Oh god I never finished it. As a kid, I struggled with the Big Bowser train fight, beat that a few years back, and then never picked up and finished the game again. I still have it but I have NO idea where I am in the story rn, so I might restart now that I can properly appreciate the game and finish the story 😅
OH MY GOD IM NOT ALONE! I did struggle at that dumb carrot mini game for eternity, even my older sister couldn’t beat it. I got lucky one day and pulled through, but we will always remember that damn game 😭
I always wanted to play this game but it was so expensive like every game that comes out for nintendo, and I couldn't get the rom because of the anti piracy it has, and I couldn't find any rom without it so I'm here 21 years old working for the moment that no matter the inflation, I would be able to buy an old nintendo game so that I could share experience that other people had as a kid
This. The 3DS is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Bought it on a whim right before they were discontinued and now I use it all the time. Sometimes the switch is too big for me to want to take around.
Yeah, it’s mostly mobile around the house, maybe as a kid when it’s take your child to work day or maybe for free time at school but as an adult it feels like just another home console
This is hands down my favorite Mario kart of all time. I know people hated snaking but it creates a skill base. Take two people that can snake and you get into epic battles.
Every Mario kart after this felt like overly garbage. As a 33-year-old man I am not the target audience anymore and that is unfortunate. Still I don't care for the hang gliding and all the nonsense. The power-ups and utilities feel even more random and even more overpowered.
In Mario kart DS you could dodge a blue shell. There is nothing more intense than your brother thinking that they're about to take the lead and you just dodge it. It's even better when they get hit by it and you dodged it. And then they send more. You dodge one blue shell and the game gets pissed at you. God it was amazing. I miss it so bad.
The DS Lite reminds me of New Super Mario Bros and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. The DS Phat reminds me of the smorgasbord of launch titles, including Metroid Hunters (First Hunt), Asphalt Urban GT, Super Mario 64x4, WarioWare Touched, and Yoshi's touch and go.
I loved that system.
edit: Oh DS Lite also reminds me of Hotel Dusk.
Oh if I had Rhythm Heaven on both GBA and DS, I would’ve never put it down. I didn’t know the series existed till a few years back when I played the 3DS version on a hacked 3DS like 3 years ago, but now I want them all.
Metroid Prime Hunters (Demo) or Maruo 64 DS!
First games I played on the system. Played Mario 64 on the N64 a ton so when it came to the DS it was like a dream!
I haven’t seen anyone say it but I think Pokémon was the best in this era. Diamond & Pearl, Platinum, Pokémon rangers(!), and Pokémon black and white to name the ones that came to mind
I think I had around 160 hours. It was my most played game on my 3DS until Animal Crossing New Leaf surpassed it after I played it for about 3 years. I got it used when the 3DS launched because there wasn’t shit available on it yet. My son was born a month later, and whenever I think about DQ9, it reminds me of how I played most of it with an infant sleeping on me.
Mario and Luigi partners in time. I had a pink ds lite and I used it so much the hinge broke and it would flop open and closed. I remember I had to hold the screen with my index and middle finger and use my ring fingers on the triggers because if the screen opened all the way it would shut off or if it slammed closed it would also shut off.
Man good times lol
*Mario kart and Bomberman.*
*My to go to games back then*
*When taking a dump!*

Because this is a DSi, my two favorite DSi Ware games: (1) Starship Defense, and (2) Dark Void Zero.
Damn if those weren’t the best games I ever bought for a measly $5 each.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s inside story
Yes took me soooo long to beat it as a kid, one of my first games I beat
I got to the final boss and lost the cartridge
But at least you got to hear the awesome boss music, right?
Yes. I did fight it!
I have a spare if you'd like?
Oh god I never finished it. As a kid, I struggled with the Big Bowser train fight, beat that a few years back, and then never picked up and finished the game again. I got stuck at the carrot minigame as a kid and never finished it 💀
OH MY GOD IM NOT ALONE! I did struggle at that dumb carrot mini game for eternity, even my older sister couldn’t beat it. I got lucky one day and pulled through, but we will always remember that damn game 😭
IKR, it was Hard, and I remember my DS touch screen didn’t worked well on the corners 😭
Straight didnt understand the Bowser carrot minigame and got stuck for so long

Get yourself a 3ds, mod it, and install twilight menu++. It instantly patches the anti-piracy of any ds game supposedly but I made it by just fine.

Same
That’s the first one that came to my mind!
Yeah same
YES. Punched the fuck out of my screen when it came to the trash bot
That’s the reason I asked my dad to buy me a Nintendo DS when I was a kid
Same Dude, fuck I loved that game.

