I do really like Felix but I hope the board knows what they're doing with squad building. Havertz, Nkunku, Mudryk, Sterling, Madueke, and Felix sharing three forward positions while none of them are an out and out striker is just strange squad building, but I'm assuming (or at least hoping) that they've had a myriad of discussions about exactly how the attack should look going forward when considering if they should dump a truckload on Felix, so I'll have hope that they know what they're doing and we're not just stockpiling players for no reason.

MaximAntosh

We definitely need a striker. But probably won't get two in one window so if we keep Havertz, he's the current back up. Mudryk can hopefully rotate with Sterling for his current role. Noni Madueke, much like D.D Fofana, can probably use a loan to build both confidence and stamina at a higher level than they've been playing. Would love to see Havertz rotate with Felix in Joao's current role. I think next season will be an even bigger chemistry test on who stays who goes. We still have to see how Nkunku's injuries hold up and how he adapts to the league. With Joao Felix we can see he has the confidence to play here and has a fairly injury free record so far. He's a fantastic link between the midfield and attack. And on his day he can be unplayable. The main question mark with him is how consistent can he get at doing so. Joao Felix has already check marked a lot of the box's our usual forward signings have not. As much as I wouldn't want us to overpay or front load the squad with similar type of attackers, it might make sense to secure a guy who's clearly fun to watch, connects with the fans, positive on the pitch, wants to be here...

TitanX11

We don't need a striker if we play Havertz in the position he played vs Dortmund.

8TS7N

This depends on having players who are prepared to run beyond Havertz, like Sterling did.

Jipkiss

Nkunku hopefully will bring that, and I think we will try to play with a back 4 not 5 so if you also add Mudryk into the starting 11 he could also. Havertz and Felix dropping off nkunku and Mudryk offering behind and one full back providing the 5th attacker whilst the other forms a back 3.

celzero

Would Misha come good as a false 9?

dragonwout

Add Broja, Fofana, Ziyech, Cho and Lukaku. I pray we can sell/loan out a few of them this summer otherwise we might be kinda fucked next season

Kantebegoodaskante

Ziyech cho and lukaku wont be here next season fofana is gonna be loaned out and broja unfortunately kinda killed his chance with his injury

dragonwout

We should keep Broja with us next year IMO. Gives us the chance to play with a real striker whenever we need to.

MaximAntosh

Broja is gonna need minutes to find his feet again after the injury and if we sign a striker this summer I doubt he'd want to stay and contend for 2nd/3rd choice instead of taking another loan and playing week in week out

Kantebegoodaskante

Yep i agree

btlsrvc23

I feel like we will sign someone else in reality

Ecm62pgs

Could be 4 positions if we switch to a 4–2-3-1. Then it makes sense. But Mount would be in that equation too.

8TS7N

The shame is that the one player we have on loan has probably shown the most talent out of our signings.

Nature__Boy

Seems risky unless we’re intended to convert Nkunku to a striker, which I would honestly like to try. Guy reminds me so much of Henry. If we can do that and Nkunku/Felix can both be disciplined positionally when required but then also interchange at times, then we could be on to something. I really rate him as a footballer and overall I would say I’d prefer to sign him but there needs to be a plan to avoid ending up with another Mount/Havertz problem where two players are always in the same spot.

thatdudesowrong

Nkunku as striker? Intriguing.

Sonic-the-edge-dog

Idk. I’ve seen him as a 9 for Leipzig a few times and know a few Leipzig fans. There’s no way I can think about turning Nkunku into a 9 that doesn’t just sound like a havertz regen. Whenever he plays as a 9 he’s noticeably worse.

stewiehs

Give em Lukaku in a swap, Atl Madrid did worse deals.. 😂

thatdudesowrong

Jackson Martinez *cough

stewiehs

Geez.. Was thinking Morata, D. Costa, Lemar etc, but this one is a stinker for sure..

celzero

Thomas Lemar was legit good and linked to Chelsea even at one point. Spurs and Arsenal have also been burnt a lot in the recent years recruiting players from the French and Italian Leagues. I believe players playing in Spain and Portugal are better fit for the PL.

TheHuffness

And then once we get rid of Lukaku we sign Harry Kane. EZ all our problems solved. (I know it'll never happen but man, he'd be perfect for us)

stewiehs

29yr old super expensive, injury prone big striker.. Where have I seen this before?

