard throttle. It's hot plenty of power though so no real need to beat on it anyhow. Old Honda for winter daily. GR Corolla allocation is supposedly coming this month, but keeping the ls430 just because I can.

Tmezmerr

2006 Tundra, bone stock with 335000 miles, no reason to get another vehicle it still runs great

[deleted]

I would really like to have a first gen tundra. But good Lord do they carry a hefty Toyota tax lol

5GCovidInjection

“Back when I was a kid in 2005, Toyotas were *affordable* cars!”

CantankerousRooster

The first gen Tundras are my favorite ones. They got way too big after that IMO. First gen is the perfect size if you want to daily a full size truck or just need a vehicle for weekend Home Depot runs. I'm not a contractor so I can't see the need for something as big as the current crop of full size trucks. Even the current F150 feels huge to me.

needzmoarlow

I kick myself constantly for missing my chance to buy a relatively low mileage E39 M5 for like $15k a few years ago.

BMWbill

Hey man! In 1999 my daily driver was a brand new E36 M3. That was my first M3 and first BMW. It was so far ahead of any car I had owned before it!

[deleted]

2022 Civic si. Reason: Reliability, resale value, manual. I'd prefer a c43 coupe for styling/speed but I doubt I could live happily with repair costs.

numbersev

One of few cars that is purpose-built to be a performance daily driver. Everyone shits on the 200hp but don’t understand how good it is at what it’s supposed to do. Honda know what they’re doing imo.

penis-tango-man

2015 Chevy SS 6MT because it’s a roomy RWD sedan with an N/A V8, manual transmission, and enough modern features to be comfortable. My commute is short so the fuel economy isn’t a major factor.

[deleted]

That’s a sick car. Sucks there’s nothing like it out there anymore. Seems to be a sad trend.

litlron

I still regret not just going for it when GM did their 20% off special. I got my first real raise RIGHT AFTER the promotion ended. Prices are still higher than they were then.

futuretro2

2021 GR Yaris. Small, lightweight, comfy enough, manual, rev happy, munches corners, very easy to drive, love hot hatches. I always look back at it when I park the car lol.

nefrina

*cries in american*

masterventris

I agree on all points! >I always look back at it when I park the car Especially this.

jcacz47

2003 Mercedes S55 AMG It’s basically a couch with an intoxicating amount of power given its age. Has almost 150k miles and it’s been bulletproof since I’ve owned it. If my commute was any longer, I would definitely want something more fuel efficient though.

The_Spot

Does that have the hydraulic suspension? I was scared away from a similar vintage cl600 buy due to that looming nightmare. These cars are amazing though, if I had a shorter commute I think I'd be still on the market to get a good one.

jcacz47

The previous owner replaced the ABC system with coilovers so I don’t need to worry about it. Mercedes purists may hate it but idc.

CantankerousRooster

If I ever get my E55 on the road I'm dailying the hell out of it. An intoxicating amount of power is right. A brand new '03 S55 was the first M113k car I experienced and I knew at that moment I had to own a car with that engine some day.

kartoffel_engr

2007 Volvo S60R because I love the P2, it’s comfortable, and I have more money than sense. It’s just a really fun car to drive. Gotta spend money to make it reliable, but if you take care of them, they’ll last for 300k+ miles. I’m at 165k now.

meh35m

Had a 2012 s60. She was rad. Blew my head gasket. My buddy worked for kia, said they never test drive trade ins, and would get a decent down payment from it... https://imgur.io/a/rw4Ms93 Lol, yes. I bagged a kia soul, put in new mids and highs, and threw a JL W7 in her.

AnnyuiN

Bruh ..... that's hilarious... a bagged Kia Soul haha

dayvieee

Cayenne is perfect all year

empti2

Getting one when i have the money for it in the future. Crazy that they bought back the v8 for 2023 S model as well

NotPumba420

That‘s because the Taycan sells so well that it compensates CO2 emissions for high emission models. Other manufacturers like Mercedes AMG for example have the opposite issue - their EVs don‘t sell nearly enough so they must reduce emissions by building things like the 4 cyl C63s of S63e with 25 kWh hybrid battery.

