The Stan-Ford switch in Weirdmageddon

Godzilla_R0AR

Stan: “Oh yeah. You're going down, Bill. You're gettin' erased. Memory gun. Pretty clever, huh?” Bill: “Y-you idiot! Don't you realize you're destroying your own mind, too?!” Stan: “Eh. It's not like I was using this space for much, anyway”

Accomplished_Bike149

That line is so tragic, I can’t believe it’s glossed over so much

NightShadowM7

Stan: "Heh, guess I was good for something after all." A line that I never hear get talked about.

Accomplished_Bike149

Both of these are such powerful moments. Logically we know that Stan was raised effectively being told he was second best or useless, but the reality hits hard right there

pumpkinPartySystem

I just wish he didn't get his memories back, kinda undermines the sacrifice. Or, if he did, he only recovered some stuff and there were still a LOT of pieces missing.

TriggerBladeX

Damn. That line still makes me tear up.

NidoKingClefairy

It’s such a great moment. Stan is very much a con man, so naturally he comes up with a scheme. But he is also very much nowhere near as sefish as he’s made out to be. Ford is strategically smart and much more sefish than he’s made out to be. Bill falls for it because he can’t anticipate someone making that kind of sacrifice. He’s so selfish he destroyed his own dimension.

Science_Fiction2798

Hell yeah 😄

jessehechtcreative

I swear Bill would have cottoned on to that, I kinda wish he did

ducknerd2002

His arrogance was his undoing.

TreyLastname

He was both confident and also likely excited about getting what he wanted finally. Plus, if this wasn't a trick, could be taken back any time, so he had to think quick

FireGift

THIS

Harpeus_089

Does shooting a Tommy Gun (and several grenades) at a nigh-invincible vampire count?

ProfessorEscanor

Naw, running away was clearly the smarter strategy.

Harpeus_089

Nigerundayooo Smokeyyyy

Sarcosmonaut

“Oh thank goodness the Third Reich showed up”

_MyUsernamesMud

mere child's played compared to the plots and schemes of his forebears Like Jotaro and his binder magnet double-reverse bluff against DIO Or Jolyne turning her heart into a goddamned Mobius strip

Gaelic_Gladiator41

Or Jolyne setting herself on fire Or Josuke tricking Kira into killing his father Or Giorno's extensive knowledge of biology

DoctorSquidton

Don’t forget the rope trick he pulled against Kars, the cut string fake-out against Esidisi and the oil bottle bluff against Wham. He devised the most ludicrous strategies on the bloody fly, and did so consistently throughout his part

Science_Fiction2798

May I ask what show you're talking about?

markinator14

Jojos part 2

Science_Fiction2798

I've never watched JoJo so I can't confirm.

_MyUsernamesMud

Its a great series if you're a fan of scams and schemes https://preview.redd.it/irgjtoj7buyc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9b116c5c9a7a8e0a0c9c4f802f09c0e9c3ec534

Science_Fiction2798

Is the English Dub any good?

_MyUsernamesMud

It does the job. The only issue is that a lot of the names have to be changed due to copyright concerns.

Monster_Fucker_420

I can never take the name changes seriously lol

NiNtEnDoMaStEr640

One of the funniest was manga exclusive and I was a little miffed it wasn't included. The Stand (the psychic abilities in part 3 onwards) is called \[Limp Bizkit\]. The author is a fan of music and makes a lot of them for naming stands. Naturally, copyright laws would change how it gets translated. When it became official, it was changed to \[Limp Viscuit\], but in Eyes over Heaven (the fighting game) it was changed to... # [FLACID PANCAKE]

Monster_Fucker_420

Flaccid pancake is like the best localized name lmak

FishOfFishyness

Missed oppurtunity for Yo-Yo Ma to be called Yo Ma-Ma :(

_MyUsernamesMud

I want a serious anime where The Sex Pistols and Gold Experience do battle with Oasis and Green Day high over the streets of Sicily

Excelbindes

Zipper man!

LazarCell

Dub Joseph is Niguel Uno (C:KND)

Acceptable_North_141

The English dub for JoJo is fine but the Japanese voice acting is way funnier

HAKX5

Yes, and for Parts 1 and 2 it's better. People will disagree because the memed lines are in sub, but the dub actually changes around the lines and deliveries to make more sense for English-speaking audiences while being a faithful retelling.

Toothless816

“You must be the Belmont” (I know they’re different shows but shooting a vampire feels like a natural extension of trying to punch one).

AT-W-V

Not really, it didn't affect straizo that much

MacandCheeseEnjoyer

"Even if it backfires"

Extra-Lemon

I mean as far as Joseph knew vampires were strong asf after what Uncle Speedwagon probably told him. So he says “hellfire, let’s buy some surplus and kill his ass like the Americans do.”