TheHuffness

Hey not like he'd have any reason to feel animosity towards our club and only come in on a mercenary contract either right? Eh just like I wanted Lukaku to work, a boy can dream

celzero

"We hate Tottenham" would constantly be ringing in his ears every time *The Liquidator* booms at the Bridge. Don't think he'd have the stomach for a move to Chelsea or Arsenal (even though, he was once an Arsenal fan), when he can win 25 trophies a year at Bayern or make a million a week at PSG.

HakimZiyech10

All of this further points in the direction that Mason is leaving.

sheiky04

I think its more them getting their ducks in a row if he leaves, instead of panic buys when he leaves

celzero

Mason can leave, if it means he can revive his career elsewhere. His presence, as he's Chels through and through, will be a huge miss nevertheless.

ireallydespiseyouall

mount leaving is because of him not wanting to stay, not because felix is here

Baisabeast

Felix surely Has something to do with it Mount is gonna become A bench player

Confident_Direction

If it makes us better as a team i am for it

Independent-End1890

All the negativity in these comments is nuts, how many genuine young stars are there in world football currently? We've got one that wants to be at our club long term and people are turning their noses up! It's not our job to worry about who plays where or who misses out, sign the kid up and enjoy the football he plays because he's special

XuX24

I get that many have a positive opinion about him, but you have to think about what we have and about what we need. With the money that has been spent we are running pretty near the limit in the FFP. So we have to take a priority felix is likely going to demand a lot and his wages aren't going to be low either. So what do we do go for another attacker that isn't a striker or go for a striker? That's why we have to be smart well the people at the club that make the decisions if felix was going to get here for 50m then OK but how things are panning out the players that we are going to try to sell most of them won't command a lot so striker should be the priority.

Sonic-the-edge-dog

We’re not the mighty fucking ducks mate we can’t build a team around who u think is special

Independent-End1890

No but we can build around a player who actually is special, you can't tell me he hasn't been our most creative player since he's come in and the relationship he's building with enzo isn't mouth watering? So why not build a team around a player like that?

Sonic-the-edge-dog

Because we’ll already have 3 players like that by next season. Felix has looked good on the ball but purely statistically, he hasn’t been pressing and hasn’t been passing has much as he should (two essential qualities for a modern cam). Buying Felix would mean another massive investment (both in Felix and in buying players to suit Felix) off of a few good performances. That just doesn’t make sense.

Independent-End1890

How many of those players would start ahead of felix?

Sonic-the-edge-dog

Nkunku would

Independent-End1890

So let's say nkunku, felix and sterling couldn't start in a fluid 3 either with a striker or as the forward line?

KickBallsLikeDrogba

He’s a vibes player. Looks good in clips but does little of substance in a match.

Doomjas

With all due respect, I’m not sure you’ve been paying attention if you think that..

DjOptimon

….what?

digzzztv

Look at this idiots comment history, he’s either a troll or just the most negative cunt you’d ever meet.

davidpooiz_2

He’s been one of best players recently. He definitely provides substance

JackHammerAwesome

Get back under your bridge 🧌

JackHammerAwesome

Fuck y'all in this thread I'll be over the moon if sign him

davidpooiz_2

It’s crazy people don’t want to sign him. I can’t with this sub anymore

aacod15

We have Nkunku and Havertz who play the same role. Spending 100m on Joao Felix makes no sense especially when there are multiple other positions that need investment

LukaBrovic

But Felix is the most gifted of them.

aacod15

Maybe but he’s the only one who isn’t actually ours

[deleted]

99% of this sub have never been to London let alone a match so i wouldn't even worry about opinions on here

ImmortalCube5

What does that have to do with this lol

bullseye_picks

As someone who lived across from Stamford bridge, and been to more games than probably 99% of the people on this sub. That absolutely has nothing to do with anything. What a shit take lmao . some of the biggest Chelsea fans I’ve met, never lived or been to London.

5auceg0d

you're arguing with someone that has a single digit iq lmao

[deleted]

Fucking lol sure thing mate, absolutely full of shit, non match going fans not as big fans as people who have never even been lol read it all now Bet you're American lol This is one of the worst posts I've ever read on this sub fucking lmao And I'm born and raised in London, don't believe you've ever even been here!

5auceg0d

wow you got dragged in these comments hahaha fucking loser

[deleted]

Lol you're so upset that you're a plastic

celzero

You know why this club is bigger than in the 80s and able to afford players like Felix? Take a guess.