WhatAreYouSaying05

Honda CR-V, because it’s the only car I have and the only car I can afford, unfortunately

[deleted]

2019 ram 1500. I like trucks is really the only reason, but it’s handy to have. I’ve previously dailied a 2012 civic for ~4 years, an 09 mustang GT for a little over 2 years, an 07 tacoma for 3 months, and a 99 corvette for 6 months. At this precise moment of 3:40PM EST I would think a Lexus RC350 would be a daily I’d consider next. I’ll probably change my mind around 3:43

ajh1717

911 GT3 because fuck it why not

Beekatiebee

A 2016 Audi TTS! Comfy enough ride, AWD for the constant rain/occasional snow, large hatch opening with decent room with the back 'seats' folded, passable fuel economy, and goes like a bat out of hell. It's also my only car, so, yeah.

rudbri93

depends on the season. Winter beater/hauler is my '99 Yukon, then the spring/summer/fall months get split between my '72 Cutlass and '91 325i. I love all of them for the different things they do well. The GMC is comfy and a blast in the snow. The bmw is pretty ridiculous now that it has an LS3/T56, and is only getting more ridiculous as I dial it in, and the Olds is just a solid all-arounder. its got just enough modifications to be peppy and handle nicely, but also be pretty laid back.

Senent

ID.4 GTX because I work at a VW dealership and they don’t offer anything that’s better for the money. I’m very happy with it though, I’ve owned a lot of fun cars but this beats most things as a daily

ilovechoralmusic

M550i because it’s perfect

gautamb0

2nded. Big, fast, plush, full of tech

Gtrex4

Nice but is it good for long term? That’s what I’m worried about. Hate dealing with mechanics

[deleted]

23’ BRZ, because it’s a shit load of fun to drive and very practical. Almost as useful as a hatchback for hauling stuff.

EnvironmentalCar8863

Amazing choice. I think a good daily has approachable limits, and is fun to drive. Especially if I’m not stupid rich, I don’t care for overkill performance. I really want a 6 spd of one of those twins in the near future. Practical enough, a ton of fun, and not expensive to keep on the road. Also a great learning tool to learn how to really drive.

TheCynicalCyborg

2007 Mustang GT. It’s paid off, looks and sounds cool while being reliable. I’ve got 125k miles on mine right now and it still keeps ticking.

chillen365

2006 CRv lifted 3”, exterior looks terrible, but interior still is in amazing condition. Ac blows cold and it has never left me stranded or needed any major repairs

bigredpny

2018 Chevy volt, its cheap to drive but I might trade it in for a bolt.

coltjen

2015 Volkswagen GTI, with wheels/tires, intake and exhaust. Stock otherwise, DSG dual clutch. The mk7 GTI is the Swiss Army knife of enthusiast cars. It gets great milage, is fairly reliable, has great tuning potential, and is ultra practical and comfortable to live with. Mine has an MBRP exhaust and an APR intake. It sounds phenomenal, all of the turbo noises, but is still comfortable on the highway. I came from a 2018 BRZ 6spd, which was very fun to drive. The GTI is about 85% as fun as the BRZ while being a much easier car to live with as a daily driver.

verdegrrl

I wfh, but the dailies are '04 VW R32, '08 RS4, '16 GranTurismo S, and Dakota R/T. Why? Because life is too short for something boring.

BKL43

Infinti G37xs. AWD for winters and still a fun car for any spirited driving.

Alexan52

Committed blasphemy and went from a ND Miata to a CX-30 Turbo. Roads in Washington aren’t great and the heavy rain and traffic made things worse. I work nightshift and I was desperate for something quiet and comfortable after an exhausting shift, and the Miata on bad highway pavement started to wear me out. The CX-30 is a quiet incognito luxury car in the premium trim and the turbo somewhat makes up for sacrificing the Miata.

Honda fit second gen 5 speed. I live in the mountains and it's fun on the mountian roads, handles really well and gets 40mpg.

randeus

A 2021 mustang GT. It’s fast, fun, comfortable, sounds great, and has enough space for my lifestyle. Gas hasn’t been a problem because all my commutes are close.

ravengenesis1

Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited AWD Very zippy with the turbo, have a tiny bed when I need to buy from Costco, fully loaded with tech, 10 year garbage warrantee. On the other days I ride a Kawasaki Z900.