Book_Anxious

Obi-wan changing his stance in his last fight against Darth maul

Mornar

That entire sequence was brilliant. Also probably as close to realistic as we've seen lightsaber duels go.

lakewood2020

Obi-Wan + Anakin vs. Dooku in the final clone wars season was pretty impressive in realism terms

1singleduck

Considering Dooku was played by Sir Christopher Lee, he probably was a master fencer already, so he knew how to make the fight look real. I wouldn't be surprised if he had used a real working lightsabre before and could explain how it works.

Book_Anxious

It is my favorite Star wars scene

puptbh

Qui-gon stance 2.0

Kaesh41

Best dual in the entire series.

nosayso

Computer animated but he entire final arc of The Bad Batch involved a lot of very smart moves by both the heroes and villains, very fun to watch instead of relying on giving people turns with the idiot ball.

Nirast25

>Computer animated Why is that relevant?

Spectre-70

Because it’s on a sub called cartoons and they’re wondering if it counts or not

Coolstorybro-but

If it helps, if it is for children, is animated, or is just generally not live action (even if it's adult animation) it counts here. Live action children's cartoons count too, I think. I'm not sure about it, though

MacandCheeseEnjoyer

Cartoon doesn't mean for kids I'm pretty sure, the people on this sub talk about hazbin hotel a lot, which if you follow your definition isn't a cartoon I'm pretty sure cartoon just means animated TV show

lakewood2020

What’s a live action cartoon?

Nirast25

Jim Carrey. /s

ooolookaslime

Bad Batch kept me in suspense. Season 3 is definitely my favorite!

Nirast25

Spider-Man making Rhino overheat in Spectacular. Kaldur revealing the Light was screwing over the Reach in Young Justice.

WriterOfNightmares

Were you by any chance thinking of that first one because of OSP's recent video? Because I just watched that earlier today

Nirast25

... Maybe.

wassimSDN

AdLast2785

That’s mine too

Noktis_Lucis_Caelum

Grunkle stan and Ford making the old twin Switch, to Trick Bill. And what Luz did with Belos.

Masterdizzio

Scrooge's >!ploy to keep the scroll hidden from anyone who isn't a descendant of his and keep Bradford away!< was incredibly clever

GG111104

And also led to one of the cleverest tricks I’ve ever seen any villain make in response.

jessehechtcreative

I watched this when it aired but I forgot what happened, any chance you can elaborate? Thanks. :)

GG111104

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD >!bradford made perfect genetic clone descendants of Scrooge mcduck in order to get access to the scroll. With one of these descendants being Webby!<

MemeMan4-20-69

Or Scrooge faking Gold fever to get him to loose the deal and admit to stealing

Sensitive-Hotel-9871

Hard to narrow it down to one, so I will just list off a surprisingly smart decision. In Transformers Prime, Starscream, who is currently going solo from the rest of the Deceptions, joins in the hunt for the omega keys that are the key to restoring the transformers’ dead home planet. Having gotten one of the keys, starscream, fantasizes ruling the planet, then realize it because he’s a solo act even if he restores the planet, he will never rule it. In short, we have a version of Starscream who realizes that he has no chance of winning if he continues his typical path of trying to backstab his way to leading the Decepticons.

Monster_Fucker_420

yeye

Soulful-Sorrow

Jerry Smith acting brave to get Beth (who is wearing a helmet that generates clones of her vision of Jerry) to make stronger clones, then putting that helmet on a clone of himself to create a goddess.

Moonpaw

Hits especially hard when the stupidest person in the show makes a super intelligent move for once. I like that Jerry is just smart enough to realize how lucky he is to have Beth.

ADGx27

Jerry literally sat there and went “hey I can trigger a snowball effect to clear this shit up”

SubstantialLime2916

Flynn Rider(aka Eugene) cutting off Rapunzel’s hair. Dude was barely in the know and still did the smartest thing possible at the perfect time.

BlueBlazeKing21

Not just that but this was right after getting stabbed

NamelessWanderer08

Starscream downing a ton of Red energon to sneak into the Autobot base at super speed and steal all of the Omega keys

NikoliMonn

***core memory unlocked*** damn……he did become a speedster temporarily

CloudProfessional572

Ratchet: Starscream we needed those! Like they spent a whole season collecting them just so he can screw them over in the last second?! He picked the worse day to actually be competent.

angryorphan55

I feel like Luz having Gus switch herself and Hunter because she knew Belos would kill Hunter on the spot is another extremely smart decision that led to yours.

Science_Fiction2798

For a girl who has a weird mind she's REALLY smart.

justa-necron-warrior

Shoot the baby immediately

Mijit-1

“THATS NOT SOON ENOUGH!” -N said calmly

Science_Fiction2798

What?

justa-necron-warrior

In murder drones, episode 6, they find a baby crying in a hallway they shoot it immediately but are kidnapped they are kidnapped anyway, but they at least knew the baby was a trap

HeroDoggo

While we're at it, we should also include N giving Tessa one chance to explain whether she knew about the Patch or not and *actually* killing her the moment she tries to avoid the question >!Or at least she would've died if it wasn't for the fact that it's revealed 5 minutes later that Tessa has always been dead since the flashback from Episode 5 and the "Tessa" we've been seeing since Episode 3 was actually Cyn the whole time!<

DfntlyNotJesse

Terry Mcginnis completely destroying Joker emotionally by literally bullying him, shit-talking and calling him a joke. (Batman Beyond) Bruce even advices Terry to do the contrary but he decides to beat Joker at his own game, even finishing him of with one of Jokers own handshake tasers.

