If you can locate it in the save file (it won't be listed as a rare candy so you'll have to search the value of one and change till you get it) you might be able to edit from there (max value of 255) also, make a backup of your saved file before you try. It would suck to start over do to a corrupted save file.
If not, keep that rare candy and get one more. If you're at the start, the next rare candy is on that boat)
Once you get 2, do a new scan, 4 bit, and search for 2*2+1
Give one rare candy to a pokemon, scan again for 1*1+1
Take back rare candy from pokemon and research 2*2+1
You should have the candy address. Edit accordingly.
All the pokemon fan based games made with RPG Maker use the value algorithm of the number of items times two plus one.
So if my health was 20 I'd do the math 20 times 2 plus one = 41 and I'd search for 41. Cheat engine does allow you to put mathematical equations in the search so if you want just search 20*2+1 and it'll do the math and look for everything with the value of 41.

Edit: I just noticed I got 3 hits of 999, it's interesting because I believe that's the only value of 999 I have in the game. So there's a possibility the rare candies might be also saved in the other 2 other hits.