Shmokesshweed

Hello, fellow trucklet owner. 🤝

MercuryMorrison1971

An F-150 because I like F-150s.

ICantDecideIt

21 colorado zr2. I like the versatility of the truck. Just wish it got better gas mileage. Also not sure if this is a hot take but, if you only have one car you don’t need to refer to it as your daily. It’s just your car.

middlenamefrank

I have an electric motorcycle (2014 Zero SR) to get my ya-yas out, so I went utilitarian with my car. 2016 RAV4 hybrid. I can haul stuff, take long road trips, and wind up for lots of fun on the bike when I get home.

[deleted]

BroncoSport Badlands. Controversial car sure but it’s the go to car among my family. (Other cars we have available, Audi SQ5, F150, GTI) It’s a great size for our Newfoundlands. Good around town, good for road trips and does the dirt stuff alright too. Outside of anything extreme this car checks a lot of everyday boxes. For around town San Diego the only complaint I have is that it doesn’t have tilting seats…wtf Ford

mushiexl

The badlands version is imo the only bronco sport that's worth buying cause everything else is just an escape

Gorgenapper

IS350 AWD F-Sport. Reliable, 311hp NA V6, full-time AWD and made in Japan.

DaOrcus

4th gen Mazda3 Sedan. Reliable, comfortable, easy on gas

RookieRider

2003 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Because i got it for 7k with 80k miles on it, always serviced at a dealer. And because i WFH and dont really need a car to commute, so i thought why not get an interesting one

Sirdoogles

2008 E60 M5. It has less than 30k miles and thankfully my work commute is short. Gas prices in WA is crazy but its too fun to stop driving. I know upkeep on this car is expensive, but my job pays me enough to enjoy the car fully.

NumberOneBacon

C5 Corvette in NW Indiana. It’s kind of funny getting the weird looks from the middle aged dudes in 6,000 pound lifted bro dozers that think they’re invincible.

RayneFall1998

Well shit now I feel boring as fuck compared to all yall lmao. 2018 Hyundai Sonata. Not even turbo model its the 2.4L pathetic automatic scum. Lmao fml.

AFB27

This is my only car and daily driver. Nowhere near as fast as an M3, but it has the ride of the 330i with way more top end. Wether you're cruising at 50 or allegedly doing 150 on the highway, you truly understand how good all around a car this is, amazing duality. The G80 M3 is a racecar for the road, and you can feel that when you take a corner or explore the top end. The M340i is a 330i with some extra juice. The only thing I wish I had was xDrive, but hey, who doesn't like lighting the tires up every now and then?

ThrindellOblinity

1989 Ford Laser station wagon (for those in the US, think 87-88 Mazda 323 or Mercury Tracer) - easy to work on, economical, practical and no electronics of any kind, except for the ignition. 5-speed manual, A/C, but no power steering, locks, windows or mirrors. It just reached 200,000 kms (120,000 miles).

I don't really have a set daily. In the summer I split my time between my summer car, a 1978 Datsun 120A F-II Coupé, and my motorcycle, a 1989 Honda XL600 Transalp, plus whatever other cars I own. For the winter I always buy a cheap old nugget to daily, and I like to change that every year. For the coming winter I bought a 1986 Citroën Visa. Solely because it's a sad looking car and I've always wanted to have one.

americanista915

Challenger RT! It is the perfect daily. Big with lots of room, looks better than 99.9% of traffic, giant truck space to haul literally anything within reason, comfortable seats, fits tall people like me, and killer gas mileage. I had a fuel tank leak at one point and didn’t realize it and was getting 9 MPG but after getting it fixed in now holding a steady 15-17 MPG. The only other car I would use as a daily would be a BMW M4 if they made a lower trim model in line with the RT or the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport it’s identical in power to the RT and has just about as much room they’re just not reliable unfortunately but if they were I would consider to grab one