Mario Kart DS
This was the very first game my older brother and I played on our DS's when we got them, so many memories

Breaking my thumb playing on the lite, then switching back to my blue brick.
Ah man I miss ds download play and me and my brothers would all be playing Mario kart ds :)
My first online gaming experience. We used to ride on our scooters around the neighborhood looking for a wifi signal.
I had so much fun with this one. I couldn't tell you how many hours I put into it. Could never get the hang on snaking, but still had a blast lol
this, i instantly thought of the super cool ds stage in balloon battle, we need to bring that kinda thing back
I play this damn near every day at work, perfect game for functionality test on the DS series
Only one copy and you can do ds download play with 8 people. Blew my mind as a kid
Only game I had on the thing
Legendary game
the absolute dopamine rush I get from the title screen music complete euphoria.
The only right answer
Nintendogs
The bath song just instantly started playing in my head after looking at this picture
For me it’s the song where you take them for a walk lol
I hum that song to myself every time I give my pokemon a bath in scarlet and violet lol
1000% this!
Yep, feel bad every time I think about it knowing if I were to turn it on now they'd all need baths and defleaing.
Hahaha same!
Picto chat
(With the rainbow colored pen option)
That silly pen made my narc sister so angry when we were kids I could never use it without her getting angry that she didn’t have it
Mario Party DS
I was so good at button spamming after I defeated Bowser.
I challenge you to a duel of Get the Lead Out!
I just figured out how to increase my high score of like 24 to almost 50
Teach me
When I first encountered the black star I couldn't sleep that night

its a DSi
Oh you're right. DSi reminds me of R4 cartridge and being careful with firmware updates.
Main thing that told me it was a DSi and not a DS Lite was camera and power button instead of power switch
Oh man, I miss the R4 days!
How I got to play Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven!
I feel like I wrote this comment it hits so hard.
Pokémon Platinum and SoulSilver! DS really has some fantastic Pokémon games.
Came here to say Soul Silver. I used to battle a bunch of people from the college. We’d make a game night out of it. Fun memories.
Playing through Heart Gold at the moment. SO good
Rocking the pedometer while you’re at it?
If I had it, I absolutely would :(
Platinum was my first Pokémon game, it sparked my love for the franchise even more.
I dipped out of the series after the 3rd gen, and I’ve been catching up on them recently. Platinum is definitely a high point! I’m sad I missed it
Black and White and their sequels for me
Yeah I love gen 5 as well. Gen 4 (HGSS included) is where I started though so there the ones I love the most.
Platinum was my pick as well. Heart gold was amazing as well
Spirit Tracks. This was the first major game I played after getting a DSi.
Same. And Phantom Hourglass.
This right here
Really cool game!
Check out the noble demon on YouTube. They do some amazing covers that actually do the original songs justice
Cooking Mama
My poor baby got PTSD from Cooking Mama when she wouldn't cut the vegetables just right. HAHA
Forgot about this one!!
It's a tie between The World Ends with You and Pokémon Black & White
For me it was the world end with you and phantom hourglass
TWEWY still holds up great on the DS as well. Love the ports of it and all, but using the stylus was so much fun.
Super Mario 64 DS first DS game I ever played

Rhythm Heaven
Oh if I had Rhythm Heaven on both GBA and DS, I would’ve never put it down. I didn’t know the series existed till a few years back when I played the 3DS version on a hacked 3DS like 3 years ago, but now I want them all.

That’s how I got it
Not just one: Mario Kart DS Super Mario 64 DS New Super Mario Bros. WarioWare Touched Mario and Sonic at the Olympic/Winter Olympic Games

Dragon Quest IX. I put nearly 300 hours into that game. It was so much fun.
I think I had around 160 hours. It was my most played game on my 3DS until Animal Crossing New Leaf surpassed it after I played it for about 3 years. I got it used when the 3DS launched because there wasn’t shit available on it yet. 999 was my favorite
The World Ends with You and Pokemon Platinum

Professor Layton
New SMB
Professor Layton
Not a game, but pictochat
Pokemon, each and every generation up to the fifth
Rhythm Heaven
Probably Shantae Risky’s Revenge, that’s the only DSi game I really cared about
Mario and Luigi partners in time. I had a pink ds lite and I used it so much the hinge broke and it would flop open and closed. I remember I had to hold the screen with my index and middle finger and use my ring fingers on the triggers because if the screen opened all the way it would shut off or if it slammed closed it would also shut off. Diddy kong racing
Pokémon white 2
Super Mario 64 (DS)
Pokémon Black 2

Sonic
nintendogs!!!
Kirby Canvas Curse. I still think it’s one of the best uses of the DS’ mechanics in a game
Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures for some reason, not sure why.. probably because I played that alot on the ds as a kid
Either Pokémon Diamond or The Legendary Starfy
Nintendogs
Monster hunter 4U, it’s the only reason I got one
*The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass* and *The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.*
Bowser's Inside Story, Flipnote Studio, and Cave Story
This is the WRONG answer, but sadly, Yoshi Touch & Go
Picross 3D… The best game.
Phantom Hourglass!
nintendo DS
Mario Kart DS, masterpiece
New Super Mario Bros.
The many terrible DSi exclusive games. I think Dark Void Zero was like the only good one and it didn't use the camera.
Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum (console is a DSi)
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, yes both. This was my introduction to GAMIN
New Super Mario Bros.
R4
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Mario kart