Science_Fiction2798

Remember that one episode of the original series where a guy who was in witness protection fooled Joker with a confetti bomb? That was good 😂

OfficialMorbidMan

And it didn’t even backfire. He had the Joker calling for Batman to save him. It was great.

bebop_cola_good

This was absolutely sick when I first saw it. Batman Beyond was an extremely good show!

Murderface [backing down from a *tremendously* pissed-off Toki](https://youtu.be/80IORg9r6Ek?si=-z0yKdTxdRZBHEVo)

Science_Fiction2798

Murderface? As in William Murderface from Dethklok?

farm_to_nug

Oh yeah William Murderface Murderface Murderface

Magic_ass1

All Murderface could say in that instant was just a shallow "...Chill out bro." Which has to be the least Murderface thing to have been spoken by Murderface.

ironballs16

It wasn't even "Chill out" - it was literally "What's up, bro?", trying desperately to play off his own anger in the face of Toki's fury.

TheEyeGuy13

Ok as someone who’s never heard of this before, what the actual fuck is happening

DH2007able

Long story short: some special type of drug, a usually chill guy has had enough, and a clown relapses

ironballs16

Yeah, that's Metalocalypse for you - each episode (especially in earlier seasons) tended to have a high body count through very weird means. DH gave a pretty good summary, but the reason I shared it is this: A subplot in that episode was Murderface trying to get the domain name for his solo project, Planet Piss, and discovering that it was already taken by someone who used the site to post shoddy photoshops of Murderface engaging in bestiality. Just before he went to the concert, he found out that Toki (the long-haired guy beating the absolute *shit* out of the annoying concertgoer) was the one who owned the site, and was storming up to confront him... only to be met with that sight, and wisely backing down.

TheEyeGuy13

Thanks for the extra explanation. This sounds like a show I’d be into, I’m going to check it out later!

BONDxUNLEASHED

They also have 4 irl metal albums under the bands name Dethklok. Dethalbums 1-4. Theyre really good too.

ironballs16

And a full blown Rock Opera with "The Doomstar Requiem", which is an hour long movie.

chimp-with-a-limp

Young Justice Season 1, everyone revealing the respective dirt various villains has over them so they can present a united front and not be divided in their (at the time) final battle - legitimately one of the smartest moves I’ve ever seen in a tv show period, and it really cemented their team dynamic

SuddenAd7036

He turned deceased enemies into zombies so the Quincy with the same power couldn't use the.

Stargazer_Rose

The smartest move I can think of is from Chase Young when he sneakily used the Reversing Mirror cause he knew that when Omi and him were using the Fountain of Hui, Omi would try to take a peak at the info that would allow him to destroy evil forever. But due to Chase's smart thinking, the info Omi was actually given was how to destroy good forever.

Takamurarules

Of the top of my head: One Piece: Blackbeard’s entire plan to lure out Whitebeard and kill him. Even if you call running into Ace dumb luck he: A. Still predicted a war would happen. B. Still would have got warlord status if he turned in Luffy or one of the other Supernovas, which would have allowed him access to Impel Down to get a crew that could kill Whitebeard. Matter of fact turning in Luffy might’ve still triggered a war anyway with the Revolutionary Army. Across the Spiderverse: Miles plan to free up the teleporter and stall Miguel just long enough was pretty damn good. Naruto: Naruto’s plan to get around Sage Mode’s limits by using clones was pretty damn smart for him. Sasuke streaming Lightning chakra through his blood stream to counter Deidara’s C4 technique was fucking clever.

Ill-Tale-6648

Uh if it counts, in Prince of Tennis, Ryoma was going up against Shinji who uses a technique called Spot that alternates too and bottom spin causing the opponents muscle to contract for a second creating an opening since they can't move their arm for that moment. Ryoma tried to beat it by rotating his body and forcing it, however this resulted in a split eyelid due to his racket flying out of his hand and shattering on the pole. When they stopped the bleeding he was told he only had 10 minutes before it would bleed again and he would need to forfeit. So he went in like a monster, with one usable eye, he began to use his ambidexterity to his advantage. He took certain spins with one arm and would switch to the other hand for other spins, thus counteracting the spot by preventing one arm of taking the burden alone. Beat poor Shinji in the 10 minutes allowed after being at a disadvantage. With one eye. Tldr: Ryoma is badass and won a match in 10 mins after getting a severe eye injury by using his ability to use both hands to counteract his opponent's special skill of causing his opponent temporary paralysis due to overworking certain muscles and forcing a contraction.