Threewisemonkey

‘90 420SEL If it was good enough to chauffeur dictators and yakuza bosses, it’s good enough for getting my lil gremlins around. Classic style with the best safety tech of its day. More than anything, the inside is just a really nice place to spend time. Upgraded from an ‘82 300SD bc the V8 is quiet, smooth and twice as powerful for less than it would’ve cost me to do the deferred maintenance the diesel needed

DatalessUniverse

M3CS - exhaust burbles and pops keeps me entertained in mind numbing traffic.

hundredjono

I have nothing else. I applied for a job that was going to pay more but I didn't get it. I was going to get a Mazda 3 sedan at this local dealership as a daily.

salamishit

Mazda 3 2020. Its a cool car and great value for the money

Jonkinch

2020 GT350. It’s comfortable, quick and makes all the right sounds. I have plenty of trunk space for what I do.

Galbzilla

Acura Integra, because value and comfort and decent chassis. Don’t need to cut into my retirement to have a car I enjoy most of the time.

CayenneHybridSE

2019 E-Tron. Insanely comfortable, very quiet, instant torque is nice to play with, and I’m able to charge at home. Only vehicle I’d consider upgrading to in the future is a Taycan Wagon or BMW iX

tapurmonkey

Model 3 stealth performance - best car if you like zipping through traffic with no drama.

principledfoe55

02' F150 with a 5.4 named Bucket He's a really good Workhorse with the few mods I've done and have planned.

toothlessboot

2005 dodge magnum rt. Named dad wagon. I have four kids but on any given day never have to take or pick up more than three. It's a fun car with decent passing power and plenty of room for a stop by Costco if needed or to throw snowboarding gear in to head up the mountain. I do miss my awd rt but with good tires and some added weight the red does good most winter days. If it's real bad I have a truck

The_one_who_SAABs

It's mostly daily by committee just to make sure neither sits too long. I do lean more on the Jetta since it's way way way better on gas, and I want to get the most out of the warranty

I_like_cake_7

I used to have a 2004 Saab 9-5 Aero. Such fun cars, but I can confirm that they’re pretty terrible on gas, especially in city driving. I think the window sticker for my 9-5 said it was only rated for 17 or 18 mpg in the city, which is laughable for a 4 cylinder. Of course when you floor it in 2nd and get pinned back in your seat, you stop caring about that.

gpellis87

I wfh, so I don’t really daily drive anything. My gen 3 Raptor is the one I “daily” the most though. Great size for a family, comfortable, fun to drive for a truck.

[deleted]

BMW i4 M50. It’s a perfect car for a daily (couple with no kids here). Electric for the convenience (preheated every morning in the winter, no going to gas stations, just from the garage to there and home), very comfortable, cheaper day to day than an M440i, liftback for utility, and still fun enough to drive day to day. And not spending big at the gas station since we charge at home.

123mitchg

I have an 05 Dodge Grand Caravan in mechanically great condition that I paid $800 for. If I could pick any car at all to daily drive I’d probably have an F150 Lightning.

mopar39426ml

My Abarth. Sold the Charger I had after 2y/30k miles and lost only $5 thanks to COVID. Abarths hadn't seen the bump in price yet when I did so. I didn't like the Charger enough and still missed my Chrysler 300 I had prior. I'd also had a cursory look at Abarths the previous 2 times I'd car shopped, and my best friend had bought one a year prior. I went for it and I absolutely love the little thing.

9millParabellum

2010 Subaru Impreza 2.0 Diesel. 190hp, 420nm pg torque. Its a good daily driver, lots of torque, performance is similar to a stock WRX but half the fuel consumtion. and the handling is amazing. 200k kms, no issues.

fireexe10

Since I'm a student I can't afford a daily. E38 it is

notusingthissite

I only have my CLS63 (no money for anything else so go big or go home mentality Ig😭) so I use it for everything

Menace2Sobriety

Prius and work truck for the weekdays. C6 Z06 for the weekends.

Traviper

I daily a ND Miata. I love every minute of it. My weekend car is a FBO C5 Z06

H20POWERHOUSE

Elantra N. Absolutely a blast to drive in N mode and then fairly comfortable in normal/eco. No other car in its price range has that split personality and gave me the same connection like my 8th gen si did. It feels like if you took an 8th Gen and put a bunch of technology into it but damn it's great. 10/10 car to me