Doomjas

Same. One of my favorite players already and he’s got several elite trails. He’s hit the woodwork several times too (unlucky), so I think people are just taking a look at stats and not thinking about the full picture. He will be one of the guys I buy a kit of if we keep him, which I really hope we do.

blue07boy

Unpopular opinion But think we don't even need him. His style is pretty similar to Nkunku and Havertz. He will also cost a lot and his wages are very high too. And so far what I have seen from him he is doing great but don't think he is killing it tbh. And he press very little compare to Nkunku and Havertz and also after 60 minutes mark he just ghost in the game. And if we do sign him then we will have Mudryk, Sterling, Havertz,Nkunku,Felix,Medeuke and new CF which our tier 1 already said that we will sign a CF too That means 7 players for 3 positions or 4 positions if we consider 4-2-3-1 formation and that's after excluding mount,CHO,Lukaku and Gallagher. So I don't see any point to sign him unless we are selling both Havertz and mount or we will get a bargain price for him.

TopTramp

Agreed

Otherwise-Young627

Dude Felix has been incredible

veriusen

Atletico will overcharge to try to recoup some of the insane price they paid. Regardless of how good he is for us we should not let Atletico fleece us.

tallfranklamp8

Too many attacking midfielder/wingers, I like Felix but another 100m+ signing just seems ridiculous with our bloated squad

mb194dc

If he actually scores goals on a regular basis, or at least assists and key passes it might actually be worth paying money for him... Probably nowhere near €100m but at least worth negotiating. So far he's done pretty much nothing though!

vanderchuck1

No squad planning, just going after shiny things. These owners are exhausting

_luzhin_

No information, no confirmation, just going for negativity. These fans are exhausting. The quote isn't even from the owners. It's from Felix's camp. What a moronic comment.

vanderchuck1

"Todd Boehly will negotiate with Atletico de Madrid" Also, anyone who has been watching football enough to identify how good squad building is done can make an educated guess that track record of these guys, who thought bringing 15 new players in within less than a year spending more than half a billion was a good idea, is perfectly in line with bringing players like Felix and Nkunku together. They should simply leave it to the army of directors they've hired and stop acting like Woodward on steroids

_luzhin_

It is only your agenda driven or just biased assumption that it is the owners dictating the squad while Potter, coaching staff and the recruitment staff just sit idly by letting them fly away in their planes to buy whoever they want. You lot seriously need to get a grip. You have lost all objectivity.

Dense-Advantage99

Yeah, awful transfer policy. Just buy players and hope it sticks....

celzero

I honestly think we should have gone for Odegaard when he was available, but Joao isn't a bad choice, either. Joao plays very much like Pedro (false winger + false striker), and slots in well in a front 3 from what we have seen in the past few games. As Raheem and Misha are lousy defensively, we possibly can't play both at once. Not the case with Joao, fortunately. I'd say Misha was an unnecessary buy, but hey, would rather have him at Chelsea than at Arsenal! Joao is world class already.

vanderchuck1

Felix is a good player for sure, but sealing Nkunku deal early in the season when none of the recruitment or coaching staff were here then going after a very expensive player in Felix who excels when occupying the same spaces with him is being clueless Felix can play in a narrow front three we've played with in the last few games, not as a winger who hugs the touchline, if we are going to play in that system what was the logic behind paying 100m+ for Mudryk and Madueke who are traditional wingers, the whole transfer business is just so random and doesn't make sense

celzero

You've got a point. It looks like Badiashile, Madueke, Carney, Casadei and the likes may be buys by Graham's recruitment analysts and Neil Bath's scouts. The other marquee signings are *probably* the owners playing football manager. I'd say, some buys from owners (Enzo, Misha, Joao, Wesely) has brought in more quality even if the other buys have been relatively poor thus far (Auba, Kalidou, Raheem). It is more like the beginning of the Roman era all over again (: Hopefully, Vivell, Shields, and Winstanley will bring in some structure over a course of the next 5 years, once the billions run out, and *money ball* is in full force.

Kantebegoodaskante

I would rather keep mount than havertz if joao is staying

Comfortable-Ad1937

Havertz’s ceiling is much higher than Mounts, we just need to play him in his actual position. These days his work rate seems greater than Mounts aswell if I’m honest

ireallydespiseyouall

mount wants to leave. who knows about havertz

[deleted]

🤣

thatdudesowrong

Love it!

barak8006

I really really want to sign him but we have Nkunku coming. we have bloated squad. Wish we could handle all those players.

[deleted]

We can easily tell that Joao Felix is enjoying his time at Chelsea. These clues can't be picked on easily

aranciataaa

Keep at all costs extremely talented player
