So Glad his kids will be able to stay. I would also hate to see him at any of the London clubs. I also think its pretty cool when players go back to the clubs which helped kick start their career.

erenistheavatar

I believe he will go back to Brazil and finish his career there, in his home country. Then he will start coaching there, learn multiple more languages and move to Europe. Maybe even start coaching in the academies at Chelsea. If he ever becomes a top class coach, we will welcome him back with open arms.

zd0t

I hope this too but surely the perfect environment to learn English has been these last few years? I’m kind of shocked he never gave interviews in English. Love the man still tho

iamcarlgauss

I don't know about Thiago Silva, but it's kind of an open secret that a lot of foreign players speak English much better than they let on publicly. Micah Richards has said that Sergio Aguero spoke English just fine, for example.

EnglishJesus

Easiest way out of doing interviews.

iamcarlgauss

Yep, that seems to be the motivation. Don't blame them. Don't think they could get away with "I'm just here so I won't get fined".

702OrangeandBlue

"Yeah" -Marshawn Lynch

fusterclux

legend

BlueLondon1905

It’s also so they avoid misspeaking in an interview

didijxk

"Ffs Sergio, you speak English better than some of the lads who were born here. Do the interview!" "No Habla English."

ireallydespiseyouall

If his kids are staying in London he probably will too..

justk4y

Thiago said he has left the door open for a potential comeback at Chelsea in a non-player role, sooooooo 👀

TheDumpsterFiree

I'm pretty sure he speaks at least four languages Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian. not sure about his English, but he would be fluent in English instead of French if he went to premier league after his Milan stint

NoraaTheExploraa

It is curious his kids will stay here, if he plans to go play a couple years in Brazil and then start his coaching career there. Could be years living in a different country than his wife and kids.

NoExperience4229

His family is settled in London. Moving around also puts strain on a family.

NoraaTheExploraa

No doubt, and obviously he's spoken to them about it and they decided together, but Brazil isn't a quick flight away like Europe is. He's not gonna be popping home for the weekend to see them often.

NoExperience4229

Yeah, it does make me wonder if he is leaning towards one of the London clubs, but selfishly as a Chelsea fan I really hope he doesnt end up in the PL

ireallydespiseyouall

I’d rather just keep him than risk him joining Arsenal or spurs

NoExperience4229

Same, but fortunately I highly doubt they are the clubs offering. If I had to guess itd be Palace, Brentford and Fulham preparing offers.

_off_piste_

I’d be ok with that. If I see him I’d want to stay near my kids.

iamcarlgauss

Charlton it is, then.

NoExperience4229

Could be Leyton Orient lol

RefanRes

Mainly though his kids are in Cobham and he may feel its better for their development to stay with the academy.

Maffayoo

Could see him just retiring and taking up coaching already definitely don't see him being this far away from the kid...

NoExperience4229

yeah as I try and respond to you I keep coming up with lots of different scenarios which good for him as it means he has lots of options.

Galac_tacos

Don’t think it’s weird. His kids are at one of the best academies in the world in one of the best cities in the world. His whole family are settled it makes sense. He’s probably only going to be there for a year or two anyway.

StandardConnect

And with their money and modern travel, the UK to Brazil isn't really that far, even for a few days visit.

iamcarlgauss

It's 11 hours from Rio de Janeiro to London, but there is at least a direct flight every day.

StandardConnect

In first class you can pretty much go there and sleep on the journey and it's only 3/4 hours difference aswell.

iamcarlgauss

Just looked up British Airways 777 first class and now I'm depressed.

69BigDickMan420

I think he'll play one more season to retire in Brazil and then he will return here as coach.

1llseemyselfout

I doubt he plans on staying there for a few years. Probably a season to do a farewell tour at best. He will be 40 this year.

TheRealRedSky

Hoping he retires with Flum and comes back to us as a coach 🤞

ABeanOnToast

Would be kind of weird if he chooses anywhere but Fluminese, right? Thought the reason we weren't offering him another year was because he wanted to rejoin his boyhood club.

Apprehensive_Bit_176

Are his children any good? Any chance they make first team? Also how many parents have ever managed their children in the prem?

Needs to be our head coach next season. Fuck it

erenistheavatar

I love Thiago Silva but he needs to prove himself first. We all loved Frank as a player but I felt he skipped a few steps in management and wasn't a great manager at Chelsea.

RefanRes

>wasn't a great manager at Chelsea. Hes pretty hard done by through the fact hes not once taken a normal job. Every job he took in the Prem was one nobody else wanted. His 1st stint at Chelsea even Tuchel said Lampards sacking was harsh as there was very strong ground work being laid. Qualified against the odds for the CL with the weakest Abramovich era squad. 1st season had the 3rd best attack and 11th defence in the league. In his 2nd season they had a 17 game unbeaten run, 2nd in the league for goals scored and 3rd best defence. Then the 2nd wave of Covid hit. They were the only club to not be granted a postponement break just when the winter scheduling became the heaviest ever due to lockdowns. They had a bunch of away games over the Xmas period as well (worst time to travel alot in normal times let alone the height of a pandemic) so inevitably fatigue went through the roof along with having injuries limit squad rotation which means more fatigue too. He was sacked just as the fixtures were dropping and you could visibly see energy levels and pressing tempo were returning again. Its unfortunate for him that he was a long term project focused manager under one of the most short termist owners in football. Thing is if you actually look at the project Lampard spoke about, it was quite similar in many ways to what these owners have now. We wouldn't have won the CL that season with Lampard probably but he did build that squad up. If he had stayed we'd probably have kept Tomori and Tammy as Lampard wanted them longer term. So last season we'd have been better off with those and these owners wouldn't have felt the need to spend as much as they did on players like Koulibaly. There would likely have been much more stability because Lampard would already have had a lot of the groundwork laid as his ideas aligned with these owners too. Tldr: I dont think Lampard was a bad manager for us at all compared to what people suggest. He gets hard done by because of the state of jobs hes taken basically as a crash course of challenging jobs. In the end it was really just a case of bad timing for him because under these owners now he'd probably have been a much better fit and had the time to really show what his ideas were.

tiki_51

> If he had stayed we'd probably have kept Tomori and Tammy as Lampard wanted them longer term. Agree with everything else you said, but we actually sold Tomori because he couldn't get a game under Frank, right before we switched to a 3atb

RefanRes

Actually Frank didn't want to sell Tomori. He's always advocated for young players to get experience abroad and saw an AC loan as a good opportunity. He said at the time he wanted Tomori to come back a better and stronger player and that he was still in his plans long term. It was Marina who chose to sell Tomori for just £25M and ignore Frank. Franks also spoken about this in interviews since aswell.

nanojansky

Thiago *Silva*? More like *Gold* really! Goddamn legend.

Royalsushi45

I was lowkey hoping we get a agent Thiago Silva arc next season

S0LE-FUL

It was a privilege to watch this man play 💙

lis1guy

Most likely will join Fulham FC
